Speedy deletion nomination of Jewish Protection of Tel Aviv
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Jewish Protection of Tel Aviv requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. [edit]An article you recently created, Jewish Protection of Tel Aviv, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, RowanJ LP. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:16, 7 April 2022 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Ruben Sim On A Skateboard.png
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Ruben Sim On A Skateboard.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.rubensim.com/product/hash-tee. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
Whpq (talk) 13:51, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
Biographies of living people

Replaceable fair use File:Saleh Al-Qaraawi's Press Photo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Saleh Al-Qaraawi's Press Photo.png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ⓜ️hawk10 (talk) 03:39, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

Good Article nomination of Damar Hamlin
[edit]Hi Rowan, I have removed the Good Article nomination tag on Damar Hamlin without a review. This is for two reasons.
We generally look for nominators to be substantial contributors to the article in question. Per WP:GAI, Anyone may nominate an article to be reviewed for GA, although it is preferable that nominators have contributed significantly to the article and are familiar with its subject and its cited sources. Nominators who are not significant contributors to the article must consult regular editors of the article on the article talk page prior to a nomination.
It is also abundantly clear that, with the subject in critical condition in a hospital, there is no possible way that it could be determined to be stable. Stability is a GA criterion: it does not change significantly from day to day because of an ongoing edit war or content dispute
. The page is changing significantly. The article was created in April 2021 and has 616 edits, of which 570 (92.5%) have been within the last week. I'd advise to wait three or six months after Hamlin is released from the hospital to reconsider whether the volume of news items and resultant article edits necessary has gone down. Deletion discussion about Niko Defence League
[edit]Hello, RowanJ LP, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username BoyTheKingCanDance, and I thank you for your contributions.
I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Niko Defence League, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Niko Defence League (2nd nomination).
You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|BoyTheKingCanDance}}

File permission problem with File:Niko Omilana's voice.mp3
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Niko Omilana's voice.mp3. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 07:45, 28 January 2023 (UTC)
Non-free rationale for File:Niko Omilana's voice.mp3
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Niko Omilana's voice.mp3. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 00:12, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

Your userboxes
[edit]Can you explain to me why your user page now contains what you refer to as "mildly offensive userboxes
" here? The first userbox declares "This user is against Trans rights
" and the second userbox supports the JDL and the Kach Party, both designated terrorist groups in the United States. These userboxes are below. Nythar (💬-❄️) 02:31, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- Firstly, I'm so sorry for the guideline violations, I didn't mean to violate anything, and secondly, I don't think Kach and the Jewish Defense League are considered terrorist organizations in the United States anymore, but besides that, I won't re-add them or add anything like the userboxes below on my userpage, thank you for understanding and have a good day. RowanJ LP2 (talk) 18:50, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- And the trans rights box? Weird how you specifically addressed the other one but not that one, even though that's far worse. --Golbez (talk) 19:12, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- RowanJ LP2, "
I didn't mean to violate anything
" and "I don't think Kach and the Jewish Defense League are considered terrorist organizations ... anymore
" seem to be a hurried apology in order to avoid a block. This doesn't indicate that you've changed your way of thinking and it's difficult to tell if you actually won't be creating such userboxes in the future. — Nythar (💬-❄️) 19:12, 15 February 2023 (UTC)- I have a right to my own opinions, but I will not create userboxes relating to any hateful ideology or organization on Wikipedia again. Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently been editing gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them which has been designated a contentious topic. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Logo of an Al-Hayat Media Center Nasheed.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Logo of an Al-Hayat Media Center Nasheed.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement.
25stargeneral (talk) 03:13, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Reference problems
[edit]Hi Rowan,
I tried to follow several of the references you added to the Tetranitratoxycarbon article. None of them seemed to mention that chemical, or even support the general ideas where you added them. Spot-checking several other science articles where you added references, I found every ref you added was similarly problematic (Levomethamphetamine, 4-PrO-DMT, Holmium phosphide, Tetrahydrocannabivarin). Could you explain this situation please? DMacks (talk) 06:55, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
- @DMacks, did you get a response to this somewhere else? The same issue has just been raised by @ViridianPenguin at Talk:Mating of yeast/GA2. -- asilvering (talk) 02:25, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Went through RowanJ LP's five most recent edits to scientific articles and found multiple issues:
- At Neodymium(III) hydroxide, a footnote was added in Aug 2024 to support a statement on the reaction between neodymium(III) hydroxide and acid, but the cited Levitskaia et al. (2011) paper never remotely discusses that reaction. (Since deleted by me)
- At Modified starch, a footnote was added in June 2024 to support the statement "Pre-gelatinized starch is used to thicken instant desserts, allowing the food to thicken with the addition of cold water or milk." However, the Ma et al. (2022) paper actually says the opposite: "The water absorption capacity and swelling power of native starch without gelatinization are relatively low; therefore, it is difficult to produce some [...] low-temperature processed foods (e.g., instant puddings, cold desserts, baby food) due to its low water absorption capacity and swelling power" (Since replaced with a "citation needed" tag by me)
- At Gene expression, across seven edits in June 2024, 76 citations were added. Spot-checking citations did not return any issues, so nice job supporting a WP:Vital Article!😊
- At Periodontal abscess, 17 footnotes were added in May 2024. I found two issues, both of which I have since resolved:
- You added a footnote to the statement "A gingival retraction cord which is accidentally left in situ is an occasional cause of a periodontal abscess," citing Vittorio Andreucci's 1989 book "Vascular and Peritoneal Access for Dialysis." This book never discusses gingival retraction cords, leading me to believe you misunderstood a book on the peritoneum (membrane lining the abdominal cavity) as a book on the periodontium (tissue supporting teeth).
- You added a footnote to the statement "Systemic immune factors such as diabetes can predispose a person to the formation of periodontal abscesses," citing Li et al. (2000). However, this paper considers the opposite relationship, given its title "Systemic Diseases Caused by Oral Infection."
- At Phenelzine, six footnotes were added May 2024. Source 38 is Matveychuk et al. (2022), which only supports that claim that phenylethylidenehydrazine is a metabolite of phenelzine but does not support the latter claim that phenethylamine is also a metabolite. However, you took that claim from having no support to partial support, so no blame. Otherwise, your contribution here looks good!
- @RowanJ LP, to clarify, such edits are disruptive. Whereas the lack of a citation or "citation needed" tag makes it clear where editors need to find relevant articles, putting unrelated footnotes makes potentially untrue claims appear supported by the scientific community. ViridianPenguin 🐧 ( 💬 ) 14:47, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- As I explained to DMacks in this quote: "Let me explain why I made those edits, I don't do any chemistry articles anymore since I'm not trained in that area, and secondly, I use to copy sentences and paste them into Google looking for a NIH article to use for a citation, you may undo these edits, and I'm sorry for the false citations and hopefully you understand I've stopped doing that." I started doing those types of articles again but instead of just copying and pasting I did legitimate proof reading but to do my lack of knowledge I probably mistook some information as something else. RowanJ LP (talk) 21:50, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- Understood, apologies if I came across as overly negative today! Going through your editing history, it is clear that you made significant improvements to our vital gene expression article. What I want to convey is that when trying to add sources, keep in mind that any uncited claim is potentially wrong. In the modified starch case, you could have instead used the Ma et al. (2022) paper to delete the existing statement and claim the opposite. ViridianPenguin 🐧 ( 💬 ) 00:29, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

Johnny Somali Error
[edit]Hey rowan,I realized an error in the wiki article for johnny somali and I was wondering how it came to be and why you claim he is somali when there is lots of evidence pointing him to be ethiopian and only donning the somali name to put down their reputation EagleHead871 (talk) 07:56, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, most reliable sources say he is Somali and the only other sources that say he isn't is a forum post and some YouTube videos which don't meet the criteria of reliable sources, but I already have a note near where it says he is Somali-American that states: "Some dispute that he is from Somalia and say that he is from Ethiopia".
- But all in all, every citation on the page that mentions his origins state that he is Somali. RowanJ LP (talk) 12:02, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hello rowan as you know Somali is a ethnicity and as a Somali myself I can attest to it that the Somalis in Somali region of Ethiopia don't identify as Ethiopian and it is very clear that him being "Somali" contradicts itself when it states that his mother is of Oromo descent (not Somali completely different ethnicity) and his father of Habesha descent (again not Somali a completely different ethnicity) and the key thing is that these 2 ethnicities he hails from identify as Ethiopian and these 2 ethnicities are completely separate from the Somali Ethnicity so it would be wrong to call him Somali when he doesn't even come from the ethnicity first of all and then to further contradict yourself by stating he comes from a "Somali family" when that infact is also wrong since his family don't identify as Somali (and they can't because they are from completely different ethnicities which consider themselves Ethiopian) and also there is many evidence such as his former username being habesha central or many videos circulating on the internet where he claims to be half Oromo and half Yemeni as well as another video where he states that he identifies as Somali to solely tarnish the name but all of that aside it doesn't make sense or add up to how he is Somali when your own edits contradict itself stating he is of different ethnic descents which aren't Somali but then labelling him as Somali, Please fix this issue and do research on the diverse ethnic groups of the horn of Africa and don't spread misinformation. EagleHead871 (talk) 04:10, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- Do have citation to back this up? Because without citation I can't put anything down and all my citations state that his is Somali. RowanJ LP (talk) 04:12, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- But the literal writing contradicts itself and you lack citations that concretely prove he is somali since you claim that he is habesha and oromo effectively making him ethiopian and not somali and another proof is his name "ramsey" that is not a somali name and is more common as a ethiopian/western name not a somali one. EagleHead871 (talk) 06:02, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- Okay then, I wasn't the one who put down the Oromo or Habesha descent, and the citations do say he is Somali, I'll check the BBC News citations and see if it says anything about his heritage and if he's Somali or not. RowanJ LP (talk) 11:39, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- From what I read on the articles, his father is Somali and his mother is Oromo, so please stop saying he is from Ethiopia. RowanJ LP (talk) 11:44, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- @RowanJ LP HIS MOTHER IS SOMALI AND HIS DAD IS OROMO/YEMENI [1]https://x.com/injeracel/status/1665467608613937153?s=46&t=weRAVmCrg5RzCo1rjFO7YQ] 2605:B100:704:BD6:15F7:3062:1619:CE7A (talk) 02:27, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Twitter (now known as X) isn't a reliable source for information especially regarding biographies, so your statement of his ethnicity is null and void. RowanJ LP (talk) 02:28, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Oh ok then put it as Ethiopian then because he would be that since we identify from our paternal lineage and not from the maternal and once again your own sources and the stuff you wrote contradicts itself. EagleHead871 (talk) 02:37, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Or if you want to just settle this just put him as african american and then state in the text his lineage put just dont smack the somali label on him when he is clearly ethiopian and he would identify as ethiopian since its paternal lineage that horn of africans identify from since in somali society if your father is not somali then you arent somali because what makes you somali is having a clan lineage and only a somali father can pass down that clan lineage. EagleHead871 (talk) 02:39, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- As I said before, the BBC News article says his father is Somali, so by your logic he is Somali RowanJ LP (talk) 02:43, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Send the link. and you literally have VIDEO proof of him stating his background but you are covering it up by saying it is twitter you and I both know very well that the video you showed is concrete evidence so why are you denying it? you have no reason to? and thats the only source you have? and many other sources highlight his background and it revolves around that video you just showed further cementing their claims? Look I am not being biased but the wiki article is spreading misinformation and is not accurate. EagleHead871 (talk) 02:49, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Oh also his name is Ramsey Khaild Ismael stop trying to switch it around to contradict you trying to claim he is somali and also whenever I ask for source where is it? EagleHead871 (talk) 02:51, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Here is the linkand it is stated that his name is Ismael Ramsey Khalid like all the other sources say. RowanJ LP (talk) 03:01, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Ok good we got the name right and also the page literally states it was published by twitter which last time you said "was not credible sources" and If we are going to play like that, here is more evidence debunking this one article that you showed
- https://twitter.com/_MrInsanity_/status/1680556719066296322
- https://twitter.com/_MrInsanity_/status/1680557445960159233
- His former account, https://twitter.com/HabeshaCapital
- https://twitter.com/k7bb7/status/1689168197126111232 thats him liking ethiopian videos on his former account
- https://www.tiktok.com/@ifr33x/video/7241842310705696006 the same video you showed is also circulating on tiktok and its clearly johnny somali with his kick label and all but I will presume you will say "its not credible evidence" even though its a video which is concrete proof. EagleHead871 (talk) 03:28, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- You don't understand do you? If a Twitter link is published through a credible news source, then it's okay, but if it's just a Twitter link by itself, it isn't, and until there's an actual news agency that says this, I will then change it. RowanJ LP (talk) 03:32, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- You dont even have any other links to back up this false claim? and this time I literally provided video evidence which you refuse to admit? the video itself is credible evidence and is accurate? EagleHead871 (talk) 03:34, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Oh btw your news article is not credible evidence since it was written by twitter which again contradicts your claims of twitter not being a credible source. EagleHead871 (talk) 03:38, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 2023 Nicosia Israeli embassy bombing
[edit]Hey man, ive nominated the 2023 Nicosia Israeli embassy bombing article for deletion for a few reasons:
1) No motives were ever given to the public by either police, judicial system or even an organisation claimning any sort of attack
2) The Israeli embassy wasnt even hit, there were no casualties (Deaths/injuries) and there was maybe some property damage to a building nearby thus not making it in any way notable either
3) Generally there is a lack of sources that actually state the Israeli embassy was the target, just that it happened near the embassy but thats not enough to make the assertion without it being original research, remember, Cyprus has always had an issue with fireworks and pyrotechnics ranging from football to other crimes, thus it doesnt necessarily mean this case was any different.
Feel free to take part in the deletion discussion but I just laid a couple points out for you. ShovelandSpade (talk) 17:59, 20 October 2024 (UTC)

Standard notice: Syrian Civil War
[edit]This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in the Syrian Civil War and ISIL. Due to past disruption in this topic area, the community has authorised uninvolved administrators to impose contentious topics restrictions—such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks—on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, expected standards of behaviour, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic. For additional information, please see the guidance on these sanctions. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor. |
