Improvements
[edit]Expanded the entry but there's a lot more that needs to be done to this article. The bibliography needs cleaning up and there's probably stuff i missed out. I intend to come back and sort it out eventually but if anyone fancies a pop in the meantime, then feel free.Logan1138 17:19, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Birth date
[edit]When was Alan Grant born? I see no source in the article for 9 February. According to BNF he was born on 2 July. According other sources (GCD, isfdb, noosfere) he was born on 7 February, but I am not sure about their reliability. Jaqen (talk) 07:45, 22 July 2022 (UTC)

Alan Grant first marriage
[edit]Not mentioned is Alan’s first marriage in his late teens to Morelle Smith. The marriage which, according to Alan, was opposed by her parents, ended in 1968. 51.6.139.112 (talk) 08:25, 10 May 2023 (UTC)
SCHOOL EXPULSIONS
[edit]I was at secondary school with Alan. He was a very bright boy but was never expelled and then reinstated. The extent of his rebellion was wearing a black leather motorcycle jacket. 51.6.139.112 (talk) 16:40, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
JOURNALISM
[edit]I lodged with Alan in Dundee at a time when he edited ‘Secrets’ magazine for publishers DC Thompson. Thompson had full editorial control over stories so Alan re-hashed romances written 20 or 30 years earlier.Alan also told me that knowing that Thompson were a Conservative Party supporting group, he responded to an interview question about his own politics by saying he was ‘a mild fascist’. He got the job! 51.6.139.112 (talk) 16:48, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
