Salaar

[edit]

In Salaar, Deccan Chronicle states "production cost of 'Salaar’ is just Rs 270 crore-plus including star and technicians fees besides making costs and VFX" which means it is not overall production cost. Other sources which are more reliable gives clear budget. SonaMani1 (talk) 13:04, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mensxp is not reliable and others either are outdated such as this [1]. Deccan Chronicle gives detail on rumors of budget. RangersRus (talk) 13:08, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@DareshMohan: thank you for the message. Is this not followed?
"Avoid beginning a sentence with a figure:
Use: There were many matches; 23 ended in a draw. Or: There were many matches. Twenty-three ended in a draw.
Not: There were many matches. 23 ended in a draw." Is someone not following this or you had different concern? RangersRus (talk) 12:07, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You must be talking about this "Integers from zero to nine are spelled out in words." This rule should be followed. I was not aware of this and thank you for showing this to me. If someone is not following this, please show them this on editor's talk page. Please let me know where I can help. RangersRus (talk) 12:15, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You declined this. Anther editor has made a pseudo acceptance, using AFC templates to do so, but is not an accepted reviewer in any sense, having only 167 edits in their edit log. You may wish to consider the article. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 09:14, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I tried but trying to find out who can help. You are right that it has been fiddled with that the move back to draft is not so simple (for me). The editor who moved also posted a fake AFC acceptance message. RangersRus (talk) 10:45, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Page mover rights do not allow me to do this either. Thank you for commenting on the SPI. If you are unfamiliar with opening an SPI, Twinkle does it all, automagically.
The next question is to AfD or not to AfD. It is a disputed draftification, but does it pass WP:NFILM? It cannot be returned to draft without consensus at AfD now. See WP:DRAFTOBJECT

Request on 19:29:16, 13 November 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by Larkmean

[edit]

Hello there,

Hoping you can help me learn. I'm not sure why Gaurav Kapadia's coverage in publications like the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Financial Times is insufficient evidence of notability. He seems to keep a low profile—nearly zero interviews—which is one reason I want to create a Wikipedia page about him. Google Trends data shows his name is regularly googled: https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&geo=US&q=gaurav%20kapadia&hl=en

Specifically, I don't know if I agree with the assessment that there are only passing mentions of the subject in the citations provided:

I'd like to either revise my submission to make the subject's notability clear or be convinced that the subject is indeed not notable. I'm flexible and open, so I'm very down to learn that something I'm interested in doesn't meet the criteria. But in this case, I'm reading the contribution guidelines and reasoning for not getting published, and it doesn't make sense to me. Makes me think I just need to revise something in my submission or that some information must have been muddled in my writing.

In the finance and investing world, the subject is a well known figure, and after hearing him come up in technology and NYC conversations and having to learn his story on my own, I would like to understand what else I need in order to publish this information on Wikipedia as a central source of truth for others.

If there's anything you can help me further understand, I would be happy to put in the work to meet requirements. But at a glance, I'm not seeing the lack of reputable sources or lack of in-depth coverage in the information I've provided.

Larkmean (talk) 19:29, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here are some criterias to consider notability.
  • The person has received a well-known and significant award or honor, or has been nominated for such an award several times; or
  • The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in a specific field; or
  • The person has an entry in a country's standard national biographical dictionary (e.g. the Dictionary of National Biography). * The person's work (or works) has: (a) become a significant monument, (b) been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) won significant critical attention, or (d) been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums.
You have to avoid criteria based on search engine statistics (for example, Google hits or Alexa ranking).
Please make sure to use secondary independent reliable sources with significant coverage that shows that the subject meets the criteria above. Source like radaris.com is not accepted. When you believe that these criterias are met, please re-submit the draft. RangersRus (talk) 21:45, 13 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Devara box office

[edit]

Please have a look on Devara: Part 1 box office. While Pinkvilla stated it grossed only 403 in its final run,[2] BH stated that it grossed 521 crore in just 18 days.[3] BH source does not feel good for me here. Charliehdb (talk) 13:27, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Make a range from 408 - 521 and add both pinkvilla and BH sources. Some editors do make errors when reporting but BH is still reliable source. NDTV and Times of India have reported figure of over 500 globally so maybe it could be right but I did not find any other source that says 521+. RangersRus (talk) 13:41, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
DNA reported the collection to be 380 crore. It too can be added. Charliehdb (talk) 13:50, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please add it as I'm not free nowadays. Charliehdb (talk) 13:51, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, then it will be 380 - 521 showing all three sources. RangersRus (talk) 13:52, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Assassination of Muhammad Ghori rejected

[edit]

Hi, you recently rejected my draft due to it being a fork from the Muhammad Ghori wiki. I read over the contect forks wikipedia and it states that it may be acceptable if the article proposed is a 'spin off' from the main wikipedia page (in this case Muhammad Ghori) to further expand on a sub-topic, in this case the assassination specifically of him. I was reading some of the examples on the wikipedia page describing where it may be acceptable and it was topics such as: the death of Michael Jackson spun off from the Michael Jackson wikipedia, so I feel it should be re-submitted to be added to the main space.

I can add on further information if you feel as though content is lacking specifically about his assassination, though the events specifically building up to it section has a decent amount of information already.

Thank you in advance. Zenithxxx (talk) 19:23, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to Tourism in Adelaide. Notifying factual misrepresentation of data by an established editor

[edit]

Please address the subtitle vandalism being carried out by an editor on the List of highest-grossing Kannada films (KGF: Chapter 2). The editor is misrepresenting facts by selectively removing reliable sources and introducing sources that do not meet established reliability standards, enabling figures to be manipulated to suit their preferred narrative.

For ranking articles, giving undue preference to any particular film undermines the fairness and integrity of the entire ranking. Additionally, the selective removal of reliable sources compromises the credibility of the financial summary, as accuracy is paramount in such data, not arbitrary adjustments.

Due to personal reasons, I will be unable to contribute to Wikipedia for some time. I kindly request you to address this issue promptly. Anoop Bhatia (talk) 06:10, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Did you even look at it before reviewing it? You declined it because it had no inline citations... when it clearly does? Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 23:55, 1 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I did look when I reviewed it here and that time there were no online citation. What you are seeing now is after my review the editor added urls. Is that clear now? RangersRus (talk) 01:53, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Your comment said exactly, Please add page numbers, links, inline citation to help with verification. URLs aren’t required for sourcing but it does help. Denying based off that alone isn’t correct, if there was no sources then it would be a different thing. The editor also used {{sfn}}s with page numbers even before your review. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 01:57, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Denied because I wasn't able to verify it then because url weren't there but yes it helps now to review it. Saw many articles where page numbers are made up with fake references so to be more cautious wanted to have the editor add more information to help with verification. This is ok because editors can improve the reference like they did to resubmit for review again which they did later after review. RangersRus (talk) 02:07, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
…? Just look it up on a search engine.. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 02:08, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did. RangersRus (talk) 02:09, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Then if you can look it up on google or whatever, it didn’t fail verification. You can put the title and the author and go to whatever search engine and look it up and see it there. Like I said before, URLs aren’t required but are helpful, Denying based on no URLs shouldn’t happen. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 02:11, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said that I looked up on google but didn't catch what I was looking for as I could only get snippets with no verification. Nothing wrong in being cautious and denying actually helped the editor in improving. So all win win here. RangersRus (talk) 02:14, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But yes I will be more proactive in my best to search deeply. RangersRus (talk) 02:15, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed citations of International Business Times used for the Box Office section of this article per WP:IBTIMES. However, this section also uses TOI to source the figures. There isn’t multiple critic reviews

[edit]

I couldn’t find a single critic’s review of America: The Simon & Garfunkel Collection. Newtatoryd222 (talk) 15:04, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Newtatoryd222: The album needs to meet any one of this criteria to pass notability.
  • The recording has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble who created it.
This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries except for the following:
Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about the recording, and all advertising that mentions the recording, including manufacturers' advertising.
Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar), in most cases.
  • The recording has appeared on any country's national music chart.
  • The recording has been certified gold or higher in at least one country.
  • The recording has won or been nominated for a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury, Choice or Grammis award.
  • The recording was performed in a medium that is notable, e.g., a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article).
  • The recording was in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network.
  • The recording has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or television network.
Can you get the page to meet any one of these criteria? RangersRus (talk) 15:23, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

“Significant achievements”

[edit]

Hello! For Draft:Manon (singer), I was wondering what qualifies for having significant achievement outside the group, as per your comment.

Manon's modeling career is well-documented, where 30+ photoshoots and collaborations with fashion brands were featured. Similarly, she had already garnered 29 million total views and followers prior to Katseye. Additionally, she was featured in several Swiss music videos and worked with the Adidas x NOVA app in which she made several contributions. Should I include these in the draft to further solidify notability ? Warmtoned 🕯 talk! 15:48, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes what you mentioned are significant and yes please do add all that. This page Jisoo will give you a better idea of the significant achievement as an individual, both independent and as part of the group. She is a member of Black Pink. This page will also help you with format. Did I answer your question? RangersRus (talk) 16:24, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes! Thank you. I was wondering why some other members of a group like Anna Tanaka had articles if they didn't show notability outside of the group, so I was just generally confused what it meant, thank you though! Warmtoned 🕯 talk! 19:36, 12 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dear User:RangersRus, I am cordially sorry for the mix up with messages; my mistake. Also many thanks to BuySomeApples (talk). Thank you both for your guidance! This movie had several reviews at that time. But this movie was made in Ukraine and candidly depicted despicable working conditions in the Soviet Union and drastic failures of Moscow officialdom. Ukrainian sources are harder to reach now. Two Moscow based reviews are rather long, and both are available online. A brief summary of each is now added to the article. [edit]

Hello RangersRus, thank you for your review of my article. However, I have received already a similar feedback before and solved it (from my point of view). As I wrote in the previous communication to other reviewers: Please let me know what exactly which of my sources is not enough "in-depth, reliable, secondary and independent" enough. I am sorry for giving you more work, but after multiple changes requested by reviewers, I really need to understand what particular source or information exactly in the article does not qualify. Kindly be asked for your understanding.

Merged account (talk) 05:55, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The page gets most of its content from one source with significant coverage. All other sources are either not independent of the owner of the organization or just have passing mention. Some source's reliability is also questionable. You need multiple sources with significant coverage with organization depth to pass notability. Please refer to WP:ORGCRIT and WP:NCORP. Kalki Box office discussion

[edit]

Hi @RangersRus, just wanted your opinion on the BO for Kalki. I recently noticed Pinkvilla reported multiple numbers for Kalki movie. It stated it grossed 1027 crore [6], [7] which is a detailed BO report. But in an another article about Prabhas it reported 1200 [8] which has been used in Kalki wiki page. Your opinion on this? Tonyy Starkk (talk) 08:04, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You take the latest report in this case and add that to the page. When journalists get the boxoffice figures through various sources, it gets updated in later reports after further analysis and you can see that the last two latest reports from November (excluding 3D) and December (including 3D) have same figures. RangersRus (talk) 10:11, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ranges of figures

[edit]

Hi RangersRus.
If reliable sources differ over figures like budget and gross, we show the range. Please do not just pick the number or source you like, as you did at Singham Again. Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 13:20, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It was not about picking but about which source covers more detailed worldwide report and bollywood hungama is dominant source as compared to Pinkvilla for hindi films. But as I was explaining to another editor, I was ok with him or anyone to revert my change as I think it is ok to add range from Pinkvilla too and you can see I self reverted my change on two other hindi films pages like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Stree 2. Speedy deletion nomination of Luka Rajić (singer)

[edit]

Hello RangersRus,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Luka Rajić (singer) for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Luka Rajić (singer) to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Hi Bunnypranav. It is not my page. The creator is User_talk:EcLiPsE285. I was the AFC reviewer who moved to page from namespace back to the draft and declined the page for failing to meet WP:SINGER. RangersRus (talk) 13:42, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Syed Muhammad Faisal Sami

[edit]

Hi @RangersRus, thanks for reviewing the article. Please can you help me with what you thought was missing so I can go ahead and fix that and re submit? HumanitarianServices (talk) 16:38, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @HumanitarianServices:. I put tags where sources and better sources are needed. Please make sure to add reliable secondary independent source. Anything about him should not come from his organization or his interviews. Should be completely independent. When you make these changes, resubmit for review and let me know. Your page is very close to acceptance and I would review and if all looks well, I will accept it. RangersRus (talk) 18:16, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @RangersRus, thank you very much for your invaluable feedback. I have made those edits and added in what changes I have made in the review box before publishing.
Thanks HumanitarianServices (talk) 19:53, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @RangersRus, thank you for accepting! Could you please help me with how to add an image of Syed along with the standard layout that has his details in there? Also, how do I go about linking his social media to the article?
Thanks HumanitarianServices (talk) 21:11, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You don't link anyone's social media. DACartman (talk) 21:12, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for letting me know! How would I go about adding an image? HumanitarianServices (talk) 21:14, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for being part of the fight against vandalism on English Wikipedia, and being one of the top five most active pending changes reviewers in the last 30 days. Your hard work is very much appreciated, please keep it up. – DreamRimmer (talk) 15:36, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Luc Hensill - I give up

[edit]

My dad was famous, he was on tv, did multiple movies, played with jimi hendrix, inspired the logo of woodstock, i don't know what it needs more :| The producer doesn't have any references, but he's ... ? https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Jack_Kluger how come this is accepted but my dad with multiple movies, compilations, news paper articles is not. It was in the 60-70's, I can't find any charts of the time ... So only the beatles and big others groups could be in wikipedia ? So please tell me how this Kluger guy could stay on wikipedia with only two source, one of wich is totally false. Btw this is the guy who had the idea to call the band "the klan" ... thanks for the help, sorry, but i'm so frustrated :( Raoni Hensill (talk) 01:55, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry for your frustration. Article you created like all other AFC reviewers, including me, have noted that "significant coverage" is missing. You need multiple secondary independent reliable sources for the subject to meet WP:NACTOR or WP:FILMMAKER. The other article Jack Kluger would not have made it to namespace if it went through AFC review. The page was created by Chubbles who created the page after becoming confirmed editor who can bypass AFC review and directly publish the page. I will ping @DoubleGrazing:, a veteran, who can give some opinion here about your page and on Jack Kluger. RangersRus (talk) 02:29, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the ping, RangersRus. However, I don't hear any pleading from sockpuppets. If @Raoni Hensill wishes to discuss the matter, they should go back to their original blocked account and lodge an appeal from there. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:44, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Heavens, did not know about sock. RangersRus (talk) 14:11, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Rejection of article “Ógie Ó Ceilleachair”

[edit]

Dear sir/madame,

I believe that the article I wrote on Irish author Ógie Ó Ceilleachair has been rejected due to the lack of clarity that Ó Ceilleachair is notable enough for Wikipedia. I strongly believe that Ó Ceilleachair is notible due to his achievements in the writing of “Katfish agus Scéalta Eile” and the achievements that brought to Irish language literature. Ó Ceilleachair also is already included in Ga.Wikipedia (The Irish Language Version of Wikipedia) meaning that he must have already met their notability guidelines which I presume are not much different to the ones at en.Wikipedia. If the problem is with the article then please let me know and I shall take time to fix the article to Wikipedia’s standards. GetitDunne (talk) 08:54, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sources are the main problem I can find. Multiple secondary independent reliable sources help and not sources with promotion/advertising of selling books or podcast. It will help if you can find sources that shows if the person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work that have been the primary subject of multiple independent critical reviews or the person's work (or works) has: (a) become a significant monument, (b) been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) won significant critical attention, or (d) been represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums. A good fit for NPP

[edit]

Hello RangersRus!

  • New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting, or could meet the guidelines for granting soon if you build a track record in one of these three areas: article creation, articles for deletion, or articles for creation reviewing. These demonstrate proficiency with notability, and are what admins typically evaluate when deciding to grant this permission.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please make sure you have some experience with new article creation, articles for deletion, or articles for creation reviewing, then consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Personal comment: Your AFC contributions are highly appreciated and valuable, I feel you'll do good work for WP:NPP. Hope to see you around! ~/Bunnypranav:<ping> 12:28, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Silverdale Capital

[edit]

Hi @RangersRus, thanks for reviewing the submission. I addressed the reasons in the most recent draft. Could you please clarify what needs to be changed? All the sources are secondary sources. Thanks in advance Reddot9 (talk) 16:56, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What you are missing is significant coverage on the organisation in sources. It should have multiple secondary independent sources and should have organization depth information, not just passing mention or a nomination of someone as director or stats. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject is not sufficient to establish notability. Deep or significant coverage in secondary independent sources provides an overview, description, commentary, survey, study, discussion, analysis, or evaluation of the product, company, or organization. You can also refer to WP:ORGDEPTH, WP:ORGCRIT, WP:SUBSTANTIAL to help you. RangersRus (talk) 20:58, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Draft: Hanne Verbruggen (singer)

[edit]

Hello @RangersRus, this article is still not accepted, while it is simply sourced and almost the same as her own original Dutch Wikipedia article. Moreover, I see little difference with other English Wikipedias of (former) K3 members. Like the articel of her own predecessor Karen Damen, why is this a good article and Hanne's not?

Aaron371 (talk) 18:57, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Article Karen Damen can end up nominated for deletion because it is not a good article at all. It was created back in 2010 back and somehow the editor ended up directly publishing and skipped AFC review. For your article on Hanne Verbruggen, please find sources:
  • where singer had a single or album on any country's national music chart.
  • Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one country.
  • Has received non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country.
  • Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable).
Please also read all criteria here Wikipedia:Notability_(music)#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles that you need to meet for your article to pass notability. RangersRus (talk) 20:26, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@RangersRus This is literally all mentioned and with sources in the articles K3 and K3 discography. And that's what I'm referring to. Hanne Verbruggen is not a solo singer, but is part of a pop/girl group. When I look at the personal articles of the members of Spice Girls, they refer to the discography in exactly the same way.
