Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to Steele_(surname) appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. -=Troop=- (talk) 22:02, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Self promotion on your user page

[edit]

Hello, The Real Steele,

I'm afraid you've bumped up against our policy on self-promotion. Wikipedia isn't really for self-promotion (see our policy on promotion on user pages here). I'm removing the link to your Amazon author page, and making it more clear that this is a user page, not an article, by adding a banner notice at the top. Please don't re-add that link. A Wikipedia user page is primarily for telling Wikipedia editors a little about one another, not a home page. But I'm leaving everything else in place for now in case you decide to actively edit.

If you're interested in contributing to the encyclopedia, I'll leave a welcome template with useful information below. Let me know if you have any questions. --Floquenbeam (talk) 22:41, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have deleted your user page since it seemed to be an attempt to write a promotional autobiography. Please read Wikipedia:Autobiography and Your first article. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 01:24, 6 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

your user name

[edit]
There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page.
