[edit]I don't really think this is a stub, honestly... how much more could really be said about it?
4/07/06 the characters were wacky indeed!
and, the page is no longer a Stub.
ClayFighter Music
[edit]Nothing else to say about it? One aspect of ClayFighter I'd like to know more about is the excellent title music, which had sampled singing, speech and instruments well beyond the regular capabilities of the SNES sound chip! AFAIK, no emulator is yet capable of emulating whatever hardware trick it uses to pull off this feat. (The SNES soundchip can normally hold only about 256Kb of data - including samples, IIRC) I don't suppose anyone reading happens to know more about how it was achieved and could possibly add something to the main article? Random Info I Remember
[edit]Having a 3DO, I had many Interplay games, like Descent, Wolfenstein 3d, and, yes, Clay Fighter. Clay Fighter, the first game, was released on 3DO. I have the disc somewhere, with 100+ 3DO games also. There's also an ad and review of the game in some old GameFan and EGM issues I have, and just a review in an issue of NextGen, all from late-'95.
The name of the band the performs the Clay Fighter theme song is Ephony or Ephifany or something like that. If I ever get my vast collection of video game stuff organized, I will get this name right. The full version of the theme song used be able to be downloaded as an MP3 from Napster and Yoink and LimeWire, etc., about 6 to ten years ago (some pre-P2P methods required). I think the name is on a promo flyer I got from a CES convention about this time.
One particular ad of Clay Fighter has the muscle-bound character wearing M. Bison's dictator's hat and the rest of the Clay Fighters beat up characters from Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, World Heroes, Fatal Fury, etc. The two main characters from World Heroes, the Ken and Ryu wannabes, are in a trash can in the ad.
Clay Fighter TE was in a higher resolution, and the graphics were heavily cleaned-up, but this doesn't seem to get a mention. Also, like Killer Instinct and some other SNES/Genesis games of the era, using an old-fashioned TV via RF instead of AV gets better results in the graphics, because the flaws that are present in the graphical presentation isn't seen by a low-grade connection.
Also, the Genesis version has excellent play-control compared to the other two SNES versions, while the 3DO is tight, like too tight and my fingers would always get cramped. Maybe it's because the 3DO controllers sucked!
Some old-ass rumors from Interplay themselves at the CES: Game Boy and Game Gear versions were planned, as well as various PC formats like Mac, DOS, Spectrum, Amiga, Amstrad, and some other off-beat to Americans formats. Of course, we know that none of these came out. My only source is talking to an Interplay employee, and one screen shot of the Game Boy and Gear Gear versions. One screen shot. That's it. And frankly, the Game Boy version looked like the SNES version just "greenscaled" at the time. The Game Gear version looked real, and could've been, as Master System was huge in Europe and Brazil, two very big markets. Brazil is still Master System country, by the way.
This is all the information I have, other than Visual Concepts was the developer. I can't answer any other questions unless I remember something. I mean, Clay Fighter wasn't as big as Street Fighter II, so I didn't follow is as closely, but I do own every version except the 63.33 Sculptor's Cut. I use the Genesis version on my Nomad to play on the go, and it's quite fun if I'm stuck in an airport awaiting my flight. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coffee4binky (talk • contribs) 17:01, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Character Descriptions
[edit]I feel like a couple of the character descriptions could be rewritten a little bit. Notably Helga and Tiny. Helga's "defining feature" is apparently her "incredible" breasts? I don't think Tiny is wearing a diaper either. it looks much more like a speedo or something to me. --208.40.106.34 (talk) 17:49, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

– Per WP:NCVGDAB guidelines. There is no obvious primary game in the series so the series article should be primary. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 14:48, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
