Asmir Begovic.....
[edit]Hi, why do you keep changing the page for Asmir Begovic if you are not up to date with his career? he has changed his football citizenship from Canada to Bosnia. He's currently training with the Bosnian national team in Sarajevo. There are numerous photos if you need proof, here is one of them. http://www.reprezentacija.net/site/images/stories/ibisevicbegovic.jpg —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.36.175.47 (talk) 11:09, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit]the reason you use &ndash is that it is the correct html use for that character, if you don't it doesn't render correctly in all browsers. It is not correct for mathamatical formulas since it is not a minus sign but a long dash. Similarly a minus sign is not a long dash and should not but used as such in prose. [edit]Why did you remove maintenance tags on mass for these articles? Fasach Nua (talk) 06:13, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- You don't need to answer that, Hubschrauber. As I'm sure you are aware, Fasach Nua has been adding maintenance tags to articles unilaterally without any discussion with the wider community, so you did precisely the right thing. Fasach Nua, next time you feel like adding tags to articles en masse, please discuss it on the appropriate talk page. – PeeJay 18:03, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Assists of Goalkeepers in Bundesliga
[edit]For your information: I saw that you added to the articles of Manuel Neuer and René Adler that they are the only ones who had an assist in the 2007–08 Bundesliga season. Although you have a source for this, I have a source that Michael Rensing also got an assist (see [1]). As I watched the match with the assist of Michael Rensing, I am heavily in favor of my source and think that the the claim that they are the only ones with an assist is wrong. --Jaellee (talk) 20:20, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Charts
[edit]Hello. Well, that's another alternative you know. I just left a message in WikiProject Football proposing that the club performance charts shold be moved to the sub-section Club Career (you know, club with club, international with international). However, you have just proposed another idea: something like a section that could be called "Club and national team performance"... hmmm... well, why don't you join in on the discussion? The fact is that the All-time club performance chart and the international goals table should be arranged in a more logical way. Mannschaftskapitän (talk) 04:57, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- I Just saw the "Statistics" section that the article of Michael Ballack has. I think that this would make a great standard, don't you think?. Mannschaftskapitän (talk) 05:05, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- I updated the proposal in the WikiProject Football Talk. If you care to look go here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football, it is the last thread. Anyways I think that we won't have a quick answer, that if anyone cares to answer... As for now, I invite you to join to WikiProject Football if you aren't already in. It is better to leave Lahm and Schweni articles just the way they are so they can serve as models for a possible discussion but if you want to re-arrange them go ahead... your proposal is a good one. In fact, if the original proposal isn't even discussed or is rejected I myself will adopt the "Statistics" exclusive section format. Mannschaftskapitän (talk) 05:21, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
I see you have tagged numerous articles for speedy deletion without stating a valid basis. I am going to remove all of these tags. Though there may be some that do meet some criterion, such as CSD A7, the one I just declined met none. Your stated basis of "Hasn't made fully professional appearance yet" is not a valid CSD basis. Generally, if you can't apply a specific tag under a specific criterion, you're probably asking for speedy deletion on an invalid basis. The generic speedy deletion template, {{db}}, has legitimate uses, but they are rare.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 05:42, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit]My point was that because he meets WP:BIO it doesn't matter if he doesn't strictly meet WP:ATHLETE - and that there are many, many people who meet WP:BIO without meeting WP:ATHLETE.
Although I think he does meet the intent WP:ATHLETE, as there are references that indicate he has been signed with the intent of playing on Norwich City's first team. Nfitz (talk) 22:52, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
- Any time I've tried to use Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Notability in an AfD discussion, I've been shouted down that it's just an essay and hasn't been accepted by the community at large. Turkish prods
[edit]I'm afraid I've just deleted 3 out of 6 of new Turkish prods. Korcan Çelikay, Yusuf Soysal, and Fevzi Elmas. All appeared notable for reasons given in the edit summaries. I don't think any would survive an AfD, 2 of them had versions in other languages - and all had first or second tier appearances. The other 3 prods looked fine to me. Nfitz (talk) 06:56, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm, there was a 7th Miloš Mihajlov - but someone deleted him from WP:WikiProject Football#Nominations for deletion and page moves after removing the Prod. Is that kocher? Nfitz (talk) 07:01, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Danijel Subotić
[edit]I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Danijel Subotić, which you proposed for deletion, because I think that this article should not be deleted from Wikipedia. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!
He just transferred to Belgium and will play next season there at the highest level (professional) with Zulte-Waregem... so it's silly to delete it now as that league is starting in two weeks and the article will be re-created anyway. Famous players template
[edit]I understand that you have been engaged in a row for some time with Fasach Nua, but have you got any reason for the wholesale deletion of this template. It makes the perfectly valid observation that lists with no clear criteria for inclusion cannot be regarded as seriously encyclopaedic. Do you actually disagree with this contention, or is it purely personal conflict? Kevin McE (talk) 21:50, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- Your response on my talk page seems to suggest the latter. Do you think that lists with no inclusion criteria are encyclopaedic: yes or no? Do you think that the lack of clear criteria helps maintain a NPOV policy: yes or no? Kevin McE (talk) 22:06, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
- Your answers are still about Fasach Nua's method than any attempt to help him in improving the articles in question. What positive proposal have you got to make such sections fitting to an encyclopaedia? I would still appreciate your answer to the questions I have posed above. Kevin McE (talk) 09:18, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- But you are not allowing for any stipulation of a criterion that determines which players are to be included in such a section, and which are not. That is what makes these lists meaningless. Why should we be invited to read on, for example, the Italy page about Luigi Cevenini, but not about Armando Castellazzi. This is what makes the lists so susceptible to POV, and therefore unencyclopaedic. Do you serious want to argue for a free for all whereby any editor can add any footballer who has made appearance that they happen to like, and claim them as notable, by the standards of that team? Unless you want that, there should be a clear inclusion criteria, and that is all that FN has been asking for. Why do you not think there should be such? Kevin McE (talk) 22:39, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Please explain...
[edit]why would revert this without moving even it to the talk page? The editors that inserted this in the page seem that they have put in a lot of effort, and is quite unfair, at least to me, to see others revert everything without at least a minimal debate. Hi Hubschrauber729. Instead of edit-warring on the template (which is now transcluded in many places), could you possibly direct your discussion to the talk page where it would be best served in order to reach a consensus on the wording? Right now it's confusing to the editors looking at this "warning" with the phrasing changing drastically twice a day. Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:43, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- If you want a template to add to all notable players sections, then please make a seperate one to the one above. This is a very specific template relating to only those list without inclusion and exclusion criteria, it is not intended to be added in a blanket manor to all notable players sections as your version would suggest. CAÑIZARES - A question
[edit]Hi there HUBSCHRAUBER, VASCO here,
One question, my friend: I like to work as a team and, therefore, respect all other's work, unless they are downright vandals (in that case i don't respect them AT ALL and treat them accordingly).
Since i believe your edits were made in good faith, trying to help, i ask you: why did you remove, on SANTIAGO CAÑIZARES (Spanish footballer), a reference about him being kicked out of the squad by then-manager RONALD KOEMAN? I think it is important stuff, and if it was referenced...As i respect your work as i said before, i did not insert it again, leaving it as it was, but would like to see your points in this matter.

The Israeli Kobi Hassan
[edit]The name Ya'akov (or its short form Kobi) is clearly Jewish. That's why it is correct to be included in the categories Israeli Jews and Jewish footballers. Btw please check this article in that web site: http://72.14.205.104/search?q=cache:yKI5yS8TFpQJ:old.kh-uia.org.il/Crisisnew/kh_activi/Israel_Events/7.5.08.htm+%22Yaakov+Hassan%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=4&gl=ca You will find the exact name Yaakov Hassan, an employee in the Jewish Agency. And please check Hassan (surname) to see that the surname Hassan can be Jewish, Irish and Arabic.
(Yadamavu (talk) 23:42, 16 September 2008 (UTC))
But you also probably forgot that he was born in Israel. Where as we know the majority of the people are Jews. And the first name Yaakov clearly is not the Arabic version of the name. That's why we cannot count him as Israeli Arab (Palestinian). What background you think he has?
(Yadamavu (talk) 23:52, 16 September 2008 (UTC))
The first name Yaakov clearly is not the Arabic version of the name. The Arabic version of the name is Yaqub or Yakub. That's why based on the first name we can conclude that he is Jewish.
Based on his last name Hassan is difficult to say since it can be Irish, Arabic or Jewish.
(Yadamavu (talk) 23:58, 16 September 2008 (UTC))
David Abraham
[edit]I can see why why you don't think he's Jewish because he's from a mainly Catholic, Spanish-speaking nation, but he is. "David" - Common name all over the world but originated in Hebrew Israel. "Abraham" - Very Jewish name. I know that being Israeli doesn't necassarily mean that you are Jewish but when he's warming up before a match, he wears a necklace with a Star of David on it. Also, what do you mean by "how can you be of israeli descent, its not an ethnicity." Would you prefer "of Israeli origin" or something? - WölffReik —Preceding undated comment was added at 12:40, 19 September 2008 (UTC).
Michal Ballack
[edit]Hubschrauber, do you only allow for external links to Fussballdaten.de ? Michael Ballack recently a had a big announcement that he is blogging on Footbo.com This should be interesting enough for the community to know. Infoboxes
[edit]The reason why <br /> is used, rather than just <br>, is because if there's a long list of years without any breaking spaces, they go out past the right edge of the edit box and make it difficult for later editors to work on what is there. The guideline for using the infobox template can be found at Template:Infobox Football biography. Hope this helps, --Jimbo[online] 08:38, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Arjan Beqaj
[edit]Hi, Hubschrauber.
First time I've interacted with another member of wikipedia so apologies if I've broken a rule or am asking this question in the wrong area.
I don't use wikipedia a great deal, just update certain stats really.
I was updating the Albania (Mens National Soccer) team & came across the goalkeeper Arjan Beqaj.
The English account of the Albanian national team has him born on 20/8/75 however his profile lists it as 20/8/76.
In other languages it seems to vary as well.
For his own profile the German & French pages has him as born in '76
The Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Finnish & Albanian has it as '75
I'm not sure if there is an Albanian Soccer section where I can ask this question so I had a look at the history of his profile...and you seemed prevalent in the editing.
Do you know which age is correct? Thanks, Slater582

Jewish footballers
[edit]TBH I'm in agreement with NYCTLV - your removal of a lot of Israeli footballers from the Jewish footballers category shows a certain lack of knowledge on your part regarding the religious persuasion of Israelis - there probably aren't any citations out there to prove their Jewishness because there is simply no question about it (they very clearly are). пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:05, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

PROD
[edit]Please list the deletion of player in Wikipedia:WikiProject Football. 58.176.0.132 (talk) 15:04, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Hello. I removed the prod from this article because the player has appeared in more than 80 matches in the Croatian Druga HNL (second tier). He was also on the books of a first tier club, but I don't think he appeared in any cup matches for them. He definitely appeared in a cup match between a Druga HNL club and a Prva HNL club. I'm not sure he passes WP:ATHLETE, but he is pretty close so I thought it should go to AfD if the article is to be deleted. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 19:26, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Froylán Ledezma
[edit]Regarding your comment about the categories of Froylán Ledezma, over at WT:FOOTY: he's gotten so many categories because I'm in the middle of going through the expatriate footballers in the Dutch leagues. I've categorized all the current players in the Eredivisie and Eerste Divisie and all the past players of Ajax and Feyenoord. If you think that these expatriate categories should be deleted, please send it to WP:CFD. Like I've said at the WikiProject, I don't wanna waste time on something that the community doesn't want. Recent reverts
[edit]Hubschrauber729 (talk · contribs), hi, I'm an admin who's recently been scanning the revert-warring on some of the footballer articles. I should say up front that I really have no opinion one way or the other on which information goes into the articles, but I would like to see if there's a way to try and stabilize things to avoid the back and forth revert-warring. I see that you've been doing a lot of reverting lately, but you rarely seem to be explaining why you're reverting, per Wikipedia:Dispute resolution. I do acknowledge that you've been using some edit summaries from time to time, but I'd like to nudge people more towards talkpage discussions, since these reverts have been going on for awhile. So, in the future, could I ask you to please try to participate a bit more at the talkpages of these articles? This is helpful for many reasons: To try and open a dialogue towards finding a compromise, and it is also helpful for administrators who are reviewing the situation, to try and figure out what corrective measures may be needed. Thanks in advance for your help, --Elonka 20:43, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed you tagged this article for proposed deletion. I had thought to do the same a few months ago, but checked the TFF website and found that he had played briefly in the TFF First League (Turkish second tier). I believe this level is fully professional, so I never prod'ed the article. Unless you have a source which indicates that level is semi-professional, I plan to remove the prod so it can go to AfD where more users who know the status of the league can weigh in. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 20:41, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I don't believe there is a source indicating that the TFF First League is not fully professional, just that we knew the Super Lig was fully professional (so it is the only tier listed). Accordingly, I think this should go to AfD where we can get a definitive answer from some of the Turkish users (I don't know for sure). Hope you don't take offense. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 20:46, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Also, I wanted to let you know I removed the prod from Mert Somay for the same reason (he played in the TFF First League - briefly). Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 20:51, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
Ma, come hai fatto?
[edit]Hubschrauber:
Though, true, most Italian-Argentines listed as such on Wikipedia were done so without explicit references to the fact, their inclusion in the category was done as a matter of common sense; the merest Google query on any of those last names would clear up any doubts as to the subjects' Italian background.
Please, understand that, though your objections were raised on logical grounds, your insistence on them may constitute patent nonsense, then.
So, arrivederlo, Hubschrauber, and Felice Anno Nuovo, eh? Let's hope it's better than the one that just went by.

About Hakan Yakın
[edit]About Hakan Yakın. There is nothing wrong in writing the correct spelling of his name in brackets. Even questioning this is stupid and a sign of ignorance. Being a sole Swiss citizen is not important and has nothing to do with it by correctly adding his correct Turkish name. Do not insist Mr. Hubsrauber. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Saguamundi (talk • contribs) 20:06, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Azar Karadaş
[edit]I added the Turkish pronunciation of Azar Karadaş (Turkish: Azar Karadash) His player name is spelled as Azar Karadas (as the letter Ş/ş does not exist in Norwegian). But his surname is Karadaş. Because he is also a Turkish citizen and as it is the (correct) way written in his Turkish passport and Turkish I.D. Card. His orginal name should stay even as a player his name is not spelled that way, as I just mentioned the reasons (the absence of that letter in Norwegian) above. Letters used in Norwegian Æ, Ø, Å, æ, ø, å etc. and Norwegian place names and personal names are also not spelled at all in any foreign country and sources. But since this is Wikipedia and a source of "correct information", original letters of any language should be put in Wikipedia articles (Even if it is in brackets). Saguamundi (talk

- And now your reverting Bülent Akın when the article states that he is of Turkish descent. What is your problem? Turco85 (Talk) 23:16, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Then why don’t you give people a chance to source it? They are all obviously from a foreign background. You do know this. :If they were a Kurd or some other ethnic group descending from Turkey, I assure you that they would most likely be written as such by wikipedians of that descent. And now you have reverted Yasin Karaca? Are you serious? The national team he played for was Turkey and thus would even have Turkish nationaliy. Turco85 (Talk) 23:24, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm going to have to now revert you. First Yasin Karaca and now Aziz Sağlam are BOTH members of the Turkey national football team. Therefore, they are not only Turkish descendants but also have the nationality. Turco85 (Talk) 23:28, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, if you look at the article history I only added Belgians of Turkish descent not Dutch people of Turkish descent so please do not accuse me of something which I did not do. Turco85 (Talk) 23:52, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- But anyway, carry on. Turco85 (Talk) 23:53, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Again you are incorrect, I removed the Dutch category and added the Belgian. Is there something wrong with you? Turco85 (Talk) 23:55, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Do whatever you want. I cannot be bothered to argue with somebody who cannot see that a person born in Belgium who plays for Turkey's national team is not a Turk. And Atiye Deniz is half Dutch and you have no right to judge that... but again, I cannot be bothered with you. Do as you please. Turco85 (Talk) 23:59, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Re: Bundesliga standings
[edit]As I understand it, the lettering was inserted by the WikiProject as a bonus for those who suffer from visual impairments such as color blindness. A bolded letter is much better to recognize than blue or red text on colored background, especially blue or red, thus the letter is added. Another point for the addition is that the team in first position are not necessarily the champions of the league, for example if a decision match has to be played.
By the way, you might want to have a look at both User:Soccer-holic/League season article and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football#Season article guideline proposal, your comment would be more than appreciated... --Soccer-holicI hear voices in my head... 23:44, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

"descent" is not a place of birth!
[edit]Stop adding nonsense about Michael Klukowski being of Austrian descent. If he was of Austrian descent, then surely he would have mentioned it in an interview, don't you think? But he only mentions being of Polish descent. Please note that in the English language "descent" refers to someone's parentage, not a simple place of birth. So, unless you can find some evidence that one of his parents is Austrian, "Canadians of Austrian descent" is not an inappropriate category for this person.173.206.66.121 (talk) 08:59, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
How many times do I have to explain this to you? Neither of Klukowski's parents are Austrian therefore he is not of Austrian descent! Here is another article: It says Austria was nothing more than a brief stopover for the family. http://www.dziennik.pl/sport/pilkanozna/article483411/On_bylby_lepszy_od_Boenischa.html?service=print As I've explained above, descent is not a simple place of birth. If it was that simple, the footballer Shaun Maloney would be classified as being of Malaysian descent, the Polish tennis player Urzula Radwanska of German descent, oh and Horst Kohler of Polish descent! Why do you think none of these categories have been added? Because it would be nonsense, in English "descent" relates to lineage.173.206.11.41 (talk) 00:35, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Che succede qui?
[edit]Hubschrauber:
Well, sorry, but unless the article states otherwise (which wouldn't happen, since in Argentina you cannot change your birth name, and if a stage name is used, it's public knowledge and stated in the article), an Italian last name will warrant that category.
It's true, some of those articles do not specifically list a source attesting to the subjects' Italian heritage; but some things are patent facts, and can be proven with the merest Google query. This is all the more so in the case of a country were half the population is of primarily Italian descent (and I'm not even counting those with a Spanish last name, but with an Italian-Argentine mother). Please note, also, that I never go into articles on German people, or on those of German descent in the Americas, to start quarreling about whether not they may-or-may-not-be, in fact, Deustch.
By the way, President Arturo Frondizi's Italian heritage WAS sourced, and if you're curious, both his parents were from Umbria (quite beautiful and serene, as you probably know). Try that again, and I'll report you as a troublemaker to a positive and constructive Irish administrator I'm acquainted with, and who knows I don't kid around on Wikipedia. Please, don't bother others over trivial points that can be disproven any day of the week.
If for no other reason, the situation you're in with the editor above should be enough to persuade you.

HELP!!
[edit]Hi there HUBSCHRAUBER, VASCO from Portugal here (well, not exactly here),
I would like for your assistance on this matter: i have seen some of the edits made by your countryman, User:Zombie433, which i find very subpar, and brought it to his attention: he constantly overlinks, he writes in present tense in an encyclopedia, etc. I wrote him two polite messages, with pertinent wikilinks and examples, he removed them immediately and did not answer anything (edit history be blessed!).
I also see that he has done that to several users, and he writes ZERO edit summaries. Could it be due to language problems? No offense, but his English level is very poor (although his user page shows a "level 4"). So, i would very much appreciate your help in this matter, all for the good of the site.
Please let me know if you get any reply, thank you very much in advance (by the way, cool user page :)),
VASCO - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 02:51, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply man. Regarding my edits in Mathias Schober, i always open club links in storyline and compress them in charts or BOX (i.e. i thought Hamburger in those would be sufficient - full name in storyline only), but don't worry, i won't revert your approach.
Cheers, alles gut, VASCO - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 03:22, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit]Hi there HUBSCHRAUBER, VASCO "here",
Regarding this message/discussion (please see here http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Juliancolton#Help_.28redirected.29.), i would really like for you to send User:Zombie433 a briefing, you can say it's from me - my German skills are not enough in a "conversation" where i would like to ALL points to me made very clear. PLEASE, don't forget to speak to him about his excessive overlinking, his talk in tense (in an encyclopedia it's past, not present tense).
He says he is a level 4 in his talk page, he is not. He also has the custom of removing messages THE MINUTE they arrive in his page. However, today he received a message from a German-speaking user and replied (see here http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Edwinvandersar). I feel it's a total lack of respect for all the other users he simply ignores (if he is indeed a level 4 in English!).
If he replies to you, i would like to receive some feedback man. If he removes the message and does not answer back, never mind then. P.S. What on earth is this (http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Azrack_Mahamat&diff=353321008&oldid=353173737) and this (http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Jordi_Figueras_Montel&diff=344796041&oldid=344796003)?!?

The article Dominik Schmidt has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
This is in the neighborhood of A7, depending on where you draw the line for "credible". There's basically nothing in here that qualifies as a bona fide source, much less a reliable one. Likely autobiographical. Likely advertorial.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
