User:EEng, best to let it go, it's obvious that we've touched a nerve and Victuallers' childish and pointy outburst is just a way of blowing off steam which he clearly needs to urgently do. As a point of fact, Victualler's ranty wrath was misguided and misdirected. I didn't nominate this article, I made a number of swift suggestions to another editor, Matty.007 as I had recently created a bunch of articles but didn't want to go through the currently disastrous and embarrassing DYK process. The "correction" made is a personal preference, obviously, the original hook was just fine, but I'm glad in a way it provided an outlet for a clearly angry and frustrated person. :That's obviously true, but I want to address Materialscienctist's idea that this is an issue of personal preference between V and me -- it's not that, but rather an issue between V and everyone else. When I find what I believe is a fact problem with a hook, I pull it out so that it can cycle back for public reconsideration -- that way, if I'm wrong it can be confirmed for appearance after all, and if I'm right a new hook will be the work of more editors than just me. Either way I'm not substituting my judgment for that of others except to the temporary extent of saying, "Please pause for a moment."<p>In contrast, in this situation V made an angry, pointy change to a hook at the eleventh hour, and suddenly his version was on MP without, apparently, anyone else knowing it had been made. He therefore imposed his opinion in permanent substitution of everyone else's. That's why I made the request here. EEng (talk) 12:43, 22 June 2014 (UTC) |

My edits to the page "Rajneesh Duggal" were based on his twitter account @rajniesh19. Though this account is not verified yet (his limited filmography) verified accounts have tagged him with this account making it a reliable source (probably). My other changes are based on his claims in the show khatron ke khiladi where he is currently the finalist ie that he was the voice of donald duck and has been a national level swimmer — Preceding unsigned comment added by STya SweetFA (talk • contribs) 19:14, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
editing Kutch Gurjar Kashtriya
You reverted my edit. That s fine by me, but you are fooling the public. Gurjars are not Kshatriyas (which only Rajputs are), there are many references on the net. Perhaps you belong to the Gurjar community, so you want to promote it. I give you little chance since majority of Indians know the system by heart. Even the title is misspelt Kashtriya instead of Kshatriya. This is just a waste of my time , i will not edit this erronous " encyclopedia" anymore. Hi. User:68.51.141.108, whom you blocked for vandalism last month, has continued his/her vandalism. In addition, he/she has blanked all previous warnings from that IP's talk page, making it difficult for admins and other editors to see the transparency of his/her history of vandalism, at a glance, and replaced those warnings with material that may be defamation of a real-life person. I know that editors are allowed to blank their talk pages, but when IP vandals blank past warnings, it may make it harder for admins to intervene with historical accuracy, and if that person mentioned in that fake article is a real-life person, it could leave Wikipedia open to legal issues. I think a long-term block should be imposed on that account. In any event, I hope you keep a close eye on that page. I've restored the past warnings to give you an idea of the problem, but he/she may re-blank them. There is no reason to think that that vandal is going to stop. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 01:59, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- The user has reverted the page, and restored the possibly defamatory material. Nightscream (talk) 00:14, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for your intervention. I have a question, though: When is disallowing an IP editor to blank warnings from their talk page (and protecting the page) permitted, and when is it not, and which criteria would you cite for having protected 68.51.141.108's talk page? Don't get me wrong, I agree with you, but I ask because of this discussion I started on the topic. Can you offer your thoughts there? Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 01:45, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
- IPs are not allowed to remove some maintenance templates from their talk, such as active block templates and ISP templates. Also, user/IP talk pages are reserved for communication and should not be used for article drafts/storage, advertisement and some other inappropriate activities. Removing warnings is well allowed. This is (partly) described in WP:BLANKING. Materialscientist (talk) 01:57, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Photo of Sheikha Al-Mayassa Al-Thani
Why do you keep deleting the photo on the page of Al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani when it has the proper license - which is listed as an acceptable option on Wikimedia Commons and subsequently approved?
Separately you have stated that "non-commercial license is not Ok for Wikipedia", when all Creative Commons licenses are technically Non Commercial, unless otherwise attributed. I do not understand your comment, as in June 2009 the Wikipedia community and Wikimedia Foundation board approved the adoption of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license as the main content license for Wikipedia and other Wikimedia sites.
AmmarAbdRabbo (talk) 06:34, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- There are numerous Creative Commons Licenses. For a brief instruction see [1] - uploading content with a non-commercial (NC) or no-derivative (ND) CC license is not allowed on Wikipedia. Materialscientist (talk) 07:15, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
So why is it listed as an upload option if Wikipedia does not allow it? AmmarAbdRabbo (talk) 07:38, 13 May 2014 (UTC)

Edit concerning use of varieties of English and spelling in Ocean
If you could clarify your meaning the reversal of [this edit] in the Oceans article. You point to WP:ENGVAR, while I was attempting to follow WP:ARTCON, and MOS:RETAIN. The majority of unit spellings are in British english (metres) I can't tell the precise meaning of "no, units follow WP:ENGVAR". They may all need to change one way or the other. Based on, [this edit] is the first post-stub edit to add unit spellings in American English, and based on "When no English variety has been established and discussion cannot resolve the issue, the variety used in the first non-stub revision is considered the default. If no English variety was used consistently, the tie is broken by the first post-stub contributor to introduce text written in a particular English variety." from MOS:RETAIN they should all be American English, even if you don't consider the incorporation of unit spellings. Respond here or on my talk page. Cheers, Esoxidtalk•contribs 21:19, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- I haven't checked the original spelling of the article, if any, but the argument that "metre" should be spelled as "metre" per international conventions is wrong - metre and meter are merely two different spellings. Note that many spelling varieties are listed outside because a certain international body historically favors a certain regional spelling (Commonwealth or US) - this is no guide for Wikipedia. Materialscientist (talk) 21:24, 13 May 2014 (UTC)
- That was not my assertion in reverting the edit. My point was that just about all spellings in the article are "metre", and a single edit changing one instance to "meter" just further confuses what should be the standard use on the article. I actually agree it should be "meter" since that was the default until instances of "metre" were added. Esoxidtalk•contribs 01:06, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
- Looks like I found the reason. The Template:Convert was in use without the specification of spelling, so they were being converted and automatically spelled as "metre". Esoxidtalk•contribs 01:17, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
- Sure, and I haven't looked there while reverting. Fixing that. Materialscientist (talk) 01:20, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the comments. I do not believe that stating that similar electromagnetic charges repulse each other constitute original research. Rejecting clear known science in favor of bizarre esoteric concepts has never helped to enrich the knowledge base of humanity. I only state facts, therefore hardly original research.
A few citations from Max Planck
- A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.
- New scientific ideas never spring from a communal body, however organized, but rather from the head of an individually inspired researcher who struggles with his problems in lonely thought and unites all his thought on one single point which is his whole world for the moment.
I am 68 tears of age, an observer of nature and science for half a century, and witness to quite a few blunders. If I cannot express simple correct facts about nature in this forum, where else can I go? Dark energy is an hypothesis, so are the cosmological constant and quintessence, barely mathematical objects to plug into equations, but nothing really observable. That attitude of inventing esoteric forces is be the domain of religion. I talk about ions, stars and EMfields.

Hi, Materialscientist. You blocked User:Maeveh at the same time as I was typing some advice for them here. Since they had actually complied with Dougweller's request for an explanation, I wanted to give them one more chance, with my advice + warning. It's true that they may well end up indeffed pretty soon, as not being really competent to edit Wikipedia (for instance, it doesn't look like they're aware of having created the account User:Maeveg, which in my opinion probably arose from a typo). But I would still like to give them one more chance, considering what I told them on the page. Do you mind if I unblock? I'll keep an eye on them. Bishonen | talk 13:23, 14 May 2014 (UTC).
- I don't mind. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 13:26, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Page protection
Hi MS. Your talkpage has become a bit of a stomping ground for 1abacada's socktroll army this afternoon, and since you haven't been around for a couple of hours I've taken the liberty of semi-protecting the page for a day. Obviously I won't object in the slightest if you choose to remove the protection on your return. All the best, Yunshui 雲水 14:09, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
Starting a slow, thorough, major revision of the Organic Chemistry article
I wanted to call your attention to it, so you might be aware, as an editor/admin that has acted there. I have placed Talk section notes for the past year or two, without any response or comment.
I will nevertheless proceed slowly, and using only the best sources. (I am a professional medicinal/org chemist with doctoral level training, and both industry and academic professional experience.)
Let me know of any concerns. I wish to make progress, but at first sign of edit warring, I will depart the article, for good. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 14:50, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

Sock tagging
Hi MS. Would it be a great inconvenience to the project if we didn't tag the accounts that the 1abacada vandal has created? It's quite clear from his actions that he's collecting these as a sort of graffiti tagging, so if possible we should WP:DENY this. There's some recent discussion on my talk page: happy to discuss there if you want. —SMALLJIM 22:19, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
- Personally, I don't mind (in this case; non-tagging as a policy should be discussed with the community), especially if this would make you feel better. Cheers. Materialscientist (talk) 11:49, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- Oh it's not that – I have a pretty thick hide! But when recognition (in this case, by lists of tagged accounts) is so obviously what a vandal is seeking, we need to consider whether the maintenance of such lists is actually encouraging the vandalism to continue. That's true even if the vandal is only tagging pages because he's aware of and gets a hit from the dilemma that it creates; and if we speculated that if the tagging was stopped then he'd look for some other means of gaining attention, we'd probably not be wrong. And so it would go on...
- It may be possible to sidestep all this by employing WP:RBI / WP:DENY. It would need cooperation and vigilance, of course, and it isn't a quick fix – one would expect an increase in activity at first as the vandal jumps up and down shouting "Look at me!" – but it has worked in the past.
- Now I'm sure this has been suggested to you before and I'm not naive enough to expect immediate adoption of the principle, nor am I committed enough to start a large-scale community discussion; I just want to put forward this alternative approach to some of those who've been pursuing the same course for a long time. —SMALLJIM 14:08, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
Would you take a look at Transition Metal Dichalcogenide monolayers. I dont like articles like this because they always seem like self-promotion and recentism, but in any case, the links look like copyright violations. The images are so deluxe that I worry about their source too. Thanks, --Smokefoot (talk) 17:30, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
- Self-promotion and recentism - yes, possibly, but I don't see clear copyright issues with text and figures. Atomic structures aside, images are linked to their source articles, where they are similar, but not to the point of copyright violation. Most links are to Arxiv, which is acceptable. Materialscientist (talk) 04:48, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for your advice. Some points:
- 1) I did not realize that pdf's of copyrighted articles can be be made freely available. Would seem to have revolutionary implications for Wikipedia, since so many readers are prevented from reading papers by "paywalls".
- 2) I guess that for specialized areas, if someone decides to write a very specialized review, there is not a lot we can do.
- 3) I guess is no way to force such authors to have real user pages to describe themselves and clarify self-promotion or COI.
Best wishes, --Smokefoot (talk) 13:30, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

- I found the (massive) discussion. But don't you consider it odd now that you've moved Common Tern to Common tern and yet the entire article and references use Common Tern? And by "sentence case" I assume all mid-sentence uses of "Common Tern" should now say "common tern"? Frankly, the inconsistency now introduced across many zillions of articles looks stupid. Not to mention that two of the examples of this at WP:Birds actually use capitals per IOC... The Rambling Man (talk) 09:42, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Here is the RFC. I know some hard-working editors who decapitalize the body texts, but there are fewer admins who can move over redirects (which is required in most cases), thus the priority for admins is move, but I fix the body texts too when time permit. - No, this is a long-term abuse case (LTA), where a good-faith editor is disrupting a wide range of animal-related articles, using various IPs, by designing a network of implausible or/and inexistent categories. Some of their edits are constructive. You can talk to user:Apokryltaros for further details. Materialscientist (talk) 23:32, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- This particular IP has been making unconstructive edits in the form of inserting inappropriate categories, like "photograph needed" for articles where the only existing photographs are of fragments and are copyrighted, or inserting information of dubious quality, often original research or plagiarisms, and inserting empty sections with no attempt to fill them. In addition to being totally unresponsive to messages and warnings from other editors. So, in other words, this anonymous editor was blocked not because it was anonymous, but because it was making messes in several articles, leaving other editors to clean up.--Mr Fink (talk) 00:55, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
Have you seen this?[2],[3] Is there an article in the works? This is pretty cool. Doc talk 04:15, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. If this is not sheer recentism, and there is enough material to write a substantial article then I'll write it today-tomorrow. As usual, news are self-serving and exaggerate the novelty and importance. Materialscientist (talk) 04:29, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree it's best not to get too excited until the data is really "all" there. Fleischmann–Pons comes to mind, (and the recent stem cell acid washing thing). But IBM is claiming this?! If this is all true: think of the possibilities! With 3D printing technology evolving now, this is potentially just astounding. I haven't seen a lot of solid scientific sources on it yet,[4] so the recentism concern is very understandable. Cheers :) Doc talk 06:37, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

Article moves
Hi Materialscientist;
When you moved American Crow, you didn't move Talk:American Crow, probably because the target page was edited in 2012. In such cases, Wikipedia:How_to_fix_cut-and-paste_moves may apply in that it may be appropriate to merge the page histories. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk)
- Strange, wikisoftware didn't tell me that the move didn't complete. Thanks to Anthony Appleyard for fixing that. I couldn't quickly find how to restore the Peer Review link, but this is a minor issue as the review is short and is from 2006. Materialscientist (talk) 22:01, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- A 2006 Peer Review link may be safely neglected, I think. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 01:19, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Hey there, I just saw you reverted my edit on the article for the flame page. Why do you feel that it was necessary to revert it? Is there not a debate on the question of plasma vs. flame? Author pushing his name
materialscientist, I have seen you around dependably correcting my errors, thank you ! and finally realized you are an administrator. Please help in a small mater of self promotion by an Argentinian author named Maximiliano Korstanje dark tourism:
190.231.120.14, and 190.229.173.132, changed the section Psychology, Philosophy and Anthropology on three occasions by inserting Maximiliano Korstanje prominently at the beginning of the section: First 190.231.120.14 on April 6 here and here and then 190.229.173.132 on April 17, the day after I had removed Korstanje's name here, and on April 20 here, and here The name pushing for M. Korstanje now by a third IP address 190.2.54.42 continued on April 24 [5]
There is no Wikipedia page on Maximiliano Korstanje, and there wont be one in the forseeable future, given lack of notability, so the wikilink is unjustified. Second, when I edited the page in March and wrote most of whats on the page today, I carefully examined the cited references. I am of the opinion, that the 2 referenced publications of Korstanje are mediocre, at best. The first one is so poor, that it is borderline to even include it. I really should have deleted them. Detailed reasons are in the text.
Why would 3 unregistered Wikipedia users ( single purpose) want to give Korstanje that prominence? On 21 April 2014 I asked this on the talk page, no response. The fact that these unregistered editors insist on merely this edit, makes me suspect that the same person is behind all 3 IP addresses, and that it may be Maximiliano Korstanje. That would pose a COI, which should be declared. I see self-promotion, by giving undue emphasis, which violates WP:SELFCITE and WP:SELFPROMOTE.
BTW ALso similar selfpromotion on fear with a very bad sounding article, that I just cant access to examine. Where to register concerns? its not BLP, maybe RS ? I dont want to continue the patternCan you do something? Thanks.--Wuerzele (talk) 19:30, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

The same IP, however, wrote a message on the Teahouse, saying that he didn't know why he was blocked. Or she. And it turned out that the IP address may be shared with other people which caused vandalism on this website. I hope you understand. I don't know what to do about it, but I thank you for helping to block other people because they vandalised, but the IP may be an Internet café or a hacked computer. Hello,
I don't understand why this page keeps being reverted. I "talked" with the last admin who was doing this and we cleared it up. Or at least that's what I thought. Here is a letter from the Associate Director of the Program:
To Whom It May Concern,
Thank you for your note. We've noticed that you have been reverting our entry, so thanks for the opportunity to clarify. We posted a brief factual description of the program with a link to the website. Unfortunately, the alternative entry is not accurate and I am not sure where it originated. The curriculum was not created by Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In addition, while we did grant permission for the research study cited, the study has number of factual inaccuracies, some methodological deficiencies and a tiny sample size.
We respectfully request that our entry be allowed to stand and not be replaced with unsubstantiated content. Please feel free to get back to us with any questions.
Thank you,
Naomi Stillman Associate Director, NETA-CET Hebrew College Newton Centre, MA
Can you please bring the page back to what it was before. Like this:
NETA, established in 2001, is a comprehensive Hebrew language program for students in grades 6–12, reaching students in over 120 schools worldwide (http://neta.cet.ac.il/Engschools.aspx). NETA offers a wide variety of primary source materials, adapted texts, language exercises, songs, conversations, art, and movies that speak to teenagers. The curriculum explores Jewish and Israeli culture of diverse historical periods, genres, and media. Grammar and linguistics are integrated with content, and the 4 language skills – reading, writing, listening, and speaking – are emphasized.
In 2011, the NETA program partnered with the Center for Educational Technology (CET), an Israel-based NGO and a leader in educational technology. The program is now called NETA-CET. NETA-CET is engaged in an ongoing development process and is adding new technological applications to Hebrew language education, including a website with new media-rich digital textbooks, learning tools, and online teacher resources.

Not sure why you reverted all the changes I had added. It can't simply be lack of citation as none of the other entries in the bloodlines section have citations. Even if it was that a Citation needed would have been enough to prompt me to add them instead of removing all that I had added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.119.53.233 (talk) 21:53, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi there! I'll just skip the many yet-outstanding awards of barnstars that I imagine you're deserving but may have missed! ;) I see your name a lot. Anyway, I see that you've been tracking this user. See their talk page for the commentary I've written to them, about two articles where they did significant WP:OR and fan-cruft/tabloid commentary, *and* they resubmitted the same contributions again, despite having been undone. I've gone through two pages of edit history so far, and found several instances of WP:OR -- many of which you've undone and many of which I've undone, and probably more that others have undone. But there are also a *lot* of edits which are apparently good or apparently good or non-controversial or innocuous. I don't know, because they're just kinda "there". This could be a really good editor. But my goodness, this is an incredibly prolific amount of content over a short amount of time, and it's hard to follow that trail. What should be done? Thanks for everything you do! — Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 06:24, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
- Edit: Oh my. I just finished combing the person's entire history, and I waved at you along the way. I can only hope that the hundred or so edits to various songs' credits are accurate. You know.... they let just *anyone* edit this whole thing. — Smuckola (Email) (Talk) 18:04, 24 May 2014 (UTC)
- @Materialscientist: Hey there bro. He's just blasting wikipedia with a firehose of unsourced information, some basic and innocuously helpful, and some grotesque. He does a lot of helpful output, such as tedious categories, but he's also a warpath of WP:OR, uncited stuff, and overkill of categories and credits. Nonstop, all day, every day. He doesn't respond to any Talk page messages, if he even bothers to see them. Isn't the only thing to be done, to block him for a while to get his attention? Vandalism by User:ThaThinThaKiThaTha
Greetings. This user has been engaging in persistently reverting edits and edit-warring on the Padmanabhaswamy Temple page. As regards the mention of the temple in extant Hindu texts, I have put up some information in the "Early references" section of the page, with citations from hindu.com and indianscriptures.com among others. This is alluding to the mention of the temple in existing Puranas i.e. This user has been reverting on the basis of criteria for RS again and again. The last time he reverted was for a less known site which is still understandable. But this time too as though its he who decides what site is reliable and what not. Kindly have a look and see and decide for yourself. Regards. SumerianPrince (talk) 17:32, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

"My Life In Hell (Creek Formation)"
Can I get your help at Hell Creek Formation? An ip-editor, 42.82.202.152 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), placed a large amount of pictures in the article over the period of several weeks, but, I removed most of these pictures as there too many, some placements strongly suggests original research (i.e., identifying indeterminate genera with modern animals, identifying fossils with very distant living relatives, placing reconstructions of Asian genera) while others are just nonsensical (i.e., putting in a picture of apple flowers for no given reason). However, I gave justifications for my removal, the ip promptly restored all of the pictures, and does not appear to be interested in justifying its choice of pictures. Perhaps you could help convince it to communicate without editwarring?--Mr Fink (talk) 15:02, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

Why not?
Why should I stop. Arbcom has already broken every policy that matter and the community doesn't care so why should I pay attention? Kumiokosock4 (talk) 01:01, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
- Because by breaking some policies you're annoying too many people on this wiki, even those who never wanted to get involved like myself. Materialscientist (talk) 01:03, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
- By your rants like the one just removed above you're pissing off people who had respect to your contribution to this project. I started talking to you only because of that respect, but I am not going to reply anymore. Understand that many people don't care at all about your squabble with arbs. Materialscientist (talk) 01:29, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'm sorry you think I'm just ranting. I feel I am discussing valid complaints of abuse. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally I wish people were more worried about the members of arbcom, with all the tools and access to everything who have shown a willingness to violate even the most revered of all policies to get their goals. As for having respect for my contributions, I appreciate that, I really do, but I cannot contribute if I am banned and if you don't want to do anything to change that or reply to me that's fine with me. As you can and have seen, I can easily create another account or use another IP. Personally I would prefer to stick with one account and I have stated that repeatedly. But the Arbcom wants to continue to vilify my actions even when I do nothing at all, so it doesn't matter if I abide by my ban or not. Also, I could easily create a new account and hide but I have deliberately stated how I am because I want people to know who said it. I have no desire to hide nor should I have too. If the community wanted me to stop socking, they would do something about the abusive and corrupt admins and arbs that have continuously violated policy. They are counting on people not getting involved. Now you can go ahead and do what they want you to do and block this account. Its ok, I can make hundreds more if needed. I am not the author of this page, but I work as her assistant and she asked that I work on getting it taken down ASAP. Her reputation as a doctor is compromised due to this inaccurate article. HI:)
heeey im mr sock puppettier
User Bdbbfbfbfb
I'm sorry to have to ask you if you could follow up on this, but I'm chronically ill and can't manage it. You reverted one of his unreferenced edits of Satanic Verses, but a few minutes later he came back and made two more.
Bdbbfbfbfb made edits only on one day, in four articles (if I counted right), with multiple edits per article. Is he a POV-y sockpuppet? I don't know. To show you a good example of the problems he can cause, he reversed the meaning of Line 78 (I think—I'm foggy-headed right now) without adding a new, supporting reference and he left the old reference there, "supporting" something it doesn't support.
I may succeed in undoing his good faith edits or I might fall asleep. :) But even awake, this ramble might be as far as I can take this before my mind wanders even more off-topic. So, I hope to have cause to give you TIA.
Thanks as well for your STiki work! --Geekdiva (talk) 08:00, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

Ariaveeg
Hello,
1-About Alcohol i added the persian word for it because this word is derived from the actual word alcol in persian (and later arabic) but it was discovered by the tenth-century Persian alchemist al-Razi and he named it alcol.
2-About sulphuric acid again i added the persian word because oil of vitriol is derived from the persian term which when sulphuric acid had been discovered by persian scientists like Jābir ibn Hayyān (c. 721 – c. 815 AD), Razi (865 – 925 AD) they put this name on it.
3-About basmati it is a rice from north india and Pakistan and widely used in Iran also (and in all of these countries persian is also being spoken) therefore there should be the persian name for it also.
Thank you, Ariaveeg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ariaveeg (talk • contribs) 21:22, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Collagen
Hi I just read your wiki on the protein collagen. As i understand it, step 6 in the synthesis of collagen(3) in the body is prohibited by the lack of Lysyl oxidase with patients with eds. Is there any other enzymes in the body that keep the collagen from being complete?
This is ofcourse a genetic disorder which means that supplement of collagen in eds-patiens will have little or no effect since the body will break down the collagen into amino acids. Which will make the collagen production as lousy as before except youll have the necessary aminos.
Just out of curiosity and im neither a doctor or a chemist. But say you could get collagen to be produced normally with a lysyl oxidase supplement, or simply a collagen supplement together with a short acting Trypsin-inhibitor?
Am i way over my head? :)

Asking for third opinion on Eritrea
Hi, I've noticed that you are a common contributor/editor on the Eritrea page. I have experienced some issues with a user that do not want to remove picture of two ethic groups on the page. Eritrea has nine official ethnic groups. I have suggested to add picture's of all of the groups or simply remove the two existing since it is not fair to have only two groups. An option would be to add a picture that i suggested, of famous Eritreans in the US diaspora [11]since they are not representing any ethnic group. I'm trying to have a discussion with the user user:Middayexpress with no success. The full discussion can be found in the Eritrea talk page. [12]
Can you please assist us in this matter? That would be appreciated.(Vetrisimino0 (talk) 17:24, 5 June 2014 (UTC)).
- User:Materialscientist: The situation is explained in its proper context here. The new Vetrisimino0 account appears to be a sock of the blocked User:Hiyob346. Hiyob346 periodically takes exception to the Saho women pic, and similarly obsesses over Eritrea's cuisine links with neighboring countries [13]. This new account has also been revert-warring on my userpage despite WP:HUSH ([14]). Middayexpress (talk) 17:39, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
- Seems like plain accusations. I have added information in the History section of Eritrea, tried to remove the tigrinya-saho pictures to not offend different ethnic groups, but also tried to correct wrong information in two other pages. These are the [15] and the [16]. The things I did remove lacked sources, was wrong or either not specific, that's why i tried to edit the text. You seem to track my every post and edit. Should I unblock now? The problem is being solved by cleaning the lists and people helping in reverting. I won't resume the task until I get more assurance the lists are clean. -- Magioladitis (talk) 21:58, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
- I think the whole task is designed incorrectly - someone (erroneously) decided that given articles belong to a given project, this is fine, we all make mistakes. What is wrong is propagating those mistakes with a bot. I would appreciate a community take on this matter before resuming the task (I haven't returned to this yet - maybe it is mostly fixed now, I saw some other editors reverting yesterday). Materialscientist (talk) 22:07, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I reverted some and I asked GoingBatty to help too. I very often get into troubles with this task. It is always the broken category tree and people overlooking it. I am responding to your message regarding the "Oso mudslide" page. If you would please replace my deleted contribution, I will add references as appropriate. I would like to note that I am a licensed professional geologist in the state of Washington, and portions of my contribution are based on "common knowledge" among scientists and engineers in the field of landslide geology and geotechnical engineering. My employer prohibits me from contributing to wikipedia under a recognizable identity for loss prevention purposes, however I would like to contribute whatever I can to improve the accuracy of the information presented on the page. Despite numerous references cited in the current embodiment of the article, it contains a host of inaccuracies and misleading information that I wish to help rectify. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have questions or concerns.

Disruptive IP editor
There's a rather disruptive IP editor who's edit warring on film-related articles. He's a genre warrior who will not compromise, discuss, or even use edit summaries. He seems to use a range of IP addresses, but the one I've had the most contact with is 90.205.208.98 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). I've tried to compromise with him, but he's apparently not in the mood for that. I've left a non-templated message on his talk page, but I doubt that he'll pay any attention; he's ignored the other templated messages I've left. Dealing with this IP editor is incredibly frustrating, and I think some kind of administrative intervention may be required. Earlier, you semi-protected a page that he was edit warring on, Flaming Brothers (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), and now he's right back at it again. He's also edit warring at Puncture Wounds (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) and apparently several other articles. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 08:58, 12 June 2014 (UTC)
- As expected, the IP editor has ignored my message and is continuing his edit warring unabated. He is now changing sourced text, such as in I Come in Peace (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), where he is insistent on changing the film's budget to a value contradicted by the source. What can be done about this editor? He's edit warring across a wide variety of film-related articles, and discussions on his talk page are not helping any. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 07:02, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- I've blocked 90.205.208.98 for 36 hours, for starters. Materialscientist (talk) 07:07, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for the swift action. I'll continue to try to make contact with him, but I don't think he's feeling very talkative (or collaborative). NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 07:33, 13 June 2014 (UTC)
- The IP editor seems to have moved to 94.7.102.30 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) in violation of his block to continue his disruptive editing. I also found this sockpuppet investigation, which looks related. It fits his M.O., but the discussion seems to have died around 2012. Should I move my concerns over to that sock puppet investigation? If this is the same person, then he's got a long history of disruptive editing and blocks. A header like this attracts my attention. I was recently told that I have to make a request on the talk before changing the ref style where I am the major contributor, in other words: I may not improve references (that I may have done in a rush) without the blessing of the community. What do you think of that? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 00:00, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- That sounds - and forgive me, Materialscientist, for intruding on your page - like something for the article talk page or some more general forum, dear Gerda. Happy to join in the discussion there, Tim riley talk 00:09, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
- Gerda, this clearly depends on what has been done with refs after you - if someone spent much effort on tidying them then you might need to consult with those editors, if not then you don't have to ask anyone. Materialscientist (talk) 01:44, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Request to check a Requested Move please
Hi,
I have examined the issue discussed here Talk:Karoo_Cape_tortoise#Requested_move and previously Talk:Boulenger's Cape tortoise and have made a comment suggesting it be closed, and all the species of the group be moved to scientific names and common names, a multitude of them, be made into redirects. This has been discussed on a number of occasions with no result and I think the best course is the one I proposed. However I am not an admin, nor am I completely neutral. So was hoping you would take a look and if you agree close the discussion. I am doubtful it will be any different to previous attempts. Thank you, Faendalimas talk 16:56, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Unnecessary page move
Hi Materialscientist, I noticed that the title of this page Rum Pum Pum Pum was recently moved to Cheo Sarangni Rum Pum Pum Pum by editor User talk:In ictu oculi. However, I find this change in the title very unnecessary. The title was fine before it was moved. I tried to change it back, but I don't have the rights to do it. Can you take a look? Thanks--TerryAlex (talk) 01:20, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- Moved back (with a glitch on the way, sorry). Materialscientist (talk) 01:24, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- You might want to take a look at some of In ictu oculi's contributions. For example, Best...I was moved to The Smiths Best... I, or 17 Super Exitos to Selena: 17 Super Éxitos as well as some other articles. I think the adding of the artist's name to the title is unnecessary, but I don't have any knowledge regarding the album's name nor the artist, so you might want to take a look and see if some of those pages' moves were necessary. Thanks --TerryAlex (talk) 01:33, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- User:TerryAlex. Thanks for the ping. Admittedly some of these titles are unclear, in this case we could regard Selena as not part of the title and just call it "17 Hits" but the sources, such as they are, and these are barely sourced, barely notable stubs, seem to indicate that the name of the artist in these 2 cases is actually intended to be part of the album description. "17 Hits" for a mundane compilation album is not exactly recognisable. However if anyone wants to revert, please go ahead. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:38, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- In ictu oculi just trying to make Wikipedia better :). As I said, I have no knowledge regarding those albums nor the artists, so I cannot say for sure. However, Rum Pum Pum Pum was definitely unnecessary :). The Korean title can be indicated within the article. The title should just stay by its English name.
- Materialscientist, you forgot to move the talk page of Rum Pum Pum Pum back as well. Thanks so much --TerryAlex (talk) 01:55, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) No problem. Given the lack of sourcing in these articles anyone could be wrong, based on a quick Google or Google Book... I think with the Korean songs you're right that the main issue is in the actual lead. Too many of Korea/Japan songs have dubious English titles translated by blogs, and fail to mention the song is actually sung in Korean or Japanese language not English. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:56, 16 June 2014 (UTC)
- User:In ictu oculi Rum Pum Pum Pum is a well-known Korean song, so anyone googling the song up will go with that title :).--TerryAlex (talk) 02:04, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

Hello. You blocked the IP as "likely a school based on behavior", so I thought I'd drop you a line about C2K Ext Gen Services, Belfast, the ISP the IP belongs to. C2k is a government service that provides internet connections to schools all over Northern Ireland so the IP is a school IP, which is why I added a school IP tag to the talk page a while ago, after reverting vandalism made by them. I probably could have been a bit clearer though, adding a note about what C2k is. Cheers. Thomas.W talk 11:00, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

To alleged original research on the capacitor
Dear Materialscientist
I admit that I do not have the information I edited, directly out of a textbook, but that is because I did not need to look it up, because it is trivial. Now I know that might sound arrogant, but I think we all are experts in specific fields, and since I happen to finish my master in physics at the LMU in Germany, the basic physical concepts behind the phenomenon of capacity, as described by classical electrodynamics, are rather simple for me. Of course that does not mean that I am right, but If you allow for the sentence
"The capacitance is a function only of the physical dimensions (geometry) of the conductors and the permittivity of the dielectric."
which for me does not include the fact, that the distance between the two conductors plays an important role, and which is not quoted as well (not mentioning the strange equivalence between the physical dimensions of a body and the geometrical form of a body), then I feel it a pity, and a little irrational, that you completely delete the explanation for that statement. A lot of younger students and people in general, seem to have problems with understanding the governing principles behind capacity (the same was true for me some time ago), Therefore I thought it necessary to spend some time on showing the rather simple reason behind. If I might add, the german wikipedia community approved of my completion, though I have to admit that I had a different wording there.
I took the freedom to again edit a part of the english wikipedia article on capacitance. This time I put the physical explanation in the Capacitors part, so as to not overload the introduction, and also changed the wording (the part about the billions of electrons locating in dependence of the geometry was maybe a little overdone).
Best wishes

Golden Horn Metro Bridge - I have measured main span (between the towers) on satellite image, it's only 190 m long. 460 m - it is length between shores, but there are other supporting columns in water.
Zakim Bridge - in it's own article is written, longest span is only 227 m, and i have proofed on satellite image, it is true.

Please restore original hook in DYK now on main page
I'd like to ask that this change, made to a DYK set (now on MP) when it was in prep -- just an hour before you promoted the set to Q -- be reverted on MP, so that the hook appear as approved on the nom page. The original hook was
- ... that Cambridge sank in the 1978 University Boat Race?
-- but in the hour before you promoted the set to Q it was changed to
- ... that the Cambridge boat sank during the 1978 University Boat Race?
This change was inappropriate. Hooks are meant to be fun, and are allowed to manifest what might otherwise be considered an "error" -- and even that's not clear in this case -- if it's obviously self-conscious wordplay. The edit summary for this change [25]
- Shoot the approver and crucify the admin. I'm too busy to pull this hook. Can someone please do this and then rant about how perfect they are on the talk page
makes it obvious that this is childish payback to The Rambling Man (the nominator of the original hook [26]]) for the justified exasperation -- possibly too bluntly stated -- he has expressed recently at WP:TDYK at the very high volume of true errors, which really do embarrass Wikipedia, which either have appeared, or almost appeared, on the Main Page recently. Please restore the original hook on MP.
EEng (talk) 00:18, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- Not convincing, especially given your request to start a wheelwar. Hooks are meant to be fun only on April the 1st - while I was also in favor of interesting and quirky hooks, the long history of DYK discussions shows that most editors prefer factual correctness (note that, e.g., ru.wiki has a different take on this). In short, I'd prefer to have some community consensus for this change. Materialscientist (talk) 00:58, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- By fun I'm sure I mean the same thing as you do when you say interesting and quirky -- nothing intentionally misleading a la April 1, which I dislike. Nor am I suggesting that anything factually inaccurate should be tolerated. The original hook is neither of those -- "Cambridge sank during the University Boat Race" is only a shade beyond a common expression such as "Chelsea scored a last-minute point" and completely of a piece with "Richard Nixon sent Home some dirt", which appeared on DYK recently.
- Anyway, my point precisely is that hooks shouldn't get last-minute changes, with little chance for others to comment, just before being shipped off to MP -- which is what's happened here, and what I'm asking you to undo.
- If you don't want to make the change, fine, but what wheelwar are you talking about? I haven't the foggiest idea. EEng (talk) 01:29, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- Victuallers is one of the most experienced DYK admins around. DYK admins act at will, and in good faith. I need a good reason (consensus) to revert such a change (which is intentional and is not a glitch). Materialscientist (talk) 01:52, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- It would never have occurred to me that V was an admin. He made a change to a prep set which you moved to Q soon after, putting it out of my reach. Since you're an admin I came to you to fix it and, again, it didn't occur to me that V even has that capacity. So no wheelwar.
I think it's stretching the principle of AGF to invoke it in the face of V's edit summary quote in my OP above. EEng (talk) 02:13, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- As it stands now, this is a matter of personal preference between you and Victuallers, which gives me no reason to revert Victuallers, and this I've tried to tell you above. Materialscientist (talk) 02:28, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

The Rambling Man (talk) 06:57, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- That's obviously true, but I want to address Materialscienctist's idea that this is an issue of personal preference between V and me -- it's not that, but rather an issue between V and everyone else. When I find what I believe is a fact problem with a hook, I pull it out so that it can cycle back for public reconsideration -- that way, if I'm wrong it can be confirmed for appearance after all, and if I'm right a new hook will be the work of more editors than just me. Either way I'm not substituting my judgment for that of others except to the temporary extent of saying, "Please pause for a moment."
In contrast, in this situation V made an angry, pointy change to a hook at the eleventh hour, and suddenly his version was on MP without, apparently, anyone else knowing it had been made. He therefore imposed his opinion in permanent substitution of everyone else's. That's why I made the request here. EEng (talk) 12:43, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
