Early life and education

Kiran Bedi was born in Amritsar, Punjab, India. She was awarded a BA degree by the Government College for Women, Amritsar in 1968.She has been a National and an Asian Tennis champion. She has been Best Athlete, won honors in debates, declamations and dramatics. She was also awarded Best cadet – National Cadet Corps (NCC) in her college and Also Awarded the All Rounder Trophy.

These are a few of Kiran's personal landmarks on the tennis courts -

1. All-India intervarsity tennis title for three years running, with her younger sister Reeta Peshawaria.
2. Junior National Lawn Tennis Championship held at Amritsar, Punjab in 1966.
3. Asian Lawn Tennis Championship held at Pune, Maharashtra in 1972.
4. All-India Hard Court Tennis Championship in 1974.
5. All India Interstate Women's Lawn Tennis Championship held at New Delhi in 1975.
6. National Women's Lawn Tennis Championship at Chandigarh in 1976.
7. Many Zonal and State lawn tennis championships all over the country from 1965 to 1978.
8. Represented India twice against Sri Lanka and won the Lionel Fonseka Memorial Trophy for the country.
9. The first-ever women's festival sports title for Delhi in 1976 bagging three gold and two silver medals with her younger sister Anu Peshawaria.

She then earned a Master’s degree in Political Science from Punjab University, Chandigarh, graduating at the top of her class in 1970. She later obtained Bachelor of Laws in 1988 from Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. In 1993, she obtained a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the Department of Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi where the topic of her thesis was 'Drug Abuse and Domestic Violence'.

In computing, a data warehouse (DW, DWH), or an enterprise data warehouse (EDW), is a sysem used for reporting and data analysis. Integrating data from one or more disparate sources creates a central repository of data, a data warehouse (DW). Data warehouses store current and historical data and are used for creating trending reports for senior management reporting such as annual and quarterly comparisons.

Different types of systems:

Data Mart: A data mart is a simple form of a data warehouse that is focused on a single subject (or functional area), such as Sales, Finance, or Marketing. Data marts are often built and controlled by a single department within an organization. Given their single-subject focus, data marts usually draw data from only a few sources. OLAP (On Line Analytical Processing) is characterized by relatively low volume of transactions. Queries are often very complex and involve aggregations. For OLAP systems a response time is an effectiveness measure. OLAP applications are widely used by Data Mining techniques. In OLAP database there is aggregated, historical data, stored in multi-dimensional schemas (usually star schema). OLAP would have data latency typically in few hours as opposed to data mart where latency is expected to be closer to one day. OLTP (On Line Transaction Processing ) Also called Decision Support Systems is characterized by a large number of short on-line transactions (INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE). The main emphasis for OLTP systems is put on very fast query processing, maintaining data integrity in multi-access environments and an effectiveness measured by number of transactions per second. In OLTP database there is detailed and current data, and schema used to store transactional databases is the entity model (usually 3NF).

Predictive Analysis: Predictive analytics is about finding and quantifying hidden patterns in the data using complex mathematical models that can be used to predict future outcomes. Predictive analysis is different from OLAP in terms of OLAP is focused on historical data analysis and is reactive in nature while Predictive analysis is focused on future. These systems are also used for CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
