Use of Philippines Map.
Hello, I would like to discuss the use of your Regions and Providences map (I am aware of the license but I have a couple of additional questions.) If there is a way to contact you directly let me know (I'm guessing that posting E-Mails here isn't a good idea. I am a total newbie when it comes to community interaction in Wikipedia)
Thank you, Wjkrape (talk) 17:26, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
I am editing a video for a charity organization based in the Philippines and I wanted to make double sure your maps are okay to modify and use in the film. I have read and reread the license and I will be sure to include a reference as the piece will be distributed more than 100 times (hopefully.) Also I just wanted to make sure you were aware of this use and are okay with it (no matter how free the license.) Thanks. (edit, forgot to login) Wjkrape (talk) 20:05, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

question
Just a random survey, you are saying here that years should never be linked? -- Kendrick7talk 04:10, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- No. I'm saying that dates (not years) should almost never (not absolutely never) be linked. --seav (talk) 04:36, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the feedback. -- Kendrick7talk 04:44, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- Addendum: I have no opinion yet for the year links. --seav (talk) 04:53, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
Sorry for the repetitive question, but I am a bit confused. You think that date fragments and most other chronological items (e.g. March 6 or Sunday) are not useful, but you have no opinion on year links, correct? Dabomb87 (talk) 04:57, 13 February 2009 (UTC)- What matters to me is his opinion when he voted support and what he believed he was voting in support of. Badgering him now won't change that. -- Kendrick7talk 05:07, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- I am not badgering him; I hadn't even looked at the RfC or his !vote. However, it seems that my question will reveal nothing new so I will strike it. Dabomb87 (talk) 05:09, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

Your message.
Yes, I am that too. Thanks for the notification. I am aware of that. I created another account so that I can continue to edit the pages I created. I just want to know if ever I transfer the concepts I put from my old user name will affect my new account? Thanks again.
- Anyway, Against all odds version by Westlife and Mariah Carey is truly a good music. Hear it. ^_^ xoxo --I heart CE! (talk) 13:15, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Good day.
I was supposed to reply to your message earlier than expected but I am sorry about this. First and foremost, you sent me a message telling that supposedly, I am User:Johnlemartirao, which I gratefully responded telling that I am that user, to prevent further grounds. I also tell you that I am aware that I should never and must never remove the blocking template applied to my user page since it will serve as grounds for another account blocking. I'm afraid it might happen, though I can edit my old user page and remove all blocking templates, I still have the heart not to do so. I then believed that everything might end up there.
Furthermore, I was surprised to see your message. I thank you again for the notification. But I'm afraid to say that the way you boldfaced the word "understanding" turned out to be offensive. I know you know all extremes here in Wikipedia, but please, even though you did and still doing good things and edits here in Wikipedia, still practice humility.
I know why my account was blocked, and that was due about disruptive editing. I believe you do understand what I want to figure out on the reasons I stated on my old talk page, and it turns out that they misinterpreted what I try to say. At the end of each posts, I apologize for bad grammars in the reason line, but they decline my request saying that "there are many non-English speakers that uses Wikipedia, and you are not an exemption". How come up? They keep on insisting that I should remain unblock because of that apology. Plus, I strongly believe that I provided reasons, that is, I said that I do not know that administrators are the only person who have the right to use that template. I do not know what valid reason they wanted me to point out, since this is the only reason and "behinds" I knew about the use of that template. And from this point of view, and the results of permanently protecting the talk page by using the unblock template over and over again without any unblocking action, I cannot further restore all the required thingies by using the same account. I hope you understand this. Please look to my statement as a whole, and not just like the administrator who didn't took it very keen. (I am not accusing them).--I heart CE! (talk) 12:14, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
PS. I can't figure out how the idea came to your mind that I am also User:Johnlemartirao. What if two different individuals from two different continents share the fields of interest in editing and with the same degree in college, will be the same person?--I heart CE! (talk) 12:14, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
- I won't take your messages to me as heart breaking words. I will take it as an advice from an older brother and from a more senior editor here in Wikipedia. Thanks for the advice again and to your instincts.--I heart CE! (talk) 09:44, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

NowCommons: File:Metro manila map.png
File:Metro manila map.png is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Metro manila map (1).png. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Metro manila map (1).png]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 23:43, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi
I do not know what is happening here, because we had an agreement with the blocker who blocked my account. Thanks. Have a nice Holy Week. The Wandering Traveler (talk) 14:09, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- And another, please do not make grounds for further blockage of my new user account. I have promised to whoever may block me that I shall not do it evident from my user talk page. I haven't been involved to any disruptive edits since I've changed. I hope you understand my side. Please assume good faith. Thanks. I do not want to fight. You also created the old user name that was supposed to be deleted to serve as bait for further blockage. Thanks. God bless.--The Wandering Traveler (talk) 07:53, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
- You misunderstand me. I just placed a note there on the old user page so that there is a greater transparency. Like it or not, there is a connection between your old user account and your new user account that I am just making that fact clear and up front. I am not pushing for blocking or banning you. --seav (talk) 09:54, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Misjudegement of User:Petersantos?
This user was indefinitely blocked for sock puppetry, I know he did used multiple accounds. But his edits were not vandalism. He is editing a very controversial article about a Filipino preacher, Eliseo Soriano. I really belive his block was only pushed by a POV editor (who was already warned to stop here POV edits) who is against the opinion of that user. Please check if it is possible to reduce his block time. (I am very sorry for not logging in, because their "going after me" too.)222.127.223.69 (talk) 03:13, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Ph_seal_camarines_sur.png
Thanks for uploading File:Ph_seal_camarines_sur.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:46, 11 July 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 01:46, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Rename
Hello. Just a suggestion on your move of List of power plants in the Philippines. It doesnt really matter whether a country uses AmE or BrE. "Power Station" is a more formal term used. For instance, this list is the only one with "plant" in the title, including all US-related lists too. Although, i dont really have a problem with the name, just like to see it identical. Regards. Rehman(+) 14:05, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. I'm just going by this renaming precedent: Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2009 May 26#Category:Power_stations_in_the_Philippines. This also suggests that the lists for the United States should also be renamed. --seav (talk) 14:17, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- I understand. No harm done. Not really opposing, but i think it is advisable to launch a discussion before carrying out the rename of other articles. Dont you think? Regards. Rehman(+) 14:28, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Open Street Map
Hi. I've done a lot of work to making pin maps on wikipedia from OpenStreetMap, recently I created en:Template:Location map Norway Oslo actually to display landmarks!! However I just came across the geohack on German wiki. When you click the geo globe on German wiki now it features on the open street map at different zoomable levels without having to leave the site. This would absolustely ideal for english wikipedia and end a long term disagreement over set pin maps and to provide the option for zoomable maps iwthin wikipedia itself. Could you please import the technology they are using on German wikipedia to display open street maps within the wiki site itself. This would be perfect and would mean we could probably not bother with the city pins. Would it be possible to display these zoomable open street maps within article infoboxes themselves? An example. See Harris Theater. If we had the zoomable open street map within the infobox theatre we would not need that pin locator. By default there could be none but a "Click map" option within the infobox. When you click it, it would then display the open street map zoomable as shown here [here. Can you do this? It would be extremely beneficial to us. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:18, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:32, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Autopatrolled
Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:
- This permission does not give you any special status or authority
- Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
- You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
- If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
- If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 14:02, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

Wikimedia Stories Project
My name is Victor Grigas and I'm a Storyteller at the Wikimedia Foundation. We're exploring new ways to explain why Wikipedia is so special and we’ve started a Wikipedia Stories Project, where we’re chronicling the inspiring stories of the Wikipedia community, especially editors and active contributors in the movement like you. I'll be traveling to Wikimania next month to collect stories for our 2011 Fundraiser. While there I'd love the chance to meet with you and hear your thoughts about Wikipedia. We’ll have a schedule of available times for you to sign up if you’re interested, but right now, we’d like to make the initial contact to gauge your interest. Please let me know by emailing me at vgrigas@wikimedia.org or responding on my talk page.

Wikimania Scholars
Dear Seav,
I work on the Global Development team at Wikimedia Foundation. The Wikimedia Foundation aims to promote Wikimania 2012 and encourage contributors to apply for scholarship opportunities for next year’s event. You have been selected as one of the people I'd like to feature in a short bio write-up because of the areas you've greatly contributed to the Wiki-ecosystem. Based on the survey you filled out agreeing to provide your insight on the experience, I drafted a short write-up from your submission. As mentioned on the survey, the goal of the bio is to make the scholarship selection process more transparent by providing examples of the types of candidates who have been selected in the past.
If you would be so kind as to:
1) confirm that we may feature your bio by emailing me at syap at wikimedia.org
- We would only list your Username (not your full name).
2) Review your bio below and submit any edits to it
3) Confirm that it’s fine to post a picture with your bio
4) (Optional) share a photo with me (syap at wikimedia.org), personal or one taken at Wikimania (via Commons with the link) by November 24th, 2011 (Thursday), that would be great (the sooner the better). Thank you for contributions to the community and helping us make this a greater global resource!
Feel free to review this and let me know if you have any questions (via email)!

Best Wikimania Memory and Thoughts for the Future:
“(Wikimania) provided a lot of inspiration and ideas that I can now share and hopefully implement in my country. The local chapter continues to involve various activities related to promoting the Wikimedia projects in the Philippines. I’d like to help improve the organizational capacity of Wikimedia Philippines. By building the local chapter, we hope to implement exciting projects and activities to promote Wikimedia projects in the Philippines. Hopefully, Wikimedia can expand the program so that it can reach many more participants in the developing world. Although the factors leading to that result might not be because of the scholarship program itself (such as visa problems), I saw limited representation from the African countries in Wikimania 2011.”

Hi! Do you do photo requests for Metro Manila? If so, I was wondering if you could take a photo of the Philippine National Bank Financial Center (Pres. Due to Commons:Commons:Freedom_of_panorama#Philippines, if the building has very unique architecture, it may be wise to locally upload the images to EN.

Gazetteer
Each location in Phils can have several differing names. The trick is to pick the right one. I have search in vain online for a proper gazetteer, and although NCSB aserts it submitted one to the UN, I cannot see it online (nor does NSCB website contain any valid pointers - many links are broken, and email bounced). While I agree that it would be pointless to include a page for each barangay, there is some basic information I'd like to see (within the municipality page): I can extract barangay populations from the census report, but it does not show land area, although this is given at municipality level. In the case that one barangay extends over more than one small island, I would also like to see that info (population and land area) by island.
I thought I'd check out wikipilipinas, because the adverts speak so highly. That is pretty dire - the pages I checked were mostly copies of old wikipedia pages. In addition it was not possible to edit anything. So I think that it is basically dead, or at best moribund.
Where do you think I could find the info I seek? John of Cromer in China (talk) mytime: Monday 11:35:47 03:35, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
