Maneesh Sethi

Howdy Reagle,

I appreciate your edits, as well as your reply! Maybe we could set some things straight here.

There is obviously some confusion, because Maneesh Sethi did work with Tim Ferriss as a result of the contest, and your edits have made it clear that our source is not sufficient.

Here is a link to an article written by Maneesh on the experience. Before we cast that out for being illegitimate/biased, Tim Ferriss tweeted the article, which would seem to back up its claims (IMO). I had no part in these occasions, and rewording within the article is most likely necessary, but I'd like to find a way we could come to an agreement on the series of events (as I'm currently losing a game of telephone).

Additionally, choosing to refer to "Save Them" as an ephemeral fundraiser rather than an NGO is a distinction you are free to make personally, but does no favors in the way of accuracy. Adding a specific time frame seems like a good option to reduce the odds that readers will mistakenly believe it is an ongoing project. Save Them has also been referred to as an NGO ubiquitously elsewhere on the Internet, and I'd argue there's a benefit to parallelism.

Lastly, I'm surprised to see you are an assistant professor at my alma mater -- a happy coincidence! I'd be curious to know if you're familiar with the professor I had for my class on writing for Wikipedia.

Crud muffins, thanks for the note. I ended up writing about Sethi for some research on life hacking and most of the things I changed were because they led me on a wrong path. That is, I figured that if I found them misleading, others would too. For example, it took me, literally, hours to page through Ferriss' archives to find who won his two 4HWW video submission contests. But let's take this to the article's talk page. Hello, Reagle. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
