Editorializing with the sic use, are we?
[edit]"Cum town is not a socialist podcast it's not a fascist podcast it's a podcast about being gay with your dad (sic)."
That sic is unnecessary. Cumtown is a podcast about being gay with your dad. Cumboys Nick, Adam, and Stav all joke about having sexual relations with their dads, their moms, and a wide variety of sexual taboos that I don't need to chronicle at this time. Cumboy Adam's father seems to be of a particular complex about his son's sexuality
To the tune of Dion DiMucci's 1961 classic The Wanderer, Cumboy Nick sang "Well, I'm the type of guy who fucks his mom and dad." This is not atypical of the humor of the podcast, and yet someone thinks the reader will be misled by Cumboy Adam's assertion that the podcast is about being gay with your dad. It is
Cumtown is about being gay with your dad. It's a comedy podcast, about having sex with your father. The sic will be removed unless someone can find me a topic of discussion of Cumtown more frequent than the old cock-in-pop
- The (sic) was there because Adam isn't good at punctuation. --2603:9004:503:C00:9C94:3927:EA92:95 (talk) 06:14, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Michael Douglas? Aren't we missing something?
[edit]Nick doesn't just do a Michael Douglas impression. It's gay Michael Douglas. It's Michael Douglas if he were gay, which sounds the same but his famous movie lines are transposed into gay stereotype. It's gay Michael Douglas or gay actor Michael Douglas as in "Hi, I'm gay actor Michael Douglas, and Cock, for lack of a better word, is good." or "Hi, I'm gay actor Michael Douglas, what did you do, wake up this morning and say, 'Today, I'm going to suck a man's cock?"
It's actually not a good impression and probably one of the more problematic bits, but it's funny so let's be specific that he isn't "doing Michael Douglas as an impression" he's just gratuitously talking about fellatio — Preceding unsigned comment added by MoreLike5AMEdit (talk • contribs) 03:38, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

Change "As of August 2019, Cum Town was the sixth highest earning podcast on Patreon." to "As of March 2021, Cum Town was the fifth highest earning podcast on Patreon." Based on https://graphtreon.com/patreon-creators/podcasts, a patreon statistics aggregation site. To corroborate filter, by "earnings". Mevdemasvar (talk) 13:44, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- Partly done: that list is by number of patrons, rather than earnings (which we don't actually know), so I just said "most popular" instead. Volteer1 (talk) 13:59, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

Name change proposal
[edit]Proposal to just change the name to TAFS as a continuation of Cumtown? Nswix (talk) 23:04, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
Requested move 4 October 2022
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: not moved. Consensus is that the two shows are separate subjects. (closed by non-admin page mover) – robertsky (talk) 04:14, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
Cum Town → The Adam Friedland Show – instead of differentiating between this and TAFS, why not just call it what it really is, which is a name change Nswix (talk) 23:11, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose The Adam Friedland Show is a separate, spin-off podcast, like Joey is to Friends and Better Call Saul is to Breaking Bad. The fact that The Adam Friedland Show was able to automatically roll over much of the audience from Cum Town is simply a quirk of a podcast medium. Brycehughes (talk) 01:17, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose, maybe split off a separate article if enough coverage is out there.--Ortizesp (talk) 03:00, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
They have all the same fans because they literally just changed the name of the Patreon page... Nswix (talk) 15:08, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- Crossover between audiences is not a valid reason to not allow a name change. The format of the Adam Friedland Show will be that of a talk show, hosted by Adam Friedland, with Nick Mullen acting as producer. This is entirely different from the format of Cumtown, which is an audio-only podcast presented by Nick Mullen, Adam Friedland, and Stavros Halkias.
- Cumtown has ended, the page should be left, and a new page should be created for The Adam Friedland Show Teodan511 (talk) 16:44, 5 October 2022 (UTC)
- It will hard to find secondary sources for it in order to qualify as a standalone page. The move should be postponed at least until the show gets out of it's pre-production phase. Artmusicmovies (talk) 00:51, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose because the reliable secondary sources call it Cum Town. TAFS is a different subject. Perhaps a redirect would be more appropriate. TipsyElephant (talk) 12:11, 8 October 2022 (UTC)
- Support, TAFS is the successor to Cum Town. Once/if it becomes something that is no longer a podcast, the current content could be moved to a section about the origins of TAFS. Having two separate articles would be bloated. Soapwort (talk) 04:30, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

Add this to Friedland's section:

- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. M.Bitton (talk) 15:50, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

Mullen does many celebrity impressions.. etc. I think a huge character of Nick's is missing which is: Christopher Walken. Gusde Verdacchi (talk) 21:51, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Cannolis (talk) 22:43, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
patreon popularity
[edit]the article currently states that cum town "was the number one podcast on the platform [patreon] for most of 2017 and 2018." this is not the case. i would delete this line myself were the article not semi-protected. compare the citation to for example https://graphtreon.com/creator/chapotraphouse. 2A02:8070:D285:4E20:0:0:0:8FAF (talk) 22:12, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
