Australian hall of fame
I sense a potential hornet's nest, as "Football Hall of Fame" is used for both what I'd call football and for Aussie rules. The hall of fame website is at http://www.footballhalloffame.com.au/, but it appears that it used to be called the Australian Soccer Hall of Fame, a title which is now deprecated. So while Australian Football (Soccer) Hall of Fame is clearly nonstandard, the correct title is not immediately obvious – there are redirects at Australian Football (soccer) Hall of Fame, Australian Football Hall of Fame (soccer), Australian Soccer Hall of Fame, Football Federation Australia Football Hall of Fame and Football Federation Australia - Football Hall of Fame. Given the uncertainties, it'd probably be better to take this move to WP:RM. Oldelpaso (talk) 10:03, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Poohsticks
The article Poohsticks you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Poohsticks for things needed to be addressed. \ / (⁂) 05:48, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Re ITN
Cheers mate. I've got more involved in that because at the moment with my uni work and part job I have very little free time to work on articles. At the moment I'm working on both the Albert Dock and Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City articles but only in dribs and drabs in my sandbox. Hopefully during the holidays I can really have a go of getting the MMC upto B class. --Daviessimo (talk) 15:44, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Football player articles
Hello, the problem is that the cite web template doesn't convert the international format anymore but shows it as "Retrieved on 2008-11-26" instead of "Retrieved on 26 November 2008". If this is only a problem of my preferences, then it was a useless change. -- Jaellee (talk) 07:04, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

- The main deal I wanted to do was start a wiki page for Joe Gideon & The Shark, who supported Nick Cave at the gig J & I went to. They're former members of Bikini Atoll who probably won't pass notability yet. But you should check out there myspace, they're good. Soooooooo, I'm going to learn about BA and build a page for them. As a laugh. I've never even heard them, but I'm bound to have to become a fan or summat now.
- My username actually stemmed from a mint short-story Neil Gaiman (AMAZING scientology discussion on his talk page) wrote, which he based on the aforementioned Gruff family. But I'm thinking of sticking with, to hell with the doubters.Fol de rol troll (talk) 23:01, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yo dude, how would I go about querying the Lofepramine#Dosage part of the article? It presents what it's saying as fact, but through personal experience, I know this is not the case. I was looking to add a citation request, but I don't know how to do that. I don't want to remove this part of the article as that would be foolish, but I'm unsure on how to edit it. Basically, where it says MUST just isn't true. I was started on 140mg and moved onto 210mg within the time-frame specified, but told to take them all at night. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fol de rol troll (talk • contribs) 12:32, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm back. I was wondering whether you could look at this and tell me whether you think it's good for publishing? I'm reasonably satisfied with the content and don't know if there is much more I can do about them. Just hoping you could check the content and style and confirm. I'm still boggled on the picture front. Can I just steal one for now? As stolen pics seem to just make articles unsuitable for recommended statuses, which this is unlikely to get anyway. Or is this just terribly bad form and not on? I may have managed to get my beef with the multiple references thing sorted by the time you read this, but if not, feel free to sort it out for me. Cheers! —Preceding undated comment was added at 00:55, 18 December 2008 (UTC).
Thank you for reviewing this article. I have made most of the requested changes, and I have asked for clarification on the remainder. - I'm not sure about the PPV abbreviation. It is used in some other articles, but I've never been sure if it's an encyclopedic abbreviation or more of a message board/internet chat abbreviation. If you think it's encyclopedic, I can make the change, though. GaryColemanFan (talk) 23:14, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for doing this review. It can be quite hard to find willing reviewers for wrestling articles. I appreciate the detail you put into the review; it gave me a lot to think about with my future editing. And thanks for being willing to discuss some of the points. I've nominated 20 articles and reviewed over 100—with many reviews, a minor disagreement or two may come up, and it's nice to be able to discuss them respectfully. Hello Sillyfolkboy I want you to know that I edited the height of Ryan to 1,85 m because I know he is this height since he was playing at Ajax and on the official website of Ajax it was listed 1,85 m and 78 kg,also on Eurosport.yahoo.com it was listed 1,85 m 78 kg.I think that is the correct height not 1,83 m,he looks taller than 1,83 m,that's why I edited him not to vandalise the page.Karim Abdul Rashid (talk) 15:12, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Karim Abdul RashidKarim Abdul Rashid (talk) 15:12, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

hi sfb, thanks for the comment you left on my talk page regarding the above review. I didn't actually think that i had covered all the points you stated in the review, but then i looked back on it and realised the only one i have not explicitly worked on was the point you made about referencing. Re. Equatorial Guinea - Portuguese as official language
Hello Sillyfolkboy. Yes, it's quite weird. Basically, Obiang decided to make Portuguese official in Equatorial Guinea, regardless of the virtual absence of Portuguese speakers. So far we can only attest a "declaration of intent" of the government to make Portuguese official there. Apart from the CPLP website (who apparently claim what even the EG government does not), there are no sources reporting the language having already been made effectively official in EG; the official website of EG does not state Portuguese being official in EG! Same for the CIA World Factbook and BBC. However, there has been clearly a wave of enthusiasm in the Portuguese-speaking world, and the always faulty Portuguese Wikipedia was hasty to declare that Portuguese is now official in EG. Which is wrong, because most sources contradict that claim (I've checked lots of sources in English, Portuguese and Spanish). Almost every day I have to revert enthusiasts of the Lusophone expansion, who'll try to have the article forcibly display the much disputed and non-verified Portuguese as official in EG. Sigh. :-/ Regards, Húsönd 21:25, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Peer Review
Hi there. I wanted to ask of you a favor. I remember your very excellent peer review that you did on this article. I have a couple more articles that are undergoing peer review at the moment. One, Sozin's Comet, is kind of on the back burner at the moment. However, FAC suggested that I get a really good copyeditor, and you were the first one I thought of. Do you think you could check that one out at some point?
Also, the main article for that topic, Avatar: The Last Airbender is currently undergoing some fixes up for a possible GA/FA push eventually. I just wanted to ask you how close to GA you think it is, and what we could do to fix it up.

Sozin's Comet PR
Thanks for taking the time to give such a lengthy peer review. I wasn't the one who started the review, but I'll be glad to tackle some issues. Sorry for having not replied earlier, I haven't been on Wikipedia for a bit due to my business. :P I'll see what I can do, though it might be a slow process.
Again, thanks for reviewing! It hasn't been getting much attention at all. --haha169 (talk) 04:33, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oh yes, about that. I believe that I have finished, though a sentence or two may still be needed in the production section. This is, of course, me speaking though, so the article is probably in no better shape than before :) In any case, take your time with a response; I've got plenty of time. NuclearWarfare (Talk) 04:58, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- No, I've re-read the entire article, and it is nearly unrecognizable (in a positive way). Many issues have been cleared up. If this is the result of your peer review, then thank you very much. Dwain Chambers
You are of course absolutely right. I knew that the record had been broken but had not bothered to look up the details; you doing that for me was helpful, thank you.
I was (and still am) a little unsure of the correct status of Chambers performance. I knew he had been caught but cannot find a reference specifically stating that his record had been rescinded. I am happy to accept that it should not be counted, but that is just my bias against drug cheats. Thanks for your help. Cottonshirt (talk) 07:54, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
I don't want to be picky, but the article you found doesn't actually say that his European record was anulled, it says, "In May that year, the International Association of Athletics Federations stripped Chambers of his European gold medal and annulled his British record."
Technically, the IAAF cannot anull his British record. The British record is ratified by what used to be called the BAAB, and is now called UK Athletics. That would be like the Olympic Organising Committee saying that his Commonwealth Record had been anulled, they have no jurisdiction over the British record. I think it fair to assume that the journalist (Arj Singh) has got his athletics organisations in a knot, or got his notes shuffled or something.
I'm not claiming that the record has not been anulled, by the way, it's just that the source you found does not confirm it. Which is a shame considering the trouble you went to to find it. Thank you, Cottonshirt (talk) 16:25, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

I think you should either tone down or withdraw the comment you made here. You should refrain from making personal attacks when discussing how to improve articles. "Turkish" Dylan
Thanks for flagging up strange edits about Dylan's Turkish roots. Looking at edit history, I realised there was a good para on Dylan's ancestry that some anonymous editor deleted at 20.14, 14 Jan 2009, so I've re-instated it. I think it's better we give info on Dylan's "Turkish" ancestry accurately—sourcing it as a claim Dylan makes in Chronicles, Volume One. Otherwise some over-enthusiastic editor makes too big a deal of it and sources it to a blog with strange heading such as "Bob Dylan is Turkish!"—best wishes Mick gold (talk) 12:11, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Tyson Gay Biography
Thank you for working on the Tyson Gay article. I have been pretty busy as of late, and therefore have not had time to contribute to articles in athletics, but currently I find no real faults with your rewrite of the article. You emphasize things a little differently than I would have, in that you write a lot about his appearances in the championships. If his career continues for another 6 years, he may see two, three, or even four more championship-level appearances. Surely you wouldn't write 3-4 paragraphs on each one? Of course, I'm just being overly picky. Perhaps I just think it's ironic that newcomer sprinters like Tyson Gay, whose success has been rather brief, have significantly longer articles than sprinters with much greater fame and legacies, such as legends Frankie Fredericks, Quincy Watts, and Butch Reynolds.
But anyways, great work. Mipchunk (talk) 21:30, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

I've removed the thread from my talkpage completely, I won't be replying to editors who don't understand policy (and then use sockpuppets to try to rig AfDs, as the AfD will show shortly). Black Kite 01:14, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Fair enough but I hope you can help me try to get JW to focus his energies on something more constructive and collaborative (see his talk page). He's been around for quite a while now so I'm sure he can reform and improve some United related articles. Cheers. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 01:17, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- No problem with that, I've improved the Man Utd article myself in the past even though I loathe the b******s. Trying to rig that AfD so blatantly was just silly - not sure how he thought he could get away with that. There must be many MU related articles that need fixing - I certainly had quite a few on my watchlist because they were being so badly written at one point (Ronaldo and Rio Ferdinand spring to mind). Black Kite 01:25, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- As far as any "AFD rigging" goes I'm not aware of any unsavoury activity, I just thought it was a few over-zealous Manchester United fans getting a bit carried away. To be honest, I hope that the content can be used in another article in a more meaningful way.

- I've had my eye on those articles too. Who would have thought that a Liverpool fan would have written about Ronaldo's "precocious talent" eh? Maybe that's a little bit of POV but I think editors are far too cautious about things like this on football articles, for example I'd need a dozen citations just to prove that "Xabi Alonso has a good vision for passing"; something that is blatantly obvious to any observer, regardless of affiliation. Ah well, it's only representative of football's vapid press coverage anyway... Sillyfolkboy (talk) 01:41, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps I'm just cynical, being an admin that has previously done a lot of investigation of sock rings, but in this case the voterigging was fairly obvious - if you look at the edit-summaries for these three diffs - [4], [5] and [6] - they're pretty much identical, and belong to Jw2035 and two of the IP addresses that also voted Keep on the AfD. The checkuser dug up another account as well. As I say, pointless. Black Kite 01:49, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Well that does look pretty pointless, but hopefully we can put this all behind us. I'd rather try and discuss things rationally than end up with another Bruninho situation. The discussionless edit-merry-go-rounds are so frightfully dull. Frankly I can't believe any one is that determined to make little pointless edits over a slash and a space: if only their outlandish tenacity could be harnessed for the power of good! Ah well, it's only representative of football's vapid press coverage anyway... Sillyfolkboy (talk) 01:41, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
