Asian Monetary Policy Forum

[edit]

The Asian Monetary Policy Forum, also known as AMPF, is held annually in Singapore. The forum is co-organised by the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)[7]. AMPF has brought together central bankers, policy makers, academics and private sector leaders to share perspectives on pressing monetary policy issues in Asia, such as natural real interest rates, economic growth and inflationary expectations[8]. By considering the experiences of different groups of economies in the practice of macro-financial stability policies, the forum aims to identify specific characteristics associated with their approaches.[9] Speakers at the past forums included Olivier Blanchard, Jacob A. Frenkel, Zhu Min, Michael Spence and Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

During the pandemic in 2021, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) hosted a virtual edition on "Macro-financial stability policy in a globalised world: Lessons from international experience" as part of the AMPF 2021 Special Edition.[10]

ABFER Annual Conference

[edit]

The ABFER Annual Conference started in 2013 and has connected globally prominent academic researchers, practitioners, and public policy decision-makers to raise relevant financial and economic research in Asia-Pacific.[11] The Annual Conference touches ground on a range of topics, such as the fragmentation of the dollar-dominated international payment system, monetary tightening, bank fragility and government failures[12]. In 2023, more than a dozen organisations in Asia have joined ABFER to become Institution Collaborators[13].
