Sahla parappan moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Sahla parappan, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. โ€“ NJD-DE (talk) 15:21, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Sahla Parappan

[edit]

Hello, AFTHAB RAHMAN SUNNU. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Sahla Parappan".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. Hello, I'm Ae245. I noticed that in this edit to Yahoo! Mobile, you removed all the content from the page. Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you wish to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Deletion discussion about Ganga Kinare

[edit]

Hello S-Aura, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Ganga Kinare, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ganga Kinare.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Which are? Ask away! I do think you need to know what is necessary to establish notability (as Wikipedia defines it). In the case of a business, it requires significant and independant sources, so with a hotel a lot of press coverage or other mentions (such as in guide books) will simply be the kind of run-of-the-mill stuff that any hotel will generate.TheLongTone (talk) 12:24, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Translations from other versions of Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi there, S-Aura. In looking more closely at your article Suai Prison, I discovered that it was a translation of the German article Gefรคngnis Suai. If you create a new article on the basis of all or parts of an article in another language version of Wikipedia, it is important to avoid copyright problems by covering attribution in your first edit summary. For this article, you should now make a further edit with an edit summary confirming that the article is based on the German version. You will find more detailed explanations under Help:Translation. The articles you have created on the basis of their equivalents in Simple English should be attributed in the same way.--Ipigott (talk) 07:28, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dear @Ipigott,
Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I appreciate your effort in ensuring that Wikipedia's copyright policies are followed.
I understand now that I should have provided attribution for the translation of the German article Gefรคngnis Suai in my initial edit summary.
Additionally, I will review the articles I created based on their Simple English equivalents and ensure that they are properly attributed.
Thank you for pointing out my mistake and for providing guidance on how to correct it. I will make sure to follow the guidelines under Help:Translation going forward.

Improperly published drafts

[edit]

Warning icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to publish at least three drafts by copying their content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into articlespace (John Bown, Westmeath Minotaurs, and Douglas Stevenson). This is a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution.

Instead, please resume your previous method of publishing drafts like Draft:J.R Midha using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new.

If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please ask the regulars at the technical move requests board or Article for Creation (AfC) help desk.

Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Rotideypoc41352 (talk ยท contribs) 04:18, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on The Camellias, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi S-Aura. Thank you for your work on G. Girish. Another editor, Klbrain, has reviewed it as part of new pages patrol and left the following comment:

Thanks for creating this stub for a newly-appoint high-court judge; the cited reliable sources are sufficient for a stub, and one of them links to a list of further news article that relate to him (or his judgements). Remember to add categories when creating pages.

Replaceable non-free use File:Swapnil Kotriwar.jpeg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Swapnil Kotriwar.jpeg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. โ€”TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 17:10, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Jmwstack (17:37, 27 January 2025)

[edit]

I tried editing a page but the edits did not remain. The page is Janet de Gore. It says she died in 2022. This is NOT TRUE! She is still alive. But this keeps showing up even though I have tried to delete the date of death --Jmwstack (talk) 17:37, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dear @Jmwstack,
Thank you for bringing this to attention. The information about Janet De Gore death is likely based on a media report or a reliable source cited on the page. If you believe the information is incorrect, you can provide a reliable source confirming that she is still alive, and request an update on the Talk page of the article for review by other editors. Wikipedia relies on verifiable and reliable sources to ensure accuracy.
Happy editing! ๐’ฎ-๐’œ๐“Š๐“‡๐’ถ 17:43, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
what would a "reliable" source be to show that a person is alive??? A photograph? I know where she lives but she might not want that information published. This just seems ridiculous. She is absolutely alive and well and this Wikipedia page is wrong in saying she died in 2022! Give me a clue how I prove she is alive! Jmwstack (talk) 20:34, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello @Jmwstack,
I understand your frustration. Proving someone is alive can be challenging, but Wikipedia relies on reliable, verifiable sources for all information, and personal claims or knowledge cannot be used to make changes. To correct the information, you must provide a reliable source, such as a recent interview, statement from a representative, or other publicly available evidence that confirms she is alive. Without such evidence, edits based solely on your claim cannot be accepted.
Relevant guidelines:WP:NOTTRUTH Even if something is true, it cannot be included without verifiable evidence. ๐’ฎ-๐’œ๐“Š๐“‡๐’ถ 03:22, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well you couldn't have had any verifiable evidence of her death because she is still alive. And yet you published her death date without any verifiable evidence. Please tell me how to prove to you that she is alive. She has an email address but you won't let me give it to you. You could contact her yourself. This is ridiculous and really a black mark on Wikipedia. 67.174.65.35 (talk) 00:30, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
