Jesse Powell
[edit]Thanks for adding the Superbowl VIII template to Jesse Powell (American football). But, as per the second paragraph of the article, my source says he played in three Superbowls, and only two are currently listed. Perhaps the third could be added if it can be verified--or if not, I'll have to edit the text to say "played in two Superbowls." Kindly let me know. Guyovski (talk) 22:37, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
Re: Three Super Bowls - Reference 1 http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/P/PoweJe22.htm showing he was on the '73 Dolphins Roster. Reference 2 http://lubbockonline.com/local-news/2012-06-14/west-texan-powell-member-dolphins-unbeaten-champions-dies-65#.T90NFyqF80t, a newspaper article with an interview of him talking about playing in VI, VII. and VIII as special teams player. Hope this is sufficient. Spparky (talk) 22:52, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

—Tom Morris (talk) 11:19, 20 June 2012 (UTC)List of NFL starting quarterbacks
[edit]Hello, Spparky. I removed your addition of the impending quarterback changes from the list of quarterbacks. While it is very likely for those quarterbacks to start, and they probably will, Wikipedia has a policy on predicting future events. Editors usually revert edits like these on the basis of something happening between now and the expected event that changes the course of events. An example for this article, is that there is a months worth of events that could change who is the starting quarterback. There are training injuries that occur in the off-season and there is competition between quarterbacks to decide who is the starter. Not only that, but there is four weeks worth of preseason games which could injure a quarterback or decide their depth chart position. For this particular article, we usually wait until the day the quarterback takes the field or is named the starter just prior to the game. This ensures accuracy for the article. Spparky: First of all, I want thank you for all the work you've done to the page - it looks great. It looks like we've run into a bit of a space issue however. This can be fixed using one of many approaches. I've outlined some of my thoughts on how to get there on the talk page. With all the work you've done, I don't want to start undoing a lot of what you've done without getting your thoughts on how to get there. I was hoping you'd share your thoughts as to where we could make some cuts to the article. Making some of the bigger cuts can probably take place once the season has concluded, but cuts need to be made. I know the page loads slowly for me at times due to size issues. - Something seems a bit off regarding the other notable QB's. I'll use the comparison of Steve Walsh who is currently listed as 'notable' while Chris Chandler and Jim Harbaugh are not. Steve Walsh's claim to fame is that he had two okay seasons....one was in 1990 when he was with the Saints. He helped lead them to the playoffs that year although in his only playoff game that season he didn't even play the whole game....and they lost that game. He didn't even play the whole season with New Orleans - he started the year with Dallas. The other year was 1994 which was in my opinion notable. He went 8-3 as a starter with the Bears and he won a playoff game. The second playoff game they lost and he didn't finish the game. He never even made the pro bowl. He never started more than 11 games in any season.
- Contrast that with fellow Bear QB Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh went 35-30 during his stint with the Bears. He didn't win a playoff game with Chicago, but he certainly played longer and won more games during his tenure with them. Then Harbaugh led the NFL in passer rating in 1995 when he was with the Colts. He made the pro bowl that year and his team advanced all the way the AFC championship game. Had he retired after the 1996 season, he would have finished with a record of 53-47. Also, consider Chris Chandler who, like Steve Walsh, was a journeyman quarterback. but clearly, Chandler had a more notable career. Like Walsh, he only had a couple good seasons. Unlike Walsh however, Chandler actually made back to back pro bowls and even led the Atlanta Falcons to the Super Bowl. Maybe you could tweak your inclusion criteria when you get a chance. I think longevity, pro bowls, and/or playoff success should be considered. Walsh just doesn't cut it in my opinion compared to some of the others who have had more successful careers. Stylteralmaldo (talk) 04:05, 11 December 2012 (UTC)
- I've pared the list down to a criteria of 35+ wins w/ @ least .500 win pct. I think most in the category are notable. Perhaps that list can be tweaked later when one of us has the time to look into it. Stylteralmaldo (talk) 01:45, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Updating 2013 NFL articles
[edit]Hi there. I noticed the time stamp of your update to the Most wins by a starting quarterback (NFL) page, which puts it to when the Ravens-Broncos game was still in the fourth quarter. [1] While you may have thought that the Ravens had no chance of making a serious, late fourth-quarter miraculous comeback like the Heidi Game, The Monday Night Miracle, or the 2003 Colts-Bucs Game, such premature edits are not advisable until after the game ends. What would you have done if the Ravens did actually make such a comeback? Revert yourself and chalk it up as a "Dewey Defeats Truman" moment? All I know is that the Ravens apparently scored ten unanswered points to cut the score to 42-27 after your edit ... Thanks. Zzyzx11 (talk) 05:56, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

[edit]I have never heard of Provelt, but I would advise its creators of WP:STRONGNAT (I will sometimes patrol US-related pages and make the appropriate date changes, since dmy is not the commonly used date format in the United States). FYI, there is a script that you can use to fix the date formats. Canuck89 (have words with me) 07:36, November 22, 2013 (UTC)
Most Wins By a Starting QB proposed changes
[edit]Hi there. Firstly, I wanted to thank you for all you've done to the QB wins page. It looks great. With that said, someone posted on the talk page regarding concerns with the page. The user proposes reverting back to the way the page used to look. I don't agree with that approach but I do agree that perhaps some changes ought to be made. I'd like your input regarding some proposed changes I'd personally like to see on the page, but would like to get your opinion on such. Stylteralmaldo (talk) 16:12, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for offering me the opportunity to put in my 2 cents. I have removed the passer ratings from the page and the former leader color. I think the win percentage indicators sets the great qbs apart from the others. When you sort the lists by teams, the bronze stars highlight the more prominent quarterbacks at a glance without having to go over each ones win loss record. I think it is a help on the sorting more so than the list when it is not sorted. I feel the clutter issue is dealt with now. By the way, I also appreciate your contributions to the football pages, as well as some of your other work. Spparky (talk) 05:06, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you much and have a Merry Christmas! Stylteralmaldo (talk) 16:36, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

[edit]But Shaq IS available for next year's Hall of Fame, they just changed the eligibility waiting time, so instead of first being able to get in in 2017, he is now able to get in in 2016. So with all due respect, I DID verify it, so you should change it back.
New section on head coach super bowl history
[edit]So in my boredom (I recently lost my job, was totally my fault) I made a second table on the page. This one is categorized by games, it shows what coaches were involved in each game. Go check it out if you get a sec. You tell me, worth keeping or no? I thought it was just interesting seeing all the coaches that were together for each game. Zdawg1029 (talk) 06:12, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- Sure, it is worth keeping, adds additional info. Only suggestion would be to add a column showing what NFL season it was, those Roman numerals give most people no clue about the date of game. Sorry about your job, maybe it is time for you to start your own business.Spparky (talk) 03:52, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- I added a column showing the date of the game, as opposed to what season it was. I figured if I put the season I would have to add the link for it as well, and I'm too lazy for that today. Maybe I'll update that later, but the date should give them a good enough idea at this point. Zdawg1029 (talk) 17:47, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of National Football League career rushing touchdowns leaders, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Joe Perry (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). [edit]Dolphins template colors
[edit]As I linked in my reversions of your recent edits to Miami Dolphins templates, there was a discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Football_League/Archive_17#Miami_Dolphins_table_colors_to_meet_WP:CONTRAST regarding the Dolphins' colors meeting WP:CONTRAST. There did not appear to be any consensus to change the colors away from the black-on-aqua (although my preference was a different scheme since I also strain to read it). If you feel strongly about changing it and trying to obtain a new consensus for the color scheme, please start up a new discussion at WT:NFL. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:42, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

I revamped the Super Bowl records page a few yrs ago, I created the NFL pages most wins by head coach, playoff wins by head coach, list of playoff streaks, last undefeated team. Revamped the Hall of fame list. Yea, I like doing the lists for the NFL pages. Hope you enjoy them. Spparky (talk) 14:49, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
