Why is this User Box not working?

[edit]

Here is my page of User Boxes: User:Joseph A. Spadaro/Sandbox/Page-Intro-10. In the third column on the right, there is a "blank space" (four User Boxes down). This used to be occupied by another User Box. Then, one day, out of the blue ... that User Box just disappeared from my page. I went back to look at "old versions" of my page (looking through the History). And, it seems, that blank space has always been a blank space (even though I absolutely know that that's not the case). I looked at the computer code in the "edit mode" of my page. And -- in relation to the blank white space / missing User Box -- it says "{{User:JohnRussell/wikipedianumedits|89,900}}". When it appeared -- that is, before it disappeared -- the User Box said something like "This user has made 89,900 edits to Wikipedia" (or some such sentiment). What's going on? I am totally confused. My guess is that the "computer code" for that User Box has become invalid or disabled. But, I have no idea what's going on. Please help. Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 03:32, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I can't explain what changed for you, but I believe the correct syntax for that user box is
{{User wikipedianumedits|89,900}}. That is, the ":JohnRussell/" part should be removed and replaced with a single space. CodeTalker (talk) 04:51, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The syntax was correct but CJDOS made a bad edit to {{User edits to Wikipedia}}. I have reverted it.[1] PrimeHunter (talk) 14:28, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, all! Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 01:39, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edit needed to a page of a place where I work

[edit]

I work at the following company in the link below. We changed our logo and I'm trying to get the old one replaced. College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Makrizm (talkcontribs)

Makrizm Please read the paid editing policy and make the required formal disclosure. Please also review conflict of interest and how to make an edit request; you may make a request at the article talk page, Talk:College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. You may also need to read about uploading images. 331dot (talk) 14:26, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Makrizm: I noticed the logo was already uploaded and added, albeit in the wrong place, so I moved it to the infobox. Please make edit requests in the future and disclose your connection to the conference on your talk page, per the instructions above. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 18:39, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I need a article for my business

[edit]

Hi I have a home security business in South Africa and I thought it's time to have/be on online platforms. Now with that being said I wanted to ask if you would be able to help me — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.144.82.210 (talkcontribs)

No. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a business directory or venue for promotion. You will need to find another platform for your business. RudolfRed (talk) 16:17, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

So, our page was the Tennessee Foreign Language Institute, which does show up in the search. But we changed our name in 2018, and the Tennessee Language Center (the new name) does NOT show up when you search Wikipedia for it. How do I fix this? Do I need to create a new page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by UTTLC (talkcontribs) 16:17, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved the article. --David Biddulph (talk) 16:27, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Re: adding 2000 and 2011 NIT runner up for alabama basketball page

[edit]

Hi Can you add 2000 and 2011 as nit runner up for alabama mens basketball on their homepage and final fours for both of those years and sec west champions for 2005 and 2011. Also add the correct number of sec titles for kentucky and lsu and tennessee to make sure each have the right number Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rrkulka (talkcontribs)

@Rrkulka: Please link to the page you're referring to, and you can ask over at that article's talk page first. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.)Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 19:04, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am referring to the alabama mens basketball wikipedia page and that needs to be added into the list of accomplishments

"Cleo & Cuquin"

[edit]

Wikipedia

On "Cleo & Cuquin" the character Cleo I believe you misprint you put "he" instead she Cleo is an girl. Thank you. John Burnett (Scranton, PA (USA))

I looked at the Cleo & Cuquin article and didn't see any instances of he being used to refer to Cleo. Deor (talk) 18:15, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Deor, the article has been subject to vandalism, which seems to be normal for children's television programs. I have corrected the original channel to Clan, but there are probably more errors. TSventon (talk) 21:50, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Recent errors now fixed, hopefully. TSventon (talk) 22:21, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Russian speaking editors Draft:IVMED

[edit]
Resolved

Hi! Do we have any Russian speaking editors afoot to see whether this article exists on the Russian wikipedia and/or should be tagged as such, or how this should otherwise be handled? Google translate tells me this is probably a G11, but give that I can't actually read it, I don't want to act rashly. Thanks! Star Mississippi 18:30, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Star Mississippi: It's a fertility clinic in Kiev, and is likely not notable, based on the English coverage I can see. I also searched the .RU Wikipedia and couldn't find it. It would be spelled like this: Айвимед. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 19:15, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It is actually spelt "IVMED" not "Айвимед" (see https://infertility-kiev.com/uk/) and ru:IVMED appears to have been deleted four times today. --ColinFine (talk) 19:28, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you ColinFine. Super helpful. Guessing if the content was deleted four times there, our article wouldn't be helpful to them either. Star Mississippi 20:18, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And this is resolved (thanks Liz and belated thanks TimTempleton. Earlier ping fail Star Mississippi 00:14, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SidraRanaAdv, you've already asked about this at the AFC Help Desk already. Please don't ask the same question in more than one place. I presume this is about Draft:Kaleem Ahmad Khursheed. --ColinFine (talk) 19:42, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

List help

[edit]

I'm not up on the policies or guidelines for lists... could someone take a quick pass at List_of_washi to remove those that do not belong? My initial inclination was to remove everything that is not a wikilink -- is that correct? --- Possibly 19:48, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Possibly: each list has its own selection criteria—here, it seems reasonable to me to list common members of the category even if they don't currently have an article. If there were so many items that listing them all would obviously be undesirable ("List of pieces of paper") then the selection criteria might be that it has to be notable. This list has some inline external links that can be taken as (badly-formatted) references. I think the priority should be adding additional references and details about each washi, before it comes to the matter of removing the content (and then I'd keep anything that has good sources and delete the rest). — Bilorv (talk) 17:27, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Template help

[edit]

I am trying to make an infobox template for my profile that's like one on my profile on Fandom (https://anime-and-vocaloid-fan-club.fandom.com/wiki/User:Animevocaloidandutaurules538), but I cannot seem to get it to work. Could I have some help on it, please?? The template I need help with: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Template:Akoane_Nishimura

Thank you,

~Rei — Preceding unsigned comment added by Animevocaloidandutaurules538 (talkcontribs)
@Animevocaloidandutaurules538: https://anime-and-vocaloid-fan-club.fandom.com/wiki/Template:Akoane_Nishimura uses a version of mw:Extension:PortableInfobox. Special:Version shows we don't have that extension installed so the code doesn't work here. We use {{Infobox}} to make infobox templates. We are not an anime wiki and Template:Akoane Nishimura could easily be nominated for deletion, also if it actually worked. Template:Infobox Wikipedia user is more suited for a user page here. help in renaming a page to publish

[edit]

Dear reader, We need help to change the title of a page "Madinah.Award" so that we can publish it. Please we need to change the title of the page. As the archived help pages recommend to use the Move tool, which we don't have. please help with this.

thank you in advance— Preceding unsigned comment added by Madinah.Award (talkcontribs) 22:13, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

اسلام عليكم, Madinah.Award. The move function is not available until your account has been in existence for four whole days, and made ten edits. But in any case, your sandbox is wholly inappropriate for English Wikipedia, because it is in Arabic, not English. If you want to create an English article on the subject, please see Translate us. But please also note that your sandbox does not appear to have any references at all, and an article without references is not acceptable at English Wikipedia. In addition, your user name is not acceptable in English Wikipedia, because it appears to represent an organisation. I'm guessing that you are here to publicise your awards: please also be aware that promotion of any kind is not permitted on English Wikipedia. --ColinFine (talk) 22:33, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Madinah.Award: - please do not post requests for help in multiple places, as you did at the Teahouse and here. You're getting the same answer, but making twice as much work for other volunteers. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 23:01, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
