Half Million Award for List of songs recorded by the Beatles
The Half Million Award | |
For your contributions to bring List of songs recorded by the Beatles (estimated annual readership: 500,000) to Featured List status, I hereby present you the Half Million Award. Congratulations on this rare accomplishment, and thanks for all you do for Wikipedia's readers! Reidgreg (talk) 16:34, 1 January 2020 (UTC) |
- Congrats on the Beatles list. Looks like splitting list tables into "Main" and "Other" is now an acceptable practice. BTW, I'm following your lead on the recent misguided AfDs. —Ojorojo (talk) 15:55, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
- Ojorojo Thank you so much! And thanks on the AfDs. – zmbro (talk) 17:53, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hello. You've expressed interest in bringing the Beatles discography (another 500,000+ article) to GAN. I didn't respond on the project page, but to me the common WP discography format is not encyclopedic. I have read several professional discographies and none places such emphasis on charts and sales statistics. The tables are mostly populated with " – " (no chart or release) and when an actual number does appear, the reader cannot tell what country chart it refers to, without scrolling back to the top (or having first memorized the positions). The choice of country charts in not consistent from table to table and is not explained: several albums charted in Switzerland and Belgium (maybe more than France or Austria), but they are not included. However, are these even useful to readers of an English-language encyclopedia? Several of the Beatles discographies on other language WPs focus on the releases in those countries and the individual song and album articles usually provide chart info. Given the high visibility, the Beatles should have an encyclopedic-quality discography article. Some new ground was broken in the Beatles and Hendrix lists and I think a fresh approach could work. —Ojorojo (talk) 15:39, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- Ojorojo What bothers me the most about Beatles-related articles across this encyclopedia is how unfinished they are. Especially in regards to their discography, which is a total mess and receives over 1M pageviews a year, I've come to find that most Beatles editors were active 10 years ago and have long since retired. For the past five years, the only really active one I've seen is JG66, who I've communicated a lot with because of. I feel like for a band like the Beatles you'd still have tons of editors working to improve but no, there are now mainly less than like 10. It's why I was shocked seeing their song list like this and the Beatles in film like this, along with other lists of theirs that were just unfinished. I've also noticed that many articles of theirs that have been promoted to GA and FA are now incredibly outdated, notably "Rain" and "Free as a Bird" and even "The Long and Winding Road". In regards to the discography, I see what you mean about the countries and whatnot. I've said this before but the main problem with that page is refs (almost none) and the lead, which is a much poorly-written variation of what I ended up with on their song page. I mean, who gives a shit that their legacy is "approximately 10 hours of music". Makes me angry just thinking about it.

- I've found it even more shocking seeing artists like Bowie have almost zero info on any of his song pages, considering Bowie's cultural influence on everything from music to fashion to film. That is why I've decided to dedicate my time on WP for a while to improve Bowie's articles, which is MUCH needed. That mainly started after seeing Bowie's song list like this and after bringing the Beatles' song list to FL, I wanted to do something new, following me writing several articles for Kanye West. Anyways, I'd be happy to work with you on a solution to the Beatles discography problem. It's always angered their it has not been high quality, considering its the Beatles. I'd be happy to hear your ideas. – zmbro (talk) 17:25, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- With all the various problems, it's difficult to know where to start. But I have no interest in perpetuating the current up to 10 columns of sales statistics approach. If all of these are important, then shouldn't there be release info (labels, dates, etc.) for every country also? For a group like the Beatles at a time when local labels often reconfigured albums and released different singles, listing them all would result in an overcomplicated, unwieldy discography. For the much of the 1960s, tracking rock records was usually done more informally (listener polls, etc.) outside of the UK and US (it's odd that most of the Beatles' 1964–1966 albums show #1 in Canada, but the linked RPM source only begins in 1968). However, some editors are insistent about adding these as "charts" on a equal footing with Billboard.
- I think I'd start with a section on the core catalogue (probably what the average reader is interested in), then proceed from there. I'd move the releases with Tony Sheridan to a separate article/discography (aren't they him singing covers with backup) and remove Los Beatles, The Beatles in Italy, etc. or relocate to a separate miscellaneous section. Once it's all done, rewrite the lead to highlight what's important. —Ojorojo (talk) 19:45, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

GA nominee
Understand you won't be able to review this lengthy article, but I'm sure you'll be glad to know that I've just nominated Ye for GA status. This means that Jesus Is King stands as West's only album to not have been nominated yet, while all the others with the exception of the newly nominated Ye have already become GA's! --Kyle Peake (talk) 20:12, 4 January 2020 (UTC)
Article deletion
You're changing a lot of articles to redirects. I suspect most Stones songs would have enough coverage to meet GNG, so I'm going to revert those edits until you discuss first. Doctorhawkes (talk) 02:24, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
- Doctorhawkes I'm sure most Stones songs do as well. But most of the ones I redirected were all less than 5k bytes and almost no references. Some were even just a small description and personnel. To me, that doesn't strike as notable but I figured some people would feel differently. – zmbro (talk) 02:30, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
- You are redirecting articles with references and claims of notability, like this one. You are essentially speedy-deleting articles without going through a proper process. Please stop doing that. If you think a referenced article with a claim of notability should be deleted or redirected, please take it to AFD. – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:55, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
- Jonesey95 I realize now that I've definitely been out of control with that the past few days. I'm sorry, I'll stop. – zmbro (talk) 22:53, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the acknowledgement. I have been very frustrated in the past with pathetic articles about songs and singles, but there is always a lot of pushback. See this discussion for some background. If you aren't familiar with AFD, here are some links: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, especially the top section that starts "Before listing an article for deletion here", and the WP:BEFORE section. If you decide to gather a group of articles to list at AFD, ping me and I will stop by to take a look. All of that said, you may want to focus your efforts on the truly awful song articles first, like those with no references, or only references to track listings and similar catalogs. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:09, 5 January 2020 (UTC)

FAN for Aftermath (Rolling Stones album)
Hi Zmbro. I have recently opened a featured-article nomination for Aftermath (Rolling Stones album). I want to invite you to offering a review for the nomination if it interests you, given your edit history at related articles. Thank you. isento (talk) 21:21, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

Copying/merging articles
Hi. If you're going to merge articles, like you did with the Wings tours article that I started which you merged into List of Paul McCartney concert tours, please give proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Contrary to popular belief, "contributors to Wikipedia are not asked to surrender their copyright to the material they contribute. Instead, they are required to co-license their contributions under the copyleft licenses Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License (CC BY-SA) and GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). Both of these licenses allow reuse and modification, but reserve the right to attribution."
"Moved from that page" is not sufficient when you don't specify which page.
It doesn't really matter in this case as the text I contributed wasn't of the highest quality, and some of it I copied (with attribution) from Wings University Tour, but please bear in mind in future. I for one am very happy to donate my time to Wikipedia but I expect to get the attribution I am entitled to for my work. Thanks. --kingboyk (talk) 04:40, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hi kingboyk. Thanks for notifying me of this. I'm very sorry I'll make sure it doesn't happen again. – zmbro (talk) 15:39, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Featured lists
PS I just had a look at your user page. Thanks for your work making Featured content. The Beatles and the Beastie Boys? You have impeccable taste! :) --kingboyk (talk) 15:46, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
- kingboyk Thank you so much! I'm currently taking a break from FLs since the Beatles list was my dream project for about 2 years; kept getting sidetracked making other FLs :-). But now that that page is finally featured I'm turning to other projects. I'm currently really into Bowie and am working towards improving many of his song articles :-) – zmbro (talk) 16:07, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
- Ah too bad you've given up on Featured Lists otherwise I'd dangle a barnstar in your face in return for getting The KLF discography promoted :D Your impressive list of Featured Lists inspired me to pay it a visit. Some hours later I finished restoring useful information which at some point had been inexplicably removed. We'd carefully compiled it to only include the milestone releases, and because Messrs Drummond and Cauty operated under various names we naturally had a column for the artist name. Some editor or editors had removed the artist name column (why?!) and trimmed it down to one entry per similar song title. The ambient house track "Last Train to Trancentral (Pure Trance Original)" is an almost entirely different composition from the later dancefloor-troubling hit single; and "3 a.m. Eternal (Live at the S.S.L.)" is an acid house classic whereas "3 a.m. Eternal (with Extreme Noise Terror)" is a sort of techno/grindcore crossover! Sigh.
- [Not really serious about making that article a Featured List though; we already failed twice, went to GA and got promoted, then got delisted, and gave up all hope].
- Are you a member of the Beatles WikiProject? I co-founded it, but haven't really been involved for some years. --kingboyk (talk) 21:59, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
- Ah yeah, I think you're there under your old name :) --kingboyk (talk) 22:05, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
- kingboyk I've definitely not given up on FLs, just taking a break. I still want to do other like this one but I just want to work on other projects for now. Taking a quick glance at The KLF discography there are quite a few problems with it, I could give some suggestions if you'd like me to.
- Yes I am a part of the Beatles WP, I'm definitely not shocked it still lists my old username. It's really cool to hear you're a co-founder of that. The Beatles will always be a priority for me. I brought the Beatles in film article from whatever this was to where it is now, as well as added a proper lead to List of the Beatles' live performances (plus an image). Thanks again for your kind words about my FLs. I'm really proud of them and am really happy to know others benefit from seeing them improved :-) – zmbro (talk) 00:55, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
- I'll answer you tomorrow - I'm a bit busy at the moment trying to write an article on a book I have never read :) Another thing to do tomorrow will be to order a copy! --kingboyk (talk) 01:26, 25 February 2020 (UTC)
- I'm not usually a fan of list articles, but I love these lists of songs, with the columns saying which release they debuted on and (very importantly to me) who wrote the song. It appeals to my music collector gene :) And what reasonable person doesn't love a discography?! I suppose this is because many list articles here are indiscrimimate, potentially very long, and often could be replaced by categories, whereas the work you are doing is in the best traditions of Record Collector - the magazine, by the way, which first alerted me to The KLF as an independent band on their own label with a rich history, and not just the faceless dance music producers I heard on the radio! Please let me know if you ever do one of those song lists for Bob Dylan! (not a good idea probably, it would take years to compile :D)
- On reflection I really don't think I have the heart to go through quality assessment processes again with the KLF discography, nor to do any major work on it, especially as the WikiProject is no longer active and there to help. Any advice you left which would require major changes would probably fall on deaf ears and I don't want to waste your time. I do now know, however, who to come for if I want some editing advice :) Thank you for the offer. I'm still a bit sore that we're not allowed to use album and single covers in discographies and that The KLF got demoted when I was inactive and nobody stepped in to save it, but c'est la vie. --kingboyk (talk) 15:18, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
- kingboyk I enjoy song lists as well. To me, it's nice to have a single list that contains every song an artist has recorded/written and I've done my best to bring as many as I can to justice. Dylan does have a song list, List of songs written by Bob Dylan, but it's in really rough shape. Zero sources and last I checked, nothing complied with MOS. It took a while to fix the quote issue with The Rolling Stones list so I know it'd take just as long or longer for that one. Like I said earlier, I do plan on bringing the Clash's song page to FL in the future and we'll have to see about others. McCartney's and Bowie's song lists took forever as they have over 400 each, with Bowie even having dozens of re-recorded stuff. The last song page I actually made was the Cars and I've thought about making others that don't exist yet, maybe Springsteen and Duran Duran. – zmbro (talk) 18:42, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering you, but...
- New Page Patrol needs experienced volunteers
- New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
- Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.

Just as an aside, I would also love to see those classic Bowie albums from 1970 to 1980 all reach GA status, and if you need any help in writing or locating some articles, I may be able to help – when I'm in the UK I have access to the British Library, so I can look up all the original reviews and interviews in NME, Melody Maker, etc. I also have some notes I scribbled down from John Milward's original Rolling Stone review of Low from 1977... I think the online site only has the retrospective review from 2001. Richard3120 (talk) 20:33, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
- Richard3120 Holy crap I'd greatly appreciate that! I've taken care of Hunky Dory for the most part although it's still got a few things to go before it's good. I currently have access to Cann, Doggett, Pegg (2016 edition), Buckley (2005 edition), Spitz (through the Open Library), and as of today O'Leary (Rebel Rebel). Cann has a bunch of those original reviews which is nice but if I could get the originals that'd be even better. I've begun working a little on Aladdin Sane but am far from completion. A while ago I greatly expanded the reception for Pin Ups and a little for Aladdin. Ziggy is one of my all-time favs so I plan to do that one as well. It'll take quite a while since as of late I'm pretty much the only editor working on Bowie articles so I'd greatly appreciate any help you could give! :-) – zmbro (talk) 21:07, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, I figured you had the Pegg book - I have that, Buckley's and Trynka's biographies, Paolo Hewitt's Album by Album (not that useful, but nice pictures), plus the 33 1/3 book on Low, all on Kindle. I know exactly what you mean: most of those books have quotes from the original reviews, but it would be good to quote them directly, and see if those reviews have anything else worth quoting. I have so many albums on my "to do" list, and your writing is excellent, so I'm quite happy to leave it to you and supply the necessary information whenever I can... obviously living in South America and with the current travel situation, I doubt I'll be back in London this year now, so I hope you don't mind waiting... The BL also has almost complete collections of Q and Mojo as well, handy for retrospective stuff... sadly Sounds and Record Mirror are missing most of the years 1976 to 1980 (Record Mirror at least is on the American Radio History website), so that's a problem for the Berlin-era albums, but I'll see what I can do. Richard3120 (talk) 21:51, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
- Richard3120 Thank you so much! Yeah, I know this project will take quite a while, considering I have a somewhat busy schedule irl and I know once the quarantine is over it'll only get busier. It'd be really nice to get those original Q reviews especially because I can't find those anywhere. There's absolutely no rush, I'd appreciate any help I can get. Thanks again :-) – zmbro (talk) 13:52, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- Well Q only began in 1987, so I'm assuming you're talking about reissues or retrospective appreciations? For the early 70s albums, the Library does have NME, Melody Maker, Sounds from March 1971 onwards, and I think also Disc and Let It Rock (which only ran from 1973 to 1975, so it's only going to be useful for Aladdin Sane, Pin-Ups, Diamond Dogs and Young Americans). ZigZag and Rolling Stone are there too, but incomplete. Coverage of Record Mirror is patchy at the Library, but American Radio History has 1973 to 1978 almost complete. Richard3120 (talk) 14:06, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
- Richard3120 Oh yeah that's right I forgot Q didn't start until later. Yeah, reissues and retrospectives reviews make more sense. I know there probably exists a few for his 70s work, which were all reissued on Rykodisc in the 90s. It'd be nice to get reviews in general, both contemporary and retrospective, as they give insight into what people thought and think. It's good to know some archives are complete but we'll have to make do with the ones that aren't. – zmbro (talk) 14:14, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

- Hey Zim. Obviously kept your talk on my watchlist from previous-like; saw Richard post with "David Bowie albums", and thought "Hey man!" ... There's plenty on Dame Dave (Smash Hits/Q-speak) at Rock's Backpages. I'm a subscriber (they got my credit card, the years go by, I can't seem to kick the habit). Let me know if you like the look of anything there. Cheers, JG66 (talk) 09:02, 14 May 2020 (UTC)
Ziggy Stardust (song)
Hello:
The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article "Ziggy Stardust" has been completed.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
This is the first time I have come across an article within an article on a cover version of a song (complete with an Infobox!). I'm wondering whether you'll get some push back when the article is reviewed for GA. Perhaps it should be spun out as a stub article of its own? The information is interesting but largely irrelevant to the Bowie article, in my opinion.
Best of luck moving forward with the article.
Regards,
Twofingered Typist (talk) 15:15, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
- Twofingered Typist Thanks for the ce! Yeah I surprised with how much info I was able to find on Bauhaus's recording. I don't think I've seen a cover version have it's own article before (or maybe they are just that uncommon) but that probably wouldn't be seen as the best option. There are tons of covers that completely outshine the original (i.e. the Beatles' "Twist and Shout" and Johnny Cash's "Hurt") and it seems Bauhaus's version is deemed a good as Bowie's (I listened to it while expanding and the track fits gothic rock very well). But yeah we'll see what the GA reviewer says. Thanks again for the ce! :-) – zmbro (talk) 17:21, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Sorry, I still had this page on my watchlist following our conversation above, and I just wanted to point out this from WP:SONGCOVER: "When a song has renditions (recorded or performed) by more than one artist, a particular artist's rendition should be included in the song's article (never in a separate article)". So including the Bauhaus version within this article is correct... there are several articles which include two or more cover versions within them (see "Tainted Love", "Word Up! (song)" and I'm Not in Love", for example, each with multiple infoboxes). Richard3120 (talk) 17:59, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

Copyedit request for the GOCE for Hunky Dory
Hi Zmbro, Tenryuu here from the Guild of Copy Editors. I'm sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with your request. Are you still looking to have it copy edited or are you withdrawing your request? You appear to be working on it regularly. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 22:52, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
- Tenryuu Hello! Yeah, there's still quite a bit of info left to be added. While I would still appreciate a thorough ce, I'll go ahead and withdraw my request for now, as I plan to continue adding info and more references, so I'll request again when I'm 99% done. Thank you! :-) – zmbro (talk) 22:55, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

- Kyle Peake Not too bad! Hanging in there just like everyone else. I haven't had anyone close to me contract the virus so that's good. How about yourself? – zmbro (talk) 13:47, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- I'm doing alright thanks, currently been working a lot on this site as you have probably seen at WP; all of the Ye articles are currently at GA status and I am going to be taking a look through soon to fix any potential issues with them before nominating for a good topic. Would the topic be of interest to you, currently? --Kyle Peake (talk) 14:54, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake Congrats on that! Probably not as I still have a ton of other projects I'm working on. I've also been pretty busy irl. But I'll gladly support the nomination once you do nominate it. You don't need to add me as a co-nom. Even though I did conduct the GAR for a few of those, I mainly brought a few West songs off Yeezus and "Ultralight Beam" to GA but nothing off ye so I wouldn't feel right being co-nominated. But if you wanted to mention me in the description that'd be appreciated (if not I won't be upset I'll still support no matter what). Side note I'm really excited for West's new album. "Wash Us in the Blood" was totally a combo of JiK and Yeezus so I'm looking forward to see what he does next (definitely won't be running for president ;-)) – zmbro (talk) 17:42, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah the single is great and I'm a fan of his recent feature "Ego Death" too, sorry about the late response I was busy with GAN and GT. But on that subject actually, I was glad to see you commented on the good topic nomination of mine and I hope to bring even more of West's articles to that status in the future, are you glad to see how far I've come since our early interactions? --Kyle Peake (talk) 16:45, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake Absolutely! I've been checking out your work periodically since our collaborations (I like to know how editors I've interacted with are doing) and I'm really impressed with how far you've come. Seeing you bring so many articles to GA as well as become a regular GAN reviewer is really awesome. I myself have just written my first album GA (Hunky Dory) and plan to bring other Bowie articles and songs to GA and you've been an inspiration, especially after seeing you promote The Life of Pablo and other West songs whose articles have been stubs for YEARS now (i.e. "Touch the Sky"). Congrats again, I can't wait to see what the future has in store for you. :-) – zmbro (talk) 14:09, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

- Thanks a lot man! Good luck with the Bowie articles in the upcoming times, I think in the future I may promote more good topics though. If I wanted to create a GT for Jesus Is King, would you be willing to participate? --Kyle Peake (talk) 14:29, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake You should really work on making Yeezus a GT as I think all that's left is "New Slaves" and "I'm In It". I haven't checked out the individual song pages for JiK but is there enough info on each track for each to be a GA? Congrats on "Follow God" btw, love that song. – zmbro (talk) 15:52, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah I'll take a look, though the Yeezus Tour will need to be added too and the songs do have potential to become GAs from independent sources and those of Jesus Is King; how about the film though, could that become a GA? Another question I have is about chart positions in the commercial performance section; should they be ordered from highest to lowest or by geographical locations (I know US always comes first for West articles by the way)? --Kyle Peake (talk) 16:44, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake What film? And charts are ordered by geographic location. – zmbro (talk) 20:53, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

- Kyle Peake Oh yeah I actually forgot there was a JiK film lol. If it were me I would but that's up to you. If it's only occurred in one article that's one story but if it's occurred in 20 that could take some time. So up to you. – zmbro (talk) 16:18, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

As per your suggestion, I'm not keeping track of your edits, I just browse new good articles related to topics of interest. I'm a bit curious why you don't cite a lot of release information in your articles, but...Andrzejbanas (talk) 00:56, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- Andrzejbanas Ah that makes sense. In the featured lists I've written in the past, I've used album liner notes as sourcing in the tables, which include release years so I must've assumed when doing articles the same thing applies. Now that I know they don't, I'll be sure going forward to properly cite them. In the books I have on Bowie, they have complete discographies so it shouldn't be a problem. – zmbro (talk) 13:42, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
- Much appreciated. :) Great work on the Bowie articles! Andrzejbanas (talk) 13:46, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

Bowie Low reference doesn't include claimed information
Hello
I see you're very active on the Low album page, and I'm not sure how to correct / mark citations where the reference given doesn't contain the information claimed. It's this one: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Low_(David_Bowie_album)#cite_note-32 Supposedly Visconti's son developed the "A-B-C" theme in Warszawa, but it's not in the citation. (I was suspicious when listening to the track and couldn't really hear anything like a A-B-C theme in any case).
I'm not on here much, so I don't know if I'll get a notification if you reply, but rather than dive in and just remove a reference I thought I'd run it by you first!
adriantoll (talk) 17:59, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Adriantoll! Thanks for notifying me of this. I haven't really done too much to Low as of yet (I'm still working on other Bowie articles), so I definitely would've missed this. I'm positive Pegg and/or O'Leary can clear this up but for now, you can put the failed verification template next to the source and I'll be sure to check it out when I can. Thanks again! :-) – zmbro (talk) 03:58, 4 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi,
I have been continuing to work on "Follow God" as I am sure you will be glad to hear, but is this a reliable source for the writing credits of the sample? --K. Peake 21:29, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake Hey Kyle! Doubt that's an RS. I'm positive Metrolyrics is reliable but I'd have to double-check. Maybe try asking Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums. – zmbro (talk) 22:51, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah I have done that now, do you know where else I can find info about the writers of "Can You Lose by Following God" maybe? --K. Peake 05:22, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake No idea. Is that like a foreign language version of "Follow God"? I personally don't see the significance of that, unless it was a version West himself recorded in a different language (Bowie did that a few times with "Space Oddity" and "'Heroes'"). If it's by a completely different artist I don't see the significance. What is the significance here exactly? (haven't read the article) – zmbro (talk) 21:18, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- No, it's the work that the single samples; look at the article to see what I have done with the writing credits as I'm sure you will like that. --K. Peake 05:18, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake Ohhhhh I get it now. I actually didn't know what the sampled song was called; I thought it was similar to "Father Stretch My Hands" so that's on me. You haven't been able to find an RS that describes what the sample is nor gives the lyrical portion? I find that strange, as I recall us being able to find those types of sources when initially expanding the many TLoP and Yeezus tracks we did. – zmbro (talk) 14:57, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
- I have found sources that describe the sample and what lyrical portion is employed, though just could not find one stating directly who wrote the Whole Truth track; look at "Follow God" now and the citations to see what fix I have made, then tell me what you think! --K. Peake 16:04, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

Could you apply that date formatting tool to this article please since I do not know how and it is close to GA? --K. Peake 10:54, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake Done. You can install this script to your common.js page for future use. – zmbro (talk) 13:12, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot for that, the song is in the very near stages to a nomination but since it is quite large I would like to ask can the article be classified as too extensive, say the live performances section for example, or is it relatively fine? --K. Peake 16:32, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake That section does seem a little long. You could probably simply some things and not be so detailed when it comes to sporadic individual performances. You also might be able to add another para to the lead but that's just me. – zmbro (talk) 20:50, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah that is true in quite a few cases, are you glad to see the article so large though? --K. Peake 20:52, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake For sure. Really great to see how far you've come as an editor. Looking forward to seeing which articles related to discography you go next. And if Donda ever releases you'll have more :-) – zmbro (talk) 20:58, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, the prospect of working on upcoming articles along with what's currently there is awesome. I have now finished "Can't Tell Me Nothing" for its GA nomination and did expand the lead which was planned by me initially even before you mentioned that; I am not expecting a review from you since the article is massive but take a look if you want to give any comments about this lengthy article! --K. Peake 18:56, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

I noticed that you had merged all of the different tables into one for weekly charts, then did the same for year-end charts. However, I have changed this since it does not allow users to properly sort the positions for each separate time period, understand? --K. Peake 07:05, 28 September 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake Yeah I guess. Seeing a whole bunch of little tables just bugs me. Maybe having year be it's own col on the left would be better. – zmbro (talk) 16:38, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for quality articles about music from England, such as Hunky Dory, Moonage Daydream and Ziggy Stardust (song), for incredible lists in the field such as List of songs recorded by the Beatles, for GA reviewing, for adding honesty, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

Sorry about the question mark.
Ziggy Stardust WAS released 6 June 1972. That was the day the tour began. (discogs has the date)

Yo, why did you revert my image? Epppp (talk) 21:01, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

No need to be so damn rude. Epppp (talk) 21:10, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

- Kyle Peake Hey Kyle! Thanks again for reviewing. Greatly appreciate it and it's really cool to see how far you've come from "On Sight". I personally think I came off as hostile a few times and I'm sorry about that. I know we have different writing and reviewing styles and I think that got the best of me in some of my responses. ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message
Hello, I am having an issue about the lead of this article as I am currently preparing it for GA-nominee status. In the release and reception section, I have mentioned the song's initial release as Tidal only but then wrote about how it was released to Apple and Spotify on March 30, 2016, though added a note about the ultimate release of TLOP to numerous retailers. However, how can I mention the initial release of the song, then the March 30 release in the lead without mentioning the final release of the album, or does the lead only make sense if I mention all three? --K. Peake 18:29, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake Hello there. First off, it surprises me that you're able to find enough info about that track to be able to make it a GA. I would think about it in terms of the song itself. Imo, in the case of TLoP, it's only necessary to mention further releases if the track were updated after Feb 2016; this was the case with "Father Stretch My Hands". I don't imagine a reader reading about "I Love Kanye" is going to be thinking about when it was released on different streaming services (they'll probably only be reading about it for the meme). If you want to mention it in the body you can, but that type of info isn't really relevant for the lead section, especially for that song (unless it was updated after Feb 2016). Does that help? – zmbro (talk) 19:00, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- Yes it does help thank you since I was considering mentioning it in a similar manner to the "No More Parties in LA" release info, though I have successfully nominated the article for GA status and you may be surprised at how large it really is! (Sorry about the late response) --K. Peake 19:34, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake All good man. I find it crazy how you were able to pull that off. You never fail to impress me :-) – zmbro (talk) 21:29, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Can you fix the dead links on this article for me please, as I have been blocked from using the tool for no apparent reason? --K. Peake 14:59, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake I'm apparently blocked too. Must be a tool thing and not an us thing. – zmbro (talk) 23:23, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
- Yes that is unfortunate, though I went through the sources and archived them all despite it being somewhat tedious. Still do enjoy Wiki however, but I'd like to ask if it makes sense to mention the Ireland and Sweden chart positions in the lead of "Lift Yourself" but not the New Zealand one in the context that the latter of the three was on the Heatseekers chart? Take a look if you wish to find out more information... --K. Peake 17:18, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake First off, I do congratulate you on expanding that song as well as you did. I believe I worked a little on expanding it maybe 2 years ago at this point and thought there was no way it'd get any bigger so kudos to you on that. Regarding your question, I think if you mention those 2 there's no reason you shouldn't mention the other. I also know what you mean. I've gotten used to just using archived urls as I'm doing the edit instead of later. Find it easier that way. – zmbro (talk) 18:10, 10 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you, yeah it really does feel great to bring songs that are considered hard to expamd up to GA status. As for the links, I do find myself adding them with archives at times too, and I've updated "Lift Yourself". ---K. Peake 18:38, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

- That is a reasonable decision with the context given, though hopefully someone will pick up a few of my articles soon since there are a lot of good article nominations but a lack of reviews right now, weirdly... --K. Peake 17:07, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
