DYK for Milton Loch
On 23 December 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Milton Loch, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the crannogs of Milton Loch, although similar in design, span a time period of around 1,000 years? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Milton Loch. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Milton Loch), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Noel Gallagher edit
Hi.
Unsure how my edit was unconstructive. It can be evidenced from early recordings and their first full gig televised.
NG is infamous for providing mistruth to the press on all subjects so cannot be cited as credible by account. You cannot finish the way he has always done, from the earliest Oasis recordings in existence without the use of delay, and it's obviously a Roland Space Echo, and can be seen, as mentioned on their first televised recording. 2A02:C7F:CE2F:3200:55FA:51FF:6A51:F2BC (talk) 15:17, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
Hi there, thanks for reaching out to me. If you want to add information, please cite your sources. Unsourced statements will sometimes be removed. Also, the way your edit was written was basically berating the encyclopedia, which is disruptive editing. You also seem to be a misunderstanding the text; the Roland space echo is an effects unit, not a pedal. The article explicitly mentions effects pedals. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 15:22, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
Why did you remove my edit
You reverted my edit about Gay-Neck the Pigeon for vandalism, for seemingly no reason, I had only elaborated on the plot of the book.
If I broke any rule, do please tell me what I did to avoid further repercussion 169.139.16.91 (talk) 18:14, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- You did not "elaborate" on the book's plot. You changed it to talk about Fortnite. Last time I heard, Fortnite wasn't around in the 1920s. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 18:16, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

On 8 January 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kamibox, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Toon X TV
Hello I'm still very confused by what I'm looking at and don't know if there are DMs or not here and don't even know if I'm typing this in the right spot but I've seen some stuff about not being able to work on the Toon X TV wiki because I work for the company. I'll get better associated with the Terms that disallow such a thing. I thought since I knew all the proper information it would make more sense for someone with that information to run the page. Chrisvalentin92 (talk) 19:45, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Chris. On Wikipedia, people with close connections to a person or organization are strongly discouraged from editing about it. Generally, if you want to make changes to the subject's article you must declare a conflict of interest (COI). You may then propose edits to the article indirectly.
- Good reading for this is the Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.
- Thanks for reaching out to me. Talk pages are the right place to ask questions, although there is a specialized place for that as well. If you want help at any time, post a topic at the Teahouse. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 19:50, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. I wasn't aware of the COI rules I just created my account today when I saw Toon X had a draft and got excited by the thought of us having a wiki page. If I understand properly I should have disclosed my involvement with the company publicly and suggested the changes in a "talk" about the page. Chrisvalentin92 (talk) 20:01, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
Yes exactly. Feel free to do that. If you still feel like editing, Wikipedia is free to edit for everyone, so you can edit another page to help advance the encyclopedia. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 20:16, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- Should I go in and remove everything I added to it or make a suggestion that I be removed? Chrisvalentin92 (talk) 20:20, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
I'll clear that up for you. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 20:21, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for all your help, Schminnte. Chrisvalentin92 (talk) 20:23, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
You're very welcome. Speaking from experience, Wikipedia can be confusing at first. But, if you adjust to the way things are done here, you might find it can be a very rewarding hobby. Happy editing in the future Chris. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 20:25, 13 January 2023 (UTC)

Ranton, Joshua Bell
Josh bell used to live in Ranton it’s on his birth certificate, he now lives in Liverpool and works as a BMS like I stated, check the HCPC register for evidence LFCMATT1996 (talk) 19:40, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
It was more the fact that you mentioned his "favourite game", which seemed a bit suspicious. Can you cite a reference that shows that Bell is from Ranton? I've found the HCPC register here ([1]) but that doesn't show it. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 19:52, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
@LFCMATT1996: I've removed it again, please only add back when you have correctly referenced your information. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 19:54, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
The HCPC registration shows he’s a scientist, he only lived in Ranton as a child, so how can he provide evidence? LFCMATT1996 (talk) 20:00, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
Can you provide evidence he’s not from Ranton? LFCMATT1996 (talk) 20:00, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
I’m sorry for mentioning his favourite game, that was some light hearted humor, but how can he prove he has lived there as a child? LFCMATT1996 (talk) 20:03, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
@LFCMATT1996: It's not whether I can prove he didn't, it's if you can cite a source showing he does. Please cite your reference in the article. (The HCPC register that I found there says nothing of Bell's birthplace.) Schminnte (talk • contribs) 20:06, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
He was born in Stafford, can I change the article to born in Stafford raised in Ranton? LFCMATT1996 (talk) 20:08, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
Do you have a source for that? If you don't have a source, please don't add it. See WP:OR Schminnte (talk • contribs) 20:09, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

It would be very suitable for a WP:DYK but the reason I'm commenting is to mention that you should also add something to the chess.com article, probably using the {{main}} template together with a brief summary of your new article cited to its best sources. Hey there! I trust you're well?
Hey bud I was wondering since you're really good at musician articles. Could you write one up on this soulful music producer whom I discovered on Facebook? (@bmajor99) He has the verification so im assuming his an upcoming celebrity.
I found some articles on him via the name search B Major SA maybe it could be enough to be a sub article? 2C0F:F4C0:208B:2F74:946D:CF00:EB91:685B (talk) 16:52, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hi 2C0F:F4C0:208B:2F74:946D:CF00:EB91:685B, unfortunately I will have to decline this one. A few searches show some websites but none would count as reliable or independent, failing Wikipedia:GNG. The subject also seems to not fall under any criteria supplied at Wikipedia:MUSICBIO. It should be noted that topics that are "going to be notable" shouldn't have an article until they are notable, per Wikipedia:CRYSTAL.
- So no, I'm not going to create the article. Sorry for any disappointment and happy editing, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 17:06, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- I found some articles links online that might help? I saw the guy also had a huge Controversy with a Southern African rapper name Youngsta CPT who by chance I found a Wikipedia article of when searching B Major. Mr B has 2 Music Award Nominations, what would be enough for me to write a sub of any musician in future? Cause I already got a list of names I'm looking into putting on wiki.

- I wasn't aware of these websites. I'll put down something below for each:
- Link 1: Interviews are primary sources and are not used to access notability (can be used for some information though)
- Link 2 and 3 (bundled as by same outlet): Link 2 is a good start, a little short but it is independent and reliable. Link 3 should be discounted as a bit of research shows it is a widely published autobiography (most likely originating from https://sites.google.com/view/bmajor/home, a self-published website)
- Link 4 and 5: Both of these links seem to be good, both discuss the same controversy between B Major and Youngsta CPT.
- Overall, sources 1 (as long as not used to establish notability), 2, 4 and 5 look fine.
- If you want my honest opinion, for now I think that if you (or I) was to make an article on B Major it would be deleted pretty quickly due to a lack of notability beyond the controversy. If you really want to include the information somewhere, I think the best course of action would be to add a "controversy" section to YoungstaCPT because that is what the reporting is mainly on. Some limited biographical details might be added for context. I would recommend this route over creating a draft article for now, the subject might be one to watch for the future. Thanks for replying and I hope you take my advice, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 18:01, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
On the Nord Stream article
Hi there, sorry I had to undo your revert on Nord Stream. I looked into the article's editing history and the IP user you reverted and warned actually had the right call in removing the blatantly biased/one-sided info added by another user, which didn't reflect the consensus on the main article of the sabotage. PritongKandule-✉️📝 18:16, 12 February 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry about that @PritongKandule, all I saw was a removal of referenced content. You were quite right to revert me there: looking back at the edits now I can see that the content added was very heavily biased. I guess I wasn't seeing the bigger picture.

Don't understand 'vandalism' reference. The article describes the vehicle is unpowered ("The weapon consists of a large rocket booster that carries the unpowered Common-Hypersonic Glide Body (C-HGB)"
but also refers to 'ignition' ("The test of an All-Up-Round for CPS, which uses a two-stage booster * * * failed before ignition of the C-HGB.").
Maybe you meant 'release' instead of 'ignition,' but if you meant 'ignition' it seems to me that everyone would understand that as describing the vehicle as 'powered.' Is there a plausible alternate meaning that I do not grasp?
I think I was earlier, and have been today, constructive and civil in tone. If you have any response I'd be pleased to hear it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:6000:FFC0:62:9451:7A68:4DE1:A789 (talk) 17:06, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Hey @Schminnte! Just checking in, how are you doing?
I was recently just reading some talk pages and looking around Wikipedia when I found that the user Moops was blocked. I was under the impression that they were a very trusted user, and when I was just starting out here, I wanted to make edits like them. I recently read the policy Wikipedia:Ignore all rules, wouldn’t that apply here?
I was also recently granted the reviewer right, any tips?
Nice to talk to you again,

- Hi again @Illusion Flame. I'm fine, just doing some copyediting, CSD tagging and article improvement stuff just now. Tips for being a reviewer: I don't have many but I have these:
- 1: Quality over quantity: make sure that the edits you are allowing are constructive and don't accept something that you don't understand. Someone more familiar with the subject will come along and review the edit if you are unsure, after all, there are almost 8,000 of us.

- As for Moops being blocked, it has been quite a shock for a lot of people, as you can see from the conversation on their talkpage. While I am no policy expert, I don't think IAR applies here. Sockpuppetry is quite a serious offence and while I obviously haven't seen the CheckUser evidence, a block to a (like you say) respected account would be taken with caution as it could drive people away from the project if the accusations are false. So, unfortunately, I am inclined to agree that Moops should be blocked for now. It is sad; I also looked up to Moops quite a lot when I was beginning as they seemed to be a new comer as well, but now I'm not so sure. I sincerely hope that they, whoever they truly are, will take the Standard offer and return to edit later on. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 21:42, 10 March 2023 (UTC)
- I also hope they take the offer you have talked about. Thanks for the tips too, I have installed the script.

- I am not super familiar with Sock puppet investigations, I tried to report one once through Twinkle and completely messed it up! Altered speedy deletion rationale: User:Kanye Is The Stallion/sandbox
Hello Schminnte, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I deleted User:Kanye Is The Stallion/sandbox, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, under a different criterion from the one you provided. The speedy deletion criteria are extremely narrow and specific, and the process is more effective if the correct criterion is used. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 17:14, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry about that @Ivanvector: I'm usually very good at determining CSD categories. For future reference, could you please explain why that page didn't fall under G3 for me? Thanks, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 17:17, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- Nothing wrong with your tag, the template message is a bit aggressive. You had flagged this as a hoax or blatant vandalism, and it probably was, but it was definitely misuse of Wikipedia as a web host. I just switched to the criterion that I thought best fit, a lot of admins wouldn't bother. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 19:42, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation. I'll keep your advice in mind for the future. Thanks, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 19:53, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

Mentorship question
@Tails Wx and Blaze Wolf: Today I got a notification on my watchlist inviting me to sign up as a mentor. As I we have interacted before and I saw that you both were on the list, could you please explain what this involves and if I should sign up? This is posted here on my talk just for a central location. Thanks, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 15:46, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
- Well, there's a couple points: Wikipedia:Mentorship states
Mentorship is an arrangment in which one user assists another user.
So, it's like assisting people. Mentorship also involves helping newcomers, and the newcomers can ask you on how to edit, or for assistance! Now, to become a mentor, you need a minimum of 500 edits and 90 days on Wikipedia, which you pass! A significant portion of your edits should also be in mainspace, which, uh...according to XTools, you've made 50.8%, which I think you "technically pass"! You can also check out Wikipedia:Growth Team features/Mentor list for a bit more information! So, according to all this data, I think you are eligible to sign up! I don't know where's Blaze, though...he hasn't been on for a full day, which I think is unusual...but I'm sure he'll be back! Tails Wx 16:04, 14 April 2023 (UTC)- Thanks for that. I'll wait to see if Blaze has anything to say before I sign up, so I'll wait a day. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 16:33, 14 April 2023 (UTC)

Autopatrolled
Hi Schminnte, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.
Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.
Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:54, 25 April 2023 (UTC)

- Of course! Simple English Wikipedia is the same thing as English Wikipedia, but with a specific word list. You can only write content in simple words. Question from Twenty Two Taphouse (03:30, 6 May 2023)
Hii. I would like to create a page as a Wikipedia article. Twenty two taphouse is a restaurant. Is there any guide that i can follow? Thanks --Twenty Two Taphouse (talk) 03:30, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Twenty Two Taphouse, a good guide to check out would be WP:YFA. I would not reccomend this though, as it would be an uphill battle for reasons I will lay out below.
- First off, after a quick search, I couldn't find any independent reliable sources that could be used in a future article. This makes it unlikely that Twenty Two Taphouse meets our guidelines on notability for companies (Wikipedia:NCORP and Wikipedia:Notability, so creating an article would be a challenge. More importantly, please keep in mind that editors are strongly discouraged from editing articles related to their work or other close-by topics (Wikipedia:CoI). In addition, if you are an employee of the restaurant, paid editing must be disclosed in accordance with our terms of service (WP:PAID). Please also look at the instructions I will leave on your talkpage regarding your username: on Wikipedia, we have rules against usernames that imply use by a company (WP:ORGNAME).
- I hope this clears anything up. Please follow these guidelines (especially WP:PAID and WP:CoI) if you are thinking about writing an article. I realise I am chucking around a lot of links, but be assured that these are important reading for managing a COI when trying to create an article. If you have any more questions, please contact me here using this talk page. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 07:55, 6 May 2023 (UTC)

Question from AVAVAYA (14:05, 2 May 2023)
Hello :-)
I have read
- https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Help:Introduction (WP:I)
- https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Contributing_to_Wikipedia (WP:CTW)
- https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Help:Your_first_article (WP:YFA)
- https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:User_access_levels#Autoconfirmed_and_confirmed_users (especially WP:AUTOCONFIRM)
... and loads other.
However, I am bit confused wrt what the quickest way to obtain my goal: Publish a wikipedia page on a professor I am a fan of.
I do not feel like doing edits (and delete them again) just to "earn street credibility" (I can't think of anything I want to change - blatant errors or the like - and besides I regard such back-and-forth editing as kind of polluting the history track of serious pages... and I much to respectful of others work to mess with it).
The "right way" to go about it - the Articles for Creation process - doesn't seem appealing. WP:YFA states "Please note that the backlog is long (currently, there are 4,079 pending submissions; it often takes months)".
I suppose it doesn't help to do a draft
I read somewhere on Wikipedia that I shouldn't be afraid of contributing. Well, I am not, but I am kind of discouraged ... 🫤 --AVAVAYA (talk) 14:05, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @AVAVAYA, I'm sorry you're feeling that way. There is another way that you could do this, but I'll need more information before I reccomend it. Could you tell me the name of this professor? Also, do you have any connection to them, as you say this is your only goal? Schminnte (talk • contribs) 14:12, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Schminnte
- Thanks for reaching out :-) And so quickly too.
- The professor is Thomas Sinkjær https://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Sinkj%C3%A6r
- I can honestly say I have no relation. I take an interest in polio (my dad suffered from it) and Mr. Sinkjær has done some outstanding research in that field. I think he deserves some more credit. That's all.
- Best regards AVAVAYA (talk) 15:18, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- @AVAVAYA, I've done some research, and I believe that they are notable for Wikipedia per point 6 of Wikipedia:NPROF (I would recommend reading the entire guideline, it makes some important points). So, you should be able to go ahead and start a draft at Draft:Thomas Sinkjær (click to create). I found some promising references as well: [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]. If you need a sort of template to write an article, maybe base some of them off of the articles I've written on IEEE fellows? You can find them on my userpage. I would still reccomend a thorough reading of WP:YFA Once you are finished, message me on my talk page again and I'll help you move it into mainspace after I have a look over it. I hope this helps. Happy editing! Schminnte (talk • contribs) 16:06, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you so much Schminnte ♥ AVAVAYA (talk) 07:40, 3 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Schminnte
- Now I have done my best to make a decent page out of Draft:Thomas Sinkjær
- I looked carefully at the pages you suggested, especially tried to “reverse engineer” on your page on Michael Eismann to figure out how you did it. Very helful, thank you 😊
- I have some concerns:
- 1) I think I have maybe overdone the citations’ part a bit – in some cases I have sort of double up (notes 7,8) – completely different authors, sources and wording though, but basically saying the same thing. I don’t know what the Wikipedia community thinks of this?
- 2) Even more apparent redundancy with the CV’s. I found three, however, they are from different years and varying greatly in detail – the newest shorter than the one before that. So, though the newest is supposed to be the most encompassing, I feel the older ones add a lot of detail. Is my approach acceptable?
- 3) I have a feeling it might be a cultural/domain specific thing whether or not academic/scientific papers (which was what I wanted to list) are categorized as publications. So, instead of the ‘Publications’ heading, I used ‘Selected works’ as I was unsure if publications only cover books. Is my approach acceptable?
- 4) I have a major problem with backing some of the statements up with secondary sources – especially in the ‘Awards and honors’ section. The oldest ones predate the Internet Archive (i.e. before May 1996), and I have not succeeded in finding any mentioning anywhere on the Internet, except for in the CVs. Must these statements be deleted then?
- 5) I am especially unhappy about not being able to provide evidence for the award for outstanding polio research (1999) since it is my gratitude for Thomas Sinkjærs contributions to polio research that had me starting this page.
- Sorry for my long message – hope you can guide me.
- All the best, AVAVAYA (talk) 22:11, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- @AVAVAYA, I won't be able to look at this until later today. I will get back to you then. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 07:33, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. - @Eastmain, I can see your point. I'm more concerned about the nature of the page, which does indeed qualify for U5 as it is not a Userpage as such. I'll move the page to a userpage subpage, as it's not really a Userpage draft just now. @Marangse your userpage should only be used to describe yourself and your activities on Wikipedia. I worked diligently to create a wiki page (not fully published, just in the sandbox), and saved the draft to work on later. it was flagged then deleted within 1 minute. Not even enough time to read the full page. None of which was any form of opinion or advertising. Im wondering why it was deleted and which parts are the issue? FoodAndDrinkWriters (talk) 17:54, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- @FoodAndDrinkWriters: First off, I had 10 minutes to read the page (you published at 17:05, I tagged at 17:15). Also, the page was promotional in nature (see Wikipedia:Puffery), otherwise I wouldn't have tagged it. As your edits give this impression, I would reccomend having a look at Wikipedia:CoI as well. I believe that a thorough examination of my work will demonstrate that I am not only the rightful owner of the intellectual property but also an expert in the subject matter.
I genuinely appreciate your efforts in safeguarding Wikipedia's content, and I would be more than willing to engage in a constructive discussion regarding the inclusion of my work on the platform. I am open to providing additional references, citations, or any other form of evidence that may assist in verifying the accuracy and credibility of my contributions.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a fruitful resolution and the opportunity to continue contributing my expertise to the Wikipedia community.

Live/Dead Indicator LIVE Drjoshcohen (talk) 21:32, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hello @Drjoshcohen. I will preface this by saying that you are not blocked, so you are very much free to continue editing. I cannot block people on Wikipedia, or even delete pages for that matter: that is the job of Wikipedia's administrators.
- What I have done is recommended that your userpage is deleted by way of our speedy deletion process, in particular criteria U5. U5 is used to delete userpages (like your own) that are not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. User pages should only be used for describing you activities on Wikipedia, with limited biographical information allowed. This is why the page has been deleted several times: there is not necessarily anything wrong with the content, but rather the placing of said content. I would recommend that you do not recreate the page on this user page again, but read on if you are interested in attempting to properly write an autobiography on Wikipedia.
- If you do want to attempt to write about yourself, that activity is strongly discouraged but not prohibited. Autobiographies should be in accordance with our policy on neutrality; good reading for this is Help:Your first article and Wikipedia:Autobiography. I would reccomend that you use our "Articles for Creation" process for this as it allows the content to be audited by a reviewer, which in my opinion is essential for making sure autobiographies are neutral.
- I hope this reaches you well and helps you understand why this has happened. I hope you can find your place helping out Wikipedia: we do know we dearly need more experts! Thanks, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 22:23, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
- Dear Schminnte
- I understand and appreciate the importance of respecting copyright laws and intellectual property rights. I would like to clarify that I, as Joshua L Cohen, am the owner of the term "Film/video-based therapy" as it pertains to the specific methodologies and research I have pioneered and documented in my academic work.
- While I recognize that the term "Film/video-based therapy" can be used generically, its specific application in the context of my work and publications is unique and proprietary. It's important to note that copyright of these works is held by me and my publisher, not Wikipedia or any other party. These works are not open-source, and their intellectual property rights need to be respected.
- I'm aware of Wikipedia's guidelines regarding conflicts of interest, and I take these rules seriously. I understand that I should not write about myself, my work, or my interests on Wikipedia, in order to maintain a neutral point of view.
- However, I have been using ChatGPT, an AI developed by OpenAI, to generate content based on my inputs. I believe this does not violate the conflict of interest rules, as it's not me writing the content directly. According to Wikipedia's guidelines, content generated by AI is considered as original authorship, as long as it is not simply copying or closely paraphrasing from copyrighted sources.
- The content that I have contributed, through ChatGPT, is original, not closely paraphrased from copyrighted sources, and properly cited. The intention is to contribute to the Wikipedia community by providing accurate and reliable information about a specific field of psychology where I have expertise.
- I'd like to understand more about how Wikipedia views the usage of AI like ChatGPT in generating content. If AI-generated content is viewed as original authorship, does this not suggest that such content can be used on Wikipedia to represent an author's original work without violating conflict of interest rules? I'd appreciate your insights on this matter.
- Sincerely,
- Joshua L Cohen Drjoshcohen (talk) 22:57, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Drjoshcohen: I'm not very involved in this matter, so I would recommend that you trust the experience of @Diannaa. As far as I know, we don't have an official policy on the use of LLMs like chatGPT yet, but we do have a draft that's being created for one at Wikipedia:Large language models. That would provide some insight, but it is to be taken with a pinch of salt.
- In any case, as long as you agree to not use your userpage in the ways I've outlined above and use the correct processes, please consider me uninvolved in this matter. I'm only concerned with the use of your userpage, not any copyright infringement as that is being handled by others. Best, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 23:16, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Schminnte. Thank you for your understanding and for clarifying your intentions. I apologize if my previous response came across as accusing or hostile; that was not my intention. I appreciate your willingness to engage in a constructive approach to correcting errors rather than simply erasing content.
- As for the use of LLMs like ChatGPT on platforms like Wikipedia, it's indeed a topic of ongoing discussion and development. I understand that there may not be an official policy yet, but the draft being created at Wikipedia:Large language models can serve as a useful reference. It's always important to exercise caution and consider multiple perspectives when using such tools.
- I accept your assurance that you are not seeking to abuse the system and cause harm. It's unfortunate that some individuals do exploit these technologies, making it necessary to address potential misuse. I appreciate your respectful approach, and I'm here to help if you have any questions or need assistance with anything else. Drjoshcohen (talk) 23:33, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
- I would like to emphasise that one of the points in that proposal I have linked is to never use LLMs to write talk page comments. If you are using an LLM to write comments like this, please stop. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 08:45, 25 June 2023 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted
Hi Schminnte. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. signed, Rosguill talk 15:40, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you very much @Rosguill. Before I start reviewing, is there any tips or scripts you have for new reviewers? I've heard there's also a discord, but don't know where the link is. Thanks, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 16:59, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
- You can find the link to the Discord server near the top of WT:NPR, the main talk page for new page reviewers (disclaimer: I don't think I've ever used the NPP discord myself). As far as advice goes, if you've already read through the tutorial at WP:NPP, you should read through the further pages linked in the Further reading section for further guidance. In particular, you may find WP:QG and WP:RPATROL to be useful, as they provide more concrete and holistic advice for article and redirect reviews respectively, as opposed to the more abstract list of rules and processes that make up the core tutorial. signed, Rosguill talk 17:07, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Study invitation
Hey @Schminnte, I am reaching out because another Wikipedian recommended that you're one of the most ideal candidates that we really need to recruit for our study! Specifically, we are recruiting experienced Wikipedians to help label a few edits on this page by next weekend (July 22, 2023) to tell whether they are damaging and saved with good or bad faith. This is the last and most critical part of a larger study that aims to support Wikipedians to collectively evaluate AI systems on Wikipedia, including ORES and LiftWing, that power many anti-vandalism tools, such as Huggle, SWViewer, etc. More background and information are available on the study page for your reference. Thank you so much for your consideration! Tzusheng (talk) 14:39, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Tzusheng: I would be willing to do this when I find time. As this study is for the wider benefit of Wikipedia, I would be happy to help your research without seeking compensation. Just to be sure before I sign up, am I correct in saying that: 1) this only needs me to label whether the edit is good/bad faith and damaging/not damaging, and 2) this is a one-time job? Thanks for the opportunity. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 15:14, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Schminnte Thank you so much! To answer your question: 1) the study involves labeling edits (damaging/not damaging and good/bad faith) in your column (which I will create after your confirmation) and discussing with another four Wikipedians who also participate in the study to enter labels in the consensus column, which should reflect the consensus and not necessarily the result of majority labels, and 2) yes, this is a one-time request that we hope to finish before next weekend. Thanks again for your consideration! Tzusheng (talk) 15:42, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Tzusheng: I think I should be able to do this then. You can take this as my confirmation :) I'll look forward to starting. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 15:56, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

CSD U5s
Hello, Schminnte,
I see you are going through some User pages and tagging inappropriate ones for CSD U5 speedy deletion. Just a reminder that many new editors aren't aware of their Sandboxes or Draft space and they use their User page to start new articles. If you see a User page that looks like an article draft, please move it to the editor's Sandbox or to Draft space rather than tag it for deletion. I'm relying on your good judgment and editing experience to be able to tell the different between a legitimate draft and an autobiography! Thank you for all of your contributions to the project. Liz Read! Talk! 23:44, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, and I haven't checked but I do hope you are leaving editors whose User pages you've tagged a talk page notice explaining why their User page was tagged for deletion. If you are already doing this using Twinkle, well, good job, thank you! Liz Read! Talk! 23:45, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
- @Liz: sorry about that. I'll try to exercise my discretion more carefully. I do use Twinkle to tag so I always notify the users. For my reference (I see all the pages I've tagged tonight have been deleted: log), is there any tags specifically that you feel I could do better on, or is this just something to look out for in the future. I generally feel that my tagging is pretty accurate, so any help here would be appreciated. Thanks, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 23:55, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Question from ERYICA - European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (12:28, 17 July 2023)
Hello Schminnte, I used to create a Wikipedia page for my company: ERYICA: European Youth Information and Counselling Agency, but our previous account has been blocked, I guess, for copyright reasons. So I created a new account to create the page, so my question is : Can I put the information that are on our website on Wikipedia or should there be no duplicated content? Which means I have to rewrite all the texts. By the way, is it possible to publish the Wikipedia page as a draft ? Because I don't want to publish it and get blocked again.
Looking forward to reading to you --ERYICA - European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (talk) 12:28, 17 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hey there @ERYICA - European Youth Information and Counselling Agency, couple of things. First off, I'm assuming that the account User:Eryica was the previous one. If so, the reason you were blocked was due to your username: on Wikipedia, usernames that represent an organisation or imply shared use are not allowed. All you need to do to be unblocked from that account is request a change in username. I would recommend either doing that on the former account and continuing editing on it or filing a username change for your current account, as the same problem still applies. I will put a notice on your talk page (User talk:ERYICA - European Youth Information and Counselling Agency). Please do not edit or start a draft before you do one of these options. As for creating an article, if you are employed by ERYICA, you must first disclose that paid relationship. On Wikipedia we strongly discourage CoI editing, so if you still want to create a draft I would strongly recommend you submit it through our Articles for Creation scheme. This means the article will be reviewed by some of our editors, which means it is less likely to be biased. As for copying over information from your website, please do not do this unless your website uses an appropriate license. If it is in copyright, we cannot use it. So to summarise, please 1) request a username change first, 2) disclose your paid editing and only then 3) begin a draft. Thanks for wanting to help. You're correct!
Hello @Schminnte! Thank you for pointing out how my first article didn't meet Wikipedia's guidelines.
Please don't delete it, but just put it in my sandbox so I can edit it and make sure it complies with Wikipedia's guidelines. All I want is to include the Texas Hemp Harvest Festival into Wikipedia as many other festival have their own article.
Do you know how can I ask for remunerated help in order to comply with the guidelines? Beastyandy (talk) 13:52, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hey @Beastyandy, the article was deleted before I saw this. The main problem with the article was that it was using a rather promotional tone, but it also didn't show how the festival was notable. Keep in mind that just because other festivals are notable, it doesn't mean that this one is. If you want to try and adapt the article to our policies, I would recommend either starting afresh in your sandbox or asking @Bbb23 (the deleting admin) to kindly userfy it for you. As you're quite a new user, I would also suggest that you use our Articles for creation scheme, which helps newer users learn how to write articles according to our norms while letting them draft at the same time. Thanks, Schminnte (talk • contribs) 14:05, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
I find it dissapointing that you are an editor that automatically "deletes" things before you give them a chance. I started a page with a short profile about a company, and you deleted it. Company pages help inform people the profile behind companies. You should allow time for a page to post their contributions before you request deletion. Very upset at people who just 'assume' things. Maybe tell the Chicago Tribune to be deleted becuase you do not like their name and company on Wikipedia because it could be advertising.
- This was posted on response to my tagging of a user's blatantly promotional sandbox. The user is now indefinitely blocked for promotion. I recommend that the user realises that Wikipedia is not a tool for promotion if they wish to be unblocked. Schminnte (talk • contribs) 21:33, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
