Zabreh/Hohenstad

I would like to contribute an article regarding Zabreh/Hohenstad. The family Froehlich lived there and I have an Article about one of the members born in this city in 1876. Leo Froehlich. 50.34.114.21 (talk) 00:10, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

English-language Wikipedia already has an article on Zábřeh (also known as Hohenstadt). If you mean that you have an article (published in a periodical or similar) that could be used to benefit the article Zábřeh, then, if the article is published and reliable, you might use Talk:Zábřeh to alert other editors to its existence and availability. -- Hoary (talk) 00:48, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It was me who added the heading to a post with no heading. Maybe it should have said Leo Froehlich and the poster wants to create a new article about him, not merely add mention to Zábřeh. See Wikipedia:Articles for creation, and note the requirements in Wikipedia:Notability (people). New users usually have difficulty making an acceptable Wikipedia article. Timeline template

Hello, is there a suitable timeline-style template that could replace File:History of St Mungo's.png? The image is also fully invisible in Dark Mode (gadget version). Matrix, see Template:Graphical timeline for instructions on how to create timelines using templates. @ReverendRobertMortimer: I assume you mean that you created an article on your computer using some sort of word processing software. There is no automated way to "upload" such an article to Wikipedia. Wikipedia articles use the Wikimedia markup language and are produced using one of several Wikipedia editors. You will need to tediously cut and paste the contents of your local copy into the editing window of the Wikipedia editor, using the markup syntax for headers, etc., as part of creating your draft. -Arch dude (talk) 15:45, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, as you are a new editor and don't appear to have spent time learning how Wikipedia works, it is likely that you have written your draft BACKWARDS, and written from what you know, rather than from what your independent sources say.

My earnest advice to new editors is to not even think about trying to create an article until you have spent several weeks - at least - learning about how Wikipedia works by making improvements to existing articles. Once you have understood core policies such as verifiability, neutral point of view, reliable, independent sources, and notability, and experienced how we handle disagreements with other editors (the Bold, Revert, Discuss cycle), then you might be ready to read your first article carefully, and try creating a draft. Lucretia Garfield

I've found some sources reporting that Lucretia Garfield was born in Hiram and others in Garretsville. Could the discrepancy be due to the fact that the village of Garrettsville was formed from portions of Hiram? When reliable sources differ, the article should use both and report the discrepancy. You as an editor must use editorial judgement as to how to do this. Often, a footnote will be the best/least disruptive choice. -Arch dude (talk) 15:49, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Arch dude the consistent majority of sources say Garrettsville. So, I just want to know if Garrettsville and Hiram are the same place or not. Garrettsville and Hiram township in 1832 are overlapping concepts. I don't have a strong opinion about which is better, but you can add a note as Arch dude suggested. TSventon (talk) 18:26, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

She was born in the unincorporated community of Garrettsville, which was a bunch of dwellings around a crossroads. After she was born, Hiram came into existance, and later the legal town of Garretsville came into existence. There is no need to go into all of these details in the Lucretia Garfield article. You said you have reliable sources that say "Hiram" and others that say "Garretsville". We cannot know which is correct. You are not supposed to make a choice when sources differ. How to correct an image

The first chemical structure given for glutamate is incorrect; this is the structure for glutamine. When I tried to edit, I found that the entire block is based on a template that seems to link all of the pictures. I only want to remove/replace one of them. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks! @Mrcc78578 We don't have an article for glutamate, that's a redirect to glutamic acid. The structure in the chembox is correct for that compound (see thumb here to the right) and more detail is given at Glutamic_acid#Ionization. Glutamine is the amino acid with a sidechain that terminates in CONH₂ and the article glutamine correctly shows this. Please be more specific about what you think may be wrong. Shifting table template alignment

Is there a way for me to move to the left a template which is by default centered? I'm not talking about the alignment of the text within the template, but the template as a whole. Question about fatality count

I'm working on an article about a disaster that injured several people, one of whom was a woman 6 months into pregnancy that lost their child. The source does not count this as a death in its section about casualties. Would we count this as a confirmed fatality? GeorgeMemulous (talk) 22:00, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
