Drowned God

Template:Did you know nominations/Drowned God: Conspiracy of the Ages (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

You didn't miscalculate; I made a miscalculation. Because of that, you have expanded a little bit. Therefore, maybe it would be recommended that you need another reviewer. Nevertheless, if possible, I might have enough time to review all the references if all is settled and done with. --George Ho (talk) 13:43, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

July drive

Hi Torchiest. The drive discussion seems to have slowed down, though I don't think it has really bottomed out all questions. I'm thinking of starting a new section tomorrow, summarising on the basis that I suspect that the latest statements not to have been challenged may represent a consensus, and inviting everyone to express any differing views. If that goes well, I can then create the drive page on Wednesday (20th). Are you happy with that plan? Are there any issues you'd like addressed before we do that? I've also asked Allen and Dianna. Cheers, Simon. --Stfg (talk) 20:09, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

GOCE July 2012 Copy Edit Drive

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their July 2012 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on July 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on July 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goals are to eliminate the articles tagged in April, May and June 2011 from the queue and to complete all requests placed before the end of June. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 6 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", "Number of articles of over 5,000 words", "Number of articles tagged in April–June 2011", and "Longest article". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa and Stfg.

New drive signup method

Hi. That was a quick month! I took a quick look but probably need to spend a bit more time getting my mind round it, and RL is busy today. I'm not overlooking it, but it may be tomorrow or the next day before I can spend serious time with it. Best, --Stfg (talk) 10:05, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

No problem, and no hurry. Like I said, I only have the basic structure of it, with (most of) the technical details figured out, but I'm pretty sure there is a good amount of fine tuning that will be required. Torchiest talkedits 13:35, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

() Thanks. I've had a quick test drive just now. There seems to be a small bug in that the code doesn't fill in the username -- see the created version of the .../Stfg file. Anyway, that's a detail at the moment. Let me play back my understanding to you and you can correct it if I've misunderstood.

So: I enter my username Stfg in the box and click the button, and it creates a new file called Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Backlog elimination drives/month/Stfg. Then I paste into the Participants section the line that transcludes this file into the drive page itself. Thereafter, I list my articles by clicking "add articles to your list", which edits that file. Reviewers do the same thing to mark articles reviewed. People still need to go get their rollover words (although it doesn't matter if they don't, as I always go through and check/add those). This is just checking my understanding at the moment. How is it? Cheers, --Stfg (talk) 10:50, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Yes, your understanding is correct. As for first part, it's not sure much a bug as just a feature that doesn't exist yet. :) I don't know if the button and can auto-fill that part on its own, since it's using the name you enter to create the page, which I think is about the limit of its powers. But the instructions on the newly created page do say to fill in the name parameter yourself. That was one of my questions: could the instructions be clearer, or more complete? Torchiest talkedits 12:56, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
OK, then I'm missing the point a bit. Given that we have to paste something somewhere and gather our rollover words, need we do more than just paste {{subst:GOCEtotals|~~~}} in the designated place and do the rollover words? This seems more complicated --Stfg (talk) 18:03, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
You're right. The original way it was put together was not very convenient. I've made some more changes to it. I need to do some fine tuning but the new way will actually make it worth using. Torchiest talkedits 18:39, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Looking great now. I replied in detail at my page, to thread with the specifics you raised there. Cheers, --Stfg (talk) 21:10, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Dahn Yoga

I understand your position on the issue is due to being brainwashed into Dahn Yoga. But this does not mean you can use Wikipedia to advertise anything that has not been proven.

And please refer to under which "talk page consensus" did you revert the edit back.

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Re: Track listing

I noticed you added a couple of track listings to the Abney Park page (which I regularly keep an eye on for vandalism). I hadn't seen that before on a page, but seeing that you're a fairly established editor I'm assuming it's legit and just something new? Is there a page in the style guide on it? Thanks for your help with the page. --Jonnybgoode44 (talk) 22:38, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

I started redirecting the individual albums to the main band article, because each one is just a track list, but I didn't want to lose the information, so I was adding them into the main article as I went. I'm not 100% on the way I'm doing it yet though. I started a discussion on it here, and I'd be interested in your thoughts on it. Of course, if more information can be added to the individual albums, they can be split back out and sourced. Mainly what I'm doing is going through a list of ~400 unsourced industrial music articles, and trying to fix them, either by adding sources, redirecting/merging, or deleting. Torchiest talkedits 22:43, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for copy-editing the article however, your edits are not the style guidelines for discographies. Can you please look at FL discography such as Mariah Carey albums discography and compare? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 00:33, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

I removed the section headers again. Is that what you had in mind, or was there something else? Torchiest talkedits 00:48, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Ok its looking good, however, according to WP:LEAD there should only be a max of 4 paragraphs there's like 7. Can you trim what shouldn't be there? Best, Jonayo! Selena 4 ever 00:51, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Ok, I combined them back down. Sorry for that; I wasn't aware that featured lists had those restrictions. Torchiest talkedits 01:01, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

History of WRPGs

Could you please properly close the discussion for http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:History_of_Western_role-playing_video_games/GA1? I don't know how to do it. I think it needs to be put in a box with a green background or something. Thanks. SharkD  Talk  01:22, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

I don't think anything else needs to be done to the review page. Normally, they're just left like that, without any boxes or extra formatting. Check here to see all the other GA reviews are not closed beyond what the WRPG history looks like. Torchiest talkedits 01:35, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

Copyediting

Hello Torchiest ,I have tentatively started copyediting and contributed to Almatti Dam and Tyagi articles. As you are a coordinator of the drive ,I thought it would be fair to inform you about it.So that you can check it and point out the mistakes i might have made.I would like to improve and further contribute if i am good enough. Thank YouAyanosh (talk) 07:21, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

I took a look at Almatti Dam and made some more changes to it. Some of the things you changed were okay as they were, and some need further or different changes. I'll look over Tyagi a little later. Torchiest talkedits 12:52, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
One simple thing with punctuation you'll need to watch out for: you want to have a space after the punctuation mark, not before. For example:
Incorrect: Smith ,Jones ,and Brown went to the store. They purchased some supplies while there.
Correct:    Smith, Jones, and Brown went to the store. They purchased some supplies while there.
I would also suggest reading as much as you can of WP:MOS, which explains almost everything you will need to copy edit articles. Torchiest talkedits 16:21, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
Thank You for responding to my request and for the suggestions given.Presently I am working on V. P. Sathyan.Ayanosh (talk) 05:12, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cheryl Wilson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
