Would you be able to help with fixing up Tropical cyclone to avoid a FARC? I'm getting ready to do the intensity section, which will be a lot of work. I should be able to get that done by myself, although it will be quite time-consuming. I don't know exactly how much still has to be done, but I know pop culture needs to be expanded to a worldwide view, and references are outdated in other sections (2000s/older aren't acceptable anymore for certain aspects). The talk page has some information on plans for the article. NoahTalk 02:05, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Hey. I know we have crossed paths every now and then with weather articles, so I wanted to invite you to a new WikiProject, the WikiProject of the Twenty-Tens decade. Thanks for the report at WP:UAA but please note that some wikis allow organisation accounts - see Commons policy for an example, the German wiki is another. Please don't report users at WP:UAA if they haven't edited on this wiki. Cabayi (talk) 19:32, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

- Ah, okay. Citing the German Wiki had confused me. TornadoLGS (talk) 19:48, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on how I explain this to folks. I seem to find a couple of mistaken reports each week. Does the following make it clearer, or sound too preachy?
- There are over 300 language versions of Wikipedia. Are you sure your username is valid in all of them? Receiving a block in 2 or more of them could leave you liable to a global lock without making a single mistake on this wiki. We should WP:AGF until shown otherwise.
- Cheers, Cabayi (talk) 19:58, 3 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Cabayi: It does come across as a tad patronizing. The one thing it does make clear is the potential for global locks. I think something closer to the original version could work, but with an added note that a block here can affect a user's other Wiki accounts, would make the message clearer. Otherwise, it comes across a bit like responding to criminal allegations by citing the laws of other countries where the alleged actions are legal. TornadoLGS (talk) 20:23, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Notability of weather draft - Help requested
Hey TornadoLGS. You have worked with a lot of weather articles, so I was wondering if you could help me with the Draft:Wikipedia:Notability (weather), which I was requested to make for the AfC reviewers. It won't be ready for a while obviously, but if you know some notability tips, feel free to add them. Once the draft feels detailed enough, it will be moved to mainspace as an essay, followed by a WP Weather/AfC discussion and vote to make it official WP:Notability subject-specific guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Arthur Deerin Call
A tag has been placed on Arthur Deerin Call requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Tornado intensity
If I'm correct, why did you restore false information to the article? It's pretty impressive that an event "occurring typically once every few years" could happen eight times from 2008-2011. Also, the source only covers tornadoes in the US, so it's unreliable for saying that no such tornadoes happened between those dates, when elsewhere the article says that Bangladesh and Canada also have violent tornadoes. And why is it so critical to give precise details about dates and little US towns in a worldwide article? This is an encyclopedia, not a newspaper report of tornadoes and reports from years and years ago. 49.198.51.54 (talk) 20:11, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
EF5 is purple?
So ummm the EF scale has an update now with EF5 being purple? Colin777724 (talk) 16:17, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Colin777724: The discussion was mainly in regard to tropical cyclone colors, but the F/EF scales use the same colors as the Saffir-Simpson scale. There is a very lengthy discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Weather#RfC: Changing the color scheme for storm colors to make it more accessible. The main reason is that it makes the colors more distinguishable from each other. TornadoLGS (talk) 21:10, 20 March 2022 (UTC)

Onyema2moro2008 (talk) 23:38, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Onyema2moro2008: I'm afraid I don't have much experience editing articles about living people. I suggest going to the Teahouse where you might get help from someone more experienced in this area. You don't need to copy all that text; just provide a link to the article.
- As to what I can say: The first issue, and the reason I reverted your edit in the first place, is that the information you want to add to the article had to come from somewhere. You will need to provide one or more reliable sources for where you got this information. This is especially important for articles about living people. The page at WP:CITE has information on how to do that. On the content that you added to my talk page, it may be more detailed than needed (we don't needed to know every detail about his career). Parts of it do not adhere to a [[WP:NPOV|neutral point of view. In short, this means that an article should be objective where possible, and not praise or disparage its subject. The basic biographical information you provided at the bottom (date of birth, title(s), number of children ect.) can be summarized by using Template:Infobox person. Again, you might get more help on this at the Teahouse. TornadoLGS (talk) 00:45, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
Should the EF5 tornado wiki page be updated?
I haven't talked to you in a while and I know that there hasn't been any EF5 tornado yet since Moore Oklahoma 2013 but I kinda feel like the section for Possible F5/EF5 tornadoes officially rated F4/EF4 or lower on the https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_F5_and_EF5_tornadoes page should be updated since there has been a couple tornadoes that were really close to being EF5 status which one was the April 12th, 2020 Soso/Bassfield Tornado, another being the December 10th, 2021 Mayfield/Benton, KY Tornado. Those two had velocities over 200mph above ground and weren't confirmed to be but were possibly close to being rated EF5 status since they had actual potential of being EF5's. Also another one on March 25th, 2021 being the Greensboro/Centreville Ef3 Tornado had somehow velocities up to 296 mph on dealt of velocity which someone said that in a chat. I'm not sure how fast the speeds were but if that person was telling the truth then maybe it had that strength over an area where it didn't impact structures. SO yea 3 possible tornadoes being EF5 status that should be on the possible F5/EF5 tornadoes officially rated F4/EF4 or lower. I mean the lost of life is sad and impacts on friends and families is tragic but any tornado can and will indanger the ones that are in it's wake. So do you think that section deserves to be updated or just keep waiting until the next tornado has a chance to be on the list?
- @Colin777724: There would need to be reliable published sources for all of these. I know that there are certainly people who would say the Soso/Bassfield and Mayfield/Benton were EF5s (or at least possible EF5s), but I am not aware of it being in anything reliable enough to cite (honestly, this comes up a lot for tornadoes with high-end EF4 ratings). For the >200 mph wind speeds, I would usually want the source (if one is provided) to still mention possible EF5 status directly, partly because I'm not sure how winds high up in a tornado translate to near-ground speeds, so it's a possible WP:SYNTH issue. As to the third one, I wouldn't put that much stake in in it since: (1) It was just a chat and (2) From what I could find, Delta-V refers to the velocity difference between the two sides of the tornado, rather than the actual wind speed. I don't necessarily doubt that these tornadoes reached EF5 strength, but the issue, again, is the sourcing. There's actually a tornado or two that I'd like to see added (Bowdle, South Dakota May 22, 2010), if only the sources were there. I actually did quite a bit of cleanup of that article (in addition to putting it in the current format) back in 2020 since a lot of the additions were not supported by sources, mostly WP:OR and WP:SYNTH issues. TornadoLGS (talk) 21:53, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
Well man that is some very interesting information you have told me. And that one from 2010 is underrated for the intensity. Yazoo city is also another one that had very strong velocities. 2010 however is just interesting due to there being 13 officially rated EF4 tornadoes and some of them were quite possibly close to the ef5 intensity and status. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Colin777724 (talk • contribs) 01:06, 5 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Colin777724: I hadn't heard anything about Yazoo City possibly being an EF5 outside of misinformed YouTube comments. I have an interest in finding something for Bowdle since Tim Samaras actually made remarks about its possible EF5 status at a lecture I attended in 2012. But I'm not aware of anything that's actually published. TornadoLGS (talk) 01:48, 5 February 2022 (UTC)

Can we add more eye catching headlines to the sections? Thought it would be a nice idea and wanted to see what you think.
From, Smuckers It has to be good
- @Smuckers: In my experience most section headings are pretty minimalist and not made to be eye-catching, and "eye-catching" headings don't seem entirely encyclopedic. MOS:BODY says that headings should generally be

We got a troll in the possible F5/EF5 discussion
That new editor, Caleb Routt, is for sure a troll. On top of debating Mayfield’s addition to the list, he also commented to remove the 2013 El Reno tornado from the list. Fun…I thought having discussions somewhat off-talk page, but still on the talk-page would help stop the trolls from commenting in the Mayfield rating, but somehow they found the discussions. Elijahandskip (talk) 16:34, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Elijahandskip: I saw those comments. I'm going to assume good faith for now since they could be just very strictly adhering to the idea that the EF scale is a damage scale and not a wind scale. But I'll see what more happens. TornadoLGS (talk) 16:56, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- Well, my good faith assumptions just ran out. They just tried to delete 2013 El Reno from the list. [2] Elijahandskip (talk) 20:12, 11 November 2022 (UTC)

WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors
Dear project member, This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.
We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 03:35, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

Reporting dormant accounts to WP:UAA
Hi, TornadoLGS. I just actioned your report of "SenorCumBum" at UAA, and only afterward noticed that the account's edits are all several months old. I won't reverse the block, since that wouldn't serve any purpose, but for future record, please don't report accounts to UAA that haven't edited recently. Hello. I see that you have reverted my edits of Rochelle Buffenstein's page that was updated to reflect the last 4-6 years of history that was severely lacking in context, information and citations.
Anyone can see that the update was been substantial, both in terms of clarity, history of the remarkable individual and their contributions to science.

Speedy deletion nomination of Anjum Sharma
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Anjum Sharma requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anjum Sharma. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Bdeshfoudation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Question | pointers for improving draft page Rory Pilgrim
Hi TornadoLGS,
Thanks for taking the time to review the draft page on Rory Pilgrim I'm working on. You indicated that the tone in parts of this page is somewhat promotional, and that it ought to be written to be more neutral. Promotion is not my intention and I'm perfectly happy change the text. For this I would welcome some pointers on where you found the tone to be particularly promotional. Could you kindly provide me with some steers?
Many thanks,
-t TiliavonLinne (talk) 15:30, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- Ah! I see some edits have been made and it indeed looks cleaner now :-) TiliavonLinne (talk) 15:37, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- @TiliavonLinne: Than you for reaching out. A few phrases come across as promotional. You have removed a couple, but one that stands out to me is "Through Pilgrim's work spaces are created where people of diverse backgrounds can come together and develop new forms of understanding and caretaking." There are a few similar statements. I think one way to approach it is to avoid the sort of phrasing you would expect in a brochure or similar document. To a degree, you want to avoid subjective language. TornadoLGS (talk) 15:43, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for this clarification, I see how the wording can come across as promotional. My intention was to provide wikipedia users with an indication of what the art consists of, something which can be challenging with a thing as interpretative as contemporary conceptual art. The actual text I took from Pilgrim's artist profile on the website of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, which is written by the curators of that museum. However, now I consider that if this description from that museum is included maybe it ought to be in quotation marks? Thanks in advance for your help! -t TiliavonLinne (talk) 15:59, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- @TiliavonLinne: Text in an article should be paraphrased and direct quotations should be used sparingly. This is largely to avoid copyright infringement. TornadoLGS TornadoLGS (talk) 16:03, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
- Clear and makes sense, I altered the text now, grouping the above mentioned thematic description with the description of artistic media used. The actual quote is now smaller and clearly indicated by quotation marks. TiliavonLinne (talk) 17:23, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Mariya Didi Article
Hello, I am aware that the article is lacking citations. However, Maldives lacks considerable coverage of their politics. Therefore, as a close member of the government, Wikipedia is one of the few resources that Maldivians have to inform the public about their ongoings. I will be adding citations as I find them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheoryGames (talk • contribs) 19:48, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- @TheoryGames: Don't add the information unless you have the citations ready. Add the citations when you add the information; not at a later time. TornadoLGS (talk) 19:50, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- @TheoryGames: Also, the text you added had a promotional tone, which is inappropriate for an encyclopedia. TornadoLGS (talk) 19:53, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

Tagging categories
Hello, TornadoLGS,
It's a bit confusing when you tag categories for deletion for CSD C1 and then also another criteria. This is because empty categories are supposed to sit for a week in Category:Empty categories awaiting deletion before while pages tagged for most other speedy deletion criteria can be simply deleted upon review.
I think the answer here is to just pick one criteria to tag a category with, either CSD C1 if it is an empty category or with another criteria if the page has been created, say, by error. This would leave less possibility for doubt on the part of the administrator who is reviewing the tagged pages and really only one criteria is necessary. Thank you for all of your help. Liz Read! Talk! 21:35, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Liz: Sorry. I was a bit confused since I wasn't quite sure how to tag them. They were in the wrong namespace but I had wondered if, by some technicality, G6 wouldn't apply. But they were clearly unsuitable pages. Would G6 be the best option for non-category pages created in that namespace? TornadoLGS (talk) 22:35, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
Hello, I'm new here.
Hello, TornadoLGS,
I guess I am needing help with a Wikipedia page that I'm trying to edit. It keeps getting reverted back, and I would like to know what I need to do differently in order for it to be published correctly. Please advise, I am new to the Wikipedia gang.
The page I'm trying to edit is https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Margaret_Goodell
JasonnBruce (talk) 14:32, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
- Hi JasonnBruce, my main concern was the addition of external links to the article, which appears to have been largely resolved. One thing to say, to keep in mind as a new editor, is that it is generally good to follow the bold-revert-discuss cycle. Basically, if your edit gets reverted, it is better to take the issue to the talk page rather than persist in making the edit (see also the policy on edit warring). On another note, because your edits focused on a single article, one editor posted a message on your talk page about a possible conflict of interest. Basically, this means that you should disclose if you are in any way affiliated with Margaret Goodell. TornadoLGS (talk) 15:15, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
This article and similar ones are created by User:Flex Liberia, who is banned from editing. I tagged said article under G5, but I wanted to make sure you're aware of this individual. Thanks. Deauthorized. (talk) 23:16, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
