Trolling?
I'm very upset that people would call another editor a troll here. You aren't the first person who this has happened to and you won't be the last, either. When new users try and take on larger roles, they get called names and most of them, unfortunately leave the project. Best, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 10:59, 16 July 2012 (UTC).
- It's ironic that the people who show up here to call him a troll are themselves trolls. (✉→BWilkins←✎) 12:11, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
- As a minor point of information, what's wrong with being a Troll. Unless it is linked to appearance, it hardly seems pejorative. In any event, I come from the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, and we have a whole population that are colloquially called "trolls" because they 'live beneath the bridge. In any event, it just seems to be a term that is loosely used in Wikipedia to describe someone who is a lurker, that is sees what is happening on a page, but doesn't ordinarily intervene. Like me. But I digress. Happy editing to you all. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 13:45, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks guys for making the point I am not a troll and that EggCentric and co. clearly are by basically harassing and bullying people away from Wikipedia. I'm sure you agree that something needs to be done with people who attack new users. Kindest thanks for your help! TheIrishWarden - Irish and proud (talk) 16:58, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Your request for rollback
Hi TheIrishWarden. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Calmer Waters 13:49, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi! First, I would recommend trying out rollback at the NAS. Also, another thing that rollbackers can do is help out at Special: ArticleFeedbackv5. After you try out rollback, I'll show you what to do there. Best, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 22:51, 16 July 2012 (UTC).

The plot thickens
Hi,
I stumbled across your page when I reverted some vandalism on it a few days ago. This coincided with what looks like some massive dispute between you (a fairly new user I see) and several established editors, (e.g user:Egg Centric, user:Gareth Griffith-Jones) as well as some anons, ultimately resulting in unacceptable trolling/harassment.
I see your talk page has been protected to prevent this, which is a shame as many other anonymous editors cannot speak directly to you if they have an issue. I also thought the quick arrival of the hounding trolls was a little suspciious so I did some digging...
user:Gareth Griffith-Jones made these two edits [1] [2] to an IP's talk page, both of which contained the phrase "There is no place for "TheIrishWarden" on wikipedia".
This was the same phrase (or very similar at least) used by two of the troll ips when they attacked your talk page. See [3], [4].
Of course, I may be way off the mark, but if you want to do something about this I'll leave the matter in your hands. If you'd rather forget about the whole incident and move on instead then that's your call. C.U.T.K.D T | C 17:39, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- Just for the record, I've mentioned this in the AN/I Case. Theopolisme TALK 18:03, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- unfortunately it was protected but that was due to persistant harassment by a few IP addresses. User suggested protection to protect myself from these edits. These random IP's sounds very dodgy. TheIrishWarden - Irish and proud (talk) 18:16, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Ok thanks I'll just forget it now. TheIrishWarden - Irish and proud (talk) 19:07, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- that is very interesting indeed, I did think these random IP's were a bit dodgy. What do you think of it? TheIrishWarden - Irish and proud (talk) 18:13, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- Personally I have no idea what to make of it. You could start an SPI if you thought it might help. Then again it may not tell us anything. C.U.T.K.D T | C 18:15, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- Would you support me if I filed an SPI case? I may get in more trouble if I go on solo. TheIrishWarden - Irish and proud (talk) 18:17, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- Maybe it would be better too see what others say on ANI. Thanks for the info. TheIrishWarden - Irish and proud (talk) 18:20, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

- Maybe just move on :). Dramah tends to go out once one party stops contributing to it or caring. You have plenty of Admins that are watching the situation and will quickly address any further attacks. I would also recommend taking down the notice at the top of the page. I saw that you had created an wrongly formatted SPI page, I have corrected the formatting and it is now correctly listed at WP:SPI however it is still blank and an admin has left a comment asking for your evidence. You can go ahead and provide the evidence or if you chose not to go ahead then you can ask the case to be closed. if you click on Special:Contributions/94.2.68.11 or any contributions of an IP at the bottom there is a link to Geolocate that tells the approximate geographic location of the IP. --DBigXray 20:55, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

What is an RFCU in Wiki terms? TheIrishWarden - Irish and proud (talk) 08:52, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

On worth of editors
An editor here does not need a certificate of worth from other editors. If you are making good edits here people will certainly appreciate your work whenever they notice it. If some editor is causing disruption on articles or to other users, he will be notified/warned by editors, after which you can get advise/sugestion from admins or editors you trust. Try various things but do what you enjoy doing here as you are not getting paid here. I am very active in fighting vandalism, and its good to contribte in that area as long as you stick on reverting only obvious vandalsim. following WP:NOTVANDAL might be helpful. regards--DBigXray 12:39, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- Ok thanks for that advice. Also do you think CUTKD is the controller of those IP's as EggCentric has issued a SPI against CUTKD and is making out that he is attacking my pages. I did make comment but removed it, just want to see what the verdict is. Thєíríshwαrdєn - írísh αnd prσud (talk) 12:46, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- Before I made my last comment here informing you about the geolocate feature, I tried to look at the geolocation of the IPs they seem to be from different locations. the person may be using proxies for editing. in any case only a check user can determine who the controller is, and even if they find out who the culprit is, the check users are not allowed to publicly link IPs to usernames. So just drop it, and dont think on those edits or the persons involved, it will not give you any pleasure and will lead to more WP:DRAMA. cheers--DBigXray 12:52, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

SPIs
I've just logged in to see that EC has gone ballistic and filed all sorts of SPIs against me. Look, I can't deny there's some truth to what he's mentioned - I do know of him irl, but most of it is a pile of toss (and I do suspect the guy has a few mental issues - for one reason or another). It's a real shame you (and anyone else for that matter) has been subjected to his warped version of events. You say the evidence stacks up, but how hard is it to frame someone here on wiki, be it Gareth or myself? How hard is it to invent evidence. All I ask is that you let the SPIs run their course, then make your mind up. In the meantime, I'm out of here. C.U.T.K.D T | C 20:21, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
I have nothing against you and I do not believe that you are controlling those IP's. I think it would be good to run the SPI to clear your name ( that's why I did it). I think it is the fairest way for me to find who is the bandit, I have to respond to claims by EC that you are the sockpuppeteer as I feel very upset about the messages. Also one IP claimed to be you, although I dismissed this as you being framed. It looks like it is you but I highly doubt it. Regards Thєíríshwαrdєn - írísh αnd prσud (talk) 20:42, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- I am adding user:Egg Centric to the SPIs. C.U.T.K.D T | C 20:46, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- I am so sorry, I have closed the case as I know your are decent and wouldn't do something like that. You may as well try with EC SPI I suppose as there may be links between the IP's and them. Thєíríshwαrdєn - írísh αnd prσud (talk) 20:48, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
- Well you should not have started an SPI if you were not very sure about it. anway if you have already went ahead, started SPI and gave evidence for that, I guess you can continue it and leave it for the admins/checkusers to decide or close it, if the concerned editors have not erred there is nothing they should worry about. just my thought. its upto you to decide. --DBigXray 21:32, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

FYI
Although this is not a formal noticeboard, I believe that it is proper to advise when your name has been raised on the Founder of Wikipedia's user talkpage.
Earlier this week you approached my talkpage to ask for an IP to be blocked, I politely declined saying "One childish post is harassment? Please don't make us play whack-a-mole. Again, you're just encouraging them". I don't personally believe this was a "brush off", but merely reinforcing the previous discussions we had about the anon IP's that were trolling you.
That said, an editor is trying to make it sound like I'm a bad person for saying that here and suggesting that because I brushed you off that I'm an unfit admin here.
You're not required to comment there, but I did want to advise you that I suggested that you did not believe that my statement was a "brush off". (✉→BWilkins←✎) 17:01, 20 July 2012 (UTC) I will comment. Thєíríshwαrdєn - írísh αnd prσud (talk) 18:01, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

- You can do as much or as little as you want- I've done over 350, but there are some with over 5,000. I'll post the criteria here instead of making you read complex policies. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 20:42, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

- G1: Nonsense characters (vfdgbafdhsfgsdfjvkzxcASfAFDSsrgDFgndgjnfg).
- G3: Pure Vandalism or Hoax
- G2: Test Page
- G10: Attack Page (Will also be blanked automatically if you tag it as such).
- G11: Spam
- A7: Not Notable (This is the most common type, but also the hardest).
Here are some examples, please decide which tag to use:
Flowers.com
Come buy our new products, ranging from roses to violets and call us at 111-111-1111 to place an order.
G11
Joe Smith

A7 It's a test page.

- Don't worry too much about this one. It's important that you learn which tags go where. These are all based on articles that I have come across. Please new page patrol at your convenience and start a CSD log using Twinkle. Best, Electriccatfish2 (talk) 21:34, 20 July 2012 (UTC).
(talk page stalker)So it seems that the main issue is with the A7 criteria. At the moment the best thing to do is to stick with the more obvious cases such as G3 or G1, and then progressively move to the other criteria. Re-read the criteria for speedy deletion templates and please take it slowly. Good luck!. -CTS talk 02:32, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

- There is a lot more to new page patrolling than just the deletion of pages. Deletion forms a tiny part of the purpose of new page patrolling. It would be a very good idea to follow the Article checklist for every single new page that you chose to patrol. Any pages that you aren't sure about should be left for others. -- Mrmatiko (talk) 09:20, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

- Improve it as much as you can, for example: copy editing, add some references, expand it, add stub templates, add relevant wikiproject templates to the talk page etc. If the page needs some attention beyond your abilities then tag it for further cleanup using one of the many cleanup templates. -- Mrmatiko (talk) 15:02, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Robotoki Logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:11, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

- Thanks but how do I make that happen when I enter the ~,~,~,~? Also how do I do a signature like yours where the second part of your name is the link to the talk page. I want 'TheIrishWarden' to link to my user and then 'Irish and Proud' to link to my talk page. Thanks Thєíríshwαrdєn - írísh αnd prσud (talk) 18:51, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

- I understand, could you make 'TheIrishWarden' part just orange with a white background. Also may I know the secret of how you made your text glow? Regards, Thєíríshwαrdєn - írísh αnd prσud 20:26, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

sure
Explanation of code
- background:#FFF is used to set the background of the image.
- font color="orange" will set the colour of the text.
- please read Wikipedia:Smurrayinchester's signature tutorial
- this site is quite helpful in choosing the colour that you want.
- to use glow you can tweak the code
"text-shadow:0px 0px .3em LightSkyBlue;"
You can change the colour of the glow and change the numberical values based on your likeness.
I have created a sample signature for you on User:TheIrishWarden/sandbox you can tweak it and then use it.--DBigXray 20:45, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- Hi thanks for that, also on my signature could you change the background from green to white. Thanks Thєíríshwαrdєn - írísh αnd prσud 20:51, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, remember you will not be able to see a white glow or a white background on this talk page which is white in colour so choose green or any o ther colour that will be visible as the glow colour on white background.--DBigXray 20:54, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- Would you mind changing the green background to white on 'TheirishWarden' of the signature. So I would have orange text and a white background. Thєíríshwαrdєn - írísh αnd prσud 20:57, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- Please check out Wikipedia:Smurrayinchester's signature tutorial for explanation and then please see User:TheIrishWarden/sandbox is this what you were looking for ? IF you like the signature then you need to copy that into the signature box at Special:Preferences and select the option "Treat signature as wikitext (without an automatic link)" and save. the latter part is important, only then your sign will change. --DBigXray 21:01, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

hey,
To display your signature in a different color for yourself only, add the following to Special:MyPage/common.css, .....
— WP:SIG
Did you notice the bold text ? To display your signature in a different color for yourself only . I guess this is the cause of above confusion. :) I will suggest you to blank your Special:MyPage/common.css and then work on your sign. cheers--DBigXray 21:09, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
- Carry on with your sign, I am off to sleep. Good Night TheIrishWarden--DBigXray 21:17, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello TheIrishWarden! Please do not forget to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Adding a well formatted references is very easy to do.
- While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite" click on it
- Then click on "templates",
- Choose the most appropriate template and fill as many details as you can,
This will add a well formatted reference that would be helpful in case the website link (web URL) becomes inactive (dead/link rot) after some time. You can read more about it on Help:Edit toolbar or see this video File:RefTools.ogv. thanks and regards --DBigXray 20:31, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Boatstrand Harbour.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Boatstrand Harbour.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. SuperMarioMan 22:29, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
