WikiProject Germany

Willkommen to WikiProject Germany! We are a group of editors dedicated to the expansion and refinement of Wikipedia’s coverage of the German republic, people, monuments and culture. If you wish to join us, simply sign your name on our roster.

Should you have any questions about our project, just drop us a line on our discussion page. If you’re lucky, you might even find some fellow project members in the Wikipedia IRC chat (#wikipedia-en). If you speak German, you may want to also try the German Wikipedia chatroom (#wikipedia-de).

Divisions Scope

This project covers the creation and editing of articles related to the nation of Germany, its cities, counties, geography, transportation, culture, history and so on. It aims to expand Wikipedia's resources on Germany in a fair and accurate manner.

As of 5 November 2024, there are 154,777 articles and other project resources within the scope of WikiProject Germany. For a more detailed overview see Germany article statistics.

A monthly top 1000 list of Germany-related popular articles is available at Wikipedia:WikiProject Germany/Popular pages.

Goals
  1. Kill all backlogs.
  2. Get this project organized.
  3. To serve as a central point of discussion for collaboration related to Germany. Foster increased cooperation between editors in order to meet the other goals.
  4. To create the foremost reliable and accurate free-content encyclopedia of Germany in the English language.
  5. Build all Top Importance Germany Articles to Good Article status at a minimum. Current progress: 11 out of 136 meet this criteria.[a]

  • Reference and navigation - the "keys to the country" (and of key importance)
  • Cities (talk) – Cities, towns, villages and districts
  • People (talk) – includes residents of the current nation of Germany, all its predecessors, and all those people who have resided in any of Germany's predecessor states who have shaped Germany
  • Photo requests (talk) – adding and requesting images of Germany.
