Your edits on Constitution of India
[edit]- You had added the following text on the above article:
- Caste and Religion In India. Though India is Democratic and Republic Country, Indian Parliament has enacted many Acts and Laws on caste based systems and openly support the Kumbh Mela for Hindus and Haj Piligrims for Muslims. There is no uniform civil code for Citizens. There are many judgements from Supreme Court which contradict the Constitution of India or Indian Parliament where as citizens support Parliament instead of Supreme Court and this is new type of Democracy and Republican where all most all citizens are interested in caste based system and Religion.
- The Prime minister and President (all past and present also) openly support the Religion and Caste system.
- I have removed this text because:
- Acts and Laws on caste based systems - for example??
- openly support the Kumbh Mela for Hindus and Haj Piligrims for Muslims, openly support the Religion - because India is a secular country, therefore, the government cannot favour one religion over the other.
- The Prime minister and President (all past and present also) openly support the Religion and Caste system. - again, for example?? which PMs and Presidents?? what instances??
- There are many judgements from Supreme Court which contradict the Constitution of India or Indian Parliament where as citizens support Parliament instead of Supreme Court - once again, examples are missing.
- this is new type of Democracy and Republican where all most all citizens are interested in caste based system and Religion. - This is outright nonsense and in your point of view. I, as an Indian citizen, am not casteist, nor is anybody I know. And if you read the news, you may know how the Indian population is protesting against the government's policy of reservation for backward classes.
- I have removed this text because:

- Sources of Information. Uniform Civil Code, Different Marriage Act for Muslims, hindus, Shah Bano Case and Bank Naionalization Case, all these gives the information. On the website of Prime Minister of India and The President of India, we see every 15 days greeting on the occasions of Religion Days at he Cost of those who do not belive in Religion. Present President APJ Abdul Kalam is from Science Branch and has offered Chaddar for Ajmer and same was news for General Public at the cost of you and me who do not believe in Caste, etc., etc. Somnath temple is the Monumnet of Indian Caste System. MK Gandhi, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, KM Munshi and Dr. Rajendra Prasad were involved in the construction of Somnath Temple.

- Somnath Temple. Hi Voraji - Kem chcho? I know that your edits are of good quality, but I request you to please understand that India and Mahatma Gandhi are Wikipedia:Featured article. There is a special way of writing them, as per WP:MOS. We cannot have sub-sections on Somnath in the middle, breaking the proper stream of writing.

Your Contributions
[edit]- Hi,
- I have seen you around for the last few days and have noticed that you can contribute quite well with expert's knowledge. However, intersperced with these are a few edits that qualify as original research. Since you have been adding them to talk pages, they aren't removed from there, but please understand that a lot of editors frown upon when they see the talk pages becoming message boards and discussion forums on Original Research topics. I request you to please add data/information only when you can cite verifiable sources, irrespective of whether its article or its talk page. Example of things that qualify as original research are "Somnath Temple is monument of Caste System", "Political Parties get their votes on caste system", etc. Thanks, -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 19:33, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well I differ from Ambuj in one aspect. I do not think it is necessary to cite sources in one's user page/talk page. Its freedom of speech. Unless you talk something extremely radical and seditious. "Somnath Temple is monument of Caste System", "Political Parties get their votes on caste system", etc - qualify as neither! Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 19:43, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- I think Dwaipayan got me wrong. I wasn't talking about user page or user talk pages. I was talking about article talk pages. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 20:11, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Oh! that's bad miss! Yes, in that case one should substantiate with reference, if one is trying to put forward a particular point of view. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 20:19, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Poverty And Hunger : There are many Hungry poors in Indian subcontinent than African subcontinent and India is on top. Border of Pakistan and India (near Punjab, Rajasthan, Kutch) is waste land but Indus Sindhu river pass through this land. Land is plain in surface and can be converted in green belt. Reader of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia are requested to find out some solution to eradicate the poverty in Indian subcontinent. vkvora 03:35, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- Voraji, I think you have not understood what Wikipedia stands for. Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thoughts. It is not a place to socialize and bring about a revolution in real life. The problem of poverty and hunger exist, but Wikipedia is not the place to eradicate it. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. There are greater goods of humanity, but this is not the right place to raise your concerns. There are many online forums I know which will be receptive to your concerns and suggestions. It is essential to have vegetables to live, but its not the job a dispensary to provide them. Eradication of poverty is the vegetable (without which its not possible to live) but Wikipedia is a dispensary (which doesn't sell vegetables). Of course if you want suppliments, you can contribute well-researched and referenced encyclopedic articles on Poverty in India (the dietary vitamin suppliment found at dispensary). Please take my advice once. Avoid raising these issue for the next one month. Till then you will be familiarized with Wikipedia enough and you will yourself stop writing original thoughts here. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 09:19, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- I am sorry I once again differ with Ambuj in just one regard. Voraji is talking in his user talk page and he is free to talk anything. However, of course if he wants to tell these things in an article, he has to substantiate with well-resourced facts.--Dwaipayan (talk) 09:35, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- This was a common reply to his edits here and Talk:India. Of course he can write whatever he wants here, but I reiterated as seeing the reply in Talk:India and here, Voraji was likely to raise the issue again in article talk pages, which I believe is a waste of time. So I just wanted to take him into confidence about Wikipedia's policy. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 09:45, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

- Hi, I see you have some knowledge on the Caste system, I was wondering if you would have the time to look over Khatri as this article doesn't really conform to WP:NPOV, it also needs to cite its sources. Thanks. Nobleeagle (Talk) 05:55, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Dash & emdash
[edit]- Vkvora2001, clearly english is not your first language. The location of the dash is grammatically correct, and makes it easier to read. There is no capital or bolding involved at all. Please stop going against the views of the other editors, whose english is better than your. -- Jeff3000 04:18, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Vkvora2001, what you wrote on my talk page makes absolutely no sense. A dash is a way of dividing connecting phrases, much like a comma, but a dash makes that seperation stronger. Capitals are letters at the beginning of sentences, and have nothing to do with dashs. Bolding also has nothing to do with it. If you see it in bold, then it is your browser's fault; the way the sentence is structured in most english browsers on english operating systems is just fine. -- Jeff3000 04:30, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- If you want more help in understanding how dash's work, I could help you, but please know that the current structure of the sentence is just fine. :) -- Jeff3000 04:31, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- From the dash article: "The em dash is used in much the way a colon or set of parentheses is used: it can show an abrupt change in thought or be used where a period is too strong and a comma too weak."
- Hope that helps, -- Jeff3000 04:40, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- If this: — does not look like a long dash, then you are probably using an obsolete browser that does not correctly display Unicode-encoded text. This will impose a number of inconveniences on your use of Wikipedia. If you cannot upgrade whatever browser you're using, I suggest you download one that's standard compliant such as Firefox. Alternately, your browser may simply not be changing encoding schemes automatically, and you can try setting it to Unicode manually. It's also possible you lack fonts with proper Unicode support.
- TCC (talk) (contribs) 04:47, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- - emdash look like capital and bold enlgish 9th letter I, not in my computer but almost all the computers.
- 59.184.141.109 05:03, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- In that case, all of the computers (what computers? In a library or something?) are set up with obsolete, non-standards-compliant browsers. Please don't expect us to accomodate them.

You requested that this be posted on the World Heritage Site article, which is not quite right, since only sites which have already been proclaimed are included there. Dholavira is still being nominated, and based on the reports by the Indian media, not likely in the near future, with them prioritizing the Red Fort and a pilgrimage center in Jammu first. It will be more appropriate to highlight its value for nomination in the Dholavira article. Beside, if such information is included here, then it is a legitimate excuse for other nominations, which may or may not even get the final nod to be included. Please understand, this is an article pertaining to what has been included on the List, not on which places have the potential. Much like how the Olympic Games website only include host cities of past editions as well as approved hosts for future editions, not bids, which are placed in separate articles to avoid any confusion this might cause to those using wikipedia as reference. --Joey80 08:04, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

India has been judged as the sixth most dangerous country
[edit]- India 6th most dangerous country for kids: Poll
- New Delhi, August 7: India has been judged as the sixth most dangerous country for children in the world, according to a recent poll. Afghanistan, Palestinian territories, Myanmar and Chechnya were placed better than India in the poll conducted by Reuters Alertnet, a humanitarian news website run by Reuters Foundation, Rajya Sabha was told today.
- During the survey, the website asked more than 110 aid experts and journalists to highlight the most dangerous places for children. The first five dangerous countries are Sudan, Northern Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq and Somalia, Minister of State (independent charge) for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury said while replying to a written question.
- The facts that have been taken into account for the poll survey include the children involved in armed conflict, the psychological trauma experienced by children caught up in violence, the children living in poverty and forced to work to support themselves and their families and malnutrition among children, the minister said.

One third or over 200 Million People of rural India lives on Rs 12.00 (One US Doller= about 48.00 Rs.)
[edit]Press Trust of India Posted online. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 2128 hours IST Updated. Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 1121 hours IST.
New Delhi, December 27. Indian economy may be expanding rapidly, but about one third of its rural population or over 200 million people still live on less than Rs 12 per day.
The National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) report "Level and Pattern of Consumer Expenditure, 2004-05" released today also revealed that Orissa, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and UP remain the poorest states in the country in terms of Monthly Per Capita Consumer Expenditure (MPCE) of rural population.
"Compared with 30 per cent at the all-India level, in Orissa and Chattisgarh as many as 55-57 per cent of villagers were, in 2004-05, living below the MPCE level of Rs 365, which is Rs 12 a day," the NSSO report said, adding that 10 per cent of all-India rural population was living at just Rs 9 per day.
In Madhya Pradesh, 47 per cent of rural population is living on Rs 12 a day followed by Bihar and Jharkhand (46 per cent), Uttar Pradesh (33 per cent), Karnataka (32 per cent) and Maharashtra (30 per cent).
Items of consumption defined by the study include clothing, footwear, education, medical care, durable goods and all other items like food, fuel, light, rents and taxes.
However, the Urban poor appeared to be faring slightly better as 30 per cent of such people was found to be spending Rs 580 per month, that is Rs 19 a day. But 10 per cent of the urban population had to live at just Rs 13 a day in 2004-05.
Urban poverty seems to be concentrated in those states, where rural poverty is high.
In Bihar, as much as 55 per cent of urban population is living at Rs 19 per day, followed by Orissa (50 per cent), UP and Chattisgarh (44 per cent), Madhya Pradesh (43 per cent) and Rajasthan (36 per cent).vkvora 04:18, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit]PM Writes to CMs Asking them to take Urgent Measures
January 16, 2007
Dibrugarh, Assam
Expressing deep concern over the poor implementation of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme, the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has urged all States and Union Territories to set up an institutionalized review process at their level to exclusively deal with ICDS, after carrying out a detailed assessment of this Programme. While doing so, he also urged them to lay special emphasis on the Programme status in areas with concentration of minority communities and preponderance of Scheduled Castes and Tribes.
In a recent letter to Chief Ministers of all States and Union Territories, Dr. Singh pointed out that unless we take stock of the present position and remove the lacunae, universalization will mostly remain on paper and will not help our children secure a brighter future. “The core objective of the ICDS Scheme in the 11th Plan should be universalization with quality”, he stressed. The Prime Minister expressed serious concern over under-nutrition in the 0-6 age group and poor immunization status under ICDS.
Following is the text of the Prime Minister’s letter in this regard:
“I would like to share with you my concern over the implementation of the Integrated Child Development Services(ICDS) Scheme. A number of reports and surveys, including the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-3) and Focus on Children Under Six (FOCUS) seem to indicate a noticeable decline in the qualitative aspects of the programme. Recent judgements by the Hon’ble Supreme Court have also highlighted these problems.
There is strong evidence that the programme has not led to any substantial improvement in the nutritional status of children under six. Our prevalent rate of under-nutrition in this age group remains one of the highest in the world. Immunization status under ICDS continues to be poor. The coverage status is also a matter of concern and about 11 crore children, out of a total of 16 crore in the 0-6 age group, remain unreached. These are startling figures and the situation calls for urgent action. Therefore, I urge you to set up an institutionalized review process at your level to exclusively deal with ICDS, after carrying out a detailed assessment of this programme in your State. While doing so, you may also please lay special emphasis on the programme status in areas with concentration of minority communities and preponderance of Scheduled Castes and Tribes.
My own reading of these reports and surveys lead me to believe that proper implementation of the programme critically depends on political will, decentralized monitoring and meticulous attention to day-to-day operational issues. Otherwise, problems like irregular functioning of Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), inability to provide hot, cooked food and leakage of food material meant for infants, will persist. You may appreciate that there is a need to adequately empower Panchayati Raj Institutions(PRIs) and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to monitor and supervise the working of these centers and to make the line officials firmly accountable for their actions. Some States, in particular Tamil Nadu, have managed to build in these features in their standard operating procedures. It would be useful to learn from their experiences.
We are in the process of universalizing ICDS. But I am afraid, unless we take stock of the present situation and remove the lacunae, universalization will mostly remain on paper and will not help our children secure a brighter future. The core objective of the ICDS Scheme in the 11th Plan should be universalization with quality.
I should be grateful for your response and for keeping me posted on a regular, say quarterly basis, on further developments in this sector.”

Common dictionary definitions of truth mention some form of accord with fact or reality. There is no single definition of truth about which the majority of scholars agree, and numerous theories of truth continue to be widely debated. There are many differing claims on such questions as what constitutes truth, how to define and identify truth, what roles do revealed and acquired knowledge play, and whether truth is subjective, relative, objective, or absolute. Nearly 50 percent of the world's hungry live in India
[edit]- "World Hunger - India" http://www.wfp.org/country_brief/indexcountry.asp?country=356
Overview
[edit]- Nearly 50 percent of the world's hungry live in India, a low-income, food-deficit country. Around 35 percent of India's population - 350 million - are considered food-insecure, consuming less than 80 percent of minimum energy requirements.
- Nutritional and health indicators are extremely low. Nearly nine out of 10 pregnant women aged between 15 and 49 years suffer from malnutrition and anaemia. Anaemia in pregnant women causes 20 percent of infant mortality. More than half of the children under five are moderately or severely malnourished, or suffer from stunting.

What is Stand Up?
[edit]- Launched by the United Nations Millennium Campaign, STAND UP is an exciting challenge to set an official Guinness World Record for the greatest number of people ever to Stand Up Against Poverty and for the Millennium Development Goals.
- On October 15&16, the world will come together and STAND UP and remind their governments that promises to achieve the Millennium Development Goals and help the billions living in extreme poverty, must be kept.
- The purpose of the action is to raise awareness of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and to publicly demonstrate to policy makers the growing global support for the eradication of poverty.
Stand Up because
[edit]- Every day 24,000 people die from hunger
- Every day more than 100 million children are denied the chance to go to school
- Every day 1.1 billion people have to drink polluted water
- Every day 8,200 people die due to HIV/AIDS

India Demographics
[edit]Because of India's rich diversity, no one image can represent all of India's one billion people. That is why I propose selecting a new demographics image every three months. This would allow for a regional balance and would show India as a whole. Many people have agreed that this is the only way to represent India's rich and varied diversity. Since you have voted for a change in the demographics section, I wanted to update you on this proposal. I would love to hear your comments on talk:India. Thanks so much. Have a great day!

Corruption in India and Surat Loot in 1664
[edit]In 1664 the Maratha leader Shivaji sacked and looted Surat. When Shivaji arrived at Surat he demanded tribute from the Mughal commander and the small army stationed with him for port security. The tribute was refused and so after Shivaji took the city, he put it to sack. Surat was under sack for nearly 3 weeks, in which the army looted all possible wealth from Mughal & Portuguese trading centers. All this loot was successfully transported to Maharashtra before the Mughal Empire at Delhi was alerted. This wealth later was used for development & strengthening the Maratha Empire.
The only exception to the looting was the British factory, a fortified warehouse-counting house-hostel, which was successfully defended by Sir George Oxenden. But the prosperity of the factory at Surat received a fatal blow when Bombay was ceded to the British as part of the dowry for Catherine of Braganza's wedding to Charles II in 1662. Shortly afterwards in 1668 another factory was established in Bombay(Mumbai) by the British East India Company. From that date Surat began to decline with the rise of British interests in Bombay, and the city was sacked again by Shivaji in 1670. By 1689 the seat of presidency was moved to Bombay by the British East India Company. The Surat population had reached an estimated 800,000 in its heyday, but by the middle of the 19th century the number had fallen to 80,000. Surat was again taken by the British in 1759, and the conquerors assumed the undivided government of the city in 1800. Since the introduction of British rule, the city and the surrounding district remained comparatively tranquil; and even during the Revolt of 1857(also known as the first struggle for India's independence) peace was not disturbed, owing in great measure to the loyalty of the leading Muslim families to the British and to the largely mercantile interests of the local population.

A tag has been placed on Bharat Jain Mahamandal, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 172.130.152.219 17:57, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Shivaji : Wily Brave Warrior
[edit]- It used to say “wily” (larger version available here). Someone, assumedly from the Archeological Survey of India (ASI), has replaced “wily” with “brave” as an adjective for Shivaji. I don’t know when, and I don’t know why, but I wonder if the ASI was covering its butt after recent communal unrest in Maharashtra concerning a book about Shivaji…
Some of us are planning to reorganize the article Jainism, and perhaps some of the related articles.
Since you have made significant contributions to the article in the past, it would be great if you can give us some suggestions at the talk page Talk:Jainism. Thanks.

- Please, do not be offended by the warning above. Wikipedia is edited and maintained by thousands upon thousands of volunteers. Some may make a mistake about the policies and guidelines. In general these guidelines are benevolent, and of course, let's the user discuss the subject at hand on its talk page. Thanks for being here, and making time to edit the Wikipedia. That's not incorrect understanding about policy. You wrote something in that page which seemed to me a poem or something else, not relevant to that discussion page. I also noticed you have some history of using article discussion page as chat or forum. Instead of, you should discuss about article problem or its development. That would be helpful. Thank you--NAHID 18:14, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Request for help, please
[edit]Greetings Vkvora2001,
Could you kindly help me translate these two short articles into the brilliant Gujarati language? Please.
ઇસુ ખ્રિસ્ત (Isu Kʰrist, 8–2 BC to 29–36 AD), also known as Jesus of Nazareth, is the central figure of Christianity. He is commonly referred to as Jesus Christ, where "Christ" is a Greek-derived title meaning "Anointed One" Most Christians believe in Jesus as the Son of God sent to provide salvation and reconciliation with God by atoning for the sins of humanity.
બાઇબલ (Bāibal) is the holy book of Christianity. It is considered to have the word of God by all Christians. The Christian version of the Bible includes the 39 books of the Old Testament (originally written Hebrew) and the 27 books of the New Testament (originally written in Greek). As of 2003, the Bible, or some portion of it, has been translated into more than 2,300 languages or dialects.
Your help would be very Gratefully Appreciated, Thankyou very much. --Jose77 (talk) 02:29, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
