The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
Given that this is also being discussed at WP:ANI#Can you please help, it's probably best that further discussion take place there. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:43, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone send me the link to get help please? I am being abuse online the information is a lie and I really need to remove the a page which comes up when you type my name. Can anyone help! This is dangerous for me and my family Marksullivanformby (talk) 20:46, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Marksullivanformby If the information is in a Wikipedia article and has legal implications, including libel, please send an email to info-en-qwikipedia.org who should be able to assist you. Mike Turnbull (talk) 20:51, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you and yes I do currently have a lawyer working on the abuse I am receiving. This will also be mentioned in court. Thank you for your help and advice. 🙏🏼 Marksullivanformby (talk) 21:27, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Marksullivanformby: Please also take a look at WP:BLPSELF for some more information you might find helpful. Negative content about of the subject of an article can be allowed as long as it reflects what WP:SECONDARY WP:RELIABLESOURCES are saying, it's not WP:UNDUE, and it's written from WP:NPOV as explained in WP:LUC. Please also remember that WP:BLPCOI applies to all parties trying to use Wikipedia as part of a WP:REALWORLD dispute; so, you need to be very careful about what you post about others on any Wikipedia page to avoid problems related to WP:OUTING and other relevant Wikipedia policies. I also highly suggest you refrain from posting anything related to real world legal action you might be taking against others because these could be seen as a violation of WP:NLT. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:37, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

leeja miller / lawyer perspective on curent events from a law perspective / thoughtful and well done / do not know if she has a bias thank you for creating this article / you sitel needs a simple/user friendly over... haul 174.215.24.61 (talk) 00:28, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome. The help desk is for questions about editing Wikipedia? Did you have a question? Your wording is quite unclear RudolfRed (talk) 04:16, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Leeja Miller appears to be a Youtube personality with a substaintial following. There is not a Wikipedia article about her because there is no significant coverage of Leeja Miller in reliable, secondary sources - so there's nothing to use for a Wikipedia article. We say this doesn't meet Wikipedia's criteria for notability. If someone else were to write about Leeja Miller in, for instance, a generally reliable magazine or newspaper that was independent of her, then that would a starting point for a Wikipedia article. -- D'n'B-t -- 06:42, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Edit my page

[edit]

Hi, I have a page on Wikipedia (Mariapaola D'Imperio, linguist) which I did not create. Can I edit that? Thanks, Mariapaola Mdimperio (talk) 11:05, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

 Courtesy link: Mariapaola D'Imperio
@Mdimperio please see WP:AUTO and WP:BLPSELF. Editing a biography about yourself is acceptable only if you are removing unambiguous vandalism or clear-cut and serious violations of our biography of living persons policy. '''[[User:CanonNi]]''' (talkcontribs) 11:12, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We welcome input from the subject of articles, subject to certain rules explained at WP:ASFAQ. If you know of reliable sources which have discussed you, then please suggest additions to the article on its Talk Page by making an edit request which will be reviewed by non-involved editors. There is a wizard that can help you do that. Also, you could upload a selfie picture of yourself to Wikimedia Commons and ask for it to be incorporated in the article, which currently doesn't have an image of you. Did you have a question about editing or using Wikipedia? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 14:20, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I tried adding a citation for a claim in Anino Games, on the release of Timothy and Titus. I found a source (press release) of the game's release and involvement of Anino Games, which I used as citation. I added the reference, as it needed a citation, using the visual editor.

My problem is: In editing the "Name of the Website", when adding 'Game Developer" (the website), it does not immediately lead you to the website's wikilink, but a disambiguation page. I tried different formats in the visual editor, but I just couldn't do it successfully. How can I do so? Also, may I know if the citation was valid?

~~~~ RFNirmala (talk) 13:52, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since there are multiple items named Game Deceloper, you will need to put "Game Developer (website)" as the website link to lead to the right article. If you don't want the parentheses to be visible for viewers, you will need to use pipelink by typing [[Game Developer (website)|Game Developer]]. Tutwakhamoe (talk) 20:24, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Editing References
[edit]
How do you edit references? I have a reference showing on the published page, but can't find it in the editing mode. Nichol40 (talk) 14:14, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Nichol40: Are you using the visual or source editor? In the case of visual you can just click on the inline number citation, and a box with an "Edit" button will appear. If you're using the source editor just look for the content sandwiched between the <ref> tags. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 14:22, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Nichol40. References are displayed in the Reference (or similarly-named) Section near the bottom of the Article, but their code is located where the first example of their superscript number [n] appears in the main text. Click the '[Edit]' next to the relevant Section title and look for it.
If it's in the Infobox, use the 'Edit' or 'View source' tab at the top of the article – the Infobox code usually appears first; if it's in first paragraph or 'Lede', do the same – the Lede's code usually follows that of the Infobox. Hope this helps. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 151.227.226.178 (talk) 19:03, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you would like to request an article, please see the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested articles. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 18:54, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. Wikipedia is created by thousands of volunteer editors, like you and me, who work on what they choose.
What you are doing here is the equivalent of going to a public place, standing up, and saying "I'd like somebody to write an article about this temple. Please write it for me".
It is possible that one of the thousands of people who reads this page will go "Oh, yes, that's interesting", and look into it; but it's not very likely.
If you ask instead at WikiProject India, the people who read that already have an interest in India, so it's slightly more likely that somebody will be interested and pick it up; but still, not very likely.
If you want this article to exist, the most likely way to make it happen is for you to write it yourself; but that is hard, and new editors rarely manage it unless they first spend a few weeks or months learning how Wikipedia works, by making improvements to several existing articles.
What I will say, though, is that the most important (and often the most challenging) part of writing an article is finding the sources on which the article is to be based. If there is to be an article on your temple, ever, somebody will first have to find those sources. If you begin that search, if you do the "ground work", then it is slightly more possible that somebody will be interested in the project.
So, what I suggest you do, is
  • Create an account (that is not essential, you can continue to edit anonymously, but it's easier for people to communicate with you if you have an account.
  • Find topics that interest you, and look at the task centre for edits that you can do to learn about Wikipedia.
  • Search for sources that are reliably published, wholly unconnected with the temple, and containing significant coverage of the temple. They do not have to be online, or in English, though it is easiest if they are both.
If you can find several such sources, then it would be worth posting in WikiProject India, as I suggested, or reading your first article and trying to create it yourself. ColinFine (talk) 18:57, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
IP editor. Wikidata has an entry for Hingula Temple in Talcher, Odisha here, which shows there is an article for it in the Odia language, as might be expected. I don't know how good that article is but it might form the basis of a translation you could use to draft an English equivalent. The main hurdle will be to show that the temple is notable enough to have an article in English. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:01, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you are asking, or how it relates to using and editing Wikipedia (which is the only topic which is appropriate on this page). We have an article Taenia solium. ColinFine (talk) 19:00, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We can not help you with your homework. Tutwakhamoe (talk) 20:25, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Taenia solium. Also see the related page it links to on the Wikispecies site, which is intended to be language-independent. Access to Wikipedia
[edit]
How do I access Wikipedia with my questions.
Stephen Sasz (talk) 23:10, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You just have. Note that this help page is for questions about using or editing Wikipedia only. Beginners may find the Teahouse useful for such questions too. We have reference desks for more general questions. AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:32, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Stephen Sasz: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Like other encyclopedias, it organized into articles. To find answers to questions about a subject, find the articles about that subject and read them. You can generally find the appropriate articles using the search function. -Arch dude (talk) 00:11, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
