DYK for GJ 3634
[edit]On 9 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article GJ 3634, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that GJ 3634 b, a recently discovered Super-Earth in orbit around a red dwarf star, is estimated to be over eight times more massive than Earth? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Chula Vista
[edit]I saw you made the Chula Vista Police Department article and I wanted to ask if you where interested in joining Operation Lemon Capital Centennial We could use more help. Also I wanted to ask if you where going to go for a DYK with the article? It's ok if your not but just asking. Spongie555 (talk) 06:04, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
- Sure. :D
- It looks like you wanted to do a mass DYK drive when Chula Vista itself reaches FA, so I figured that making the article a stub for now would make it easier to do so. I'll start by de-stubbing the redlinks you've listed here and there. :) --Starstriker7(Talk) 02:48, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- Sorry I didnt see your message a while back I guess it wa pushed up to far so I missed it. Due to the city hall being new there are no books on it I checked.
My local librabries arnt the most well kept due to hard time of the economy which means cutbacks on the libraries making it hard to find resources. The city plans to release a new book soon on the whole history of the city so that might have good resources. As for city hall not much I can find either. Instead of making articles on the less resoucful areas of Chula Vista's history we should start on a article that has many resources. I have been busy lately(still am) but I can look around. Invitation to write
[edit]In my talk page, you wrote, "Have you considered building your own article? Something tells me you'd do an exceptional job, especially with the research needed to reference such an article." I've considered it, but haven't done so for two reasons: (1) I don't have sufficient time to invest in doing the job properly, and (2) I've found in my career (particle physics at SLAC) that I'm a better editor than I am a writer. I tend toward the long-winded pomposity of Stephen Jay Gould when I write :-/ I do appreciate the invitation, though! Kelseymh (talk) 20:02, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
DYK for Kepler-5b
[edit]On 18 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Kepler-5b, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Kepler-5b's extreme temperature, small orbit, and large size have brought attention to the extrasolar planet as a possible case study into similar extreme planets? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. DYK for WASP-15b
[edit]On 19 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article WASP-15b, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the anomalously high radius of extrasolar planet WASP-15b is thought to be caused by some form of internal heating? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. [edit]Hello! Your submission of Article at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Drmies (talk) 16:47, 21 May 2011 (UTC) Drmies (talk) 16:47, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- Look, none of the DYKs on this talk page have a cool or even a real name--"Kepler" is only part of the name, so that doesn't really count. Can't you give them real names? I don't think "Smurk" is taken, and that would be a great name for MOA-2009-etc.-Lb. Happy days, Drmies (talk) 16:53, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
- I will work my hardest to see this through. I'm sure the poor planet would appreciate the name change. I must say, though; its classmates, especially Milburt here, would be oozing with jealousy. --Starstriker7(Talk) 01:08, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- I appreciate your effort and hope to see results within this academic year, or your tenure may be at stake. I'll need to look into these microlensers--it sounds like a useful profession but suffering from a lack of poetic spirit. All the best, Drmies (talk) 01:27, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
- My tenure does not enjoy being at stake (it is, indeed, a lacto-ovo-vegetarian), so for the sake of its mental stability and for that of these dearest awkward students, I will implement measures within the week!
- Believe me, these microlensers are gonna rule the workforce one of these days. It is imperative that we instill a poetic spirit within them as to preserve the balance of the universe. --Starstriker7(Talk) 16:25, 22 May 2011 (UTC)
DYK for MOA-2009-BLG-387Lb
[edit]On 22 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article MOA-2009-BLG-387Lb, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the characteristics of the extrasolar planet MOA-2009-BLG-387Lb are difficult to estimate because data on its host star's characteristics are not well-constrained? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. DYK for WASP-15
[edit]On 25 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article WASP-15, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that star WASP-15 has a planet whose large radius cannot be explained without some other factor, such as some form of internal heating? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. DYK for WASP-43
[edit]On 28 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article WASP-43, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the orbit of WASP-43's one planet, which has the smallest orbit known amongst planets of its kind, has been attributed to the star's unusually low mass? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. [edit]On 29 May 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article MOA-2009-BLG-387L, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that a planet was discovered around the star MOA-2009-BLG-387L after it eclipsed a background star, refracting the star's light in a process called gravitational microlensing? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. - It's a shame I can't start Puspa Indah just yet; I'm going to Sumatra in a couple of weeks and want to take a break from DYK so nothing of mine gets featured while I am there. Hopefully it will be ready in July. Cheers! Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:13, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- I shall wait, then, and look forward to that date. Also, I hope Sumatra is wonderful. I've always wanted to visit it. :) --Starstriker7(Talk) 01:38, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
- It should be, even though it isn't entirely a pleasure trip. I will try and upload some pix to the Commons when I return... DYK for HD 205739 b
[edit]On 3 June 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article HD 205739 b, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that because of its elongated orbit, the maximum surface temperature of the extrasolar planet HD 205739 b is thought to vary by about 100 °C? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. DYK for 16113 Ahmed
[edit]Date, length and hook all good to go. Only one small concern--the sentence "Ahmed was a finalist in the 2002 Intel Science Talent Search" doesn't seem fully backed up by that source. Not an issue for the nom, since the basic statement above is back up, but I thought you might want to know for the article. I always admire your well-research and well-written astrophysics work. Cheers, Khazar (talk) 16:22, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks! :)
- Also, thank you for reviewing the article. As for your concern, I rechecked the source, and I feel it actually does back up the quote in its entirety. The quote has two paragraphs on 16113 Ahmed; the first is on the discovery, and the second addresses the whole deal with Ahmed himself and how he was involved in the talent search. --Starstriker7(Talk) 22:09, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
