The shortest AIV case ever?

3 minutes! If possible, I'd buy you a drink. If not of age or are not of that type of faith prevents consumption of alcohol, I'd buy you some cookies. This to this having to be the shortest AIV case ever? Since user didn't inform me, I only found this now while scanning admin boards to see if anything foolish had been attempted. For what actually happened, see my talk page in literally every diff from here through here. This user has been censured by admins fairly recently about not understanding the definition of basic Wikipedia editing policy, such as 3RR is violated at the 4th and not 3rd, that if you type "this is not a revert" in an edit summary it doesn't count toward the total even if it's the same file size to their last version, and apparently interpreting my suggestion that the user take concerns to an administrator forum instead of endlessly harassing me is somehow a threat. I was pondering reporting the nonsense, but I think this is humiliation enough. It also made me said that level 3 and 4 template warnings sent by Twinkle were considered personal attacks... and I was 100% intent on reporting the incivility if it hadn't stopped. It's hard to ignore the trolls when they add in something minor every 20 seconds and edit your own statements on your own talk page.

Thanks for... fixing this. This'll sound stupid, but I take a lot of pride in being on the Huggle whitelist since apparently a script somewhere has deemed me a non-threat to the community, which is pretty much the highest form of praise one can get short of adminship. Well, one day... Oh, and if you could ask User:660gd4qo to maybe pause on the editing of an article they are repeatedly reverted on for awhile, it could be helpful. I'd do it myself but that really wouldn't go over well. Cheers~ daTheisen(talk) 18:31, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Not a problem. The AIV report was a quick review, based on the language of the report and your contributions. However, it sounds like there is a content dispute (and possibly some edit warring?) going. I think it would be best to request a third opinion or ask for review at the edit war noticeboard. Cheers! TNXMan 18:44, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your effort, Tnxman307. But, stalk and revert my other edits in uninvolved places or personal attack my talk page is User:Datheisen. When i edits something, this user stalking and reverting my edits without any single consensus. Also, I NEVER stalk and revert of User:Datheisen's edits. But, this uncivil wikipedia user try to accuse me, and blame me to other users. Again, I NEVER threaten and vandal at his talk page, but this user try to threaten me. Please give warning to this user. --660gd4qo (talk) 18:49, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Then the best idea is discuss your issues on the article's talk page (which, I believe, is Taekwondo) and stop posting on each other's talk pages. Discussing the issues with the article (and not issues like stalking, threatening, reporting to various noticeboards) is always the best course. TNXMan 18:52, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
"Then the best idea is discuss your issues on the article's talk page"
Yes, I ABSOLUTELY agree with you. btw, check Talk:Taekwondo, YOU CAN'T FIND ONE SINGLE DISCUSS FROM Datheisen. this user try to revert my edit without any single discuss, this duspted article still going on, but Datheisen try to stalking and reverting. --660gd4qo (talk) 18:57, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Adminstrator, What wikipedia policy apply for this user? 1. stalking 2. reverting 3. no discussion 4. uncivil manner --660gd4qo (talk) 18:58, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
(Major edit conflict, apparently) I'm not involved in the article in any way, shape or form other than being a (permitted by contributors) unofficial moderator on POV edits. Of course I'm not in the discussion, since I oversight the talk and look at postings separately later. I think last week this user put in a sock report for me, which was also laughed off. I came in to this article originally as a requested 3rd party evaluation that had been listed for over a week on the requests page. Since I literally know zero about the subject and didn't care what happened to the article in the end I figured it'd be perfect fit for me since everything would need citations/explanations. More interestingly, however, is that the user called me for "edit warring" after 1 revert done to the article today. Perhaps they were counting the exact 3 I did a week ago and said in the edit summary that I would not pursue after 3? Since I came into the article of since, I've directly spoken with zero contributors iand done zero actual content edits, which is how it should be for a 3O. There's a reason I laughed at the AIV request idea when I saw it but didn't know the outcome, since I knew my "admin decision position" ahead of time... I think about it every time I post under some duress.
So let's see, Quickie sock report, immediately blanked by admin last week. AIV, stuck down today with a hammer in 3 minutes this week... I wonder what it'll be next week. See, I don't want to touch the article anymore, but if I see it with a huge bold red number size change on my watchlist I cannot in good conscience ignore it, knowing it's just further attempts at claiming ownership of the article. Cheers~ daTheisen(talk) 19:12, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
Leave this uninvolved admin out of this, please. It's not the right place to look for more opinions. daTheisen(talk) 19:12, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
  • I'm not involved in the article in any way
Yes, you are stalking my edits. wiki stalking is not tolerable. btw, If you do not know article topic, please stay away from it. Again, This is content dispute. and every user have different POVs.
btw, Article already moderated 2 years ago.[1] this artilce is already settled before my edits. Looks like a content dispute too long. don't interfere it. --660gd4qo (talk) 19:22, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Please just move on from applying policy to someone. Start a discussion on the article's talk page. If Datheisen doesn't join in, you can go from there, but the first step is to start the discussion. TNXMan 19:17, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps something can be done to prevent Stephen Staley from being created again (it was attempted back in December)? Sorry for the bother, particularly if this is something that's already been done. Cheers, --4wajzkd02 (talk) 20:12, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Sir,the page demonic resurrection deleted by you is a notable musician, why do you delete it?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aditya.singh.9692 (talkcontribs) 10:19, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

It was deleted because it did not indicate why the group was notable enough for an article. Also, the article was written like a press release. Please read our info on writing your first article using reliable sources. You may want to write a draft in your userspace before trying to post the article again. High Beam Music

I see you recently deleted an new article for High Beam Music. I saw this after the creator edited three pages on my watchlist, all on bands who released through the label. I had long ago thought of starting an article for High Beam but was unable to find approprate references. If it's not much trouble I would like to know if this deleted article has any redeemable content. Thanks, duffbeerforme (talk) 14:38, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

There was a bit. It was unreferenced and kinda spammy. But if you'd like, I can restore/userfy it for you. Just let me know. TNXMan 16:40, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Can you contact me also 4wajzkd0 - this is regarding the british Entrepreneur Stephen Staley. Dont forget im sure there is more than 1 Stephen Staley in the world! Im sure its not the same person!!!

I'm sorry, but the article was deleted because it was blatant advertising, which Wikipedia does not accept. TNXMan 20:43, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
It was a fluff piece. Also, the second you hit "save page" here on Wikipedia, you irrevocably agree to release your contributions under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License. Tan | 39 20:45, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

I dont understand, why is it advertising? The Article is about Stephen Staley. There are pages just on play.com and amazon.co.uk. Please explain. Let me know how i can get the page on Stephen Staley Live then. Can you let me know your number and i will call. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.221.127.45 (talk) 22:02, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

It's advertising because it contained material such as "Clearly this shows Stephen is a focused and hardworking individual. The target was set early and was delivered, although the business does have 200,000 customers he has yet to sell it and he did make a substantial amount of money and bought a Ferrari aged 25!", which is absolutely not acceptable for an encyclopedia that is supposed to be written neutrally. If you are serious about writing a neutral, well sourced article, please read our info on writing your first article and write a draft in your userspace. You can then ask another editor to review it before moving it back to the mainspace. TNXMan 02:56, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi, i dont understand, how can it be promotional? Its promotional because he bought a car? What? Please explain. Its a story about an Entrepreneur. A True story. I can take that part off and reupload - but i thought wikipedia was about facts. This guy had a goal and he reached it. Like most successful entrepreneurs. Im happy to take that part off - if you work with me in getting an article you are happy with.

What do you think of this - Is this promotional? http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Play.com

"Play.com was ranked second on the November 2006 UK "Hot Shops List" compiled by IMRG and Hitwise." "On 15 January 2009, a survey published by Verdict Research found Play.com was the UK's second favourite music and video retailer, behind first place Amazon.co.uk and ahead of entertainment retailer Zavvi who came in third."

Ive noticed there are similar pages for Amazon and Game also. Would this come accross as promotional? Ive noticed that Gameseek dont have a wiki page. I could do one for them also. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.35.83.180 (talk) 10:49, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

Tnxman307, please see this discussion in this section of my talk page. I'm not certain that in the end the subject will be considered notable (in fact, I have my doubts, but am keeping a positive outlook), but I'm willing to do my best to help out the new editor. If you agree with my approach, let me know. If you do, then when the article is ready to go live, perhpas you could unsalt the article in question so we can move it? Thanks, --4wajzkd02 (talk) 01:52, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Back in June, you took this to AfD as Muhammad Shaikh. It has reappeared under a new name and was tagged G4; both Schuminweb and I declined the G4 on the grounds that it was substantially different; he changed his mind and deleted it; I also changed my mind but have now changed it back and decided that the best course is to restore it, bring it back to AfD for another look, and notify everyone concerned in the first AfD. Removal of PROD from Technocrane

Hello Tnxman307, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Technocrane has been removed. It was removed by Fences and windows with the following edit summary 'Deprod. The inventors won an Oscar for it.'. Please consider discussing your concerns with Fences and windows before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Demetria

Since the article "Demetria Alexandropoulos" was deleted, how can the entry name be deleted as well. Until we work on the article more, it's preferable and better for the artist's reputation to have no entry come up if someone types in the name, rather than a page indicating the article was deleted due to not being significant (A7)

I'm sorry, but that isn't really possible. I would recommend writing a draft of the article in your userspace and once that meets the article standards, it can be moved to the mainspace. Then no one will really know it was deleted. TNXMan 14:48, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

read the discussion, it has been argued that the proper subject of that article is Stroker Serpentine as the subjects achievements soley were achieved under the nom d'voyage Stroker Serpentine while Kevin Alderman remains largely unkown. In regards to this; I've blocked the IP for 3 months, given the long-term vandalism here. Energy For Opportunity (EFO)

Hello Tnxman307,

I would like to create a Wikipedia entry for the non-profit organization called Energy For Opportunity. Apparently, an attempt at a page was previously made. It was deleted by you on May 10, 2009. I don't know who wrote the earlier attempt, so I am not looking for suggestions based on this previous attempt (I have never seen it).

I am contacting you as per Wikipedia protocol.

Today I started a 'userspace draft' and don't expect to be finished for at least another few days. Of course, I'd like to do a decent job, and welcome any editing suggestions or changes.

For what it's worth, I do not work for EFO.

Enjoy your day.

Hi Tnxman307,

{{helpme}} I have finished a rough draft for this entry. User:Papillage/Energy For Opportunity (EFO) Whenever you have a spare moment, could you please take a look to see how it can be improved? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks! Papillage (talk) 00:24, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey, I removed the helpme tag you put here - that alerts a lot more people than just Tnxman307. No worries though, cheers! Fleetflame · whack! whack! · 00:45, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

It looks like you're off to a good start, but the article still appears to missing significant coverage of the subject in independent reliable sources. Have there been any articles about the company in magazines or books (note that press releases don't count)? Interviews in major publications? That's the next step you need to take as you write. TNXMan 02:05, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I came across an audio interview that Peace Corps did with a founding member, so I've added that. I also found a 3rd-party publication where EFO is cited as a contributing member. In addition to the Princeton University, Revenue Canada, and Inveneo sources, do you think that is sufficient to begin the public process? Again, thanks for the help, and apologies for the hassles. Papillage (talk) 02:56, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Well, the Inveneo source just gives the address for the Sierra Leone location and the Canada Registered Charity source doesn't really give significant coverage of the subject either. The interview looks OK though. I still think you need more sources like that in order to move it to the mainspace. TNXMan 12:49, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Sure. The Inveneo and Canada Revenue sources were more to prove the existence of the organization, not the relevance (or notability in wikispeak). I suppose that's debatable, how notable this registered charity is. If I come across any other articles pertaining to its notability, I'll add them. For now, I'm going to give up and make a sandwich. Thanks for the help. Papillage (talk) 01:49, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Removing non-notables in the Fidget House article

I'm sorry but i do not understand why do you consider the artists i added to fidget house non-notable. It is true that it is a recent genre, difficult to comprehensively describe but it was with that in mind that I strictly choose those that have become most notable for their work in the genre, producing and playing at large international events such as i love techno at Belgium or hard mansion at LA and New York, both with thousands of attenders, and been extensively written about in blogs and magazines such as pitchfork or NME. The choices you made to delete them actually seem inaccurate looking at the ones who were left. Defunct! For example, is mostly unknown, and i believe was added by the artists themselves or a devoted fan, as well as Leko, which was there as well, this last one without any type of public appraisal. You can confirm any of the information i am giving by a quick search on google or myspace, to see the public response and appraisal and widespread influence of those i added. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pedrogalegorodrigues (talkcontribs) 08:54, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

They were removed because there is no current Wikipedia article about them. If they have an article, they can be added to the fidget house article. These redlinks are removed to prevent articles from accruing dozens of names that do not allow readers to click on them to get more info. If the artists with articles (such as Defunct! etc.) do not fit with this genre, please feel free to remove them. TNXMan 12:49, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I guess you're right. I think it would still be helpful to add them for the people wanting to know more about the genre, is it adequate to add them without the link? And about Defunct!, they do fit the genre but i think it may just an act of promotion. i am not sure though, and that's why I didn't remove them.
Even if you add the artists without a link, I still think you would run in to the same problem. What you could do, however, is write articles for the artists and then add them to the fidget house article. If that sounds like something in which you would be interested, then this guide has a lot of good info. TNXMan 13:52, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

High Impact eMail

The articles were deleted because they appeared to be advertising and were not reliable sourced. I would encourage you to read our info on writing your first article. FUCTnyc

Hello,

I registered as FUCTnyc to try and make a page for the comedy troupe FUCT. There is already a site for Fuct clothing line, but since the comedy troupe FUCT is an entirely different entity, and I provided references, I'm not sure why it was deleted. I did my best to not make it an advertisement site as I know that's not allowed, but I would like to put up a new site for the comedy troupe under this, my personal account. How can I make one (like bands have, for instance) without being booted?

Thank you for your advice!

SweeneySkip (talk) 21:11, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

The best idea is to read our guide to writing your first article, then write a draft in your userspace (something like User:SweeneySkip/Sandbox). Also note what makes groups notable enough to warrant an Wikipedia article. If you have questions, just let me know. TNXMan 00:57, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

ActiveVOS is demonstrably a "notable" BPEL engine

You seem to be deleting entries for ActiveVOS, perhaps semi-automatically, for being "non notable". Active Endpoints has been in business for 6 years selling nothing but its BPEL engine, previously called ActiveBPEL, but now called ActiveVOS. We are growing quickly and in just the last 18 months have 80 _new_ companies using our BPEL engine. You can find some case studies here: http://www.activevos.com/proof-casestudies.php.

I do not want to turn Wikipedia into a commercial for us, but we _certainly_ deserve to be mentioned in any list that includes other BPEL engines. I expect we have more users than all but a couple of the other engines on this list. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mnrowley (talkcontribs) 17:25, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

That's all well and good, but to be mentioned on the list, ActiveVOS must have a Wikipedia article first. I would suggest reading our info on writing your first article, as well as our information on conflict of interest. You may want to submit a draft article at the articles for creation process to get assistance writing an article for ActiveVOS. TNXMan 17:29, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

US High Speed Rail Association

Just wondering why the page was deleted. The Midwest High Speed Rail Association as well as the California High Speed Rail Authority have their own pages. Thanks!Skolff (talk) 20:10, 4 December 2009 (UTC)quirine

The page was deleted because it appeared to be advertising. I would encourage you to read our info on writing your first article, as well as how to write from a neutral point of view. Heya -- I don't think this guy was abusing the unblock template. What happened was that he put an unclosed "reference" tag in the unblock request; without closure, nothing past it was rendered, so he kept adding unblocks trying to make it work. --jpgordon::==( o ) 23:41, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

That makes sense. I thought that was the case, but I couldn't find it anywhere. If you'd like to restore talk page access, that's fine. I'm about to eat dinner and just caught your message. If you need me to do anything else, let me know. TNXMan 23:48, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

My new article

Can you help my article, it needs clean up on the grammar and such and expanding on sources and such Luke155 (talk) 16:09, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but without sources, your article appears to be about a neologism, which isn't really allowed. Consider drafting the article in your userspace and then asking another editor to review it. TNXMan 16:12, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Re: Mass Revert

Hi Fellow Editor, I see you have blocked this User. I was wondering is there a way of doing a mass revert of his/her edits, because it is taking me forever to undo the mess he/she has created on 100 or so pages in the space of 3 days. Thanks --Sikh-History 17:30, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, not that I know of. However, if you do discover a way, let me know, because it would definitely come in handy. Cheers! TNXMan 17:34, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

G7

I just deleted the Lithuania Express article per G7 (it was pulled up on one of my browser tabs for a couple of hours). I usually don't like "overturning" another admin's decision, but I didn't understand your reason for reverting to a previous revision, restoring the page's content; the author wished for the article to be deleted. Am I missing something? Regards, JamieS93 17:01, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

I saw a cleanup edit from another editor, which I felt invalidated the claim of the "only" author requesting deletion. However, it was a borderline case, so I don't have a problem with your decision. Cheers! TNXMan 19:48, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. The edit was a rather straightforward removal of redundant content instead of editing/building upon the article, so to me granting the author's request was still in reach. Unless the edits go beyond vandal reverts, SmackBot, typo fixes and the like, it's still primarily the author's original work, and IMHO it's usually fine to delete. But my views probably differ a bit from other admins. :) Best, JamieS93 01:49, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi you just turned down the speedy request on this article and replaced it with a prod. The article had previously been tagged for prod and this had been removed. A Google search produces one hit [2] - to the wikipedia page. If it is a popular drink in Europe as claimed it should at least have a mention on a blog or somesuch. noq (talk) 15:12, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the context. I've deleted the article under G3, as a blatant hoax. TNXMan 15:15, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Eds driving school

Hi - I note that you deleted the above as A7. I had tagged it as G11 as it was created by an a/c with the same name as the article and seemed to me to be there purely to advertise the school. Whilst this is no big deal I was just wondering what your reasoning was as I find a lot of CSD is very subjective. Thanks and regards. Paste Let’s have a chat. 17:52, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

It really could have gone either way. I didn't think the advertising was blatant, but the G11 was a legitimate tag. Cheers! TNXMan 03:11, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Question

Hi, you deleted my posting today. I understand that there is a need to police the site for advertising, but how can i list this company without violating wikipedia rules for advertising. Here are other company sites with similar products. Is there a reason why these companies pages are allowed to stay on wikipedia? Is there a formula for the company page that I can follow? Please advise. Thanks.

Page deletion - Question

Hi,

I've created a page "Esperance For All, Inc." yesterday and you have deleted it because the purpose of the subject has not been stated. My question is: should the purpose of the subject be stated in the article itself or as a site note? Because the article explained what Esperance For All, Inc. is , what it's goal and objective is and what projects they have worked on. Could you please clarify what was missing and why it has been deleted? Thank you very much for your time and input.

Best regards, Sam —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.113.238.115 (talk) 23:12, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

The article didn't explain why the organization was notable enough for an entry. I would encourage you to read our info on writing your first article and how to use reliable sources to support it. TNXMan 03:29, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thank you for the feedback. I will rewrite the article and submit it again focusing on the importance of why the article should be "notable"... Best, Sam —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.113.238.115 (talk) 04:17, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Deletion of "Senomix Timesheets" page?

Hi,

I just logged in to add some edits to the Senomix Timesheets Wikipedia page which used to be located at:

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Senomix_Timesheets

However, I see it was marked for speedy deletion and removed by you this weekend.

As far as I can tell, the page itself did not match the "Unambiguous advertising or promotion" reasons for which it was deleted. There was no advertising on that page and we have been exceptionally careful in writing the text to ensure it met Wikipedia's standard for product histories. There was no promotional chatter or other garbage which I'm sure you would see from auto-generated spam pages -- it was a description of the product: One of the first commercial applications to use Sun's Java Web Start technology.

Is there any way that deletion could be reversed or contested? The conditions under which it was selected for removal seem particularly capricious.

Thanks,

Zkeifkaf (talk) 02:08, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

If you would like to write an article for this, I would suggest writing a draft in your userspace (something like User:Zkeifkaf/Sandbox) and asking another editor to review it before moving it to the mainspace. The original article was unsupported by reliable sources and appeared to be a press release. This guide to writing your first article may also be of assistance. TNXMan 03:20, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for that feedback.
To clarify the article and ensure it is not confused with promotional material, I have added in an external reference to the Sun Microsystems 2004 Swing Sightings journal in which the software was first mentioned and will obtain additional materials to cite for relevant content over the coming week. Other article text was also adjusted to clarify the listing, with a sentence describing the software's functionality (which could possibly be construed as promotional) removed entirely.
Would those adjustments resolve your concerns about the entry's content?

Billy Russell (TV Presenter)

Just curious, why did you speedy this? I'm not complaining that it was deleted — I was the one who prodded it — just surprised at the reason. Please leave a talkback at my talk. Nyttend (talk) 13:20, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

It appeared to vandalism. Notes like "his sex is male and on fire" "and when his illustrious career with Channel V ends, become a teacher due to his love of children" made me think it more of a joke/hoax article. I can restore it if you'd like though. Cheers! TNXMan 13:51, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Both of those bits that you mention were added after I prodded it, and not by the original editor, so they likely were vandalism; there wasn't anything in the original article that I would call vandalism. Still, no complaints about it being deleted. Thanks for the speedy reply. Nyttend (talk) 18:20, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi there....... I would like to create the above article... I am actually a student of the institute whose cultural festival is Saarang, and will write it in an unbiased, way stating only the facts with proper references ([3] among others). I understand that this article has been repeatedly deleted, but I will write this article the right way. I request that I be allowed to create the article. Rkr1991 (Wanna chat?) 06:11, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

FACT (band)

I think the band FACT, from Japan, deserves to have a page on here now. They released their first full-length in the U.S. at the beginning of the year on Vagrant Records and have toured extensively now with several popular U.S. bands including Senses Fail, Greeley Estates, and others, and are about to release their second full-length at the beginning of next year. Any reason in particular that they are being blocked? —Preceding unsigned comment added by JB11sos (talkcontribs) 07:42, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

I've restored the page, but I would suggest improving it right away. As it stands, there are no reliable sources and no real indication of why this band is notable enough to warrant an article. TNXMan 12:49, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Saarang

Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me why you deleted the Saarang page three times, every time citing the same reason. I would like to point out that I have done my best not to write the article from a self promotion kind of view, and the article does reflect that. In fact, none of the other users have taken offence to the article and it has been here for many years; every year it is modified to reflect the current happenings at Saarang, which is an annual college level cultural festival. I hope we can talk this out. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oobhsuhk (talkcontribs) 10:41, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

The article was written like an advertisement or brochure. I would suggest working with User:Rkr1991, who posted a few sections above this one, to create a better article. Work in a sandbox, being sure to write from a neutral point of view and to use reliable sources. After you've written a draft, ask another editor to review it and then you can think about moving it to the mainspace. TNXMan 12:52, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Grandoldteam page deletion

This page has been deleted. The deletion and move log for the page are provided below for reference.

So, in less than two hours of its creation - you deleted it on the grounds that there was no indication the article may meed guidelines for inclusion?

How about giving a page over two hours before making assumptions? Poor moderation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GrandOldTeam (talkcontribs) 16:31, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

I would suggest starting by indicating why it's notable enough to warrant an article in the first place. You may find this guide to writing your first article useful as well. TNXMan 16:33, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
Also, please read our info on conflict of interest and why you shouldn't be writing articles about websites that you run. TNXMan 16:34, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

"Wikipedia articles should not exist only to describe the nature, appearance or services a website offers, but should describe the site in an encyclopedic manner, offering detail on a website's achievements, impact or historical significance"

The latter would have been done if you hadn't so hastily deleted it (within two hours of creation).

Oh, and again ANOTHER assumption. I don't run it.

what you'll have to do is delete Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning, and then move User:Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning to Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (just in case I confused you). Regards, SpitfireTally-ho! 17:09, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I'm not entirely sure what happened there either. Is everything where it should be? On a side note, it worries me that this article has been edited by a "team", which to me implies a shared account. TNXMan 17:11, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
I was going to direct the user/s to the policy regarding shared accounts.
What basically happened was that the user/s tried to move the page User:Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning into the main space, for some reason, cluebot thought this was vandalism, and reverted it, something to do with redirects to non-existent pages (I have reported a false positive, I expect that the redirect was created, and then the page was moved, but between the two cluey tried to revert the move because the redirect was heading towards a (then) non-existent page.
Then I tried to undo cluebots revert of the move, but (stupidly) move the page to Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning instead of Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning. Then I realized that the page at Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning needed to be deleted before I could move to it, so move the page back to User:Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning in the meantime, then you came and moved Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (which was now just a redirect) to Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning over the redirect.
Yeh, so basically, if you could move User:Manderson.utsystem/Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning to Intercultural Communicative Competence in Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning that would tidy the entire thing up.
Goodness, I completely despise page moves, heh heh, SpitfireTally-ho! 17:18, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
"Communicative Competence", if it was "incompetence", then it would totally sum up my last comment :) SpitfireTally-ho! 17:24, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Help

o.k, so I have been trying in vain to add a picture to an article i helped expand substantially. The article I am referring to is about the author Patrick French, and at the author's own request I have been trying to upload a picture made available by his publisher. You, and other extremely zealous administrators/editors, keep deleting the image apparently because I have an improper license. I don't see how. I have tried to figure this out, but its extremely confusing. So, here I am, hoping that you could perhaps tell me what I need to do to make sure you don't delete it on a whim. OffshoreGrid

Hi tnxman307

I had created the OffshoreGrid project's wikipedia page when I got an alert saying "copyright infringement" and then the page was promptly deleted by you. As we wrote the material for the OffshoreGrid project site, we feel it should be ok for us to replicate the same text in Wikipedia. As I am new to this wiki thing I would really appreciate it if you could help me solve the infringement issue.

Best regards,

Jason —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ewea (talkcontribs) 15:16, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, as all contributions here must be licensed under this text. If you do own the material, then this page may be useful. Finally, if you have a conflict of interest with a subject, you are highly discouraged from editing that page. TNXMan 15:31, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

I am just writing this to let you know that there is someone posting on the talk page of a page you recently deleted, because Im aware that there's a bot that goes through pruning talkpages of deleted articles, sometimes fairly quickly, and wanted you to notice it. I myself am not requesting that the article be restored, however. The text of the conversation is:

-- Soap Talk/Contributions 22:00, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up. You mention that you had this watchlisted, did it exist under a different title before? I only see the edits from today. Of course, if there are reliable sources supporting the article, I'd be happy to restore it (or even userfy it, but there wasn't a whole lot there to begin with). Cheers! TNXMan 22:44, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh, that's strange. I must have watchlisted it even though it didn't exist (I do that occasionally). There once was such a thing as the Pansexual Peace Party, but as far as I know the only ranking member lost interest quite a few years ago. The google results for the term seem to consist mostly of people who've named themselves after the "original". -- Soap Talk/Contributions 00:56, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Koleko page should not have been deleted, you did not read my talk article

Hi there, I see you've done a lot of good stuff for wikipedia and know quite a bit about it, so hopefully we can work this out: the page had existed for less than a few minutes before it was deleted; this was not time for me to add further references, and the page was actually deleted as I wrote further information on the talk page, therefore you probably didn't read it. I recognise that I should have kept it in the sandbox longer but deleting so quickly just made it very difficult for me to write a good article -- I couldn't even do the talk page before it was deleted.

At the very least, please send me the content that you deleted so I can continue to work on it and add references, but it really can't be something you often do to kill a page before it has a proper talk entry. If you're concerned about why this topic should be covered on wikipedia, consider that there are many pages about popular cult musicians who wrote famous music, and that this article is especially worthy, as the artist notoriously goes uncredited for their original composing of the song "See the sun standing before me".

Koleko is almost entirely unknown on the internet and does not make much info available on his website, but he is significantly covered in relevant music press and other media(citations coming, dependent on time, hopefully others will contribute). There is also news which I was about to add, as a new EP is coming out soon according to the artist's myspace.

Thanks for trying to keep wiki clean but you deleted this article way too fast.

Best wishes, -Sam SamRMC (talk) 03:45, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

The page you wrote can be found in this sandbox. I'm not worried about whether this page should be covered here, but when the page is created with a Youtube link, a Last.fm reference, and no clear indication of importance, it qualifies for speedy deletion in my eyes. I would encourage you to read this guide, as it may have some info to help you along. TNXMan 03:51, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

That's great, thanks for the link. I read YFA and thought that what I had was a start. I guess I will add more references and explain in detail how Koleko's music has been so influential despite his obscurity. Thanks again.

The first I had already blocked and I just tagged the second. If you run across more, let me know. Cheers! TNXMan 17:40, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Penbat made a false and groundless accusation against a totally innocent editor User:Alamanth simply because they were challenging the arrant, pseudo psychological nonsense he posts to gratify his personal egomania. You can easily prove this with an IP check, I have even emailed you from the interface, from my Zeraeph account and offered to give you my landline number so that you can establish my geo-location and clear this totally innocent User:Alamanth which is what you SHOULD be doing...do THAT and I go away...obviously that is too simple and decent for you, you would rather encourage this loathsome, hypocritical bully instead. I am happy to spend an HUGE portion of Christmas doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to clear User:Alamanth's name, and, if you were an admin in truly good faith, you would be willing to spend an hour or so working with me towards that end. Rather than reinforcing Penbat. Shame on you. --109.79.245.126 (talk) 18:05, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
You've been blocked for block evasion. TNXMan 18:16, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
No, I think you will find I have been blocked because your priorities do not give sufficient attention to right, wrong and actual justice...I am not asking you to do a s*dding thing for *me*, I am asking you to run a simple IP check, call me on my landline for geolocation if you feel the need and then move towards unblocking a totally innocent individual called User:Alamanth who has been harassed and bullied by User:Penbat for standing up to his nonsense. He doesn't even really think User:Alamanth is my sockpuppet, our opinions are too different for that to be possible...this also amounts to wanton harassment of myself under UK and US law to which I have every right to object as I see fit. --109.79.234.115 (talk) 18:29, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
See, here's the thing. You've been banned. That means you're not allowed to edit, either from your account or an IP until you spoken with Arbcom. TNXMan 18:42, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
See here's the *real* thing, ordinarily, I wouldn't edit Wikipedia if you paid me, but when I KNOW for certain, someone like User:Alamanth has been falsely and vexatiously accused I am under a moral obligation to do anything I can...and, as you do not seem to be able to stop me, if I were you I would grow up and find a better, more constructive approach. User:Alamanth exonerated = me gone...how hard can that be? --78.152.255.245 (talk) 18:56, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
User:Alamanth DID request to be unblocked - twice and was told
  • "Decline reason: "The evidence at the SPI is convincing beyond a reasonable doubt."
  • "Decline reason: "I endorse the conclusions of Daniel and MuZemike. The evidence provided against you is extremely convincing, and your defense is not."
Both of which are clearly misguided statements, which a simple IP check (that should have been done before ANY false accusations were endorsed in this way) would have proved beyond reasonable doubt all along. --109.79.226.8 (talk) 19:41, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but Wikipedia is not a place to host your content. There are several other websites around that will allow you to host a page for free. The one I have heard of the most is Tripod.com. They will allow you to have your own website for free. Also, you can type your signature by typing the tilde sign (~) 4 times. So ~~~~ produces my signature: TNXMan 15:33, 23 December 2009 (UTC)

DELETION of For the Cause STI Awareness Charity, Inc.

This page continues to be deleted although I make the suggested changes to it. The sad thing about it is that the first 2 times i added the "hangon" tag to the page so I could make the changes but admin deleted it in less than 5 minuets later. I came across this organization and was moved by the great work that it does in charlotte... for the HIV positive community. HIV/AIDS is in the top 4 of leading causes of death here in the US and the contributions of community based organizations NEED to be known. The knowings of this organization, as well as other organizations like it are just as important as knowing about Columbia University or any profession athletic team. These institutions are moving deprived communities by giving it's members the needed education and resources that can essencially SAVE THEIR LIVES.

Can you please explain why Wikipedia does not want viewers to know about these types of organizations? Or why it is more "encyclopedic" to know about an athletic team rather then a grass roots orgnization of volunteers who go out of their way to serve a cause; helping to saves lives? Block lift for username change

Hello Tnxman307. I notice Bitemyshinymetalass78 (talk · contribs · count · logs · block log · lu · rfa · rfb · arb · rfc · lta · socks) had been blocked by The Anome for a username violation. It seems you then unblocked Bitemyshinymetalass78 so that he may have the opportunity to change his name. Since the unblock, he has been highly active in discussions and is demonstrating actions that could be considered vandalism. Considering all of his time he has spent on Wikipedia after the unblock with absolutely no action taken in changing his name, is there anything you can do to ensure this happens? Thanks. roguegeek (talk·cont) 19:33, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Actually, the user has filed a request at WP:CHU (it's waiting for bureaucrat attention). However, if the user has problems beyond his/her username (behavior, edit warring, etc.) I would definitely encourage a report to AIV or WP:AN3. TNXMan 19:37, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Please don't label as vandals various noobs and school kids making test or even probable good-faith but misguided or incorrect edits, as you did twice recently at Brine shrimp. Neither of those cases were vandalism. SOUIT

I know my page is marked for deletion and I am adding some more information to prevent this... but...

SOUIT is new technology that is talked about in some web development circles. The technology is coming forth in much the same way that AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript And XML) came about in 2005. Several people were using it and finally it got more attention when it got a name.

So SOUIT, SOUI, SOFEA are all acronyms which mean the same thing. Please let's not destroy new information, I will add to the page as the information grows, but it has to start somewhere and currently it is only a tiny seed waiting to blossom.

Help

Hi, i am copying and pasting the exhange I had with you a few days ago, followed by another query. I'd appreciate your help.

o.k, so I have been trying in vain to add a picture to an article i helped expand substantially. I would appreciate if you did not direct me to one of the Wikipedia pages on uploading images because they are full of jargon and beyond my comprehension. It would be great though if you could give me instructions in simple English. Thank you. Mandakinigahlot1984 (talk) 21:22, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

When you upload the image, you cannot say the image is for Wikipedia use only or for education use only. Images must be either free for anyone for use for anything or licensed under an acceptable fair use license. Furthermore, if you have a conflict of interest with the subject, you probably shouldn't be editing their article anyway. TNXMan 22:31, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
So, I am still not sure how I should upload the picture. I tried a different license but it was still deleted. I would really appreciate if you could tell me exactly which license I ought to choose. I understand about conflict of interest, and I would urge you to read the article, if at all you feel it is non-neutral or biased in anyway, I will be more than happy to make the change.Counting on your advice. Thanks. Mandakinigahlot1984 (talk) 12:50, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
I took another look at the image and saw that it is a copyrighted work (this is why it was deleted). The Random House website indicates that the picture is copyrighted by the photographer. Wikipedia cannot host that image at all unless we receive notification from the author that he releases the copyright. Please see this page for more info. TNXMan 12:54, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

So, I e-mailed the photographer who has a copyright of the picture and this is what he said, "Yes, of course Wikipedia may use the picture with no charge, They should put a copyright sign by it, so anyone who wishes to download may contact me to let me know how it may be used." Could you please let me know, if Wikipedia rules allow that, and if they do, what license should I select while uploading the picture. Thanks 203.200.81.107 (talk) 13:49, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

They were blocked (by you - that's why I'm badgering you about it :-) ) for having a company name as user name; all they ever did before being blocked was to post adverts to their user talk page, and after the block in November they have been back a couple of times to add more advertising to their talk page. Well, the article still does not list any independent reliable sources that support the facts listed in the article. That's a big step before the article is ready to go. TNXMan 12:48, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Jewish Women's Archive page

I have tried to present the JWA material in a neutral, factual tone. I am happy to reword it, but I would like some direction as to why you think that this is problematic. Is there something in the article so far that is untrue? Exaggerated? Inappropriate? Is there something inappropriate about there being an article about this organization on Wikipedia? [Fair disclosure: I am an employee of this organization, although I have made Wikipedia edits that go back prior to my employment at JWA, and since then, on topics related to JWA and to other issues/links entirely.] Adavidow (talk) 21:30, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Ari Davidow

The article was deleted because it was advertising (basically, it was a list of publicity points for the group, sourced only to the group itself) and did not indicate why the group was notable enough to warrant an article. If you have a conflict of interest with the group, you are highly discouraged from editing/creating articles about them. Our info on writing your first article may be of assistance here as well. It appears it was deleted earlier for Advertising or Promotion. Please let us know what to do in order to correct this also. We do not wish to violate any of Wikipedia's policies. Acting under the request of President of Adaco, we are attempting to publish this article. Please let me know what we need to do in order to successfully post the article. I'm sure the President will verify his desire for the article to be published here by us.Lastly, the article should just be entitled "Adaco" not AdacoRevisionVA, however I believe that is my assistant's fault. Data Applied Page Edits

Hi, I've noticed you changed content for the Data Applied page I created a few weeks ago. It's true that the article was mixing information about the company and the software, so I've tried to improve content to make it only about the environment (as per other Wikipedia articles such as KNIME, WEKA, RapidMiner, SPSS Clementine, etc.). Thanks! Marksenizer (talk) 23:13, 7 January 2010 (UTC)marksenizer.

Edit: forgot to mention I have no affiliation with the company (I just use their environment). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Marksenizer (talkcontribs) 23:25, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the software isn't notable enough to warrant an article. I've restored the info about the company, as it is the only one to have received coverage in independent reliable sources. I've left the software as a header under "products". TNXMan 00:29, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for restoring some of the content. Obviously I'm sad to see all the technical info I had collected gone, but won't change anything until I find a reliable source regarding the environment. For the sake of fairness / consistency, please do take a look at wikipedia articles about rapidminer and knime.

deletion of the EuroNF page

Dear Tnxman307,

I see that you have considered that the EuroNF page which I tried to publish was inadequate for some reasons. I am indeed no expert on wikipedia etiquette, and I just tried aligning to similar material from other Networks of Excellence descriptions (see e.g. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Future_of_Identity_in_the_Information_Society) which were considered as adequate.

what did I miss? where did I do wrong?

I would welcome any help from you: EuroNF is indeed a recognized NoE, and I do not understand why explaining what it does is a problem. And before going into the pain of writing new material (and believe me, it is indeed a pain when you are no expert....) I would like to clarify whatever was initially wrong.

Also, I do wonder why Wikipedia did not send me any warning before discarding the material. Or did I miss it? was it sent by a pigeon which was shot before reaching me?

Request

Hello,

I was wondering if you could remove the "blocked from editing Wikipedia" appears box on my talk page. I have since changed my username, which was excepted, and am not sure why I am still blocked from making edits. Could you please explain to me how this works as I am still new to Wiki and would like to know if you cannot remove the block what steps I need to take to have it lifted.

Kind regards Rail Plus Australia (talk) 21:57, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

I've removed the notice, per your request. Your new username is RailGuru. If your signature is not displaying the way you would like, click on the "my preferences" tab at the top of a page to adjust it. TNXMan 22:19, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Why did you delete my half finished page?

Like other pages on here I was trying to write about christianchat.co.uk you deleted the page before I was able to get back to add to it....

It is not different to the pages: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Christianity.com or http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Crosswalk.com why are these not also deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by CCUK (talkcontribs) 22:54, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Your page was deleted because it did not indicate why it was notable enough to warrant an article. I would suggest reading our guide to writing your first article, as that may have info that can assist you. Finally, the state of other articles has no bearing on yours, as each article is judged on its own merits. TNXMan 23:02, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Korea Environment Institute

I'm curious what made you want to delete the entry for the Korea Environment Institute? We are a non-profit publicly funded research institution funded by and affiliated with the Korean government. Information uploaded here is for informational purposes only and not for advertising as we have nothing to sell nor anything to promote. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Korenvit (talkcontribs) 06:08, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the page was advertising for your group. Please read our info on writing your first article, as well as our info on conflicts of interest (which highly discourages you from writing about group with which you are employed). TNXMan 12:45, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

I think you are being overzealous, and I do not see how such could be construed as advertising in any reasonable definition of the word as nothing is being sold and the page is written solely for accessibility and for informational purposes, particularly for other research scientists participating in conferences like the recent UN Conference on Climate Change. Furthermore, while I appreciate the possibility of conflicts of interest, I must reiterate that we are not a commercial institution nor is this in any way a controversial matter upon which we are campaigning, nor have you shown that I have attempted to advance the particular interests of KEI over the informational purposes of Wikipedia in providing general information on research institutions in environmental science (particularly to other scientists or to those with an interest in Korea or in the Asia region). As a specialized research institution in a specialized field in a non-English speaking country, it would be wishful thinking in the extreme to assume that some random unrelated party will some day write an article; accordingly your claims of conflict of interest are largely unfounded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Korenvit (talkcontribs) 06:23, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Do you work for the institution (or are you otherwise affiliated with them)? Then, by definition, you have a conflict of interest with the subject. Furthermore, your sentence structure (repeatedly using the term "we") leads me to believe that your account is a shared account, which is prohibited. Finally, it is clear to me that you would be unable to write a neutral, independently sourced article about this subject. If you would still like to write something, I would suggest writing it in a sandbox first and asking another editor to review the article before moving it to the mainspace. TNXMan 14:31, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

You are certainly free to maintain that opinion, although I do not agree that it is tenable. If "by definition" no one affiliated with an institution (and again, "by definition" the most knowledgeable on the subject in question), is a priori prohibited from making a good faith contribution to Wikipedia, there would be very little content to put up here. Such guidelines are to be interpreted flexibly in accordance with the spirit, rather than the letter of the law; surely I shouldn't need to remind you that Wikipedia is not a bureaucracy. You appear to have a misapprehension of what actually constitutes a genuine "conflict of interest," as "I" am not a lobbyist or PR person, "we" are a scientific institution, and not a lobby or PR firm, and "we" are not a commercial entity, as I have reiterated repeatedly (and which a reasonable person might understand as being of greater semantic significance than choice of pronoun).

The information I have attempted to upload here was written in good faith to provide information to other English speaking parties interested in environmental science, and not for the purposes of political campaigning or commerce (instances which would constitute an actual conflict of interest), or any other motive contrary to the purposes of a free encyclopedia. And yes, since discussing the matter with you, again in good faith, has apparently done little to advance the issue, I guess the next step is to engage another editor to see what can be done.Korenvit (talk) 02:46, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Sock question at Smithers, British Columbia

Weird stuff going on at Smithers, British Columbia, and I'd like some clarification if you don't mind. A while back, an editor who was throwing out anti-Semetic rants blanked a section on the Jewish community in Smithers. This editor, SMRyaacresitaenr (talk · contribs), was blocked for vandalism, then you tagged him as a sockpuppet of Webley455 (talk · contribs). I don't doubt he was a sock, but I'm not at all familiar with the original sockmaster, who doesn't appear to have ever been blocked or even warned.

Two more SPAs showed up tonight at the article (which has very few editors, it seems), the editors were 911WasAnInsideJew (talk · contribs) and Mozzul-San (talk · contribs) (which was actually what SMRyanwhatever changed his home page to read [5]). They both appear to be disruptive SPAs, but then Webley455 showed up again and reblanked the setion as a hoax (right after another account added sources).

I'm a bit confused about the whole matter, so I thought I'd come to you and see if since you initially tagged this as coming from Webley455, you could figure out what's going on. I was sure the two SPAs were SMRyanwhatever, but if he's also Webley (who isn't blocked), should they be blocked?

Sorry for the confusion, but thanks in advance for taking a look. Dayewalker (talk) 06:08, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up. I was originally responding to a ANI report for the first blocks. After reviewing the contributions here, I've blocked the lot of them. I appreciate the help, that's what I figured would happen. It must have just slipped between the cracks, and I couldn't figure out why he was still active if he had blocked socks. Thanks! Dayewalker (talk) 20:12, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion. G10. Pages that disparage or threaten their subject

G10. Pages that disparage or threaten their subject or some other entity, and serve no other purpose. These "attack pages" may include slander, legal threats, and biographical material about a living person that is entirely negative in tone and unsourced. These pages should be speedily deleted when there is no neutral version in the page history to revert to. Both the page title and page content may be taken into account in assessing an attack. Articles about living people deleted under this criterion should not be restored or recreated by any editor until the biographical article standards are met.

Hi

Would it be ok if you dealt with this user? We seem to be having some problems with them advertising unsourced material on imageboard and repeatedly reverting anyone who tries to correct the article.

Thanks 222.116.210.143 (talk) 23:58, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

I've blocked the user. However, for future reference, please be sure to leave a warning on their talk page (there's a list here) so they know to stop. You can also report vandalism to the vandalism noticeboard. Thanks! TNXMan 00:06, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Stephenson Harwood

I think Stephenson Harwood is a re-creation of a deleted page. Should it be marked db-spam? Biscuittin (talk) 19:56, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

I've deleted it as such. In the future, you can go ahead and tag the page for review by an admin. Cheers! TNXMan 23:11, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, what tag should I use? Biscuittin (talk) 14:51, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
{{db-spam}} is the best tag. You can also use a {{prod}} tag to mark it for proposed deletion instead of speedy deletion. TNXMan 15:51, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Police Athletic League

Hello Tnxman307. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Police Athletic League, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 04:09, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Outraged

Excuse me... but I did not deserve to have my page on Dotsy Bingham deleted. I am new to wikipedia and I am just wondering, if you create a page do people just delete it immediatley without even reading it? Because that seems to be what you have done! Please write back as I would like to know what you have against me creating a Dotsy Bingham page. I don't mind constructive criticism and I would like to know what you think about improving that page.

hello tnxman, i've worked on my article and have it now on my user subpage User:T-O UPET/labau - would you be so kind to check if it is ok this time? thx! --T-O UPET (talk) 09:56, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
I've read over the article. It looks better, but there are still issues. Many of the sources you've cited appear to be self-published (i.e. published by the subjects of the article). The references used must be independent third-party reliable sources. There also appear to be some instances of peacock terms. Finally, some of the material appears to be uncited. Be cautious of original research. Keep working at it! TNXMan 12:51, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Alright, thx for your help. I'll improve and tell you again. --T-O UPET (talk) 14:09, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Ok, again I worked on it. User:T-O UPET/labau - would you be so kind to check again if there is still stuff to work on before publishing? --T-O UPET (talk) 19:48, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

(outdent) I've tweaked the material some, removing some of peacock terms and formatting some of the text. I would also encourage you to cut back on the number of external links, replacing them with internal Wikipedia links where possible. After that, you should be ready to go. TNXMan 20:12, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

yeah thx a lot! i've putted external links only, where internal wiki-links were not possible (but still removed some and added some internals, where reasonable). i re-wrote the list of activities in the 'mediaruimte' clause, because it expresses directly 'transdisciplinarity', which is mentioned before (considering that you took it out because of the 'being perceived as...'). if this is still ok and you give your 'yes', i'll publish finally. --T-O UPET (talk) 22:59, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

exploration summer programs

hi, i saw that you deleted the exploration summer programs page for 'unambiguous advertising'.

i was working on that page last week, trying to get it to conform to wikipedia standards (ie, make it sound less like an advertisement). i first tried citing sources. then i removed entire sections that felt too much like marketing speak. when i looked for the page today, i saw that it had been deleted.

can you explain what specifically on the page fell outside the wikipedia community standards? is there a way to undo its deletion or access what had been posted on the page?

Cnglasser (talk) 19:35, 25 January 2010 (UTC)cnglasser

The page was deleted because it read like a brochure and did not cite any independent reliable sources. I would encourage you read our info on writing your first article and draft an article in your userspace (something like User:Cnglasser/Sandbox). You can then ask another editor to review it for you. I've got the article watchlisted. The original name was blocked a username violation only and the block message encourages them to create a new account. If they continue to spam, you can definitely report them to AIV. Cheers! TNXMan 16:26, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi Tnxman307, there's is currently a discussion at WT:CRIC relating to the above case. As the blocking admin, it would be useful to have your input. Although the CU confirmed that the accounts used the same IP(s), I for one am not entirely convinced that the use of the accounts conflicts with WP:ILLEGIT and I think this may be because the IP filing the case misrepresented the situtation. For example I looked at the actions of Orrelly Man mentioned in the case and could find nothing abusive or disruptive and have explained as much at WT:CRIC. Further illumination would be welcome if you have time. Thanks, Nev1 (talk) 20:12, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

After reviewing the SPI case, it was clear that BlackJack had used alternate accounts disingenuously. However, I also reviewed the comments at the Cricket Wikiproject and consensus seems to be that the block could be shortened and the case was not presented to BlackJack the way it should have been. I have no problem with admins who are more familiar with BlackJack altering the block. If there's any more input I can provide, please let me know. TNXMan 20:57, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
Hmm, well considering that the BlackJack account was being harrassed by IPs (as explained here), transferring to the Orrell Man account would seem to fit with WP:SOCK#LEGIT. However, I have only examined the incidents mentioned in the case and am not really sure about the Douglas Mortimer account (although judging from the recent date of creation I'd suggest it was because both the Orrelly Man and BlackJack accounts had become comprimised to the person following BJ around). If the incidents metioned are the worst there is, the person operating the accounts was editing productively. Thanks for the reply, I'll leave a note on WT:CRIC. Nev1 (talk) 21:26, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Shortening the block doesn't really make sense - it implies the block is punitive, rather than preventing disruption. Abusive sockers are indeffed to prevent their abusive disruption. If others agree with me that he's not been disrupting, remaining blocked for any period of time doesn't really make sense. --Dweller (talk) 21:33, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

I apologize - when I said "altering the block", I should have clarified. Any alteration to the block (lifting entirely, shortening, etc.) is OK. As you point out, alternate accounts are allowed. However, according to WP:SOCK#LEGIT, they must be clearly marked as such. If, as Nev1 mentions, the user was being stalked by an IP, starting a new account is OK. However, the old account should be abandoned, per WP:CLEANSTART (the SPI page points several instances where both accounts edited at the same time). Again, if there's anything else with which I can help, please let me know. TNXMan 21:42, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

As I wrote here some of the facts have been misrepresented by the WT:CRIC members. It wasn't just a case of voting in some AFDs, BlackJack in his own words used the Orrelly Man account to "flush out" somebody he was in a dispute with. Secondly there's no evidence of harassment prior to the creation of the Orrelly Man account. Thirdly Orrelly Man posted [6] [7] to suggest he wasn't BlackJack. Fourthly he misused clean start by repeatedly switching between the BlackJack and his socks. I suggest there should be a discussion in a neutral environment before this block is lifted. --88.109.8.46 (talk) 10:34, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

On the subject of "flushing out", the reference to the Bedle review in the WT:CRIC post makes clear that the editor who wrote the above is either or both of User:Derek.cashman and User:Eustress. If you go back to the Bedle review you will see clear interactivity between these two with proven abusive use of an IP address by Eustress. I submit that the IP address which instigated the BJ sockpuppet investigation, and the one which supported it, is Eustress/Cashman again. See this page in December 2008 and follow the links including the report on WP:ANI.
This is malpractice of the worst kind and Wikipedia has effectively acted as an accessory in it by failing to implement its stated procedure, which incorporates giving the accused user a chance to defend himself, a key aspect of any modern legal system. This is not forgetting the hypocrisy of a "sockpuppet" being able to denounce a "sockpuppet" and get away with it. As for his assertion above that there was no harrassment before OM began, see the User:Richard Daft stuff which includes actual defamation that can still be found on the site.
I am definitely going to see my legal advisor about all this and, depending on his views, Wikipedia may find it has some explaining to do. --86.148.207.61 (talk) 07:34, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

No I'm not either of those people, as far as I can make out both live in America and my IP address is from the UK. Another correction, you can't by definition support a SPI.

To quote the WP:SPI page (emphasis added): "After submitting a case, consider notifying the suspected accounts by adding {{subst:socksuspectnotice|PUPPETMASTER}} ~~~~ to the bottom of their talk pages. Notification is not mandatory, and may, in some instances, lead to further disruption or provide a sockpuppeteer with guidance on how to avoid detection." Given your temperamental nature and the strong likelihood that you'd go crying to WT:CRIC, I thought the SPI would be less disrupted if you weren't informed.

The 'harassment' from Richard Daft stopped in January 2008 so why was the Orrelly Man account created in January 2009? The answer has nothing to do with harassment, it was purely down to the fact you didn't dare show your face after the hissy you threw over the failed GAN.

Users who make legal threats will typically be blocked from editing while legal threats are outstanding, keep digging BJ. --79.71.152.158 (talk) 10:45, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

You really are a sad case, aren't you? --86.148.207.61 (talk) 14:33, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Mercantile Football Association, subjective non factual input.

I am at a loss to understand how you can let something that is not factual remain on Wikipedia as pertaining to the section of the sentence after the comma, below. The Wooroloo team went through the season undefeated, although with some complaints for rough play and intimidation of the opposition. From the sentence above the portion, although with some complaints for rough play and intimidation of the opposition, is a subjective observation made by the person who edited the Wikipedia article and is derived from anonymously sent general public e mails to the referred opinion based website. I therefore ask you how those personal opinions placed anonymously by the general public can be deemed by you as a reliable source. What is factual is that no concerns were received by the club or its governing body. Only one footballer sought medical treatment after the game and that was due to being bumped into by his own team mate. The Association at no time received any form of complaint from either its members or any one from the general public over any matter regarding that portion of the sentence under question or the covering article. Browsing through Wikipedia and looking at other like sporting associations nowhere did I see any negative connotations towards those organisations even though historically and factually there have been instances of notoriety. I will leave it to you to make a balanced, objective decision on removing the second portion of the sentence in question. AfD nomination of B. A. Uralegaddi

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is B. A. Uralegaddi. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Basappa A. Deletion of Conniption (band)

You recently deleted an article I wrote about a SIGNED band called "Conniption" under the German label "Rock It Up Records" (http://www.rockitup.org). I also put about 10 references proving they are making quite a name for themselves in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area, and even around the world.

This took a lot of my time, and I would appreciate it to be put back up. Maybe the article should be put under Conniption (band) or something, but I believe they are known in this area at least, to have a wikipedia page. Please consider this.

Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Friday13michael (talkcontribs) 16:45, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the band did not indicate why it was notable enough to warrant a article. Deletion of Mark Titus

Why did you delete him? In the last 6 weeks, he's been written up in the New York Times, appeared on ESPN three times. His blog has over 2 million views. Yes, the last AfD was in June 2009, but the NYT article that nails notability came out in December 2009. Feel free to re-nominate, but I'd say the notability issue has been resolved. Tim Vickers (talk) 19:32, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

You have deleted the article on RCIMUN on grounds that it contains unambiguous advertising.

However, the information on the article is objective and as a matter of fact, true. The article is no different in its approach than the article on the Women's Conference.

RCIMUN -edited

I have edited my article on RCIMUN on my page (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Eyumusak/RCIMUN) How can I ask an editor to revise it to see if it is okay now?

Thank you, Eyumusak (talk) 17:21, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

You can ask simply by going to another editor's talk page and asking them to take a look for you (note, you link the page in a simpler fashion by typing [[User:Eyumusak/RCIMUN]], which produces User:Eyumusak/RCIMUN). However, glancing over the article, it still has the same issues as before - namely that is advertising for the group. Please see our guide to writing your first article for ideas on how to proceed. Speedy Deletion for MusicBee...

Hello! I did not make this page, but am quite intrigued about why it's placed on speedy deletion for non-notable software. It has been reviewed on sites like the How-To Geek (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/the-geek-blog/musicbee-is-a-fast-and-powerful-music-manager/) and MakeTechEasier (http://maketecheasier.com/musicbee-a-swiss-army-knife-media-manager-for-your-music-collections/2009/12/30). Not sure about the latter, but the former is definitely a notable site. Also, it's available for download on CNETDownload (http://download.cnet.com/MusicBee/3000-2141_4-11146933.html?tag=bc) and fileforum.betanews.com (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/MusicBee/1232891666/1), as well, obviously, as the main site. I would argue that these four sites, especially How-To Geek and CNETDownload, would make this software notable. If not, please explain what else would need to be done to make sure this page does not get deleted.

Thanks in advance, TheSaneLunatic (talk) 00:10, 6 February 2010 (UTC)TheSaneLunatic

The two download sites aren't really reliable sources. Simply being available to download doesn't mean the software is any more or less notable. The other sites are a start, but don't really provide significant coverage. Finally, the entire article reads like an advertisement for the software and probably needs to be completely re-written. If you would like to attempt to clean up the article, you are definitely welcome to, though. TNXMan 00:25, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the speedy response! I was looking it over and, for comparison, I saw Songbird, and although it's also marked up for cleanup efforts, I can definitely see the difference between this one and Songbird. So, probably a list of features would be better (instead of explaining every detail), and I'll see if I can find more notable review sites than those two. If I cannot find well known sites, but I clean up the article, will Musicbee still be eligible for deletion?

Thanks TheSaneLunatic (talk) 00:42, 6 February 2010 (UTC)TheSaneLunatic

It depends. Anyone can remove the {{prod}} template at the top of the article if they feel the article is no longer eligible for deletion. However, if it is removed and there are still significant issues, someone may bring the article to the wider community to determine whether the consensus is to keep it or delete it (these discussions can be found at this page). Hello,

May I know what do you have against MusicBee? Today I decided to improve it and I found that the page content was removed! I cannot make a perfect article for few days, I'll need some time. So, please, undo your changes and give me (and other people from the MisicBee community) improve the article. MusicBee is really great software with a big potential. BTW, the page is not much worse than, say, Media Monkey. So, why there is a different criteria?

P.S. I'm not the MusicBee developer, you can check the forum.

Regards, Anton —Preceding unsigned comment added by Antonski (talkcontribs) 16:22, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

The page has no independent third-party reliable sources to indicate why it is notable enough to warrant an article. Material that is unsourced is removed from articles. Wikipedia is not really a place to advertise for MusicBee. TNXMan 16:27, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
There was a request from the MusicBee community for such article, because "Wiki is the Bible" (citation). So, I've started the article. This is not advertisement. The goal of MusicBee is to be alternative to both Foobar2000 and iTunes, and these are notable programs, don't you think so?

I will add references to third party articles, just I need some time (I am a FTE and don't have a plenty of free time). Regards Antonski (talk) 16:49, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Please note that the existence or state of one article has no effect on another article (iTunes may be a notable program, but that has nothing to do with MusicBee). The nomination of the article for deletion remains in place for several days before any action is taken, one way or the other, so you do have some time. TNXMan 16:51, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Yes, but I have to undo your changes, would you mind doing instead?Antonski (talk) 16:56, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Actually, you don't have to undo the changes. Just re-add the material a bit at a time, citing reliable sources as you go. If you click on the "history" tab at the top, you can see all of the revisions made to the article (and any material that was added/removed). TNXMan 17:01, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, I will add links to review articles, but what about the features? What is "reliable source" about that? The information about the features is taken from the homepage and the program itself, is this reliable enough? I cannot see a reliable third party source citation in Winamp or MediaMonkey article, but their content is not removed? Antonski (talk) 17:06, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

(outdent) I'm sorry, but the homepage is not an independent source. A brief summation of the features may be OK, but the page length detailed description of the features is not allowed. And again, what the MediaMonkey or Winamp articles do or do not say really doesn't have an effect on this article. TNXMan 17:11, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I am not sure I fully understand. So, you say that the feature description is too detailed? So, If I just summarize the features, that would be better and you will not remove the content?Antonski (talk) 17:15, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
I do not have the final decision on whether the content is removed or not. I have proposed the article for deletion. Another administrator will review the article in a few days to decide is the software is notable enough to remain.
A brief description may be OK, but a huge detailed description is not. Too much unsourced description qualifies as advertising. TNXMan 17:18, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
OK, I will try to improve the article according to your recommendations, I'd like to ask you just to be more tolerant for the next few days. Please don't remove the content, so other people could use it and improve it. Antonski (talk) 17:25, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Should I construct the MusicBee article like VLC article? Or it's better to looks like Songbird_(software)?Antonski (talk) 08:35, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the page is advertising for the company. Please read our info on writing your first article as that may assist you. You can also write a draft in your userspace first to get the article into a good shape. TNXMan 19:01, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Vandalism

65.33.79.99 committed vandalism by replacing all of the content of the Super Bowl XLIV article with the text "Sooper Gay". I was thinking you could handle the matter. Mr. Prez (talk) 00:21, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Sorry I wasn't here when you left this note. I appreciate the heads up and if there are more incidents, let me know. TNXMan 12:54, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

It looks like...

...you have a fan. I would surmise that it was someone whose username you blocked at UAA or something similar. The Thing // Talk // Contribs 13:12, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Indeed. I think it's related to a joke article I deleted a week or so ago. Thanks for the reversions! TNXMan 15:33, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Removal of S-Cube Knowledge Model Section

Hello,

I've updated the S-Cube Wiki entry and described the S-Cube Knowledge Model and provided an external link to it. As far as I'm concerned, I didn't write this section in an "advertisement" style. I'm wondering, why this section was removed?

Martin.treiber (talk) 15:29, 10 February 2010 (UTC) Martin Treiber

The section was removed because it was not sourced to an independent reliable source. All of the information on Wikipedia must be independently verifiable. Please also note that if you have a conflict of interest with a subject, you are highly discouraged from editing its article. TNXMan 16:14, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Christopher Quigley

I notice you deleted Christopher Quigley some time ago (log), and wanted to just give you a note that there is a new incarnation - which looks like it won't be A7, but I just wanted to let you know. Thanks, Smappy (talk) 00:55, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

I deleted it as A7. Playing high school baseball is no indication of importance. I am open to other views though. Cheers! TNXMan 12:52, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Dana Reason festival list

Hi Tnxman- In regard to your deletion of all the festivals that lacked a linked article; wouldn't deleting these articles detract from Wiki's goal of interconnecting articles? Yes, the links are dead right now, but it seems to me that wikipedia's stated desire for writers to add links whenever they mention specific items supports that the redlinks will eventually become active when an article is written about that item. Even that they might inspire a reader to write the article themselves, thus increasing the abundance of, and access to, the contents of Wikipedia. So, I ask that the redlinks be allowed to remain, enticing others to write about them in the future. As I mentioned last month, I believe that wikipedia is not quite at the point where if an article hasn't yet been written on a subject, it must not be relevant. Maybe in a few years. Thanks for reading. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Reedozretich (talkcontribs) 17:55, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Dow Jones Industrial Average

Hi, I'm not sure if you saw my response on the Semi-Protected page; but just in case you missed it, here it is:

Well, there appears to be alot more random vandalism than helpful edits from unknown IPs. I would say every 7-14 days, someone from a random IP vandalizes the site. Only a few days ago, someone from a random IP did a Flood of vandalism ruining the page. I had to revert to an older edition of the page just to fix it. Please reconsider. Thank You RT6543 (talk) 19:25, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

That's not really enough to warrant semi-protection, especially if there are IPs adding good information. I'm hesitant to protect if it will scare off good anonymous editors. TNXMan 19:31, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Ok, I understand; the choice is up to you. But there is one minor thing you should be aware of. I'm not saying all, but many of those random IP contributions were made by me. I have a rotating IP address and sometimes I forget to sign in. I'm taking a farely accurate guess by saying the following, but of which I feel is true. Probably 60%-80% of edits made by random IPs to this page are vandalism. And I just checked this myself; in the last 12 days, there have been about 6 acts of vandalism not including the flood from 70.176.87.110 That works out to an act of vandalism every 2 days. I hope you'll change your mind. Thanks RT6543 (talk) 20:47, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Another sock

Hi HughMcHardy (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) appears to be another sock of HarveyCarter (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log). HautmanBrittles (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) was blocked a few days ago and HughMcHardy made the exact same comment on Talk:Tony Blair. Can you block them before they cause more trouble? Thanks Smartse (talk) 15:24, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Ah just realised that DrKiernan (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) blocked the last sock, let me know if I should ask them instead. Smartse (talk) 15:26, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Already done. The edits are almost identical. TNXMan 15:28, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the prompt action. Smartse (talk) 15:31, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Discussion page for European colonization of the Americas

Thanks for fix. The old sections show in Talk:European colonization of the Americas but the page does not show the last section or new section. I tried adding the disccussion item again but it didn't show up either unless looking at the page from "edit this page". I don't know how to fix it and I'm afraid I may make it worse by trying. Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.132.48.81 (talk) 18:03, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

There was a hanging<ref> tag in the previous section. Everything should be set now. TNXMan 18:15, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
That was quick, thanks again. Is the subject of the discussion I added about the animations something of interest to you? I'll stand by for a while if you care to comment. 172.132.48.81 (talk) 18:21, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Mercantile Football Association

I will leave it to you to make a balanced, objective decision on removing the second portion of the sentence in question by looking at what has been replied for others:- This section is puffery and salacious. Pages that disparage or threaten their subject or some other entity, and serve no other purpose. These "attack pages" may include slander, legal threats, and biographical material about a living person that is entirely negative in tone and unsourced. There is no neutral version in the page history to revert to. Regards Bobbie44 (talk) 02:03, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but it's what the source says. If you have an issue, I would suggest asking them. TNXMan 02:55, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey why did you delete CampusEAI Consortium?

Any reason?

This is a pretty important organization in higher education. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CronosOrb (talkcontribs) 04:48, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but the article did not indicate why the company was notable enough to warrant inclusion. I would suggest reading our info on writing your first article and writing a draft in your userspace (which allows you to make improvements before moving it to the mainspace).
