Stormzy's chart peaks

[edit]

Hello User:Ss112, just checking if the chart peaks in the "discography" section of Stormzy page, including his featured singles, are accurate, some songs are listed as not having charted and others probably charted higher than what it says, could you help please?👍--Theo Mandela (talk) 06:59, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Theo Mandela: I'm fairly sure they're accurate, yes. Ss112 07:42, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok User:Ss112, no worries and thanks for checking.--Theo Mandela (talk) 08:02, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Aaliyah Australian peaks

[edit]

A while ago you asked if I could ask ARIA about some Aaliyah peaks outside the top 100. While I haven't done this yet (I'm waiting on 3 months for a list of 30 currently, which is much longer than it normally takes), I thought you might be interested to know that the singles below, which missed the top 100, were released in Australia (with release dates) - taken from the new releases lists in the ARIA Report. So far I've looked through them up until early April 1997:

30/01/1995 AALIYAH At Your Best
10/07/1995 AALIYAH Down With Clique
14/10/1996 AALIYAH If Your Girl Only Knew
3/02/1997 AALIYAH Got To Give It Up

Gavin Ryan's chart book used as a false reference by Docguy89 on INXS Discography page

[edit]

I just noticed that Docguy89 copied the Gavin Ryan chart book reference I cited on the INXS discography page, for pre-1988 ARIA certifications. 'The Swing' is the only pre-'Kick' album with a certification (of 5× platinum) listed in this book, yet he's cited the book for earlier albums (with probably questionable certification levels listed) in this edit. I had previously added citation needed tags for these (no reference was given), and removed the dubious Argentinian and Brazilian certifications he later added back. It's looking like he's an over-zealous fan, if not a vandal. I'll leave a note on his talk page. Would you mind fixing removing the ref name=ryan tags he's added to pre-'Kick' albums (minus 'The Swing', which is correct, but I had previously added)? I was going to undo his entire edit, but you've since removed some of the stuff he added.Nqr9 (talk) 13:04, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Nqr9: Yep, no problem! Done. Ss112 13:11, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. He has also added an ARIA platinum certification for 'The Years 1979-1997', citing Gavin Ryan's book. The certification could be correct (if it happened after 2010), but it is not listed in Gavin Ryan's book.Nqr9 (talk) 13:13, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Nqr9: I think they were confused (as was I momentarily) about ARIA listing Definitive INXS as the version that was certified, despite the high placement of The Years 1979–1997 at the same time. Perhaps ARIA was confused about the similar compilations, or were supplied with other data? Not quite sure. Ss112 13:26, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not big enough a fan to know, but I know Hung Medien messed up Divinyls' 'Essential' (1991 compilation) with 'The Collection' (1993 compilation that missed the top 100), listing the former as the latter.Nqr9 (talk) 13:31, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it's quite confusing still to me, actually. ARIA Reports at the time have Definitive Collection 79–97 charting, ARIA lists that as being certified, but the article for The Years 1979–1997 claims that is the Australian version, and Hung Medien's database has that as the version that charted. Ss112 13:35, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for some of the hassle I've caused folks. I've only been a member about a year now and I had no idea that album certifications could only be listed when that specific country's chart column was present also. As for the insertion of the "dubious" Argentina and Brazil certifications, I did not insert them onto this article. I did try to find citations for them, only finding a couple for Argentina. As for the Gavin Ryan book reference, well that was just ignorant of me to use that as a citation. I will know next time to read citation info more carefully. Lastly, I'm not a vandal, just a fan. Sorry again for the inconvenience. Docguy89 (talk) 15:27, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Docguy89: Sorry for suggesting you might be a vandal. After editing here for a while though, seeing a user add references that don't contain the info claimed tends to make you cranky suspicious. You get better at adding references/identifying reliable sources with practice, so don't be discouraged.Nqr9 (talk) 04:40, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable source?

[edit]

Hey, as you noticed i've been working on the That's the Spirit article and i noticed that various sources were clearly unreliable (even .wordpress.com domains) so i removed after analizing them. One of them were Ghost Cult Magazine, which reviewed the album. This guy who wrote the review is not a real journalist. If you look at his Linkedin, he definetly didn't studied Journalism (http://linkedin.com/in/stevetovey13). Anyway an user keep on believing in its reliability. Here's the link http://www.ghostcultmag.com/album-review-bring-me-the-horizon-thats-the-spirit-rca-columbia. What you think? Thanks. Anonpediann (talk) 22:17, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

irishcharts.ie

[edit]

Hi, I saw on one of your recent edits "There is zero benefit to having the Irish chart link archived. The site you still works, and you have to type the artist's name in anyway. Archiving a search bar is not helpful. Also, irishcharts.ie only archives the top 40." I agree with you re: archiving the search page, and specific search URL's from it (e.g. http://irishcharts.ie/search/placement?page=1&placement%5btitle%5d=Glittering+Prize ) don't seem to be able to be archived by the Wayback Machine. However, the site is temperamental - recently I couldn't even get the search page to load for a few consecutive days, although it is currently working again. For this reason, in the past I've tended to take screen-shots of search results from this site and upload them to imgur.com - but recently I've been linking to specific search URLs. Also, the site only has the top 30 peaks on it.Nqr9 (talk) 09:08, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, it's not a very great site. The URL bar is one that doesn't change depending on the search entered, and there are no album archives. I also should've remembered that as you say, it is a top 30, as recent Irish chart peaks between 31 and 40 haven't been showing up on there, although I could have sworn years ago the site said it archived the top 40. [edit]

Hey, I'm changing some of your db-1s to {{db-hoax}} as I think that's what you meant? Hope that is okay - I agree with you that they are hoaxes and I suspect I know who the culprit is, so I'm filing an SPI on them. Cheers! CHRISSYMAD ❯❯❯¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 12:10, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Chrissymad: Yeah, I think that would have been a better speedy deletion template to use. However, they've been blocked indefinitely and their fake pages deleted now anyway. Thanks anyway! Ss112 12:14, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Despacito

Hi @Ss112: I agree with you. You want to delete the Billboard Hot 100 No. 9 peak of the Remix version section of Despacito? Brankestein (talk) 04:45, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Per this comment, I'm curious now. Has the referenced editor done such a thing in the past? I've seen this happen with other editors before, but I wasn't aware of any such issue with this editor. Steel1943 (talk) 20:04, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oh wow, I see now. You left a notice on their talk page back in November 2016 regarding this. Steel1943 (talk) 20:06, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Anyways, I placed a history merge request in hopes that it can remedy the situation. Since I've seen such situations before, I do understand what you mean, and possibly a report needs to be made regarding the editor if this is a constantly repeated issue. Steel1943 (talk) 20:10, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jith12: If the genres on the page are indeed controversial, then I would suggest it be discussed at Talk:Zara Larsson. Ss112 20:40, 27 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jimmy Somerville discography

[edit]

Can I ask your opinion on whether you think one of the smaller EU markets listed on the Jimmy Somerville discography page should be replaced with Australian peaks, and if so, which one? I was thinking Austria, as only a few releases charted there.Nqr9 (talk) 03:20, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Nqr9: I would definitely replace Austria on that page. One entry in each section is barely notable enough. Ss112 03:57, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism on Bros page

[edit]

Hi, I saw you recently reverted some edits on the Bros page. This page is on my watch list, as there was an IP vandal adding unsourced and false worldwide sales and fake chart positions to it several months back. I requested page protection, and it was granted (temporarily). I see now that there has been a flood of false information added to the article from presumably the same user overnight. Normally I would just revert this myself, but they've made many edits (Arronstevens56565 also seems to be the same user - they sometimes created new accounts) and it's more complicated than I normally handle. Would you mind taking care of this/reporting the user/requesting page protection?Nqr9 (talk) 00:40, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This user also edited my user page in retaliation for reverting their edits at one point, so be warned!Nqr9 (talk) 00:41, 1 May 2017 (UTC
@Nqr9: I've reported them to WP:ANV and requested the page be protected there, which is generally all that needs to be done. They were vandalising Steps articles the other day. Ss112 00:48, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!Nqr9 (talk) 01:18, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Nqr9: Yeah, it looks like administrators are busy and are dismissing it/don't want to look into it. I've requested page protection at WP:RFPP, but perhaps you should revert them first? Ss112 02:01, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It was messy, but I've now reverted all of their edits (I couldn't do it with Twinkle, so had to undo each one). Can you please make another page protection request?Nqr9 (talk) 02:32, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Despacito

[edit]

Hey! I noticed that you updated the Spanish peak for the remix version of Despacito. However, I just wanted to say that PROMUSICAE and Spanishcharts.com have slightly different chart positions. According to PROMUSICAE, "Despacito (Remix)" debuted at No. 14 while on Spanishcharts it debuted at No. 3. Also on PROMUSICAE's chart the original version remained as No. 1 for fourteen consecutive weeks, while on Spanishcharts it was No. 2 for one week following the debut of Enrique Iglesias' "Súbeme La Radio". PROMUSICAE's chart is based on digital sales plus streaming, and I believe that Spanishcharts is based only on airplay. I wanted to ask if we could remain with PROMUSICAE's chart, taking into account that it is also the organisation that certifies music in Spain. Brankestein (talk) 05:15, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Brankestein: Spanishcharts.com does use PROMUSICAE's charts, just a different combination for the singles chart. The albums chart on PROMUSICAE and spanishcharts.com is the same, it's just the singles chart that is different (sometimes similar, but not always the same). If you want the source to be consistent for Spain, then I guess it's alright to change it back. Ss112 06:16, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Ss112, I've added a source for genre on I'm the One (DJ Khaled song), but not 100% sure if "Bieber to be his best form here, aka a pretty great R&B scrub" means the song is R&B or Bieber is R&B, probably the first one. I'm fair sure "faux" tropical house still called it tropical house. What do you think? 👍--Theo Mandela (talk) 01:58, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

7 or 8th of May?

[edit]

For the ARIA charts I'm seeing the 7th of May as the date. Here's a screenshot. What are you seeing? Cheers, Anarchyte (work | talk) 09:27, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Anarchyte: Really? I'm seeing "8 MAY, 2017" here: http://www.ariacharts.com.au/charts/albums-chart. I uploaded a screenshot here, and ARIA's dates are always Mondays. Their current permanent PDF of this week's albums chart has 8 May as well: [1] Ss112 10:34, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, mine loads up instantly as "08 MAY, 2017" and then changes itself to "7 MAY, 2017". Here's a (pretty bad) gif: https://gyazo.com/51d22741442701730a54c59da0ea17a1 . Maybe it's because of time zones? I'm AEST. I'm seeing 8 May 2017 on the PDF so I'll use that from now on. Cheers, Anarchyte (work | talk) 11:04, 6 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Release history

[edit]

Hello, Ss112. Is it appropriate to include the version in the format column? I can't find anything on WP:SONG, release histories aren't mentioned at all. Now most pages tend to do this:

Format
... Digital download ...
Digital download – acoustic version
Digital download – remixes

However, "Acoustic version" and "remixes" aren't formats, they're different versions of the song. Is it okay to add a "version" column next to "format"? i.e.

Format Version
... Digital download Original ...
Acoustic version
Remixes

This looks kind of weird, though. Hayman30 (talk) 09:26, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Hayman30: I guess it depends. There's no guidelines against it. I would probably personally go for the version column. Ss112 09:30, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Radio add dates

[edit]

If "Whatever It Takes" was released on iTunes separate from the pre-order THEN it would be a single. My note was stating that in order for instant gratification tracks off of pre-orders to be singles, they'd need a radio add to be considered more than promotional. BlaccCrab (talk) 19:02, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For example, like you stated about "Castle On the Hill" being a single from the get-go. Yes it was, however that was released individually before the pre-order went up. BlaccCrab (talk) 19:06, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Logic

[edit]

So you're saying that which ever song charted highest on the chart goes first? I see on Drake's discography that the other charted songs are in order of the album More Life. I'm confused. ---- JustDoItFettyg (talk) 23:13, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pollinator (album)

[edit]

Hi Ss112. Thank you for telling me about my edit at Pollinator (album). When I removed the second source, I was sure that the main source was already updated so I did not check first. Also, I did not know that the second source would be temporary. Looks like the first reference is up to date now. I felt that two sources weren't necessary so I removed the additional source from the template without checking to see if the main source had been updated. Next time, I'll be sure to check before removing anything. Thank you. TheOnlyOne12 (talk) 21:24, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Yeah, I got the new "edit conflict" message and it looks really confusing to me so I re-copied my text and pasted it over yours, sorry about that. Also, do you know how to multiple Misc parameters in the singles infobox? A lot of Nicki's song infoboxes are messed up and I tried to fix it but it always leaves out one "extra chronology". Example No Frauds, it left out Drake's single chronlogy. Thanks --Jennica / talk 22:45, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jennica: No Frauds seems to be fine now, after Frietjes removed the extra misc parameters. You only need one, then it's all good to add whatever. Ss112 22:55, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. For the record, it seems like these are happening a lot more. This is what it looked like before. --Jennica / talk 23:00, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Jennica: Yeah, I think if the infobox doesn't have a misc parameter now, it squashes the extra chronologies over like that. Probably due to the change of formatting due the discussions to merge infobox song and single. Ss112 23:01, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How does one fix the extra parenthesis on the UK R&B chart listing? Black Barbies (song) thanks --Jennica / talk 04:54, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable good faith edits

[edit]

24.178.29.47 (talk · contribs) There is this IP who is making inaccurate changes in hip-hop related articles. I been keeping an eye on this IP edits for awhile now, and the edits don't generally helping the articles at all, they don't seem to have any concept of proper grammar or the Manual of Style. The IP make very awkward grammatically incorrect edits in album pages and have been warned by several other editors about these edits, but continue to making questionable good faith edits. My problem is that this IP's grammar is mostly terrible, and their changes are disruptive as they keep making them and add nothing constructive. What your opinion on this issue? TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 04:03, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@TheAmazingPeanuts: I remember you asking me about this before and mentioning it to the admin Laser brain. I would say if they're editing the same articles and restoring their same poor grammar and unhelpful edits, revert where necessary and maybe warn them/report for disruption if they return to restore the same changes. If this is coupled with adding original research like new genres to an article, then they should probably be blocked already for repeated addition of unsourced content. Aside from that, if they're just good faith edits but poorly written, there's not a lot that can be done. It happens all over Wikipedia; we just have to be vigilant. You can mention it to another admin besides Laser brain if the editor continue and it bothers you, but they may just tell you the same thing. Ss112 04:22, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see you've warned them quite a bit and they have returned to restore the same changes. Maybe you can report them for disruption to ANV or bring it up with an admin? They appear to never explain their edits and that's not a good look. Ss112 04:25, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The IP has made these edits [2] [3] just recently. It's clearly this editor is just ignoring warnings because they keep continue forcing these unnecessary changes in articles. If they keep this up, I will report them. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 17:25, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@TheAmazingPeanuts: You may already have a case to report them to WP:ANV for disruption. Ss112 22:30, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

So theres a Billboard article confirming that Capitol canceled Bon Appetit's radio adds and sent Swish Swish out as the second single. They also took down the single link and put Bon Appetit on the pre-order. Where did everyone sort/come to conclusion that it still counts as a single? BlaccCrab (talk) 17:03, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@BlaccCrab: Jennica's talk page. "Bon Appétit" being downgraded now doesn't mean it was not ever released as a single, as it clearly was, and its radio adds being cancelled in the US does not mean it is the same worldwide. Tthere's disagreement, so even still, nobody should be edit warring over it. Ss112 17:06, 28 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Greetings, you must be around articles about music a lot and I thought I'd stop by and ask for your help. Can you repair a broken url of a soundtrack chart? The article is Drive (2011 film), and ref #121 is dead (even though it's archived) and it's in Italian. Bluesphere 07:23, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Bluesphere: The archive would be available at http://fimi.it/classifiche#/category:archive-compilation/year:2012, but the links around the time it charted don't seem to be loading. It might be temporary, or it might be a bigger problem with FIMI's archives. Ss112 07:38, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Slide - platinum

[edit]

Slide went Platinum in the US but I don't think this is reliable enough of a source, correct? --Jennica / talk 21:58, 31 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jennica: Yeah, we need a better source than Twitter for certs. Ss112 00:26, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! I was wondering why in the article there are given chart peaks for Portugal and Spain, which are both based on unofficial charts by Hung, but at the same time there are links to both AFP and Promusicae! I mean, either use official data only or at least not make unofficial data appear as official! I have encountered similar cases throughout English Wikipedia (especially with Italian charts) and am not entirely sure how I should correct them. About some conflicts

[edit]

Hi Ss112, how are you? At first, I'd like to thank you for advice me so many times about things I did wrong and also I'd like to say sorry for it too. You've been helping me so much since I started to edit and update charts peak and certifications about some countries and artists. I've been following your instructions as much as I can, even with some conflicts of edits like New Zealand charts. I apologize if it offended you in any way, but I would also like to clarify that I always care about so many charts and certificates of countries like Canada, New Zealand, Italy, United States, United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, German, France, Australia and even a little with Poland, Austria, Switzerland and Norway. I'm just doing how you instructed me: I was just citing source, because I saw none on Halsey, Alessia and Julia page discography. Once again, thank you for always advice and help me and sorry for all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Certificationsaccess (talkcontribs) 13:26, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Home Counties

[edit]

I don't particularly think I know my way around wikipedia protocol. You certainly seem to. However, I think your actions were a little hasty. It's true that the article creator didn't put much on the page. I thought it was standard protocol to mark an article for deletion prior to redirecting it to the main page. I'm currently putting some work into this page. I hope you will overlook my method of undoing your edits. I intend no malice. Chadwholovedme (talk) 17:05, 10 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Discography

[edit]

Hi Ss112, do you know where on Calvin Harris discography his song "Don't Quit" (with DJ Khaled featuring Travis Scott and Jeremih) would go? (Singles, Other charted songs, Guest appearances or Production and songwriting credits). It's from Khaled's album Grateful, thanks.--Theo Mandela (talk) 10:06, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Theo Mandela: Until it is made a single or charts, it looks like a guest appearance. Ss112 10:53, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, editing it in now.--Theo Mandela (talk) 20:34, 12 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to join the discussion at Talk:Monstercat#Templates. Would be great if you could participate in and help sort out the discussions and edit war going on at the Monstercat page. It seems some editors want the artist list and templates on the article and the other editors don't. - TheMagnificentist 12:29, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@TheMagnificentist: I think you've got it covered. You weren't really involved in the recent edit war on the page, so you're kind of taking on that mediator role on the talk page. I can't see that I'd really offer more than you have, because from what I can see, I don't have an issue with the artist table. Also, I chuckled a little that you prefaced your message with the image of the eye, hahaha. Ss112 12:37, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't though, it's just the Twinkle thing lol. - TheMagnificentist 12:42, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@TheMagnificentist: Oh, really? I know some basic things about Twinkle but not that it did that, hahaha. Ss112 12:45, 13 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yup

[edit]

I do know how many positions are on Hot Hip Hop Songs chart but it's annoying/time consuming adding a note and going over each little character to make sure it pops out and says "did not chart but..." on every single underperforming single. Plus people know what it means regardless of what it's technically been changed to because 9 on bubbling = 59. I don't just purposely put wrong information in discography articles. BlaccCrab (talk) 08:21, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@BlaccCrab: 59 is inaccurate, as songs that fall out of the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart do not re-enter the Bubbling Under chart, so a song that was 50 last week that has dropped out may be 51 in sales this week, so if we put what is number 1 on the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop chart as 51, that is incorrect. Same with the Bubbling Under Hot 100; per WP:USCHARTS: "Doing so would violate WP:SYNTH by creating information not directly supported by the source (i.e., the notion that the Bubbling Under chart is an extension to the main chart and the position)". Besides, it was left unreferenced when you removed the note, because the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs column reference does not cover Bubbling Under peaks. Ss112 08:25, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Argentine albums

[edit]

Hi! I recently noted that you reverted my edits on Beauty and the Beast (2017 soundtrack), Five (Prince Royce album) and ÷ (album). I contributed to this articles by adding peak chart positions for the albums in Argentina, providing a reliable source to the chart (Argentine Chamber of Phonograms and Videograms Producers (CAPIF)'s official website, the company that is in charge of publishing Argentina's album charts and its certifications). I want to know the reason why you reverted my edits. As far as I am concerned, I did not do anything wrong, but maybe I did and you can tell me! Thank you for your time. --Gab10 (talk) 23:13, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Gab10: I provided a reason when reverting you—I said monthly albums charts should not be mixed up with weekly ones. It is generally presumed that without a subheading under charts, they are weekly. However, when we start adding charts that represent the whole of a month, that's when subheadings become necessary, as it is not the norm for most countries. Ss112 03:07, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see! My mistake. So the solution would be to add a subheading for Monthly charts? Diario de Cultura also provides CAPIF's weekly charts.Los discos más vendidos Even though it is not a direct link to CAPIF, it is a reliable source in Argentina and it needs to be archivated week by week. Do you think this one could be used to list weekly peak chart positions in Argentina? --Gab10 (talk) 18:13, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Gab10: Yeah, I think so. Ss112 18:42, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Irish charts

[edit]

Ss112, now that Chart-track.co.uk does not update their charts anymore, what do you think of adding Irish-charts from Hung Medien as another option in {{singlechart}} and {{albumchart}} templates? Their discography page for an artist lists the song peaks with album peaks also. Halsey or Nicki Minaj for example. —IB [ Poke ] 15:48, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@IndianBio: It would be very helpful. I asked quite a while ago on Template talk:Single chart, and a request was put in a relevant WikiProject for help, but nothing's been done about it, unfortunately. Ss112 15:49, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Let me put forward a direct request with edit jargon. Maybe you can back me up on that. —IB [ Poke ] 15:50, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@IndianBio: Sure, I'll contribute what I can! Ss112 15:54, 16 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy tagging

[edit]

Hi there. Not sure what you did here. Did you substitute the speedy template? If so, please don't in future. Also, I declined the tagging since A9 cannot be applied for recordings of artists that have an article. Regards SoWhy 13:38, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@SoWhy: I thought we were supposed to substitute speedy delete templates. Why not those? Never mind, I forgot, substituting is not used for temporary templates. Ss112 13:44, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) You are supposed to substitute speedy deletion warnings, not the templates placed in articles. Maintenance tags - which includes speedy tags - should never be substituted unless explicitly mentioned because it clutters the article with wikicode most people don't understand (AFD for example is an explicit exemption). So you add {{db-a9}} to the article but {{subst:db-a9-notice}} to the talk page of the creator. Regards SoWhy 13:45, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I see you have struck your question, so my explanation is kind of pointless now, isn't it? Ah well... Regards SoWhy 13:47, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Chart error

[edit]

Do you know how to fix this? Four_in_Blue#Charts. I can't figure out what the formatting should be for their name. I tried it all ways. themiracles, the-miracles, TheMiracles, Miracles, etc. Thanks. --Jennica / talk 01:39, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jennica: Just tried "The Miracles" and that works. The artist's name has to be put under whichever letter it starts with; that would be at Template:BillboardID/T. If you want to add an artist, you just find their profile on billboard.com and get the number from the URL and add a new entry at the corresponding template. Ss112 02:15, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks! That's the only one I didn't try lol. --Jennica / talk 03:26, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I am actively editing the article. So any formatting quirks that you notice will be gone in a matter of time. I'm gathering references as they are available, and will bringing it up to par with MOS standards. Which WP:OVERLINKING are you referring to? DA1 (talk) 20:40, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@DA1: Linking to Twitter twice in references on the page. Ss112 20:46, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Those were two separate tweets. If i only posted one, the citation would not be reliable or well-interpretable. Since one was a teaser of the name, while the other reiterated it being an official release. Doesn't really go against WP:OVERLINK as they're not redundant. But I could combine them into one ref. DA1 (talk) 20:59, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@DA1: No, I meant linking to the Twitter article twice, not providing two sources from the same website. Ss112 21:07, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Angels in Chains

[edit]

Hello. I see you've created a redirect for this. Shouldn't it have its own article?Zigzig20s (talk) 21:26, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Zigzig20s: Perhaps, but if you're meaning to ask why I haven't created an article for it myself, I don't know if I could provide enough material for it to pass WP:NSONGS. If an article were to be created, however, it should be at Angels in Chains. I created Angels In Chains as a namespace with alternate capitalisation. Ss112 21:35, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't it a single?Zigzig20s (talk) 22:35, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Zigzig20s: Yes, but I still don't know if there is enough for it to pass WP:NSONGS. I don't always create redirects for articles I intend to work on extensively. Ss112 22:49, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I would think so, although most of the RS I can find on google are newspaper articles about her performances or interviews. It is somewhat promotional. But that may be the case for all articles about songs.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:16, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Brooke Candy

[edit]

Hello! How are you doing? I just wanted to say that you were right, Daddy Issues will most likely never come out. RCA just updated their page and she isn't signed to them anymore. She also stated that was going to release a rap EP and that wasn't feeling doing mainstream pop music anymore. Should we redirect the page? I'm lowkey glad cause her career was going anywhere, i think she'll be most successful doing pop-inspired rap music even and hopefully signs with a better label. Anonpediann (talk) 11:03, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Anonpediann: Hey! Yeah, I'm doing well. I think it's up to you if it should be redirected or not, as you've been editing the page since 2016. Personally I think it could be redirected, as the lead paragraph links to an article where she was talking about her EP this month and didn't acknowledge the album, there's no release date, and the fact that she might have gone from RCA. I mean, that's not to say that she couldn't negotiate the release of the album independently, but yeah, a case could be made for keeping or redirecting. Maybe open a discussion on the talk page? Ss112 11:12, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think there's some cool information there that could be approached for the main page. Anyway, we both know the album is not going to be relased. I can start a discussion on the talk page or wait till we get more information (this time the EP is DEFFINETLY coming out this summer as she is independent now and some interviews in some random fashion portals most likely will pop up). Her being out from RCA is a fact, as she was on their "ARTISTS" page section like one week ago. Thank you so much. Anonpediann (talk) 15:14, 29 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I've noticed that you've recently edited the page for Beth Ditto's solo studio album Fake Sugar. Is it possible that you upload the cover arts for Fake Sugar, EP (Beth Ditto EP) and Fire (Beth Ditto song) articles whenever possible?
