user name problems

[edit]

As I told Gerardw, I created a new account and it is not my fault my signature does not do a link. It's a problem your techies will have to fix.--BlueRider12 14:58, 10 May 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bpell (talkcontribs)

Do not have a life?

[edit]

Does the following exerpt from the article's opening paragraphs mean that talk page stalkers do not have a life?

"Talk page stalkers... should not be confused... with people who have a life."

--MaxAMSC (talk) 21:34, 13 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Erm, I'm trying to think what else you think it could mean. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:52, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I actually think that is kind of offensive to some people, and should be removed.

Replace "stalker" with "watcher"

[edit]

I have opened a discussion about encouraging the use of "watcher" rather than "stalker" on pages related to this one, which may lead to significant changes to this page. If you would like to participate, please see Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)/Archive 118#Encourage use of "watcher" in place of "stalker" on talk pages. Having a life

[edit]

what do you consider "having a life", as "snobs" / rude egocentric people often say the phrase " get a life" to people giving them information they don't want to hear. What exactly is "get a life"? I find this article offensive and in my country to slander ones name is illegal. So what do you mean? It is talk pages that are used for talk and to notice changes you must watch the page. (Crlinformative (talk) 05:21, 31 March 2016 (UTC))[reply]

I’ve removed it because it could be considered offensive.

Why is this under WikiFun?

[edit]

This article seems a bit less humorous than most WikiFun articles, since talk page stalkers CAN actually be helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RedPanda25 (talkcontribs) 01:50, 17 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganise?

[edit]

Not clean-up, but I think a re-organisation of the content is a requirement now, as {{TL}} (ooh the irony!), images, and samples are scattered all over the page. —usernamekiran(talk) 22:10, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

intent

[edit]

Do people actually intentionally stalk? Once I add someone's talk page to my watch list for an actual discussion, I tend not to remove them. I won't actually stalk unless an edit summary looks like it needs more thought. That depends on how people write their summaries. Gah4 (talk) 19:01, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Gah4, if they are someone I like, I'll probably keep their talk page in my watchlist. That's just me, though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯MJLTalk 20:22, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
And you added them to your talk page before needing it for a discussion? I pretty much add any article to my watch list when I edit it. I only remove it, if the edit rate is excessive. And talk pages for actual discussion, and remove for the same reason. I only just found out about this page. Gah4 (talk) 21:50, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah sometimes. It's great for checking up on newbies! If things get dodgy, I try to be there. However, I am suffering from watch-list overload at the moment. In those cases I just check what the latest revision of the page is. –MJLTalk 21:55, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
My watch list only shows the latest edit. I thought about changing it, but then I might have watch list overload. If I go away for a day or two, it still gets pretty big. I might miss some changes, though. Gah4 (talk) 22:23, 11 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Change the Jaguar pic to El Jefe, rare/ unique wild Jaguar in Arizona

[edit]

Hi, Let’s change the Jaguar picture to El Jefe (jaguar), one of the few wild Jaguars in North America. El Jefe means “The Boss” in Spanish. thumb|El Jefe Raquel Baranow (talk) 15:20, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Why does anyone think this is a good name?

[edit]

"Stalker" has very few positive connotations and some pretty horrific negative ones. Can't this become something else like "Eavesdropper" or "Talk page lookyloo" or just about anything else? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mike Selinker (talkcontribs) 07:05, 14 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

or "virgin" as I suggested ? 184.152.77.245 (talk) 02:52, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
To answer the latter: Ridiculous.
To answer the former: I think its because of the common shared "-alk" thing. Mako001 (C)  (T)  🇺🇦 02:58, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hello! I'd like to suggest a change to the wording on the banners to be more "uniform". Currently it says that the user's talk page is monitored by talk page watcher, but then it says their input is welcome and help with messages I cannot respond to is appreciated. I propose that the word "I" be changed to the user to be in the same perspective as the first part of the banner. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:18, 9 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand "Surprise your stalkers" section

[edit]

This section lacks enough context for me to make heads or tails of. Though it comes right after a section on rewarding the "stalker", this section seems to address the host who wishes the stalker would stop doing that and go away. Then, there's confusing advice on both politeness and bluntness. {{subst:Talk:Talk page stalker page stalker}} signed, Willondon (talk) 16:29, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Catministrators

[edit]

The first sentence of the third paragraph in the introduction contains the word "catministrators" linking to the Wikipedia:Administrators page. Is this intentional? Additionally, from what I can discern, it might actually support the page's humor regardless of its intentionality, though I'm not certain. Could someone offer a second opinion on whether or not to keep the misspelling? 70.166.73.23 (talk) 14:40, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. This page is humorous so that is on purpose. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:42, 8 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
