A tag has been placed on Stewart Jones, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company or website, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable. If you can indicate why Stewart Jones is really notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly, and also put a note on Talk:Stewart Jones. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. You might also want to read our general biography criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that admins should wait a while for you to assert his/her/their notability, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and then immediately add such an assertion. It is also a very good idea to add citations from reliable sources to ensure that your article will be verifiable. -- Malpertuis 19:18, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Will stannage.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Will stannage.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:09, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Adding flags

[edit]

I'm not sure about this new thing with flags in infoboxes. Although the flags just denote the birthplace, it does tend to stick out and appear as a claim of nationality. WP footballer articles already see a large amount of nationalism-related vandalism - nationalities being changed by partisans of one side or another - so I'm not sure about this. More on adding flags to infoboxes

[edit]

Hi, I've reverted the edits you made to Mark Cooper as the flags by the clubs put's the box totally out of sync (on explorer anyway). Can I suggest that you don't add these flags? WikiGull 12:16, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well does it really matter what you suggest your going to go ahead and remove them anyway so who gives a fuck what i think me old sausageStew jones 21:10, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Don't really think there was any need for that. Fair enough if you didn't know that it was screwing up the infoboxes, I thought I'd point it out and corrected them for you. No need to get all insulting about it. WikiGull 13:57, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Etienne Barbara

[edit]

I will not discuss if the article was fairly or not under deletion, I will assume that you have the right that it is notable article. However your action to remove it from deletion was considered vandalism. The note was writing Please improve the article if possible, but the article must not be blanked, and this notice must not be removed, until the discussion is closed. For more information, particularly on merging or moving the article during the discussion, read the guide to deletion. So you should have respect as rules and since you are not an administrator and 5 days deadline didn't pass, your action was considered vandalism and I have already said that to administrator. Do not remove AFD notices

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with Etienne Barbara. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. — ERcheck (talk) 11:21, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewing the afd discussion, it is likely that this article will be kept. However, the discussion has not yet been officially closed. Please do not delete the afd notice until that time; also, do not add the deletion closed notice to the talk page until that time. As a matter of process, I restored that afd tag; and since I was approached by the nominator concerning the process, I'm recusing myself from speedy closing the nomination. — ERcheck (talk) 11:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, seeing you have been involved in previous Afd debates on the subject I invite you to contribute to this discussion to clarify certain issues about football player notability. I think clearer guidelines are needed to avoid repeated inappropriate nominations for deletion and time consuming discussions. Cheers! StephP 20:47, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

May be deleted. `'юзырь:mikka 05:45, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What a joke, this player has played league football all his career and some clown has now deleted it off, what kind of rules has this been deleted under then? "May be deleted" seems a bit of a poor excuse to me personally, fancy giving me some information as to why this has been deleted then guys? Stew jones 17:07, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you click the redlink, you should be able to view the deletion log, which shows the admin who deleted the page and the deletion summary, in this case "A7"--which is explained at WP:CSD#A7. Hope that helps. NickelShoe (Talk) 00:52, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Trevor Templeman, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free image (Image:JamiePace.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:JamiePace.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 23:56, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Anthony Robinson (footballer), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

non-notable, has never made the requisite appearances in the Football League under notability guidelines for football players

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ref (chew)(do) 23:07, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seasons format

[edit]

Please could you stop changing the correct format of football seasons to the incorrect format. The standard for English football articles is to include the endash (as per WP:DASH), and to link it to the article for that season (e.g. 2007–08). Cheers. --Jameboy 21:55, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ludovic Quistin

[edit]

Whoever deleted him before was wrong to do so, but hiding him won't help - the thing to do is be vigilant; if a speedy tag is added, contested it, if he is prodded, remove it, and if it goes to AfD, WP:FOOTY should see him survive. If he does get deleted, WP:DRV can get him back. ArtVandelay13 21:03, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok cheers if I do see anyone put a deletion tag on this I will let you know so we can contest it Stew jones 21:05, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Having looked into it, I see he was deleted a few months ago, before he was an international, and at that time he won't have passed WP:BIO. Now he does, so there should be no danger of him being deleted. ArtVandelay13 21:06, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well in all honesty, we did make his profile before he was an international and fair enough it was deleted fairly quickly, but after he did get his call up and his first cap we made him again, but again he was deleted, but like you say we will need to see what happens and wait to see if anyone does fancy disagreeing again Stew jones 21:09, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding flags back into the infobox for this article. It's bad practise to do so as the images distort the infobox for many users. See WP:FLAGCRUFT. If you check Template talk:Infobox Football biography#Flags you'll see that there is no consensus for the introduction of flags to this infobox, so discuss there first before continuing. robwingfield «TC» 21:39, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick question, who are you? Me and my collague made this article, took time getting all the information etc and have done it the same as every other profile we have made and I believe that you have no place to come here giving me the 3rd degree on how to make these articles, many have flags included and the no free image picture, so leave the article to me and my collague Stew jones 17:02, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not assume ownership of articles such as Ludovic Quistin. If you aren't willing to allow your contributions to be edited extensively or be redistributed by others, please do not submit them. Thank you. robwingfield «TC» 22:08, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oi what right have you got to delete a perfectly good article??? this is a disgrace!!! Stew jones 23:15, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've not deleted anything. I don't have that ability. robwingfield «TC» 11:23, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've added this article to Deletion Review: Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2007_October_2#Ludovic_Quistin. You might want to add your thoughts. ArtVandelay13 15:44, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Again, please stop altering the formatting of this article away from the Manual of Style. If you disagree with the MoS, then discuss there, but unilaterally changing articles is not the way to go about it. robwingfield «TC» 23:00, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry I will continue to undo your useless changes, I have looked at the Manual of Style, and then I have looked at many other articles of footballers profiles and I will continue to make them as this one has made. Stew jones 23:04, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cameron Belford

[edit]

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Cameron Belford, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. robwingfield «TC» 01:59, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Attitude

[edit]

You need to work on your attitude, pal. Your smug, snide remarks will earn you no favours around here. - PeeJay 23:01, 12 October 2007 (UTC) Listen son I don't have any problem with my attitude, but I lose my cool when people turn up changing my work and deleting perfectly good articles that I have taken the time to put together Stew jones 11:26, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please to not threaten Dancarney, or any user, about what articles they can and can not edit. Mattythewhite 13:09, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll add them back if you want. My revert was mostly due to the removal of the 'as of..' and reference. Mattythewhite 13:10, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am not threatening anyone but why when I do something does everyone turn up and start taking things off that I have done, I really can't understand it Stew jones 13:11, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well in all honesty I don't see what problem they pose, thats why it winds me up Stew jones 13:14, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question totally off the subject, there is an article on Bury goalkeeper Cameron Belford who to date hasn't played a league game, but plays for a league team, they also have another player called Ben Leonard who is in exactly the same situation, but his article was deleted, how can we get it to be reinstated? Stew jones 13:17, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Really, Belford should be deleted as he hasn't played a game in a professional league, going by WP:BIO. Mattythewhite 13:24, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah but the talk went on for ages and then it was decided that the article should remain, which if this is the case so should Ben Leonard. Stew jones 13:48, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Breath a sigh of Relief

[edit]

You'll be glad to hear Mattythewhite has finally finished ripping up your hard work, and has now moved on to ripping up my hard work and trying to delete my articles on the Hinckley United page. Honestly, I swear some of the people that appoint themselves Wikiheroes have never been out of a Premiership ground. It's like talking to a Little Britain character and every reply is Wiki says No! Can you believe he's even trying to rip up the Matt Gadsby section of the article? I know it's not really your problem, but I thought I'd just rant to someone who knows what it feels like to be patronised by the Wikielect and their decisions over what is and isn't allowed on a website created and designed to provide never ending resource of information. Apparently it does have an end, it is ended by the word notability... Rant over DJhinckley (talk) 19:58, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I totally agree with you, I have noticed how much hard work you have spent updating the Hinckley United page, it really pisses me off too, I swear some of these people really have nothing better to do. Stew jones (talk) 20:41, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And I don't do hard work here two? Four GA's, one FA and four FL's, and you have the nerve to say I don't "have anything better to do"? Good grief. Thank god I don't do all of this work for you people. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:45, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Put it like this, you do the same as everyone else you add valuable information but I really can't understand the concept of you prowling wikipedia and looking for work to delete off, if anything I would believe that the more information the better, surely. Stew jones (talk) 20:52, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's a bit of a bitch, isn't it, articles being deleted and stuff. Quite a depressing side of Wikipedia really. There needs to be a cut-off point somewhere with footballers, and it's horrible really where it is and the reasoning behind it. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:02, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well I really think that players who score important goals in FA Cup ties that knock out or draw with League teams deserve a mention Neil Cartwright, Kyle Storer who scored the winning goal for Tamworth against Bournemouth and scored in a live 3rd round FA Cup tie against Norwich City which was live on BBC 1 and Matt Tubbs at Salisbury City scored in both ties against Nottingham Forest and that was also seen live across the country on BBC, but then they say these players ain't notable? Stew jones (talk) 21:25, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, you shouldn't really think of people as "they". We're all in this together, as a whole project, even though at times everyone gets that feeling they're on their own. Anyway, you should probably have a look at this, where new criteria is being proposed. Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 21:50, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:MqabbaFC.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:MqabbaFC.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, you may not know that Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did to Nick Wright (footballer born 1987), makes it harder to read. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Malta.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Malta.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:35, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've reverted your edits on this picture, since removing the whole tag (as explained on the tag itself) is not the correct way to deal with it, but merely an action which is against our policy. If you think the picture can be accepted as fair use please explain us why. Keep in mind non-free pictures of living people fail the first non-free content criteria (as a free equivalent can be reasonably found). Thank you. --Angelo (talk) 21:21, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bolehall swifts.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Thanks for uploading Image:Tarxien Rainbows FC.gif.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Walsall FC.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Walsall FC.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:56, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Articles proposed for deletion

[edit]

Hiya. I've seen that you've opposed deletion of a couple of articles. Unfortunately they weren't in the right place, as the articles were only proposed for deletion as a WP:PROD. To oppose this, all you need to do is remove the prod templates (but it helps if you say why it shouldn't be deleted at least in the edit summary). I've gone ahead and removed the prod templates from those articles you appear to object to at the bottom of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2009 June 8. However, jimbo online appears to have prodded other articles as well, that you may not want lost. I recommend that you review the ones he has listed to see if that is the case. Thanks. Quantpole (talk) 11:13, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I've undone the edit that you made to this, as it broke the page somewhat. What were you trying to do, perhaps I can help? GedUK  11:57, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah sorry about that, I had a number of articles up for deletion, which I believe don't deserve to be, and I was hoping to list them all, in order to stop them from been deleted Stew jones (talk) 18:24, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

PRODs

[edit]

Please stop adding the PRODed articles to the AfD, they were not part of the original AfD of the nominated articles. They are only PRODs. If you want to nominate them for a new AfD use the AfD guidelines provided. --Jimbo[online] 21:45, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alright big man chill out, I am trying in vain to get these things taken off my articles I have worked extremely hard on Stew jones (talk) 21:52, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You can remove them yourself as they're only PRODs. See WP:PROD. Although the non-notable ones will probably get listed for AfD later on if contested. --Jimbo[online] 21:57, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What's too complicated about the above you don't understand? --Jimbo[online] 22:00, 8 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well they probably will, if you have got anything to do with it, but I am trying in vain to get people on side in order to keep a website (know for it's information) full of useful information for the people to view, I have no idea why you are one of these types desperate to kill off other peoples hard work, but generally the majority of people on here want to improve coverage not get rid of useful articles, so hopefully they will side with me, and will me on to continue working hard to help the website get even more useful articles, for the public to view. The articles on Michael Galea and Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza have been restored by the deleting admins on my request. Do you have any sources saying that they have played in full internationals, rather than in under-21s? A tag has been placed on Maksims Daņilovs, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Article restorations

[edit]

Hi, just a quick note - it's probably best to either ask an admin directly (deleting admin) or ask at WP:FOOTY to restore an article, rather than on an old AfD. Also it'd be helpful to cite a reliable source providing proof. I've posted a message at WT:FOOTY asking for Edward Herrera to be restored. Thanks, --Jimbo[online] 21:47, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on David Cluett requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 88 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Iro Curmi (footballer born 1963)

[edit]

Hi Stew jones, just to let you know I've moved this page to Iro Curmi per Wikipedia's policy on article titles as no disambiguation is needed here. Thanks, Jeffrey Mall (talkcontribs) - 15:00, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But there is a younger player with the same name who plays for Msida Saint-Joseph. Stew jones (talk) 15:02, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I do apologise as I thought the articles were referring to the same person, seeing as how this is the case I've tagged the redirect "Iro Curmi" for deletion to prevent confusion. Regards, Jeffrey Mall (talkcontribs) - 15:14, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ok cheers, unless it is changed so if you click on Iro Curmi it gives you the option of either? Stew jones (talk) 15:22, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It really depends, is there an article for the other Iro Curmi? If there isn't it would be fairly redundant having a dab page in which one of the 2 articles listed is a red link. Jeffrey Mall (talkcontribs) - 15:33, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Currently not it would be redlinked Stew jones (talk) 15:57, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of Atherstone Town F.C. managers. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Atherstone Town F.C. managers. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:47, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jason Bradley, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:25, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Stuart Hendrie. Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. GiantSnowman 16:45, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How can you prove he was born in 1989 then, there isn't a reference to prove this neither, I know for a fact this is his date of birth as I know him personally, so I know the information is correct!! Your best bet is to concentrate on things that are more important than this Stew jones (talk) 17:12, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a reference which confirms he was born in 1989 - but not which date. Saying "I know this guy" isn't a valid reference, not even nearly - sorry. Please stop adding unreferenced information to this article or I'll be forced to ask an admin to intervene. GiantSnowman 17:32, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh big man, check the reference now, unlucky, go and try and ruin somebody elses hard work instead!!! Stew jones (talk) 17:57, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please remain civil; many thanks for adding a reference, even if it was at the third time of asking! GiantSnowman 20:49, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Chris Smith

[edit]

Hi, I'm in the process of expdanding the Chris Smith (footballer born 1981) article and wondered if you'd be able to re-upload this image you took of him? Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 19:11, 17 March 2011 (UTC).[reply]

I don't think I have got this picture anymore, can't you use the one you have listed though? Stew jones (talk) 19:18, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've had a go at trying it using the preview function on the Smith article but it won't seem to come up with anything. Although, I think it would be okay if you right click on the image, save it and use it that way. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 21:44, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion

[edit]

Hi. The article Marsaxlokk F.C. season 2008–09 which you started has been proposed for deletion, basically for failing WP:GNG through lack of sources. (The similar article Senglea Athletic F.C. season 2009-10 was deleted after a discussion at WikiProject Football.) If you can find sources to support its notability, feel free to add them and remove the tag.

On a somewhat related issue, why exactly does Marsaxlokk F.C. seasons start at 1997 and miss out their earlier history? It's not like you don't know about it (nice article by the way). Alzarian16 (talk) 15:38, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No I couldn't care less, you go on and delete it son, seems like that little power trip might get you through the day, after all I only spent hours of my life making the page! Stew jones (talk) 16:33, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to Liam Walker. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:27, 23 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah your right I have been on here for seven years, working hard to keep things up to date, I changed this persons full name to Liam Walker, are you now telling me his name isn't Liam Walker? Stew jones (talk) 19:03, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

But without a source how do we know he doesn't have a middle name? Unless we know for certain his full name isn't just 'Liam Walker' it is best left blank. Mattythewhite (talk) 08:32, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well I don't know if he has a middle name, but can guarantee that his name is Liam Walker, so I don't see the problem, but obviously you are some kind of extremely important figurehead on here as you overrule things that others do Stew jones (talk) 22:13, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely no doubt his name is Liam Walker, but unless we know his full name we would be potentially giving readers misinformation by having Liam Walker in the full name section of the infobox, as really it might not be his full name, and most importantly it isn't verified. Shame you feel that way, but all I can do is try and explain why I undid your edit. Mattythewhite (talk) 12:47, 27 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

References and spaces

[edit]

Hi, there is no need for spaces between punctuation and referneces; they should go immediately after the punctuation. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:22, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Or you could say there is no need not for the space, I personally think it looks better, and I guess that is all that matters. Stew jones (talk) 09:06, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a reason that you have basically reverted all the hard work and effort I did yesterday on the article Dan Preston? Stew jones (talk) 09:33, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

From looking at the article edit history, I reverted you by amending the infobox layout (so it follows layout at Template:Infobox football biography#Usage), by readding his nickname, by removing the POB from the opening brackets (per WP:OPENPARA) and reinstating the content you removed from the lead. Mattythewhite (talk) 10:00, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Or you could just talk to me in English. Stew jones (talk) 10:14, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Polesworth F.C. has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not pass WP:GNG or WP:FOOTYN as the team has not played at level 10 or in the FA Vase or FA Cup.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of Polesworth F.C. for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Polesworth F.C. is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Polesworth F.C. until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Delsion23 (talk) 00:16, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Lotfi Saïdi has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Article creations

[edit]

You have a long history of creating non-notable articles. Today, you have created a further two - Elliott Durrell and Anthony Breslin. Neither player is notable per GNG (no significant coverage) or NFOOTBALL, as Durrell has only played for Macclesfield in the FA Cup against a non-league team/in FLT against youth team, and Breslin has only played in the FLT for a youth team. Neither is sufficient. If you continue to create articles about non-notable footballers then I will seek a topic ban. GiantSnowman 13:35, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

‘’’Keep’’’ I’d love to meet you in person, you just literally track all my work on here and try and delete it, have you got anything better to do? all three articles have played games in a professional competition, the EFL Trophy Stew jones (talk) 14:40, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, that's not sufficient. If you don't understand that then I'll seek a topic ban as soon as these AFDs are over. PS we still know it was you editing from an IP... GiantSnowman 14:59, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP:DUCK, and your quasi-admission above. Thanks! GiantSnowman 16:44, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I’m telling you now if these articles get deleted I’m deleting my own login and not bothering with wikipedia again, I have been doing edits on here for a number of years, and just try to go about my business quietly, I’m not one of these big shots, trying to prove how worthy I am, with my administration tag. Your argument basically contradicts itself, in the example of Elliott Durrell, he played for Macclesfield Town, who last time I checked are a professional Football League Two side, and the appearance was made in the EFL Trophy, the clue is in the name English Football League, but your saying because West Bromwich Albion listed themselves as U21, that means they are not professional, although that particular U21 team fielded 37 year old Gareth Barry and 36 year old Boaz Myhill, it’s incredibly petty the argument you are raising, as there are other articles on here where players have literally only made an EFL Trophy appearance, yet they are not up for deletion Stew jones (talk) 18:36, 14 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If there are other players in a similar position - ie only played in FLT for or against U21 team - then let me know and I'll seek deletion. Bear in mind WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. GiantSnowman 11:11, 15 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Squad lists

[edit]

Hi Stew. Please could you stop adding squad lists to non-League club articles. They are rarely updated, and so end up out-of-date very quickly. I've come across some that hadn't been updated for four or five years. Thanks, Number 57 22:48, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well I am trying to update them in particular in the Southern League Premier Central, which is the league I watch regularly. Stew jones (talk) 22:54, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's really not a good idea; squads at this level change almost on a weekly basis and it's unrealistic to think that a single editor can keep them all updated (as no-one else is likely to). Number 57 22:57, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate what you are saying, that is why I have put a date on each recent one I have done, and regularly look at the official website of the league and am checking what transfers have gone though, I have also been updating the article of the players for the clubs in this league. I am just trying to improve things. Stew jones (talk) 23:02, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think there are far better ways to improve the articles than adding a squad list that is going to need (and almost certainly not get) constant attention. For instance, you could hugely expand the history section of Alvechurch F.C. and add some more references so that the tag can be removed. Most of the articles you're adding them to are a bit of a mess. Number 57 23:07, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Okay that's fair enough, so basically you disagree, so you will just delete all my contributions, its so frustrating on here, I reference everything, I try my best, and someone just has an opinion, and that's it, your work is deleted, simple as that. Stew jones (talk) 23:18, 24 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

With regards to your repeated attempts to change the Barwell F.C. squad list layout, please have some respect for WP:BRD and discuss on talk if you wish to change the established format rather than reinstating your changes again and again. Cheers, Number 57 11:35, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Non-existent categories

[edit]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Category:Peterborough Sports F.C. players, please make sure that the category page actually exists. In some cases, it may be appropriate to create a new category in accordance with Wikipedia's categorization guidelines, but it is usually better to use the most specific available existing category. It is never appropriate to leave a page categorised in a non-existent category, i.e. one whose link displays in red. You may find it helpful to use the gadget HotCat, which tests whether a category exists before saving a change. Thank you. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:07, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Reverts

[edit]

Per our previous discussion on the matter, I do not believe adding squadlists to the articles is useful as they are likely to become out of date quickly and are unlikely to be properly maintained.

Regarding your comments in the edit summaries, "hard work" is not a rationale for retaining things on Wikipedia – if it was, then nothing would ever be deleted at WP:AfD.

Contrary to your claims, I have zero problem with you improving articles if you were doing it by expanding history sections, adding references etc. However, I do not believe you adding squadlists is an improvement.

Finally, when an edit you make is reverted, you are expected to gain consensus for redoing it – see WP:BRD. Blindly reverting and reinstating unsourced information as you did at Peterborough Sports F.C. is extremely unhelpful. Number 57 12:23, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You seem to be the only person that has an issue with this, if I add a squad list, why do you think it is purely down to you to delete it off as you believe it will become outdated quickly, what have you got to back that up? Other than theory, I got Peterborough Sports stadium capacity off the page 2019–20 Southern Football League, which is also unreferenced, so why don’t you delete all that information too? You are basically just looking at all my edits, and just deleting what doesn’t sit right with you. Skippo10 (talk) 12:40, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In terms of what I've got to back it up: Years of watching/editing non-league articles – I've come across squadlists that were 3, 4 and even 5 years out of date. Thanks for highlighting the unsourced capacity though, I've deleted it from there too – it's one of the perennial problems with non-league club articles.
And just to be clear, this is nothing personally against you. I regularly remove squadlists from other articles – see this, this or this when they appeared on my watchlist. Number 57 12:58, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You can clearly see I obviously take a big interest in the Southern League Premier Division Central, I always reference the squad lists I add and also add a date that it was updated. So I don’t get why this is a problem to you personally? Skippo10 (talk) 13:11, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Because I am bothered about the long-term maintenance of these articles, hundreds of which are on my watchlist. I've seen numerous cases of editors adding squads in good faith, but failing to maintain them. In practice, it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to maintain numerous squads at this level given the frequency of transfers, dual registrations etc. There is also a serious issue that many clubs do not keep the squad lists on their website up-to-date (it seems to be especially a problem with clubs that use Pitchero sites), meaning that in many cases there are not really any reliable sources for these squads. Finally, given how few players at this level even have articles, I really don't see any significant benefit to the squadlists being present.
There are many ways in which non-league articles could be improved – hundreds have tags of some kind on them – removing them would be a far more productive use of your time on here IMO. Number 57 20:03, 11 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Number 57, why do you continue to try and find ways to stop me improving the articles relating to the Southern League Premier Central, taking away the Coalville Town, was ridiculous, you can clearly see their squad page is regularly updated, so your original argument is floored, but instead you just like to take away my hard work as some kind of power trip, if you want to go round taking away out of date work, why not concentrate on squad pages from the National League North, like A.F.C. Telford United, which hasn’t been updated for nearly two years, however you wouldn’t know that because for some bizarre reason you know nothing more than my edits because for some reason you follow me round bullying me for trying to improve articles Skippo10 (talk) 09:32, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Categorisation

[edit]

Hello, FYI the rules on red links are different for categories as opposed to articles. Per WP:REDNOT you should never leave a page with red links to a category - either delete the link or create the category. Different areas have different views on eponymous categories - the music people are quite anti them, sports editors tend to be more relaxed, but in general amateur teams tend not to get them (a good guide is whether their ground has its own article or not). So with something like Category:Coalville Town F.C. players, don't add a club category if it doesn't already exist, just add a {sports)people from (town) category instead.Le Deluge (talk) 14:02, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:F.B.C. Unione Venezia.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:F.B.C. Unione Venezia.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Updating club badges

[edit]

Hello Skippo. When you upload a new club badge, can you do it over the top of the old file (using the "Upload a new version of this file" function)? If you create a brand new file, this leaves the old one orphaned and technically in violation of copyright. Also, non-free images need to be a maximum of 100,000 pixels in size. The Coleshill Town one you uploaded is 930,600 pixels in size, so is also a copyright violation.

I've uploaded the new Coleshill badge (below 100,000 pixels in size) over the top of the old one and reinstated that to the article. Are you ok for me to delete the one you just uploaded? Cheers, Number 57 15:34, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Its nice of you to ask, you don't normally ask when you delete my work, but if that is the correct way then I'm fine with that, just trying to improve the Southern League as I have said previously. Skippo10 (talk) 17:17, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Non-League squads without numbering

[edit]

I am not sure if this is a new feature, but I just discovered it and thought it would be useful for your non-league squad updates. For leagues that don't use squad numbers, you can add nonumber=y to fs start, fs player and fs mid, and it removes the numbers column. See e.g. here. Cheers, Number 57 12:12, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah that is useful to know, I will bear in mind for future edits. I'm sure you can see and appreciate how much time I'm taking to keep these squads up to date, are we still in a position where if I add others at the same level with up to date squads, you will still remove? as with what happened on the Coalville Town page previously. I clearly think if I can add these squads and maintain them, as you can see I have been doing, it will improve the coverage of these clubs at the level. Skippo10 (talk) 13:47, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I still think it's a bad idea to have these squadlists for clubs below the Conference North/South due to the player turnover. I can't remember which club it was, but one used over 70 players last season; keeping more than a handful updated is a full-time job, as you'd have to monitor all their Twitter feeds (and even then, some don't really say when players leave); squadlists on club websites are not always kept up-to-date either.
Separately, the 'out of contract' sections you've left in some of these articles are also a concern, as they suggest the players are still at the club and are completely unsourced. Where are you getting this info from? Number 57 14:25, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There are 22 teams in the Southern League Premier Central, which is the league I follow and support a team in, so for me it wouldn't be a full time job, I follow all the twitter accounts, so am very confident that I would be accurate with the updates, or certainly accurate officially, I appreciate some clubs aren't very quick to update their squads, but then others are Coalville Town being one of these. I can guarantee I wont let these squad lists get out of hand. In regards to the out of contract players, as a rule I leave them on there as some sign straight away and others do eventually, but again following twitter tells me on occasion when a player has confirmed they have said they are leaving and I move them from those lists, or if they are announced by another club. Skippo10 (talk) 14:41, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, fair enough. Number 57 20:55, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But the 'out of contract' section is still problematic. Without being sourced, it seems to be your own original research. Please only include it if you can source the section. Number 57 08:57, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Its impossible to source really, I'll just delete them off instead, and just add players as they are announced. Skippo10 (talk) 21:28, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Aaron Xuereb requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". What are you doing?

[edit]

You've removed the lead on Alex Jones (footballer, born 1994) and Scott Burgess (footballer) and reverted me when I restored it. Explain yourself. How can someone spend so long editing Wikipedia and not know very basic means of style rules and conventions? How is "Alexander Richard Jones (born 28 September 1994) is an English footballer who most recently played for EFL League Two side Northampton Town, where he played as a forward" a summary of the article's important contents? "the lead should stand on its own as a concise overview of the article's topic". Everyone makes mistakes in editing but please think before you revert edits.--EchetusXe 17:37, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am more than happy to explain myself all the information in the lead is basically repeated in more detail later on in the article, what's the point, and if that is your only grievance, then why revert the whole article? What are you doing??? Skippo10 (talk) 23:03, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Original research / changing squad template format

[edit]

Your split of squads into "current" and "unregistered" appears to be OR. Please provide sources for this, or restore squads that match the sources used.

Also, please don't change to football squad 2 template – this is deprecated and supposed to be merged into the original template at some point. Could you please revert this change where you have made it too. Thanks, Number 57 16:49, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah no worries, I'll just leave you to update these squad lists then, I have this every year with you, the football squad 2 template wouldn't exist if it wasn't to be used, I really don't get what your problem is to be honest. Skippo10 (talk) 20:45, 30 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Providing an edit summary

[edit]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. As previously advised in may 2022, please read and comply with WP:OVERLINK - multiple links to the same article in the same section of another article is disruptive. GiantSnowman 08:58, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Repeatedly adding links to e.g. Southern Football League or Tamworth F.C. in the same section of a player bio. GiantSnowman 10:29, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Here is an example of what GS is referring to. With this edit, you added content to the Tamworth section of Eoin McKeown's article, which is fine, but you wikilinked Tamworth F.C. and Southern Football League three times each in the text you added, even though both were already wikilinked in that section of the player's article. There is no need to wikilink something every single time it is mentioned in the article. Only the first mention of something in an article should be wikilinked and any and all subsequent mentions should not be...... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 10:02, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your concern on this, and thanks for trying to get me blocked, I feel I add a lot to Wikipedia, really nice of you to essentially find ways to bully people who work hard editing and bringing articles up to date, but some admins like to flex their muscles don't they. Sorry about the irate comment in my edit. Good work with keeping the article up to date, just that Jones could potentially scored 30 goals this season at that level and the article would be out of control if every appearance and goal was described within. Depression

[edit]

I'm sure nobody will care, but behind every user, is a human being, since been blocked recently after editing Wikipedia for over 15 years, I have suffered deep depression, I'm bitterly disappointed that the decision was made by a number of admins who didn't really give me any guidance and just decided that blocking a user who whichever way you want to look at it has contributed massively to my chosen interests for a number of years, whilst fighting ultimately an uphill battle. Wikipedia must face a number of users trying to deface work on a daily basis, yet the best that could be done with me after having a few disagreements with users was to ban me indefinitely. I'm really struggling to come to terms with this as coming on here and editing my interests, mainly non league football and football in general really helped with my mental health, and to be honest bought an element of joy to my life. So thanks to ultimately the bullies who have ended that. In any other walk of life if someone needed guidance, people would generally help and gave them the guidance they needed. Thanks to you all for bringing me into a further depression and stopping me doing what I enjoyed :( Skippo10 (talk) 21:16, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am very sorry that you are feeling depressed about this. You could file an unban request that promises to scrupulously avoid all of the problematic behaviors that led to your ban, and taking full responsibility for your past errors. But continuing the accusations of bullying and blaming others is the wrong approach and will not be successful. Because yours is a community ban, your ban appeal would need to be copied over to WP:AN, or to the Arbitration Committee. Please be well. Cullen328 (talk) 21:28, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated, I can only say how I feel, I don't have the first clue how to challenge the block and wholeheartedly expect a proportion of the blame, as I didn't always conduct myself the best as I felt victimised at times, I am only saying how I felt, when the block came in not one person looked at it in the sense that my work on here was good and maybe just needed some guidance, it was a case of how many users could request for me to be blocked. You don't edit for as long as I did, or the number of edits I have carried out if you aren't doing things properly. Skippo10 (talk) 21:35, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In my view, the most serious problem by far was repeatedly adding unreferenced content to biographies of living people. Violations of WP:OVERLINK was also a concern shared by several editors. You have previously been blocked for edit warring and disruptively removing AfD templates. So, if you could bring yourself to promise to refrain from all that misbehavior, and promise to take on board criticism by other editors, then possibly your ban could be lifted. Cullen328 (talk) 21:51, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I feel that I have understood where I went wrong, and sometimes my passion can get the better of things, which is a detriment to the long term ability to edit articles on Wikipedia, I do appreciate your understanding of my position, and it is nice to speak to someone who understands me a bit. Skippo10 (talk) 07:34, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please ping me if you decide to appeal your ban. Have you considered editing Simple English Wikipedia? Some constructive editing there would be helpful and you might enjoy it. Cullen328 (talk) 16:12, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
