Deletion review for Rina Bovrisse
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Tuliram Ronghang. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, you might want to participate in the deletion review.
I would like to appeal the deletion review for the Rina Bovrisse page. The page was deleted due to heavy editing wars and hack attacks. Conflict of interest by the hackers are implied.
N.CelikovicLet's Talk ! 06:10, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
- @N.Celikovic: Given the concerns about sockpuppeting and possible paid editing related to this article, I do not think it would be appropriate for me to reverse the consensus I found at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rina Rose. It appears that you have copied another editor's message about a different article, but have not actually opened a Wikipedia:Deletion review for the Rina Bovrisse/Rina Rose article. You are welcome to do that if you wish, but a better next step in this case would be to create an appropriately-sourced draft. That would allow uninvolved editors to review the article you propose to create, and decide whether it addresses the issues raised in the AfD. --RL0919 (talk) 00:31, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

Deletion review for Rener Gracie
Hello, RL0919. I'm writing to request reversion of Rener Gracie's page which was recently deleted and redirected to the Gracie Family page for lack of notability and possible COI (I know the subject). The discussion ended with two KEEPs and three REDIRECTs. I participated in the deletion discussion. I justified my objectivity as a contributor to counter the suggestion of COI. I also made several edits to the article to establish the subject's notability with more to come. In short, I agree with the aggregation of most Gracie family members (there have been 11 redirects), but this one subject warrants a dedicated page. I admittedly dumped 20-30 references to buy time by showing that there were many articles in the hopper that I could add to establish notability. But, I subsequently added content highlighting the subject's contributions to national efforts to combat bullying, sexual harassment, and police violence and mapped them to supporting citations. In the process of upgrading the article, I found that the contributors and a "senior editor" were offering to re-write the article for thousands of dollars to include generating citations from top tier sources - clearly a scam that led me to believe this may have been a targeted attack on the article. Please consider restoring the page to its latest version so that I can continue to upgrade it. Billodom2 (talk) 14:23, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- @Billodom2, the page has been redirected, but it is not deleted. You can access the redirect page itself here, including the "View history" link that allows you to access the older versions of the page. You are welcome to copy one of the old versions to a userspace draft to work on adding sources. When it is ready, you can ask to have your draft replace the redirect. (See Wikipedia:So you made a userspace draft for more information about how to submit your draft.) If you do make such a copy, please use an edit summary when creating it that attributes the text to where you copied it from; a typical phrasing would be "copied content from [[Rener Gracie]]; see that page's history for attribution". RL0919 (talk) 18:20, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
- @RL0919, @Billodom2 Gracie clearly passes Wikipedia:Notability as a coach and an entrepreneur. The article was just poorly written and referenced it just needed to be improved not sent to AfD and redirected. It has now been rescued. Speedy deletion nomination of University Scholars (disambiguation)
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on University Scholars (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
- disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
- is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. gnu57 21:27, 17 May 2023 (UTC)

- @Lingzhi.Renascence: I used some of your ideas in this edit. That brings it to 687 words for the section. I tried to retain the links to notable works and artists so readers could easily navigate to the articles about them rather than having to consult the sources. I also won't be removing the mention of the $20 bill, which was a very misguided suggestion IMO. --RL0919 (talk) 15:05, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
- Mmm yes removing the bill will spark arguments and protests of "WIKIMAGA" and counter-protests of "WIKIWOKE". But I sorta mildly disagree with your other point. But whatever. Someone will figure it out. § Lingzhi (talk|check refs) 15:11, 3 June 2023 (UTC)
- My greater concern about the bill is that regardless of whether it happens or not, the plan to do it has been widely covered in sources, to the point where not mentioning would be a significant oversight. --RL0919 (talk) 15:16, 3 June 2023 (UTC)

- Following an RfC, editors indefinitely site-banned by community consensus will now have all rights, including sysop, removed.
- As a part of the Wikimedia Foundation's IP Masking project, a new policy has been created that governs the access to temporary account IP addresses. An associated FAQ has been created and individual communities can increase the requirements to view temporary account IP addresses.
- Bot operators and tool maintainers should schedule time in the coming months to test and update their tools for the effects of IP masking. IP masking will not be deployed to any content wiki until at least October 2023 and is unlikely to be deployed to the English Wikipedia until some time in 2024.
- The arbitration case World War II and the history of Jews in Poland has been closed. The topic area of Polish history during World War II (1933-1945) and the history of Jews in Poland is subject to a "reliable source consensus-required" contentious topic restriction.
- Following a community referendum, the arbitration policy has been modified to remove the ability for users to appeal remedies to Jimbo Wales.

Why is the war of Mehmed and Skanderbeg not worthwhile, although the wars of the absurd pashas are worth adding to Wikipedia? Then why don't you delete the little wars against the pashas that are worthless? Keremmaarda (talk) 19:38, 1 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Keremmaarda: Keeping or deleting a Wikipedia article is not a question of "worth". Most participants at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Battle of Burshek did not believe there was enough coverage of the battle in reliable sources to show that it is notable enough for an article. An event can be meaningful or even important to some people without attracting enough public discussion in the historical record to meet our notability criteria. As for articles about other conflicts, if there are other articles that you believe do not satisfy the notability requirements, you are free to nominate those at Articles for Deletion. --RL0919 (talk) 23:11, 1 August 2023 (UTC)

- Special:BlockedExternalDomains is a new tool that allows easier blocking of plain domains (and their subdomains). This is more easily searchable and is faster for the software to use than the existing MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. It does not support regex (for complex cases), URL path-matching, or the MediaWiki:Spam-whitelist. (T337431)
- The arbitration cases named Scottywong and AlisonW closed 10 July and 16 July respectively.
- The SmallCat dispute arbitration case is in the workshop phase.
Hello, Richard,
I had an edit conflict when I was trying to close this discussion. But then I refreshed the screen and I saw you had closed this AFD with almost the same comment I had written out! Sometimes it's good to see that another discussion closer has come to the same opinion that you have. I mean, the all "Deletes" and all "Keeps" discussions are simple compared to ones like this where there are a variety of different outcomes favored.
And even though I hadn't received any complaints on my User talk page, I was getting the message that I'm too quick to relist mixed discussions like this one so I'm closing more AFDs with a "No consensus" closure than I did several months ago. I always thought that no participant is satisfied with a No consensus closure but often that's an accurate reflection of the conversation that has been going on for the past week(s).
I hope you had a restful summer if you live in the Northern Hemisphere! Liz Read! Talk! 17:23, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
- Great minds think alike, of course. With the divided positions and no new commentary after the second relist, it was hard to do anything else. A third relist is typically just delaying the inevitable. It used to be that even a second relist was unusual, but over time it seems like participation in AfD has dropped, so one or two relists to drum up enough participation is more common now. --RL0919 (talk) 22:07, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Chanel Ayan
Hi RL0919. Would you mind taking a look at Chanel Ayan? You deleted it back in January 2020 per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Chanel Ayan, but it was recreated a few days ago. If the recreation is essentially no different than the version you deleted, then it probably would qualify for WP:G4. If it's significantly different, then the {{Old Afd multi}} template on the article's talk page might need updating to reflect that the recreation is not the same as what was deleted. FWIW, there's nothing in the latest version's page history to indicate that this was refunded via a WP:DRV discussion, and it appears to just be a new recreation using the same name. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:24, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: The new version does have different text, and more important, a number of new source citations with at least some that appear to be better quality sources than what was in the deleted version. So it looks like a legitimate new creation that should not be subject to WP:G4 deletion. But it was a good call to have it checked. --RL0919 (talk) 04:24, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking a look. I only stumbled upon the article because of the infobox image and then noticed the "Afd multi" template on the talk page. Not sure what to do about that template since it technically no longer seems applicable. Is a history merge usually done in the case of recreations such as this? -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:31, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- The new article doesn’t seem to be based on the old, so restoring the old history wouldn’t be appropriate. In this kind of case, the old AFD record just stays there to document what happened to the old version. It doesn’t require that anything particular should be done to the new article. The only reason to remove it would be if this was a different subject with the same name, but this is the same subject just with a better article. --RL0919 (talk) 05:35, 27 September 2023 (UTC)

Article for Deletion
Respected Sir, My two articles, one on Rajeshree Singhania and other on Rabinarayan Acharaya was deleted. It is requested to move back the article to draft space. I am a new to Wikipedia editing and I moved the article the article to main space as I felt that I am permitted to do it after 90 days. Sir, I have put efforts for both article. I request you kind consideration to move back the article to draft space so that I can do more efforts to improve the articles in accordance with Wikipedia guidelines. Neelesh Pandiyath (talk) 16:54, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Neelesh Pandiyath: I can restore the draft about Rajeshree Singhania for you, as long as you understand that it should be improved with reliable sources that provide information about her, not just things that she has written herself or mentions of her name, and this should be done before moving the draft back to a regular article. The best thing is to submit the draft for review and let the reviewer move it if they believe it has enough sourcing. When you say "Rabinarayan Acharaya", I assume you probably mean Rabinarayan Acharya? I can't find a deleted article called "Rabinarayan Acharaya", but a typo for the common name/title 'Acharya' seems likely. Assuming I'm right and you want me to restore Rabinarayan Acharya as a draft, then the same advice applies about when/how to move it back to an article. In both cases, if you move the same text back to an article without significant improvements, they are subject to speedy deletion for "Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion" (see WP:G4).
- If you could please reply to confirm that you understand (and whether I am right about the typo), I will then restore both pages as drafts. (FYI to User:Extraordinary Writ, who is the admin who deleted Rabinarayan Acharya. I assume you won't mind if I restore and draftify in this situation.) RL0919 (talk) 17:22, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yep, that's fine. I'd just add, Neelesh Pandiyath, that both articles were deleted because editors felt these people weren't notable (i.e. that they just weren't eligible for a Wikipedia article right now), and that's not generally a problem that can be fixed by improving the draft. Unless there are good sources that the editors in the deletion discussion weren't aware of, it may just be too soon for these people to have a Wikipedia article right now. - Following a motion, remedy 6 (One-revert rule) of the The Troubles case has been amended.
- An arbitration case named Industrial agriculture has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case close 8 November.

Gary Wales Actor
Hey, RL0919
I hope your well, this is Gary Wales, i believe the page that was created for me was removed by yourself, is there any way to get that restored or moved to Draft to improve - Gary Wales (actor) Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gary Wales (actor) (2nd nomination)
Thank you for your time Gary — Preceding unsigned comment added by Garywalesactor (talk • contribs) 03:03, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Garywalesactor: I don't see anything problematic in the deleted content, so I am happy to restore it as a draft. That said, if you are the subject of the proposed article, I strongly encourage you to review the advice at Wikipedia:Autobiography and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest before doing any editing on it. I will leave a standardized welcome message on your user talk page with similar advice and more links. The draft will be at Draft:Gary Wales (actor) and should be restored within a few minutes of this reply. --RL0919 (talk) 19:00, 18 November 2023 (UTC)
- @RL0919: Thank you so much for that, Im Daniel Hicks, Gary's Assistant as Gary couldn't access his account due to it being so close. I have made a few edits, i've added his awards, i did try to add more references but it wasn't letting me. Any advice you could give me that would be great, again thank you for brining back the article as a draft. We hope it will be published at some stage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DanielHicksAss (talk • contribs) 02:05, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- @DanielHicksAss: It looks like you were able to make additions after you posted your message here, so I'm going to assume all is well unless you let me know otherwise. Please note that as the subject's assistant, the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest rules still apply to your edits, so I encourage you to review the guideline if you have not already. Happy editing. --RL0919 (talk) 19:07, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- @RL0919yes I did manage to that. Thank you, I have stated on the page in the talk section and also on my own page the affiliation. Could you check and make sure I did it right?
- thank you again DanielHicksAss (talk) 19:40, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

- @DanielHicksAss: The template on the Draft talk page looks right. For your own user page, that template doesn't work – it is made for Talk spaces, not User spaces. You can use the {{User COI}} template instead. --RL0919 (talk) 19:47, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- @RL0919 Hello Richard, I hope your well. I have updated the Article as much as i can. Let me know what you think? Do you think its ready for publication, or do you think it will require more? Draft:Gary Wales (actor) DanielHicksAss (talk) 14:20, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- @RL0919Hello, I hope your well, Happy New Year to you. I have now submitted the article. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated DanielHicksAss (talk) 01:40, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Administrators' newsletter – December 2023
News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2023).
- Following a talk page discussion, the Administrators' accountability policy has been updated to note that while it is considered best practice for administrators to have notifications (pings) enabled, this is not mandatory. Administrators who do not use notifications are now strongly encouraged to indicate this on their user page.
- Following a motion, the Extended Confirmed Restriction has been amended, removing the allowance for non-extended-confirmed editors to post constructive comments on the "Talk:" namespace. Now, non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace solely to make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided that their actions are not disruptive.
- The Arbitration Committee has announced a call for Checkusers and Oversighters, stating that it will currently be accepting applications for CheckUser and/or Oversight permissions at any point in the year.
- Eligible users are invited to vote on candidates for the Arbitration Committee until 23:59 December 11, 2023 (UTC). Candidate statements can be seen here.
