Oppose. The State of New York may be confused with the City of New York. The current title is clear: deleting "(state)" is not supported. However, the article title may be improved by removing the brackets and renaming in some ways. Cfls (talk) 22:45, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose per WP:PRECISE. New York commonly refers to both the state and the city, and people have certainly been executed in NYC's history, and such executions are likely a notable topic (and an article on the topic would probably make for an interesting, albeit morbid, read). I also oppose @JohnCWiesenthal's suggestion as the current title is WP:CONSISTENT with New York (state). voorts (talk/contributions) 04:18, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support per nom. Capital punishment in the United States is regulated by states, so capital punishment in the city is the same as capital punishment in the state. No need whatsoever for the disambiguator. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:22, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support Currently, there are no articles with a "Capital punishment in [city]" title, likely because no city in the world has a notably unique history/regulation of capital punishment not captured in the state and/or national-level article. If this move request is accepted, I would support the creation of a redirect from "Capital punishment in New York City" (currently lacks a page) to this state-level article.
