The Last of Us Part I is the second redo from the original PS3 game after GTA V?
I know that TLOU Part I is the second redo from the original PS3 game, after GTA V, but there is too many citations around me. CastJared (talk) 03:44, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- @CastJared: I'm not sure what you mean by "there is too many citations around me", but the information is incorrect (and irrelevant) anyway. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 03:51, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
The Last of Us Viewership vs. Euphoria
Hi, I know that Forbes reported that Euphoria fell apart of viewership because of The Last of Us. CastJared (talk) 05:53, 19 January 2023 (UTC)
- @CastJared: Not sure what you mean by "it fell Euphoria apart". In any case, there's currently no notable reason to mention Euphoria on The Last of Us—X got more views than Y isn't really significant unless Y held some kind of record, which doesn't appear to be the case here. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 05:59, 19 January 2023 (UTC)

missing song in ep 3
if you turn on the close captioning for the scene where joel and ellie enter bill's basement, it'll reveal the song playing on the computer which is "chains of love". also, do not hesitate to look at tunefind that has all the songs for each ep. Cosmic2992 (talk) 05:56, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Cosmic2992: I'm aware of the song and the scene in which it plays, but I've seen no evidence that it is notable for inclusion; the infobox parameter is not meant to be an exhaustive list of every piece of music. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 05:58, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

- @Cosmic2992: Not necessarily "popular" songs, just notable ones that play during key scenes. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 06:02, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- whoever came up with that decision, needs a reality check and that user should've accepted every song. Cosmic2992 (talk) 06:15, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- I disagree; Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. If we were to list every song, we'd have infoboxes bursting at the seams with 10+ tracks, which isn't really helpful to anyone. Limiting the list to notable songs is more beneficial to the reader; if they want a list of every song, they can go to Tunefind instead. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 06:22, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi Rhain why did you revert my edits
All I did was add a link and credit a woman who worked on the game. why would you not want it to be possible for someone to click on her name as she is credited on her very own wiki as the writer and creator of said games Manicpickmenightmaregirl (talk) 16:07, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

Amy Hennig is literally the head of design but not listed on the page whatsoever
she was leader of design and art in blood omen and somehow her name isn't in the box at all. that's not right and needs to be changed. Manicpickmenightmaregirl (talk) 16:15, 21 February 2023 (UTC)

considering she was the manager of them she was the most crucial one to list so either she should replace one or the parameters should be changed to 4. Last of Us does not indicate linear viewership??
Should be labeled so. It says Viewers. Frustrating that you leaped on my edit without looking at it. Turin07 (talk) 03:16, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Turin07: The "U.S. viewers" corresponds to the "Original air date" column—as in, the number of viewers of the original airing on HBO. I'm told this is standard across television articles. However, your edit was incorrect regardless: for example, "5.88 million" is not a number associated with the first episode in any way, linear or not, and is not supported by any references. I certainly looked at your edits thoroughly before reverting; I'm not sure what leads you to believe otherwise. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 03:27, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
Her Story credits
Hello! I wanted to ask you about this revert where you removed the writer and director credits for Sam Barlow. I very much disagree with your reasoning, as the infobox for a game should reflect the credits of that game in my opinion. While Barlow is listed as the developer, I don't see why that would preclude his inclusion for the other credits as well. Just as a comparison (not saying this is 1:1), the film Primer was written, directed, edited, produced, scored, and starred Shane Carruth, and he is credited in all of those fields.
Is there a precedent for this with one-person games and how they're credited? I figured we would match the credits as is but maybe there's something I'm missing. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Sock (tock talk) 15:08, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Sock: I appreciate the message. This is an approach I've seen with other solo-developed games like Papers, Please, Stardew Valley, and Undertale. I suppose the difference with films is that there isn't really an overarching parameter like "Developer" or "Designer"; directing a film does not mean one also wrote or edited it, whereas being named the sole developer of a video game implies writing and designing. I'd definitely support a project-wide clarification on this topic, though. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 15:23, 28 February 2023 (UTC)
GAN
Hi there, I hope you're doing well. I have a request: would it be possible for you to do some reviewing at WP:GAN? At the moment, you have had 62 articles reviewed by others, with a few more nominated, but you've done only one review.
This would also help your nominations, as the ordering of the GA queues has been changed so that nominators with a higher review:nomination ratio are placed higher. If you do no reviews, articles such as The Myth Makers will continue to languish near the bottom of the pile. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 13:16, 2 March 2023 (UTC)

NY Game Awards in YYYY in video games article
I know you've recently added the NY Game Awards to these tables; I believe that's a bit too narrow of a body of critics to consider as important as TGA, GDC, or BAFTA. I recognize that it is probably one of the few other real awards (ignoring things like Steam Awards), but at the same time, there are also awards like the Golden Joysticks that could be considered larger. The 5 that we presently feature give us the TGAs (press vote), DICE (industry vote), and GDC (developer vote), in addition to the BAFTA (UK centric) and Japan Awards (Japan centric) and I think that's enough.
I now think that it may be wise to include the other awards as a short list under the table in that section on the year pages, though I would still focus on those that routinely covered. but I did want to pass this suggestion first. Masem (t) 20:51, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Masem: Feel free to make any changes you consider appropriate; I trust your judgement. One of the main reasons I added the NY Game Awards was because I noticed Metacritic using it on their GOTY Tracker, but the justification for those five main awards is more logical. Certainly not opposed to a short list for other awards too; film articles do something similar already. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 00:17, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
- I just wanted to make sure if I removed them you were okay/you knew I was doing it. I do think the added list is helpful and will help alleviate some awards we may not be covering. I don't know when I will get to it, however. Masem (t) 01:32, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

"Standard procedure"
Please point me to where this "standard procedure" is suggested, or where a consensus for it was formed. Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:14, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- WP:DEADREF, WP:PLRT. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 06:24, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- The links that were converted into Internet Archive links were not dead, so DEADREF is not relevant, and PLRT is about an automatic process, not about editors converting working live links into tnternet Archive links. Neither of these are on target. Beyond My Ken (talk) 08:51, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- DEADREF is also about preventing dead links, so it's relevant here. PLRT proves its prevalence and importance. See also WP:ARCHIVEEARLY. This is very standard procedure—I rarely see articles pass FA without archived URLs. I have no idea why you're so opposed to it; it changes very little about the article besides adding extra security. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 09:22, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- If a link works, there's no reason to change it on the mere supposition that doing so is preventing a future dead link. Look at it this way, if all links were converted to Internet Archive links we'd be putting all our eggs in one basket, and if IA ever went belly-up, ALL of those links would be dead. If they were NOT converted, each separate source, i.e. The New York Times et al. would have to go bad to have the same effect. With multiple sources, there are multiple chances that the links will remain good. When links go bad, they can be converted to IA links, but doing so when they're good does NOT help the project. - "if all links were converted to Internet Archive links"—no links are being "converted", though: the original links remain intact, presented in the exact manner they are now. Archiving is just an extra measure to prevent link rot (or other changes to website content)."does NOT help the project"—I disagree strongly, but even if you don't think they "help", they certainly don't hinder, so I don't see any logical reason to remove them. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 12:53, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with Rhain 100% here. Furthermore, when a still-working URL is archived, the URL status parameter of the cite template is set to "live" so that the main/actual source link still takes you to the original page, instead of the archive. I see no reason to get rid of these clearly beneficial archive links. — AP 499D25 (talk) 14:50, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

Beyond My Ken (talk) 12:34, 20 April 2023 (UTC)

Nathan Drake's relationships section
Hello there,
What are your thoughts on an added section talking about Drake's relationships over the course of the series? I've seen that many other video game character articles have this and why Drake's article doesn't have a section on this as I think it would be helpful for readers learning more about him and who he has worked with. LDMisEditing (talk) 15:55, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
- @LDMisEditing: If several reliable, secondary sources discuss Drake's relationships throughout the series, I'd say a section like that would be appropriate. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 23:52, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
- Would you consider Screenrant to be considered one of the reliable, secondary sources? LDMisEditing (talk) 01:13, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- @LDMisEditing: Per WP:VG/S, it is considered "situational", so it would be fine for uncontroversial statements. I wouldn't rely on them for an entire section, though. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 01:21, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- sounds good. One more thing: If I were to add a relationships section, can I create the section and add information like piece by piece and not one whole 'completed' section. LDMisEditing (talk) 21:26, 8 May 2023 (UTC)
- @LDMisEditing: Of course; Wikipedia is a work in progress, after all. However, since the article is classed as a good article, it's likely your edits there will be more highly scrutinised, so if you'd like to continue building the section in your own time, I'd recommend doing so on your sandbox. Let me know if you need anything else. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 00:17, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- awesome, thank you. Editing a wiki article is a project we're doing in my college course right now and i'm learning a lot. Your feedback has been great and thanks for being clear and concise about what i'm doing wrong or what i'm doing right. I will probably be making edits soon so you'll see some more changes but any feedback from those changes are so helpful, thanks again. LDMisEditing (talk) 01:03, 9 May 2023 (UTC)

Request reason:
Two (1, 2) of the five relevant reversions were to fix obvious vandalism which (perhaps unintentionally) broke a template per WP:3RRNO. All other edits were to ensure adherence to the MoS and policy, including after a warning to the user—while these are not exemptions and I obviously should have sought dispute resolution sooner, I don't believe they were intentionally disruptive, especially in light of the severity of the block length. In any case, I will certainly ensure stricter adherence to dispute resolution in future. Thanks. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 07:37, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
Accept reason:
"assured that user understands policy and will not edit war" — MSGJ
If not intentional (as you admit) then it cannot possibly fit the definition of vandalism and so does not qualify for any of the exemptions. Regarding the block length, this was set because it is not the first block you have received for edit warring, so you should be fully aware of the policy. This was a new user who was acting in good faith - the kind of editor we would like to retain. You should be welcoming and supportive but instead you reverted 5 times. Why didn't you just fix the template and give them some friendly advice? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 07:49, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- @MSGJ: You're right: I think my experience alone should prove that I'm fully aware of the policy, let alone my previous block; and, while I stand by fixing the template, the edit is more likely to fit this description than deliberate vandalism and I should not have labelled it as such. That article feels like a magnet for (actual, obvious) vandalism and disruption so I've clearly let its history cloud my judgement; instead of both demonstrating and assuming good faith, I've done the opposite and potentially driven away a good faith editor. One thing I need to keep in mind more is WP:THEREISNORUSH: obvious vandalism/copyvio aside, it's okay to direct an editor to a talk page instead of rushing to remove the content, whether it's constructive or not. I appreciate your advice. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 08:33, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for this. You are a good editor who just made a mistake this time. Please remember that 3RR is a bright-line rule that should never be broken. "When in doubt, do not revert." I'm unblocking now — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:54, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

Portrait of Hidemaro Fujibayashi
I noticed that you added a photo of Hidemaro Fujibayashi to his page, and want to thank you for doing so. However, I believe a higher quality photo should be used. Because you uploaded the photo specifically for this page, I wanted to ask for approval for me to replace the image; I don't want to step on any toes. I'm willing to do all of the work, I just wanted to run it by you first. Thanks. SidekickDART (talk) 02:15, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- @SidekickDART: Thanks for your message. I agree, this photograph's quality is awful; it's just the only freely licensed image of Fujibayashi that I've been able to find. If you can find a better alternative, though, I'd be thrilled to see it replaced! – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 02:36, 28 May 2023 (UTC)
- I was able to locate a better photo and have updated the page with it. I agree that locating such a photo is/was difficult; It took me over an hour of digging to find a photo that was licensed under Creative Commons. In any case, I'm still glad you used the photo you did. A low-quality photo is better than no photo at all, and it's inclusion directly inspired the location of a more suitable photo. I would not have tried to find this photo otherwise. Thanks again! SidekickDART (talk) 00:29, 29 May 2023 (UTC)

Re: Character Infoboxes
I've been trying to go through and standardize the character article infoboxes, given that we have far less to contend with now (about 600 total) and it's more manageable, based off standards from the other articles. Primarily focusing on details specific for a reader to understand a character at a glance. Stuff like family and significant others etc has been regarded as WP:CRUFT, while the infobox colors get responses of accessibility issues for colorblind users, moreso with editors just arbitrarily applying any color they feel fit to one. So just trying to explain where those changes are coming from.-- Kung Fu Man (talk) 05:11, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- I'm aware of the reasoning, and appreciate your explanation. I agree that some infoboxes get filled with far too much trivial information (I've actively worked to trim several in the past), but I don't think it's all useless, hence my occasional partial reverts. I'm also aware of colour accessibility concerns and would never intentionally make a change in violation of that. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 05:26, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- Well how do you feel about the family/sigother/child/etc parameters at the very least? It's not such a problem on Abby and Niko for example, but it does become one on bigger character articles like it was here, and I'm concerned users will point at the outliers as arguments as to "why can't this article have these?" like kept coming up with Samus in the past when her's were cleaned out.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 05:53, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
- I think it's entirely dependent on the character, and the information included. Blazkowicz is a good example of an infobox that took it too far (e.g. seven lines repeated "MachineGames" without actually clarifying what that means—and it's not really a necessary clarification anyway), so I think your removal of his occupation, relatives, and birthdate are logical. That being said, I think some of the information (namely his wife and daughters) is relevant and important, so I've restored those.Personally, I prefer to focus on improving an article based on its own merits rather than worrying about another editor improperly using it as an example to justify their own edits—though, to your concern, I think articles like Abby and Niko would work to your advantage, since those are examples of using parameters selectively and only including information that is important to the character and article (rather than endlessly listing all possible occupations, nicknames, and relatives). – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 06:18, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
