- Adding a source under his published works. It included an article with the word "Fucking" which is perhaps why it was flagged but indeed he published such an article in 2017 with that word in his title. The full source would be : Engel, Stephen & Lyle, Timothy. 2017. "Fucking With Dignity: Public Sex, Queer Intimate Kinship, and How the AIDS Epidemic Bathhouse Closures Constituted a Dignity Taking." - @Hypnotic28: The filter is perhaps being a bit overly strict but you've misheard the phrase. There's a reason we have an article Old wives' tale but not Old wise tale. - Description
- I was trying to point out poor source selection in the B rated article. I expressed that the article quality was poor. I mentioned specific errors in the article. I urged better mindfulness in source selection. I'll say here that expressions indicating problems should be allowed so criticism can be direct and free of doublespeak apology for helping. The errors of source selection in the article are not minor errors. Language expressing this should be allowed. "Ridiculous" should be a perfectly acceptable term when it is accurate to describe the actions in producing an article. Not allowing direct criticism will lead this venture into territory where useless nonsense is the rule. I will express my deep disappointment at this blocking of even critique in the "talk" section here. Article quality has suffered in general. This filter does not help.

- I was trying to add a check mark to show that a performance got into iTunes Top 10 because that's what everyone puts when that happens. The problem is in the 'Teams' section (Section 8.2) near the bottom of the page: the table cell that's pink on the left and says 'MaKenzie Thomas'. It's in the Week 1 cell where it has a gold background and says 'Public's Vote'. I tried putting a check mark right beside 'Public's Vote' (the file is File:☑.svg|18x18px), but after publishing it showed me an error about no emojis. There had already been another check mark put in the key. Mine was constructive, so I reported it here.

- Bach_Choir_(disambiguation) (filter log)
- Description
- This disambiguation page lists 14 Bach Choirs in the UK, 7 of which have Wikipedia pages, but I found a doctoral thesis which lists 40. It seemed useful to include that thesis as a citation, but this triggered an automatic warning that citations are not normally allowed in disambiguation pages. I can't think of a better place within Wikipedia for that citation and so I would humbly suggest it should be allowed in this case. Or those Bach Choirs without Wikipedia pages should be removed, which would seem a shame. I have left the edit in pending judgement since the long thesis title and author's name containing accented characters was slightly tedious to enter.
- Date and time
- 22:52, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
- Comments
- @Pleriche: Disambiguation pages serve a different purpose from lists and generally shouldn't include items that don't have articles. Disambig pages are supposed to help readers find articles, and the items without articles will only serve to frustrate people. That said, maybe there should be a more complete List of Bach Choirs page in addition to the dab page. Or perhaps the current dab page could be moved to List of Bach Choirs and reformatted as a list. It depends on whether people searching for, say, the Aberdeen Bach Choir or the Dorset Bach Cantata Club are realistically going to just type "Bach Choir" into the search box. I don't know, maybe ask the folks at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Classical music what they think the best option is here. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 23:40, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Suffusion of Yellow: Thank you, I wasn't aware of lists as a specific type of page and I agree that a List of Bach Choirs would be a good idea. As you suspect, if somebody simply types "bach choir" they are unlikely to be looking for a provincial Bach choir, though they may very well be looking for The (London) Bach Choir, indeed, Bach Choir (capitalised) will already redirect them there. I would suggest therefore that the contents of bach choir should be syphoned off into List of Bach Choirs and the disambiguation page be slimmed down to contain only Bach Choir and List of Bach Choirs. Does that sound sensible? Pleriche (talk) 16:23, 15 November 2018 (UTC)
- It seems reasonable to me, but this isn't a subject with which I'm very familiar. Either be bold and create the page (WP:AFD is always a risk), or ask the people at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Classical music what they think is best. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 00:39, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

As I stated at the time of the edit, this is a self-published book but I see that it is very accurate on many things that I have verified through study over the years. In addition, this information on the Cataline Affair in Republican Rome fits other ancient sources such as those by Republican Roman soldier, politician and historian Gaius Asinius Pollio, who was actually alive at the time. Further, if you study the Cataline Affair in all available, often quoted sources, you will see that none really give concrete, verifiable evidence on evidence on actual conspiracy.

The information under this headline actually is irrelevant, however, I was just trying to add related information but I'm getting a false positive error. I wonder if that's because I tried to change the headline to Calcium and Lipid selectivity because C2 domains are selective about both and maybe because I am a new user it thought I'm messing with the article. However, I tried it again without changing the headline and it still didn't allow me to change it. Thanks!

I haven't expected you, or anyone else, to always respond, and I hope haven't implied otherwise. You've been very helpful, in any case. Generally, I do try and find the user who made the change, but sometimes that person hasn't edited in weeks, or months, so I add other names. In some cases it's not clear which name to add. Perhaps we need a MAINTAINERS page?

- [[Kek (mythology)]] (filter log)
- Description
- I was adding relevant information to the origin of the cult's resurgence. The use of the term "kek" had been wide-spread as a stand in for the internet slang "lol" since the early days of competitive Starcraft in South Korea (their national sport, actually), and since Blizzard adopted the term as a stand in for "lol" in their popular game, World of Warcraft. I can't help but assume that the edit itself was no flagged, but the attempt to edit the page, including mention of "Pepe the Frog," was what flagged the edit....get your politics out of Wikipedia.

- Worse, the (diff) link in Special:AbuseLog/22566786 leads to an edit by Tarheel95, yet you were "blamed" for the edit. I believe this might be the same bug as reported at EFN, at EFN again, and at phab:T198651, where nothing has happened since July. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 16:43, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- Or maybe not. In order for that bug to be triggered, the "pre-save transform" need to be different from the text you submitted. (i.e. the text should have a substed template, a signature, a pipe trick, or something else that causes the text to be altered after you click "publish"). I don't think that should ever happen if you just click "undo" and save the page. So maybe this is something else. Can you give any more detail as to what happened before this filter hit? You would need to have tried to save the page at least three times, unsuccessfully. What happened the first two times? Any clues would be helpful here. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 17:24, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- Just noticed your reply now. I don't remember trying to save it three times, I only remember doing it once. Maybe this is a different bug, or maybe I'm not remembering things correctly. Thanks for the reply! 24.5.8.227 (talk) 18:20, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- @Suffusion of Yellow: I know it's a bit late to do this, but trying out a ping. 24.5.8.227 (talk) 19:11, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. One more question: Do you think you might have changed anything in the edit form (such as adding whitespace, etc.) between clicking "undo" and clicking "publish changes"? Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 20:15, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- As far as I can remember, no. I was trying to undo it quickly, as it was a clear-cut case of vandalism. 24.5.8.227 (talk) 22:20, 20 November 2018 (UTC)
- Well, I managed to reproduce this, and the pre-save transform wasn't involved at all. Looks like all you need is an edit "conflict" where your version is the same as the already-saved version, so the speculation at the original thread at EFN was correct after all. It would also seem that this filter thinks all IPs are one user, so the other three edits need to trip the rate limit came from other IPs. I'm not sure if that part is a bug or a feature. I will ask at WP:EFN. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 00:00, 21 November 2018 (UTC)

- Sorry, but Wikipedia is not the place for this kind of thing. We can only publish what's been reported in reliable sources. So that kind of claim can only be in the article if it's already been reported widely in the media. Otherwise, any anonymous person on the Internet could make any claim about anybody they don't like, and indeed, that happens so often that we have filters to stop it.
