Sa explination
Hello, the information I provided regarding the total weight/mass of a Sa is correct (if you want the full breakdown on the approval chain I can compile and provide). the existing information on the page regarding volume is correct, but it was missing the weight component. For example (keeping in mind this is an Islamic unit of measurement), in Islam if you miss a day of fasting during Ramadan you must make it up and also feed a poor person for day with 1/2 a Sa. Think of it like this, you could take 4 Mudd/double handfuls of popped popcorn, volume wise it would be correct but weight wise it would be insufficient. 2 Mudd (1/2 a Sa) of popped pop corn would not be sufficient to feed a poor person for a day. 2 Mudd of Rice, beans, lentils etc., however would be sufficient. Those items in the Sa measuring cup, lentils or rice etc., have a weight. I expressed that as both Kilos and Pounds as the Sa unit of measurement is most commonly used to calculate dried food goods. If you scroll down you will see a Sa is also the minimum amount of Water that can be used to perform Ghusl (which I personally did 2 days ago). That water in the measuring cup has a weight which is easily measurable and 3.96 pounds of water equates to about 1.7962 Liters of water being the minimum amount for a valid Ghusl. If you agree to work for me for 1 Sa of gold, and I fill that container with a thin hollow sphere of gold, obviously its going to be a problem because the weight and value of that is not going to be the correct intention of paying you a Sa of gold coins. which would have a much greater weight and value while retaining the same volume. TLDR there is a weight component to Sa. Josephcswartz (talk) 01:21, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for the detailed explanation! I see there is already a conversion from volume to weight in wheat (3.24kg) - is there some reason that your original calculation does not match this value? From what I can tell (although you are clearly more knowledgeable than me on this subject), the actual value of mass will differ depending on the contents of the container, and so it seems to me that providing a specific substance that the mass is based on would be more useful than simply providing a mass, as the unit does appear to measure the volume of a specific container (if I'm wrong or have misunderstood somewhere please let me know though). Perhaps both your calculated mass and the one currently in the article could be included if different densities were used? Tollens (talk) 02:52, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Yes there is a reason for the different calculations. There are 4 schools of mainstream islam, the Hanafi school which is generally located on border territories with non muslim countries use a different calculation which is based on more easy-going Hadith (islamic secondary scripture)and is closer to the 3.24kg wheat. the other 3 schools (think Mecca, Saudi Arabia) use more strict hadith and is closer to the calculation I provided. The calculation I provided is generally seen as the more correct/official one, however the hanafi one is often used because the Sa measurement system is generally used during islamic holidays to provide dry goods to poor hungry people and so providing more food to them under the more easy going calculation is better than providing less food with the stricter calculation. Yes, you are correct after I sent the message to you I realized that perhaps adding weight based on Water would be very helpful, to the part where ghusl was mentioned , because the weight of water of a Sa is not variable and is consistent over the centuries. Yes, both calculations could be included. Perhaps a note for the existing one that is according to the Hanafi school and the addition as noted according to the other 3 schools (Hanbali, Shaifi, Maliki). Josephcswartz (talk) 03:54, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Ok - thank you! I think all this information (ideally with reliable sources included) would likely be best suited for the 'Conversion to the metric system' section - if you'd like to write all of this into the article please go ahead! I'd be happy to clean up any formatting or other stylistic changes afterwards, if you'd like! Tollens (talk) 21:05, 29 March 2023 (UTC)

Rollback granted
Hi Tollens. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thanks for protecting the page, but the paid material denigrating a persona, added from an anonymous IP address, remains on the page. What's more, on the discussion page, I have been threatened with blocking from an anonymous IP address. User talk:AlexanderVolkov123 I ask you to deal with the situation. As it stands now, the page does not conform to WP:NPOV. You said my version is more acceptable, but there are problems with sources. Question from Manager.woodhead (11:12, 2 June 2023)
How long would it take for an article to be reviewed by wikipedia editors and published? --Manager.woodhead (talk) 11:12, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
- It may take up to several weeks for a new article to be reviewed at the moment, due to a very large backlog. You can place the text
{{subst:submit}}
at the very top of the page you would like to submit your draft, and it will be added to the queue. - I notice that your username implies your account is operated by a company - this is not permitted under our username policy. I have a constructive thing on the teahousepage but if you'd indulge me I just want to discuss the article you linked to me from a personal perspective here
That is the most kafka-esque thing i've ever read on Wikipedia! Holy moly. Imagsine you're accused of anything terrible. A murder, a rape, a cheat. Something that say not even the most ardent of fanatics can approve of like some anti-vaccine people really believe all vaccines are evil or something. So then you're trapped. You can be making any kind of denial. It can even be reported in the media so secondary sources. But if the media "condemns" in a trial of public opinion, even before say your actual trial (not relevant in the RFK case) you're screwed. It's like you've lost your voice. Isn't this horrible? CompromisingSuggestion (talk) 21:39, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
- The purpose of that essay isn't to say that if an allegation is made it should be presented as fact - it should be clearly labelled as an accusation. If a large group of people was to accuse me of something, it would be perfectly acceptable to state "[some group] accuses Tollens of [something]", because that's simply a fact. It is a reasonable inference to assume that I deny the accusation without explicitly stating that, otherwise the statement would be phrased "Tollens did [something]". If the only thing I had done was simply deny the accusation, it wouldn't be relevant to include that, most of the time. The following excerpt is especially relevant here:
If X is accused of being a white nationalist, and investigation has shown that X publishes white nationalist talking points but has not self-identified as a white nationalist, then the fix is not to add a self-sourced denial, it's to frame the statement as an accusation and establish the basis for it and the error bars around it: "X is described by multiple sources as a white nationalist". Most importantly, if the allegation is widely supported by reliable sources but the denial exists only in X's own words, then the denial is not compelling or significant per Hitchens' razor.
- Keep in mind also that the essay is not policy. Tollens (talk) 21:56, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
Question from Strings863 (16:02, 3 June 2023)
Hello! my name is Michael. I am a retired Civil Engineer and would like to write about "Ethics in Engineering" --Strings863 (talk) 16:02, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
- Go for it! There already exists an article called Engineering ethics that you would likely want to work on rather than start a whole new article. Is there anything in particular I might be able to help you with? Tollens (talk) 17:39, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
- I must read this article to see if it applies to the things, I have in mind for my article that starts in a Catholic High School threw my engineering life. Thank you for your input, any suggestions are most welcomed. Strings863 (talk) 22:05, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
- Since what you’re talking about sounds somewhat like an autobiography, I just want to make sure before you get writing that you are aware that original research (anything not written down already in a reliable source) cannot be used in any article, because other editors and readers cannot verify its accuracy - for further information please have a look at the original research policy. Writing about yourself is also strongly discouraged as it is almost impossible to do so neutrally - for further information please see the conflict of interest policy. If what you are writing is already discussed in reliable sources and not about you personally, feel free to disregard this message. Tollens (talk) 02:31, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- I do not wish to write an autobiography. I need to discuss the matter of the ideal Engineering ethics that one aspires, and is taught throughout Catholic high school, at the same time this philosophical view carries over to Engineering School. My problem is getting across the fact that we go unprepared for real world circumstances and downright criminality. We are never told how to handle the world full of bribes, subtitle favors, real safety enforcement, to name a few. How does one go about telling Universities, that they must teach how to resist the temptations and lures towards unethical behaviors'. As most professors spend their life in a classroom they are not exposed to the real dangers to our profession. There should have been, for example, guest speakers from live projects describing all problems faced by Engineers . Strings863 (talk) 22:43, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Strings863: Much of what you mention is included in the engineering ethics article - have a look through and feel free to make additions or changes, supported by citations to reliable sources! Tollens (talk) 02:17, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

Question from Meteororor (22:19, 7 June 2023)
hello! i wanted to know if there's a page for info about the formatting of the entire website :D --Meteororor (talk) 22:19, 7 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Meteororor! You might be looking for the manual of style, which outlines things like article structure and specific word choice? If you're instead referring to the computer code responsible for things like the color of the website's background and the layout of the top bar, you might want to take a look through WP:CSS - there are a bunch of different places that all set the site's formatting through code that are listed there. If neither of those are what you're looking for or you need a pointer to a more specific topic, I'm happy to help further! Tollens (talk) 02:08, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
- I just read your user page and imagine that you're likely looking more for the CSS information than the manual of style - if you're looking to customize the CSS for your own viewing, you can create this page and place any CSS you want to apply there. If you want to have the styling apply on all wikis (such as Wikimedia Commons or Meta-Wiki), instead create this page (make sure you log in on Meta-Wiki before going to that link), and the CSS on that page will apply on all Wikimedia wikis. If you need any help with any of that or you want help in any way with creating a custom style, I can definitely help! Tollens (talk) 03:27, 8 June 2023 (UTC)

BRFAs
In the future, please do not transclude BRFAs for others unless they specifically ask you; a BRFA can be created and not transcluded for any number of reasons, up to and including "it's simply not ready yet". A perfectly valid task request could be denied if it is submitted before it is ready, as almost happened with the BRFA in question. Primefac (talk) 06:24, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Primefac: My apologies. I agree (and previously understood) that the BRFA in question is unlikely to be approved, at least in its current form. However, in the discussion I had with the bot operator on their talk page, they suggested they had "already submitted" the request and were confused as to why no discussion was occurring. In retrospect, explaining exactly what they needed to do likely would have been more appropriate, but at the time I certainly felt transcluding the request on their behalf was likely less work for everyone involved. Reason to revert my edit?
why my edit on the article Chery eQ7 is reverted? The vehicle is not eQ5 and should not be redirected to it. Infinty 0 (talk) 06:16, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Infinty 0: You placed a WP:PROD tag on that page earlier - because redirects are not eligible for that deletion process it was removed by another editor who pointed you toward WP:RFD, the appropriate place to look to have it retargeted or deleted. It doesn't seem like you opened a discussion there, but blanked the page instead - blank pages are especially unhelpful because readers may still see the page and become confused as to whether the page is broken or just blank. I don't have the knowledge of the topic required to feel like I can open an RFD, so reverting to the status-quo version of the page was the best way for me to resolve the issue of the page being blank. You are more than welcome to open a discussion at WP:RFD asking to have the redirect deleted - instructions on how to do so are at WP:RFDHOWTO (I would suggest you use Twinkle as shown in the small box at the top right of that section, to make it much easier). Question from BatmanFan1989 (21:34, 24 July 2023)
How do i make wiki pages --BatmanFan1989 (talk) 21:34, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
- @BatmanFan1989: Since you don't have very many edits yet, you won't be able to create an article directly - you can, however, make a draft, which is a kind of page that you can work on for a while, then ask an experienced editor to review it before it is published. If you'd like to create a draft, you can click this link to the article wizard, which will provide you with some additional information. Keep in mind that writing a whole new article is one of the hardest things you can do on Wikipedia - you might want to start by working on some existing articles first to get some experience. Please note that there are some fairly strict criteria for what can have an article written about it (the full policy is available at WP:Notability) - the policy essentially requires that there are multiple reliable sources that talk about the subject in detail. If the topic you want to write about does not meet those criteria, it's unlikely that the draft will be accepted. The topic might also already have an article - if you'd like to share what you want to write about I might be able to point you to a place where the topic has already been written about, and you could help work on it there. Question from Pambowman1 (10:57, 26 July 2023)
Hello. I have the sweetest dog in the world. I watch your show faithfully I do not want to be on tv. My baby is about 5 years old he’s got some pitty in him. My mom died about 4 years ago. She had 7 dogs they took most of them but I went over there every day and fed and watered them. My brother took two and there were two left. The last time I went only hoochie moochie was there. The baby was gone. I fed and watered her then came home a complete mess. My husband came in and said let’s go get her. And we did. My dog took her right in and she was our family instantly that dog was the most loyal and protective dog I have ever had. Sadly she passed last week. My dogs are treated like people they sleep in my bed they rule the furniture. I feed them white meat chicken brown rice and sweet potatoes. We live in orange Texas last town you drive through on 10 to Louisiana. My baby needs a new friend. The dog will be treated better than I would ever treat anyone. As I said I am a fan of what you do. God bless you there is a special place in heaven for you. Please contact me I would love to adopt a sweet baby you have for my sweet baby ❤️ --Pambowman1 (talk) 10:57, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Pambowman1: I am unsure what you mean: this seems entirely unrelated to Wikipedia. Please keep talk pages on-topic; if you have a Wikipedia-related question I would be happy to help. Tollens (talk) 04:30, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
