Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Hello Tanet, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alf 14:17, 27 August 2005 (UTC).[reply]

Timothy Leary

[edit]

I notice your picture had no 'tag', this is a copyright issue, but in this case, it's nice and easy as it's an album cover, I've edited Image:Leary.jpg with the right tag. Some of the above may be useful. I'll look at formatting TL in a mo' so the picture fits better. Alf 14:17, 27 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

There, it's done, have another look at Timothy Leary and tell me if it's not really how you wanted it. Alf 14:22, 27 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
An image or media file you uploaded, Image:Index clip image002 0000.gif, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Unfortunately, machine translating into English is no good. There was still a lot of Italian, and the English was unreadable. --Adam (talk) 13:40, 17 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mbk_booster_spirit.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 14:08, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

Please stop uploading images without acceptabel copyright information. Please familiarise yourself with Wikipedia:Image use policy before uploading more images. In general wikipedai can accept any image uploaded under a free license as long as the source and license are clearly stated. To use images that are copyrighted under a non-free license (eg. most images from other websites), you have to be able to claim fair use. Almost all of your image uploads have been marked to be deleted. Please ask me if you have any questions. --Martyman-(talk) 02:46, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging for Image:ASVarese1968.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ASVarese1968.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

Your edits to Project MKULTRA

[edit]

I'm wondering if you could elaborate more on this edit. I don't recall connections to MKULTRA in any other these films. I removed them, but feel free to add them back with more information. Wyatt Riot 06:27, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove warnings on your Talk page

[edit]

You have removed several user warnings from your user or user talk page. These warnings are not put on your talk page to annoy you; they were placed here because other editors have noticed an issue with your behaviour that may require improvement. They are a method of communication and user talk pages stand as a record of communication with you. If you do not believe the warning was valid or have a question about improving your behaviour you can respond here or visit the help desk. If your talk page is becoming long, you can archive it in accordance with the guidelines laid out here How to archive a talk page. Thank you.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Logo astore.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo astore.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:Associazione Sportiva Asiago Hockey.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Associazione Sportiva Asiago Hockey.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading Image:Associazione Sportiva Asiago Hockey.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 08:53, 16 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Non-free use disputed for Image:Logo benetton.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo benetton.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:31, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Ostinato (band), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Ostinato (band) is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Ostinato (band), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Logo aigle.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo aigle.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:21, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lega basket.jpeg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:As varese.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:As varese.jpg.

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:48, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Hi Tanet!
We thank you for uploading Image:Marquee club.jpg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

I moved Image:Marquee club.jpg to Wikimedia Commons

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Marquee club.jpg. I have moved the image to the Wikimedia Commons with a new name at commons:Image:Marquee Club August 2007.jpg so that the image can be used in the French Wikipedia, the German Wikipedia, and so on. I have also edited Marquee Club so that it uses the new name for the image. -- Eastmain (talk) 17:51, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Ecole Supérieure de Réalisation Audiovisuelle. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. I see that you created this category and later blanked the page. A faster way to delete a category you've created yourself is to place {{db-author}} on the page. This tag attracts the attention of an administrator who can perform the deletion for you. Contact me if you have questions about this. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Tanet! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 106 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. David Tukiçi - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

The article Euro Ice Hockey Challenge has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability. No sources given, and web source produced only the organization's own site, blog and forum posts, Wikipedia, pages of statistics, etc etc.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Daturah requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:14, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Furthur Inside.jpeg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Furthur Inside.jpeg. Please do not mark substantial additions of text as minor

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions. Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Rhodes piano, as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. –Henning Makholm (talk) 23:36, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mario Lanza discography

[edit]

I agree that the page is a good idea given Mario Lanza's large body of work, but I wonder if you are aware of the common English-language meaning of "country music". The term in English means "cowboy music" or sometimes "southern US music" - think Hank Williams or Willie Nelson. It wouldn't ever be used to describe Lanza's usual genres.

Thanks for creating the page! --NellieBly (talk) 02:23, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Attribution requirements for translations

[edit]

Hi, Kiwi. :) I've straightened out the confusion at Manuscript London but needed to let you know that content on Wikipedia projects is not public domain; it's actually copyrighted, and while we can use it very freely, we do have to provide "attribution" to comply with the license.

This is pretty easy to do when translating or copying content internally. You just need to link to the source article in your edit summary (not sure if you're familiar with those, since I don't see any in your last 500 edits) and generally put a note on the talk page of what you've done. While easy, this is important, since otherwise your use of somebody else's content is a violation of wmf:Terms of Use as well as an infringement on their copyright. You can read more about how this is done and why at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

By the way, I noticed above that somebody warned you not to remove "warnings" from your talk page. This is not a rule here and in fact the template they left for you telling you so was speedily deleted soon after it was given to you. The person who left you the note probably didn't realize it, but the community had already rejected that rule. You can clean your talk page as much as you want. Archival is preferred, but content you remove is visible in your history, so it's okay. You can see confirmation of this at WP:OWNTALK.

If you have any questions about this or about attributing translated material, please let me know. If you respond here, please add [[User:Moonriddengirl]] to your note to help make sure I see it. :) Thanks! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:02, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Grzegorz Adam Urbanowski. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, Tanet.

I told you above how to attribute when you translate from other languages. You must do this - it's not optional. If you don't, you are in violation of the copyright of the people who wrote the original content.

Wikipedia is required to block people who repeatedly violate copyright after warning. I will provide again the attribution for Grzegorz Adam Urbanowski, but you must not continue doing this. It is necessary under our policies and our Terms of Use. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:10, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tanet, and thank you for your contributions!

Some text in an article that you worked on El Hadj Menouar, appears to be directly copied from another Wikipedia article, Khelifa Belkacem. Please take a minute to double-check that you've properly attributed the source text in your edit summary.

It's entirely possible that this bot made a mistake, so please feel free to remove this notice and the tag it placed on El Hadj Menouar at any time. MadmanBot (talk) 23:02, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Cosenza1914.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Cosenza1914.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Slimane Azem requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. The article Hadj Bouchiba has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to The Shining (film), but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, and ideas—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 14:06, 13 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the categories need to be sourced, see WP:BLP, WP:V, WP:RS... GiantSnowman 16:00, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The only source about Platini's Italian heritage is here - where does it contain the specific details you are claiming, a quick read via Google Translate does not support the claims. GiantSnowman 16:40, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
"Il nonno Francesco, origini novaresi di Agrate Conturbia, era muratore e si trasferì a Joeuf, Lorena, dove rilevò la licenza del "Cafè des Sportif"." Maybe you should learn Italian before making too many assumptions and don't rely only on Google Translate. --Kiwi (talk) 16:47, 25 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

- If you continue to add unsourced categories to articles you will be blocked from editing. GiantSnowman 17:40, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@GiantSnowman: the source is "Wallace, George M. (1948). Joseph Francis Sartori 1858-1946. Los Angeles, California: Ward Ritchie Press." have you read the book by any chance? and for Soriano I'm going to add it right now... you should wait a while. This is too arbitrary and it's going nowhere. --Kiwi (talk) 17:45, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's very simple - you include the source before you add the information (or at the same time) - never afterwards. GiantSnowman 17:55, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman: For Soriano's brother should I add another source or the fact that they are linked suffice? --Kiwi (talk) 18:11, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Another source please - WP:WIKIPEDIAISNOTARELIABLESOURCE. GiantSnowman 18:55, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Eveno

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Eveno requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
  • disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Magnum Band requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Helpful contribution

[edit]

Hi User:Tanet, could you make a contribution to Maiorana page please? That the name is Norman French in origin, this source Della Calabria illustrata says something like: the name changed from Marogana (or Marogano) to the more easily pronounceable Maiorana (or Maiorano), possibly influenced by folk etymology (page 326). On that page the book also states that the fleur-de-lis in the coat of arms of the family also indicates a Norman origin. I just don't do edits on that scale, because more than likely no one will edit the page for many months, leaving my mistakes (that become Wikipedia's mistakes) on show. You'd just have to change categories to Norman and "Maiorana is an Italian surname" to "Maiorana is a Norman French surname" Hope you can help, thanks.--Theo Mandela (talk) 17:30, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It seemed undue to me. We never add a surname's origin to someone's article. We sometimes create pages about specific surnames if several people share it. See WP:Anthroponymy. Thank you.Zigzig20s (talk) 12:02, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Efail Isaf

[edit]

Do you have a source for your toponomy of Efail Isaf?

  • It seems unlikely that efial would turn to efail.
  • efial does not appear in the University of Wales dictionary (neither does gefial).
  • There is a perfectly good word efail (lenition of gefail, forge or smithy) which would seem a more likely origin.
  • isaf can also (and often does) mean "lower" rather than "lowest".----Ehrenkater (talk) 15:01, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Varese calcio.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Varese calcio.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Furbesco moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Furbesco, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. Currently, the only source is not about the article's subject, and without that, it is totally unsourced. Additionally, the single external link is a bad link.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. A tag has been placed on Category:France migration templates requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Query

[edit]

Dear @Tanet, I was wondering if you, a notable and proficient user, might take a look at this dilemma for me. I wished to add section titles on the article Roberto Firmino, as is done on many other articles such as Mohamed Salah and Steven Gerrard ( I feel that the article is lacking such titles). However, a user called GiantSnowman did not like this idea or agree with me and subsequently reverted many of my edits, many times. Thus, I was wondering if you might provide your own opinion on this matter (the full conversation can be found here: Talk:Roberto Firmino#Opinion), and perhaps reply back to me with your thoughts, if you have the time?

Warm wishes,

From Scientelensia (talk) 18:05, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Guillaume Apollinaire, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ladin.
