Talk:Michael_Cusack#Requested_move_27_January_2022. The Banner talk 23:31, 27 January 2022 (UTC)

Could you help to redirect the links to Young Irelands GAA shown at Disambig fix list for Young Irelands GAA. Many of these appear to be to a series of Kilkenny Hurling Championships, but after the move of Young Irelands GAA to Young Irelands GAA (Gowran) they now take the reader to a disambiguation page. I do not know enough to send the reader to the right article.— Rod talk 14:58, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

User script to detect unreliable sources

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like

  • John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.)

and turns it into something like

It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.

The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.

Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.

Caltra GAA Redirect

I made a mistake when moving the page Caltra GAC to Caltra GAA, I accidentally created Caltra GA and I made a bit of a mess of it. I moved all the content from Caltra GA to Caltra GAA but I am not sure if I have done it correctly, the talk pages are redirecting to the wrong page, and was wondering if anyone a bit better at this sort of thing would be able to fix it if I've made some mistakes.

Thanks Cavan121012 (talk) 18:21, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

That will need fixing alright. That cut/paste activity means that the history/copyright/credit is "lost". Which is undesirable. Ideally you wouldn't try and "fix it" yourself. Please follow the instructions at WP:CUTPASTE to request help from an admin. You'll need to tag the "new" article. Per "Fixing cut-and-paste moves#Instructions for tagging a page for history merging". Cheers. Guliolopez (talk) 20:34, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for your response, I think I have the article tagged correctly, just need to wait for an admin to do it. Thanks for your help Cavan121012 (talk) 22:16, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

CFD discussion about Gaelic Games

FYI, there is a CFD open about possibly renaming lots of categories related to gaelic games. The discussion is Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2022 November 9#Category:GAA people by province, would be good to get the views of people with subject knowledge. Hurling abbreviations

In articles like 2007 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, I see abbreviations I can't find definitions for. They seem to have something to do with points or goals. Does anyone know what these mean after numbers? "f", "s/l", "fs", "l/b". Are "f" and "fs" the same as "free" and "frees"? -- Beland (talk) 21:36, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

I know that "f" is for "free" and "s/l" is "sideline". I'm presuming that "fs" is "frees" though I haven't seen that one used. "l/b" appears to be "line ball" which is another word for sideline. I have changed the "l/b" to "s/l" in that example for consistency. Cavan121012 (talk) 22:30, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
@Cavan121012: Awesome, thank you so much! -- Beland (talk) 04:02, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
