Question from Verilycanfly (13:25, 25 January 2025)

[edit]

how do I edit wikipedia articles? --Verilycanfly (talk) 13:25, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Verilycanfly: Hi, I am A09, a friend of Tails. You might have noticed Tails is currently absent so here I am answering questions per his private request. Probably the most appropriate page that'd resolve your problem is Help:Introduction. If you have any specific queries regarding your editing, I am more than happy to answer them for you. Sorry for a prolonged wait. Best regards, A09|(talk) 22:54, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Scottsdesk (08:54, 30 January 2025)

[edit]

Hello is there a way to contact the creator of Wikipedia? --Scottsdesk (talk) 08:54, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Scottsdesk: Hi, I am A09, a friend of Tails. You might have noticed Tails is currently absent so here I am answering questions per his private request. Creator of Wikipedia is Jimbo Wales and could be contacted on Jimbo Wales, however other more appropriate venues exist for problems like articles content – their talkpages – or for problems with users there are user talkpages. If you could describe your problem some more, I think I'll be able to help you out more specifically. Best regards, A09|(talk) 22:53, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from GuiltySaviour (00:33, 8 February 2025)

[edit]

Hi there, I made this account to update the "Battles in Time" page which was a Dr Who partworks. I have also tried to add information about the site using my website. Due to it being pretty much the only backed-up source online (as I scanned everything on), there is not much available online. Every time I attempt to make an edit it gets reverted. There are currently only four references on there, 1 of which is credible, and the rest of the article is entirely unreferenced. Any help would be amazing; however, if I am unable due to owning the website, I'll take it on the chin and delete the account. All the best, James --GuiltySaviour (talk) 00:33, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@GuiltySaviour: Hi, I am A09, a friend of Tails. You might have noticed Tails is currently absent so here I am answering questions per his private request. It seems like the problem already got resolved, however I'd like to make a remark that you cannot delete an account due to licensing reasons, however you can vanish it if you'd like to – see meta:Account vanishing. Wikipedia:Notability of individual tornadoes

[edit]

Hi Tails! Following a (low-participation) RfC at Wikiproject Weather's talk page on the notability of individual tornadoes two months ago, I've went ahead and started Wikipedia:Notability of individual tornadoes, a policy about the notability of articles on singular tornadoes. How does it look? Is it worded clearly and easy-to-read? I've tried to remain neutral throughout, but seeing as the RfC only got two other participants (but unanimous support!) I'm going around and asking some other members of the Weather project for some more opinions. Thanks, and as always, feel free to open another RfC if you feel a wider discussion is needed. :) — EF5 16:35, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2025 March newsletter

[edit]

The first round of the 2025 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As a reminder, we are no longer disqualifying the lowest-scoring contestants; everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned from Wikipedia. Instead, the contestants with the highest round-point totals now receive tournament points at the end of each round. Unlike the round points in the main WikiCup table, which are reset at the end of each round, tournament points are carried over between rounds and can only be earned if a competitor is among the top 16 round-point scorers. This table shows all competitors who have received tournament points so far.

Round 1 was very competitive compared with previous years; two contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 500 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:

The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 18 featured articles, 26 featured lists, 1 featured-topic article, 197 good articles, 38 good-topic articles and more than 100 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 23 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 550 reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2, which begins on 1 March. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Question from CheesyScull (02:57, 28 February 2025)

Hey! I was reading the article on Moclobemide and I was wondering how can I go about removing "promotional content" from the article? Thank you for your time --CheesyScull (talk) 02:57, 28 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@CheesyScull: Hi, I am A09, a friend of Tails. You might have noticed Tails is currently absent so here I am answering questions per his private request. I suggest reading WP:PROMO, WP:TONE, and finally WP:WEASEL, which all describe what to remove (or what to avoid when doing content creation). I am not that well versed in medicine related topics, so if any complex questions appear, I suggest contacting people at WT:WPMED or directly raise those on the article talkpage. Sorry for a prolonged waiting. Best regards, A09|(talk) 23:00, 4 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
