Want a Pot o' Gold?

[edit]

I'm just about to send "Pot o' Gold" into the GAN maw, and thought I should let you know it's available for a Big Gulp or the aural equivalent if you want it. It's the last third season episode that's not yet officially Good, so if it passes we'll be up to date on the season until next Tuesday. :-) BlueMoonset (talk) 03:01, 11 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you! Hope you're not ODing on "marshmallows". I just replied to your comment in the review with my reasons, and offered up a revised single caption (with options!) if you're unimpressed with my reasoning. ;-) BlueMoonset (talk) 09:42, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DYK ideas?

[edit]

I haven't yet been able to come up with something hookily non-pedestrian for "Michael (Glee)", so I'm hoping your fertile imagination will get me pointed in the right direction. :-) I still have a couple of days before it has to be submitted. I don't want to do another one just about song covers, or even how many of them are in the episode, if I can avoid it, and somehow doing "Bad" in a parking structure sounds kinda boring, though "rival glee clubs battle it out over "Bad" in a parking garage" might have the germ of a possibility. Any suggestions? BlueMoonset (talk) 04:54, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I see one: ... that "Michael", the Glee tribute to Michael Jackson, was filmed at various times with three other episodes? -- Rcej (Robert)talk 07:19, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Yours gave me an idea for a variant on it, which I give below; I think it's a bit punchier:
  • ... that "Michael", the Glee tribute episode to Michael Jackson, took more than a month to film and features performances of ten of his songs?
I suppose I could drop the "ten of his songs" clause, but I thought it added to the curiosity factor—people might wonder which ten songs, and click the link to find out. It did take a month, start to finish ... although there was a vacation in the middle. If you think it's misleading, I can try to reword. (If we go with this one, I'll make sure the "month" bit is explicitly stated in the article; it's only implicit now given the start and end dates of "by December 12" and "January 13".)
Incidentally, overnight thoughts on other hook approaches included mentioning Darren's four days of filming before running off to Broadway, but I prefer your Michael-centric approach. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:18, 16 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Go with what you want. ;) Rcej (Robert)talk 02:18, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I did. ;-) I've just submitted it under January 13. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:56, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, it was just picked up for Prep 2. Assuming no changes in the current schedule or order of promotion from prep to queue, it will be appearing Saturday morning, probably while you're still doing your nightly Wikipedia editing. Thanks again for your help on this one. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:25, 20 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the "Michael" DYK has come and gone ... and "The Spanish Teacher" article was created yesterday, and ought to be DYKed, too. Obviously, the hook needs to rely on Ricky Martin, but nothing's come to me yet. Any ideas, given what's in the article? Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:46, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • How about some wordplay:
This discussion seems to have moved over to Frickative's page, but as long as the topic's open, I thought I'd take the opportunity to mention that Shannon Beiste has just been sent to the GAN mines, and I felt I ought to let you know in case you were moved to be a miner tonight. :-) BlueMoonset (talk) 05:49, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just submitted the DYK (including Elvis!), and I've also updated the Shannon Beiste article with not one but two new images. Hope it's what you were looking for. Thanks again! BlueMoonset (talk) 04:46, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick work on Shannon, and you'll be amazed to know that not only has the DYK been picked up already, it's in Queue 2 and will be published tomorrow at 4pm Eastern. is now a GAN candidate. If you're interested, it's probably still waiting to be grabbed. (Oddly, I had to move it from "Other" to "Episodes", even though I used the correct [new] parameter.) I'll be trying to devise a pithy hook tomorrow for "Heart (Glee)" based on the fact that Rachel's dads had been cast 55 episodes before they actually appeared (and with different actors); I hope you don't mind if I ask for brainstorming help if I come up empty or overlong. Thanks! BlueMoonset (talk) 06:55, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Addendum: the GA Bot moved it back to "Other"; I've put a notice on the GAN talk page about the problem, but if you want to grab the article to review it, I wanted to let you know that it may not be where it's supposed to be. Sorry about that! BlueMoonset (talk) 07:10, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As threatened mentioned above, I've devised that "Heart" DYK, which I placed over at Frickative's, since she was the one who told me how to safely include the hook facts to begin with and I promised to run it by her. While I don't have a GAN for you tonight—probably tomorrow, actually, if all goes well—I thought this was the least I could offer in the interim. ;-) Thanks again for your quick work on "Yes/No"; hard to believe that the Glee task force is up to 70 GAs, much less that I've been involved in 20 of them! And you've reviewed almost all of them, too, which is even more impressive. (This DYK will be my tenth, come to think of it, and will take one of my remaining two QPQ reviews. I'd better start rebuilding my reserve in February.)
Which reminds me: Aircorn says the GAN placement problem's fixed. So my next GAN episode article should go where it ought. :-) BlueMoonset (talk) 04:56, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And that next GAN, for "Blame It on the Alcohol", has just been submitted. The template seems to have generated the correct topic; I'll know in a few more minutes whether it ends up in the correct category. (It did.) I'm happy to report that the "Heart" DYK has been added to Prep 4, and should be showing up on the front page at 0800 UTC on Saturday (or a little under 26 hours from now). Of course, I'm in a slight ordinal disagreement on the talk page, but can live with 57th and 2nd if I must. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:26, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's that time of the month again, when Friday the 13th falls on a Monday, and a recent Glee episode is submitted to the GAN queue, which has just been done with "Michael". I'm hoping that after a Glee-less week you'll be interested in giving this one a look-see. I even remembered to include images this time! Hope you see this tonight, though you may not return until tomorrow.

I should probably also mention that the "On My Way" article was initiated on Saturday the 11th, which gives me a few days yet to come up with a DYK. At the moment, information is sparse about the plot and other details, so I'm hoping that after the Valentine's episode broadcasts on Tuesday, there will be more details bruited about and one of them will prove the ideal hook. Or the hook will be hidden, in which case you can expect to get a query from me right here on this page... BlueMoonset (talk) 04:38, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I expect you're rather busy these days, given your decreased activity hereabouts, but I'm hoping you're nevertheless interested in picking up the final pair of season three episodes from the GAN pile: "The Spanish Teacher" and "On My Way". This will be it until new episodes are broadcast starting April 10, so I expect it'll be close to two months before another season three episode starts rumbling down the tracks. Just so you know, if they pass, these will be the 74th and 75th Glee GAs.

This is not to say that there won't be any episode GANs at all in the interim: Frickative and I are working on "Sexy", which is the only episode from season two that hasn't yet been made into a GA. There's still some work to be done on the Critical reception and Production sections, plus a general copy edit of the whole shebang, so I doubt it will be a GAN candidate before the end of the weekend, if not even later in the month.

I hope all is well, and look forward to seeing your presence online soon. There's always a chance that someone will get to these GANs before you do; on the other hand, they are numbers 46 and 47 on the Episodes list, and not one of the 47 are under review at the present time. Have time for a DYK review?

[edit]

Oddly, it looks like this one, for "Big Brother (Glee)", probably won't appear before the episode airs on Tuesday, but it would be nice if it did. If you have the time—and I expect you're still quite busy—I'd appreciate your sapient eye on the hooks I've proposed, since it's usually my weakest point. (Not a lot to work from this time; they've concentrated on the Matt Bomer side of things to exclusion of almost everything else. A lot about the entire final eight-episode run is being kept under wraps, plotwise.) BlueMoonset (talk) 15:15, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks! As for no Season 3 Vol. 1 DVD, I'm guessing that they're not planning on doing one. They only had nine episodes in the can by December, which was not enough for a DVD, and the next batch was planned to take it to fifteen, which was too many. Anyway, these days they'd probably rather have people sign up for Hulu Plus and watch that way, and then buy the full season DVD when the season stopped being offered. What's a bit more surprising is that the Volume 8 CD isn't out yet and hasn't even been announced, though that may be because there were only five new episodes in winter instead of the originally planned six, and even with the huge song content in "Michael" and "Heart", they may have not have wanted to squeeze the final eight episodes into a single CD. The question is whether they'll be dividing up the episodes seven and six, with "Big Brother" and "Saturday Night Glee-ver" on Vol. 8, or divide after "Big Brother". (They could always do a double-CD release, but I imagine that reduces revenue and harms charting prospects, so I doubt they'll even consider it.) BlueMoonset (talk) 13:34, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Want to write a Glee DYK?

[edit]

"Saturday Night Glee-ver" could use a DYK, but I'm in the throes of packing, and will be away for the rest of its eligibility: it was changed from redirect to article on April 7, which gives another almost two days to come up with something.

I also won't be around when "Dance with Somebody" gets turned into an article, and I might or might not be back in time for the following episode (as yet unnamed), so if you want to keep your eye out for that, it might help. Thanks! Hope all is well, and classes are getting a bit less hectic. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:11, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

QPQ

[edit]

Robert, I hated to do it, but while I'm glad you had no problems with the hook, I had to contradict your tick on the Template:Did you know nominations/Goodbye (Glee) DYK nomination. I still owe a QPQ, and am enough of a rules stickler that I put up the question mark to keep it from being picked up prematurely. I'll let you know when the QPQ is done, so you can return and reassert the tick, as it would be extremely bad form for me to do so. ;-)

I was actually kind of surprised you didn't see any issues or improvements on any of the DYK hooks I've been putting up lately. I was expecting a little something on the Lindsay Lohan one, at least (more than the Gloria Estefan one, which I thought worked pretty well).

Plus, frankly, I'm just as happy to space out the two nominations a bit. Two or three days would be a nice break between them, since they're the last hooks we'll see until late summer, unless a new character page is created. (Kind of doubtful; I don't think any of the other new characters rise to that level.) Though, now that I think on it, the Graduation Album soundtrack is a mere stub right now, with so little prose that it needs to reach 1500 to be eligible, since 5x would be under 900 characters. That might well be doable, once it's been released and has a review or two out there. Hmm...

BTW, I just did the groundwork for the remainder of the "Big Brother" article: I have the material from the various individual reviews, and now I have to synthesize them. I'm hoping for introductory Critical reception and Music paragraphs tomorrow, enough to get the article from Start to C class. With luck, I can send two or three episode articles your way before your next semester begins and the third season ends.

Have you been keeping up with the show? I'm looking forward to Tuesday's prom episode; I wasn't so fond of "Choke", since while I liked many of the individual pieces, it didn't work so well as a narrative whole. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:57, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I never miss an episode of Glee or The Big Bang Theory. I think the "don't text while driving" story with Quinn has been the weakest arc we've ever seen on the show; seriously, you do not survive a life-altering car wreck, yet get patched up and well in time for prom and graduation! For honesty, responsibility and impact, particularly with Glee's teenage viewers, we should've seen Quinn in ICU with tubes attached and covered with bandages, and missing both the senior prom and her graduation. Figgins gives her diploma to her in her hospital room, then she cries in bitter disappoinment the second he leaves! Lesson about texting-n-driving really taught. As soon as I post this, I'll be saving the GAN for this one. Unfortunately, I think it's the only one I'm going to get done before your next school term begins on Monday, and I'm only barely getting it in under the wire.

If you want it, you should probably hurry—I'm actually not sure how long this is going to sit there. It'll be in the Episodes section under Theatre, film and drama. Gen. Quon seems to grab them quickly these days. (He has submitted about three dozen of the forty-odd episode articles in the list.)

I may try to get both "Props" and "Nationals" done quickly; they've come together with reasonable dispatch so far, and the combined reviews for the evening should make gathering data a swifter proposition than usual. Still, you'll be back in classes by then. Should I let you know about them, or better not? BlueMoonset (talk) 05:56, 18 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I just nominated it, though I'm not sure how long it will remain undisturbed. I'm just starting work on "Props", so it may be a couple of days at least before that one's ready. Hope you can find time for "Nationals"! BlueMoonset (talk) 01:58, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks as always for taking "Nationals" under your wing and bringing it through to championship status. "Props (Glee)" has just acquired its images (including one I found and uploaded myself), so I'll be submitting it in a couple of minutes. Hope you get the chance to prop this one up as well. ;-) BlueMoonset (talk) 05:31, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Long time, no GAN...

[edit]

I have no idea whether it will still be there when you look—the list is short and there are new reviewers since last we did this, plus you're not on as often these days—but I'm just about to submit my first GAN in ages: not quite two months, but close enough. I hope you're able to snag it.

It's the one remaining episode from the second season: "Sexy". Someone else had written it up originally, and then Frickative and I were going to work on revising it together—I was going to take music, she was going to take critical reception, and we were going to share Production. Then she moved, and never came back to Wikipedia, though she's been spotted elsewhere. And, finally, having stalled on the critical reception section of "Goodbye", I've finished off the upgrades to the one for "Sexy" instead, and spruced up other places in the article tonight, so here it is. I hope I haven't forgotten how to do this. ;-) BlueMoonset (talk) 05:49, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Grabbed in nine minutes. I think that's some kind of a record. Think I'll go to sleep and see what awaits me in the morning. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:13, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hey there...how's summer treating you? Mine will get better in 9 days; semester is over! I'll have a whole month to goof-off, and Wikipede..lol. Nine minutes, they beat me to the draw! Maybe next time I can grab it first. How many season 3 eps do we have to GA? I haven't kept track. ;) Rcej (Robert)talk 08:55, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DYK question

[edit]

Hello, I've noticed you are quite active on Did you know. Would you be willing to review Template:Did you know nominations/List of awards and nominations received by Arrested Development? It has been without comment for almost two weeks, and I hoped to gain some feedback for the nomination. Thanks. -- Wikipedical (talk) 22:18, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DYK reviews

[edit]

Robert, just a quick reminder to check to make sure the user's done a QPQ review before giving final approval. A couple of M.Mario's that you recently reviewed should have gotten the question mark icon rather than the green tick because he has over five DYKs to his credit.

Glad to see you doing more DYK reviewing; it's been a while! BlueMoonset (talk) 22:39, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thx...I'll be more diggy next time ;) Rcej (Robert)talk 06:45, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
