1714 revolt of Chameria article has been nominated for deletion. Anyone who has anything to say should point to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/1714 revolt of Chameria. kedadial 14:36, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
I was surprised to see Vrana Konti article redirecting me to League of Lezhë. How did it happened and could anyone fix it. I would like to comment that many articles related to that period are very poor. I will try to fix something on that period tomorrow. Aigest (talk) 20:09, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Corrected it myself Aigest (talk) 21:59, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi, can somebody expand these new stubs? Starzynka (talk) 15:50, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
- There is plenty of material here for new articles. Starzynka has done an awesome job. --Sulmues Let's talk 17:00, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Template of invitation to new users:
If there are new users please send this invite to them Template:Albania-Invite. Follow instructions there. --Sulmues Let's talk 16:08, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- Sulmues, thanks for the template. I made a question in template's talkpage. Can you take a look? Cheers. kedadial 16:40, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed and changed as per your suggestion. --Sulmues Let's talk 17:00, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
It seems that there are two articles that cover the same topic, Besa (Albanian culture) and Besa oath. I suggest to merge Besa oath to Besa (Albanian culture) and then delete it. What do you think? Cheers. kedadial 22:23, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
- Support the merge as proposed. Good catch and no need to put any merge tabs in the articles as this WP talk page is more than sufficient for many Albanians who are knowledgable of the besa institution to create consensus. --Sulmues Let's talk 02:31, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
Done. Since no one objected. Merged to Besa (Albanian culture) through [1] and [2]. --Sulmues Let's talk 15:34, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
- Great. Kedadi 18:35, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
WPGR and WPSQ tags
There is an ongoing discussion on WPSQ and WPGR tags in the articles where you might want to contribute with your thoughts. Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Greece#WPSQ_and_WPGR_tags. --Sulmues Let's talk 13:26, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
It seems that there are two articles that cover the same topic, Tirana Stock Exchange and Albanian Stock Exchange. Albanian Stock Exchange is a stub (a one liner) and probably should go away. Cheers. — Kedadi 09:22, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- IMO Albanian Stock Exchange should redirect to Tirana Stock Exchange. It's moslty by cities that the categorization works [[3]] --Sulmues Let's talk 15:37, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, I Agree, a redirect to Tirana Stock Exchange does the job. Cheers. — Kedadi 15:44, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Done. --Sulmues Let's talk 19:47, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Deorphan Albania-related orphaned articles
Added a link to the "How can I contribute to this project?" section of WP:SQ frontpage, which helps to find Albania-related orphaned articles. Cheers. — Kedadi 18:27, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Tagging
Is there a way to automatically tag WPSQ everything that is already WPKS? If it's tagged WPKS, it includes Albanians' interests in Wikipedia, so by definition it may interest both WPSQ and WPKS. I am not proposing a merge of the two Wikiprojects, I'm just saying that whereever we see WPKS we should see WPSQ. What do you think? --Sulmues Let's talk 15:36, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've seen some banners that have a small rider on other templates, kindof like a task force. Best to ask at Template talk:WPBannerMeta about this. –xenotalk 22:16, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
Dino family
I bought the book Abedin Dino: monografi and it has great details about many members of the Dino family and of course about Abedin Dino himself.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 09:50, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
- It'd be good having one main article about the whole family, which could be brought to B and then GA status and then have other articles on each member of the family, who would have C statuses. --Sulmues (talk) 18:30, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

I made the header a little smaller, it was way too big, but let me know if it's not to your liking. --Sulmues (talk) 17:14, 21 July 2010 (UTC)
Albania-Greece relations article.
I made these edits to the article, but I got this awkward reaction from user:Athenean in my talk page. I would like to know the WP's opinion on my edits. --Sulmues (talk) 03:21, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Xenobot Mk V to tag articles in project scope and/or auto-assess unassessed articles
A request has been made to tag & auto-assess articles in the scope of this project based on categories and/or auto-assess the project's unassessed articles.
To auto-assess, Xenobot Mk V (talk · contribs) looks for a {{stub}} template on the article, or inherits the class rating from other project banners (see here for further details).
Feel free to raise any questions or concerns regarding this process. The task will commence after 72 hours if there are no objections.
— Kedadi 20:51, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I compiled a list with Albania-related categories, which is located at Wikipedia:WikiProject Albania/Categories. Xenobot Mk V is going to tag and assess with {{WPSQ}} all articles that fall under these categories. Anyone who is interested, please take a look there. Cheers. — Kedadi 23:31, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- Kedadi, isn't this going to mess up? Is it going to give only a WPSQ, or is it going to give also class and importance? --Sulmues Let's talk 15:38, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- It's going to tag with WPSQ all of them; while rating depends of certain conditions, such as: presence of a stub template on the article, inheriting the importance and category from other WikiProjects, etc. Thereafter, a lot of articles will need to be manually rated. I guess the process will go smooth. Cheers. — Kedadi 21:12, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
- The importance ratings can't be inherited (since different projects necessarily have different scope), but you could split up your category list to have the bot set importance. For example, "Category:Presidents of Albania" might be listed under a high-importance heading, while "Category:University of Tirana alumni" might be put into a low-importance and the bot can set the importance accordingly (see example). The class ratings will be set where possible based on auto-assessing logic. The pages to be tagged are here. –xenotalk 15:19, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- I agree that all 1284 articles be tagged WPSQ. Xeno are you going to do it with your bot? --Sulmues (Talk) 13:19, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, though Kedadi had indicated there were some articles that should be skipped - so I am waiting for this list. –xenotalk 13:29, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
I had a look at the list and there might be very very few of them to be skipped. Kedadi, do you want me to work on reducing the list?Never mind, I saw that Kedadi had already prepared the excluded list. --Sulmues (Talk) 13:34, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
- Done. I've added some articles to WP:WikiProject Albania/Categories that shouldn't be tagged with WPSQ. Cheers. — Kedadi 21:21, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
There are some questions of scope at User:Xenobot/R#WP:ALB (footballers/Northern Epirotes) that could use some input. –xenotalk 18:49, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- Xenobot brought the number of articles tracked (inclusive of categories) to 4,600+, which is a great result! I am thinking that in the mainpage of WP Albania we should add two things similarly to what WP Croatia does: Note when we go past 5000 articles and when we go past 50 DYKs. --Sulmues (talk) 18:31, 20 July 2010 (UTC)
- Task complete. 1724 edits. –xenotalk 18:39, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
Project Illyria and Project Kosovo
I propose that WikiProject Albania be following all that is covered under WikiProject Kosovo and WikiProject Illyria. I am NOT proposing a merge of the projects. I expect WikiProject Kosovo and Illyria to grow over time. However, right now, I propose that each topic that would fall under WP Kosovo and under WP Illyria, be followed up also by WP Albania. WP Albania project is alive and kicking and has 5-6 regulars and almost 5,000 articles under its supervision, whereas WP Kosovo has only one regular (Kedadi) and WP Illyria has none. For practical purposes and historical purposes I propose that the members of this WikiProject ONLY say whether they are PRO or AGAINST having WP Albania track WP Kosovo and WP Illyria articles. As soon as we reach a consensus we'll do a BOT tagging of WPSQ of all the articles already tagged WPKS and WP Illyria. This way we'll have this project track all the articles more easily by a WikiProject that is much more active and care together for articles that are of interest. Your thoughts please. --Sulmues (talk) 19:23, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

WikiProject Albania frontpage changes
Made some changes to the frontpage of our WikiProject: layout, color changes, etc. If you don't like anything, please don't hesitate to say it.
That's it for tonight (well actually morning) as my brain is working with its last remaining cell. Cheers. — Kedaditalk 03:45, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you so much Kedadi! I liked them and I made some others too.
- At this point, can I ask for an autoarchive feature for the talk page? Best practice is to close at 50kb, and we're at 130k, but I think that we should close at 100 threads. We're at 70 now. Your opinions please. --Sulmues (talk) 06:00, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- Btw could you integrate the infobox [4]?--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 18:56, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- I included some of the missing features of the infobox to the main WP:SQ frontpage. I don't know how could we integrate it to the frontpage as we are currently using a format based on frames. Cheers. — Kedaditalk 17:43, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
There are a lot of sources on Albanian polyphonic music like this [5] work by Vasil Tole
and published by UNESCO. Albanian polyphonic music is also the only polyphonic music to be declared an intangible heritage monument by UNESCO. There are too many different genres, a large historiography and many unique individuals from many eras who contributed to the current form of it. A separate article is necessary I think to cover this subject.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 18:19, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- We may create the article based on what we have in Polyphonic song of Epirus and then point to the Main article, Albanian Polyphonic Music. When created it needs to go to DYK, too much material and we need as a WikiProject approach 50 DYKs soon: we're at 39 now, 11 to go. And we have to rename Music of Epirus into Music of Southern Epirus. --Sulmues (talk) 18:37, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Project
Ok, User:Dr. Blofeld, probably the best Wikipedian of all times, gave all of us Albanians a kick in the derriere, by creating today Template:Shkodër and Template:Gjirokastër. He also created stubs for the major buildings of these two cities. Everyone who wants to work on an article please put along his name an article, and start working on it. Afterwards work on getting the wp:DYK co-nom with Dr. Blofeld who will help us in this endeavor, and we are really lucky to have him around us. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I'll help! Let's get this done and bring the DYKs of WP Albania from 30 to 50 by the end of summer, drawing WP Croatia, which in my opinion, is a very nice example to follow! If you don't have time to be involoved in this project, please do not respond to this message, but I would kindly invite you to get involved with at least one article by putting the article's name below. I wanted to mention that the members from Kosovo are particularly thanked for their involvement in this project, and I personally will render the favor by doing the same for WikiProject Kosovo. One last thing: The main reason of sending articles to DYK is that the quality of them is much higher as it is reviewed by experienced editors: I wish I had done that a little earlier with some of my articles. -- Sulmues (talk) 15:04, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Something more about the wp:DYK process, for those who are not familiar with it: In order to go to DYK, the article needs to be brand new and of at least 1500 characters (just characters, not words), or expanded X5 in a maximum of 5 days. It's not that much, please use this tool to calculate the number of characters (words in infoboxes and references are excluded). Please collaborate with Dr. Blofeld, as he is an invaluable resource with DYKs: He has more than 231 DYKs under his belt (see incomplete list User:Dr._Blofeld/DYK) and he is number one in the List_of_Wikipedians_by_article_count, beating even the bots, 59,053 actually: I wanted to verify and it took me an hour to upload:-P. --Sulmues (talk) 14:40, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks Sulmues. Yeah let's beat Croatia and go over 50! I'll continue to gradually create templates to encourage growth of city coverage on here. I'll start one for Tirana later. What I'll do is categorize them in Category:Albanian city templates so you can use them to build up or start articles from. Anybody is welcome to copy the format used in these templates to start articles for an Albanian city or municipality of their choice to build a more comprehensive guide to Albania on here. In fact what I'll do is create some template frames and add as many as I can and invite you all to fill them and build any others. It will take time, so all in good time, no rush. Keep up the good work guys. Central to this is translation from Albanian which is vital for growth of the country on here. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:11, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I'll start the following shortly, the remaining top 9 cities by population. Any help to build these templates with missing landmarks/topics would be welcome. As I say there is no rush but it would be nice to build a comprehensive guide to Albanian cities on here like we have with other places on wikipedia. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:18, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Anything!! Whatever takes your fancy. If you are happier writing about historical events than landmarks/places go for it! This is just a sub project to help build a comprehensive coverage of the major Albanian cities. Perhaps you'd like to also write about historical sites (which can be added to nav templates by municipality... Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:08, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

I expanded a little the list of requested articles Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Albania with some people that are definitively notable for those who like biographies. IMO the potential of Albania related articles at least 10,000 without including the 3000 something settlements in Albania, right now we have almost 5,000. --Sulmues (talk) 18:36, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

- Blofeld is probably the single scariest editor I have every seen. I mean that in a good way, of course. Don't send the cat after me, OK? This group is very lucky to have him working to develop its content. He is 8th all time according to the kind of outdated WP:EDITS page, and will probably beat Bearian comparatively quickly. I am slowly working on getting together lists of periodicals, including all the acceptable online ones, for the various religious and geographical projects I have some involvement with, and I hope to get to this one comparatively soon. With reliable information more easily available to editors, I think we might be able to get more interest and more activity in some of the smaller regional/national projects. And the Vatican-Albania article looks good. John Carter (talk) 17:05, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
WPSQ's first featured article

- Brilliant idea. Albania, Tirana and Skanderbeg (I might also include Albanians and Albanian language) are some of the articles that crossed my mind and that could easily achieve the FA status. Cheers. — Kedaditalk 17:40, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- Skanderbeg. Zjarri, can you please apply first for GA? If someone buys Oliver Jens Schmitt's book on Skanderbeg (Albanian or German) then it's easily FA. --Sulmues (talk) 19:48, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- Seems that there are two books on amazon.de (Skanderbeg: Der neue Alexander auf dem Balkan and Skanderbeg Ritter der Berge). Cheers. — Kedaditalk 20:05, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- The first one is Schmitt's book, the second one is the dvd of the 1953 movie.--Sulmues (talk) 15:04, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
- I might also add that Enver Hoxha article (thanks to Mrdie) seems to be in good shape too (btw failed to get a GA status on 4 May 2010). Cheers. — Kedaditalk 20:10, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

- Nominated Vangjel Meksi [7] and Skanderbeg [8] to Good Article. I am an evolutionist not a revolutionary by nature. We should do things step by step. Before reaching FA status we need GA entries. My hunch is that Skanderbeg still needs some work to reach GA: I'm actually pessimistic about whether it will actually reach GA with this nomination unless we all work hard at it in the next two-three weeks: It'll take some time before it gets reviewed. I am more confident on Vangjel Meksi, as I did that article practically by myself.
- Tirana needs lots of cleanup. We can start working on it and bring it to GA. --Sulmues (talk) 15:25, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- In general FA status is achieved if all important and related secondary contemporary sources are available and used in references. Currently I would focus more on bringing as many articles to GA status (we have ~50 B articles now), and start bringing as many C status articles to B status. --Sulmues (talk) 15:30, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll help out on Skanderbeg for GA. Just tell me what I need to do. Does anyone think Albanian–Venetian War (1447–1448) has any potential for GA? It's not GA right now, but I could work on it.--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 15:21, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Entered some cn's there. I think that there should be no paragraphs without citations and then we should be good to go. Nominated Albanian Venetian War [9] That looks really good actually. --Sulmues (talk) 17:42, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Also, I agree that we need Schmitt's book. I've been trying to get a copy. We also need Kristo Frasheri.--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 15:25, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

GA Status for Gjirokaster
In Talk:Gjirokastër/Archive 1#GA_status I advised how the city may reach GA status. I want to do Gjirokastra first and then Tirana, as the second might be more difficult to reach GA status (much bigger, and the economy, transports, all that stuff are not easy to source). Unreferenced BLPs
Throughout 2010, many Wikipedia editors have worked hard to halve the number of unreferenced biographical articles (UBLPs) from more than 52,000 in January to under 26,000 now. The WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons has assisted in many ways, including helping to setup a bot, which runs daily, compiling lists of all articles that are in both Category:All unreferenced BLPs and have been tagged by a WikiProject. Note that the bot does NOT place unreferenced tags or assign articles to projects - this has been done by others previously - it just compiles a list.
Your Project's list can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Albania/Unreferenced BLPs. Currently you have approximately 104 articles to be referenced. Other project lists can be found at Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons/WikiProjects.
Your assistance in reviewing and referencing these articles is greatly appreciated. We've done a lot, but we still have a long way to go. If you have any questions, please don't hestitate to ask either at WT:URBLP or at my talk page. Thanks, The-Pope (talk) 12:51, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Dhuvjan Monastery
Dhuvjan Monastery could profit from a copyedit by someone who speaks Albanian, see Talk:Dhuvjan Monastery#Questions. The article is currently nominated for DYK and might not make it without improvement. --Pgallert (talk) 15:26, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- Addressed in talk page.--Sulmues (talk) 17:45, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Counties of Albania
Hi. I kitted out all of the counties with an infobox, new locator map and area/population data with a reference last night like Berat County. I was shocked to see how undeveloped these articles are. Given that the counties form the country I think they are high priority for the project to expand. Once they are expanded I would then like to do the Districts of Albania. I will begin expanding Berat County. I would be deeply grateful if we could make this a project collaboration and get these articles up to a decent status. Once I have Microsoft Office reinstalled on my new PC I will make montage images by county to go in the infoboxes like 4 images. Dr. Blofeld 09:44, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- I saw your work and it was really nice work, It is totally true that these articles have a high priority. I will see what I can do. --Vinie007 16:40, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
Very disappointing the lack of response. Dr. Blofeld 21:46, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- Blofeld they're counties, whose present names and borders may change whenever the government decides to change them and I also think that they're of low importance.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 09:46, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
Why then didn't you tell me when I started working on it that you believe they are low importance? Dr. Blofeld 16:09, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- The counties are not of low importance, and Dr. Blofeld has done a great job with Berat County, which in my opinion lacks little to GA status. Rather than deserting his job we should all agree to bring to GA and really help get GA status. I personally can give some help, but limited, given time constraints.--Sulmues (talk) 17:20, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Well. if the sources do exist to take it further I'd be happy to work with you to take it to GA, it still needs a fair bit of work which I'd be happy to do with you Sulmues if not the others. I found it difficult to find info about other places in the county other than Berat. Honestly if I hadn't have thought that the counties were important articles I wouldn't have expanded this and made a proposal I know that for most countries the provincial/state articles are high priority, like Florida with the US and Oxfordshire with the UK. Oldest text
[10][11] confirmed oldest text of the Albanian language found(14th century) so Albanian language must be updated.--— ZjarriRrethues — talk 16:43, 5 September 2010 (UTC)
- The Albanian source says 14th century, which is not what I see in the Austrian source. A little bit contradicting one another. --Sulmues (talk) 19:13, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
New map of the League of Lezhe?
If anybody has Harry Hodgkinson's book, he provides a map of Albania with all the major roads and cities during Skanderbeg's time. I tried a while back to have someone make a map of it for Wikipedia, but nobody wanted to take it up. I had something like this in mind from Stephen the Great of Moldavia, a character similar to Skanderbeg, but not as great a commander as Kastrioti of course :D If anybody is willing to take this up or introduce it to someone who can, I will be grateful. If needed, I will photocopy the map from my copy of the book if needed. Thanks a lot.--Gaius Claudius Nero (talk) 18:52, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Unreliable sources: Serbianna.com and Kosovo.net
I see in a lot of Kosovo related articles which are covered by WPSQ that unreliable sources such as Serbianna.com and Kosovo.net are used. These sources should be not used because not reliable. Neutral sources, especially for tongue in cheek articles ought to be used. I will start to remove content and such sources from related articles. --Sulmues (talk) 13:00, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
- AFAIK Serbianna.com is run by Boris Malagurski (User:Bormalagurski, who also tried to delete this WikiProject) while Kosovo.net is run by Serbian Orthodox Church (Kosovo.com was shut down 2 years ago); they are far from being reliable. Cheers. — Kedaditalk 02:05, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, Serbianna is a news site run from the United States, registered in 1999, when Malagurski was 11 years old. Kedadi, if you have any evidence that this person, who lives in Canada, is running Serbianna, other than the fact that Serbianna supports his films (among many other films, books and movements) and him signing his old posts on Wikipedia as 'serbiana' (not 'Serbianna', which may suggest that he likes the web-site, but hardly that he's actually running it), please provide them before making unsubstantiated claims. Thanks. As for reliability, I would suggest that for arguing that these sources are unreliable you use a stronger argument than 'they are far from being reliable', because that entails that we just have to trust you. Just because a source is a web-site run by Serbs doesn't mean it's an unreliable one (it might be, but the Serbian factor is irrelevant), and since Wikipedia is filled with Albanian sources, it would be nice if you were more tolerant towards Serbian ones as well. If you perhaps hold a grudge against Serbs or have an anti-Serb agenda, I suggest you deal with it outside Wikipedia and let the rest try to build a fair and balanced encyclopedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.189.68.42 (talk) 19:43, 14 September 2010 (UTC)
