Split Category:RuPaul's Drag Race contestants by season?

[edit]

Category:RuPaul's Drag Race contestants now has 189 members, and a logical way to split them is by which season(s) they were a contestant on. I don't think any of the created subcats would have less than 6 entries.Naraht (talk) 03:59, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t think that’s a bad idea. Cornmazes (talk) 13:08, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not a bad idea, but at the same time, I'd hate to see you and other project members do the work to create all the subcategories only for someone from WikiProject Television to say that's wrong or whatever. Are you aware of any examples of TV shows with subcategories for contestants? Or, would it be worth asking if creating subcategories is appropriate over at WikiProject Television? ---Another Believer (Talk) 13:44, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Let me see what I can find. If I can't find, I'll ask over on WP:TV.Naraht (talk) 23:40, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am also curious if there are some shows with navigation templates for specific seasons. For RuPaul's Drag Race (US), we're getting to a point where there are Wikipedia entries for almost every contestant and every episode (season 4 to present), which make me wonder if templates like Template:RuPaul's Drag Race season 4, Template:RuPaul's Drag Race season 5, etc, would be helpful. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:24, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also think that would be helpful since the series does have 16 seasons, with almost 200 notable episodes. I'll check some other templates and see how they're stylized. Is it Juan? (talk) 14:44, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Another Believer, I combined the seasons and episodes, I'm not sure if that's what you were thinking? It's based on the Modern Family template; we can spawn a different template for just episodes e.g. Grey's Anatomy template. Let me know! Is it Juan? (talk) 15:52, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Went back and checked WP:TV, and got directed to WP:NARROWCAT, which I don't think applies. I'll start with Season 1 and make a subcat.Naraht (talk) 15:01, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Created. Another Believer started moving queens before I did. :) I'd like to leave it as just Season 1 for a bit, if no one has thrown any objections in a few days, I'll do the rest. As a guide to creating categories, if there are 6 (number picked to be sure it stays large enough), that aren't redirects to the season, I'll create a subcat. I think that would give us every US season from 1-16, all of the US all-star seasons and a few foreign seasons.Naraht (talk) 15:15, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

For tracking purposes:

Fine. :)Naraht (talk) 15:30, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Winners

[edit]

In my opinion, since the winners category is *not* a subcat of the individual seasons, the winning queens *should* be in the category for the season they were in, even if they didn't belong in the bigger overall contestant category.Naraht (talk) 15:58, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, winners should also be in season-specific categories. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:00, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Missed that Nymphia Wind was ordered under W. Not sure on that either way. Do they even have an English Language non-drag name?Naraht (talk) 16:06, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed the sort at Nymphia Wind. Having to correct the sorting for drag performers all the time is so annoying. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:11, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Winners done, easiest way to make sure there was at least one in the non S17 cats, so we didn't have to worry about an empty cat.

Kelly Passa!?

[edit]

Can someone please double check me that the spelling of the Drag Queen in DR España ends in an exclamation point followed by a question mark rather than the other way around? I'm pretty sure it is true, but the Spanish language page had them mostly in the other order (question mark followed by exclamation point). All of this is actually sort of surprising to me since I expected that a pun in Spanish would use the inverted signs at the beginning as well.Naraht (talk) 01:48, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
