- I reinstated the background section on why the compilations are forty hadith, and not some other number. I'm not so sure about the quote: what does it illustrate, other than that it is from the book? --Pgallert (talk) 16:29, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- the user removed it because he think the forty hadith just include interpretation, but it is include narration too. I think it's better to nominate to one of the tradition of that book. it's best way for introduce the book. isn't it?Lstfllw203 (talk) 17:07, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- That wasn't about the quote, that was about the sentence In the preface to Forty Hadith, Khomeini writes that he had permission to relate hadith on the authority of three Islamic scholars, who he calls his teachers: Shaykh Muhammad Reza Najafi Isfahani, Shaykh Abbas Qummi, and Allamah Sayyid Muhsin Amin al-Amili. Now, I read this sentence in a way that Khomeini describes the last part of the chain of narrators - not sure if I am correct in this, but if so then it is certainly relevant for the article on the book. FreeatlastChitchat does not see any relevance. Lstfllw203, can you clarify the meaning of this sentence? --Pgallert (talk) 19:23, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Your analysis
I am a bit concerned your analysis here may be true. But I don't understand how Glassdoor works. Can you readvertise old surveys? Do the results refer to Sue or to Lila? Peter Damian (talk) 21:10, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think it is just an always-open forum where you are required to have a corporate email address in order to participate. Many of the CEO-critical opinions date from before Lila's tenure and must logically be referring to Sue. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 08:59, 13 January 2016 (UTC)
Help decide the future of Wikimania
The Wikimedia Foundation is currently running a consultation on the value and planning process of Wikimania, and is open until 18 January 2016. The goals are to (1) build a shared understanding of the value of Wikimania to help guide conference planning and evaluation, and (2) gather broad community input on what new form(s) Wikimania could take (starting in 2018).
After reviewing the consultation, we'd like to hear your feedback on on this survey.
In addition, feel free to share any personal experiences you have had at at a Wikimedia movement conference, including Wikimania. We plan to compile and share back outcomes from this consultation in February.
With thanks,
I JethroBT (WMF) (talk), from Community Resources 23:46, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
Revert
Hi, [[1]] was actually a rather insidious vandalism that took me a while to identify. Another editor has reverted it back to my version. The editor who committed the original vandalism has a rather long history of vandalism: https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Special:Log/block&page=User%3A196.14.21.218 Thanks for your courtesy notice. JS (talk) 06:25, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @Jayanta Sen:, and thanks for your notice, too. Your edit duplicated a line of text, that's why I thought it to be a rather strange vandalism revert. I have looked it up in the mean time, there is indeed no Gatsby in the cited book. Sorry for the trouble, cheers, Pgallert (talk) 15:39, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
- No need for an apology, thank you for your efforts. Such disguised vandalism is hard to track (it existed for almost 3 years), I thought the name didn't sound Dutch so I checked. JS (talk) 17:33, 22 January 2016 (UTC)
Towards a New Wikimania results
Last December, I invited you to share your views on the value of Wikimedia conferences and the planning process of Wikimania. We have completed analysis of these results and have prepared this report summarizing your feedback and important changes for Wikimania starting in 2018 as an experiment. Feedback and comments are welcome at the discussion page. Thank you so much for your participation. I JethroBT (WMF), Community Resources, 22:47, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
ACC Notice
Hi Pgallert, this notification is to let you know that I've removed the accountcreator user right from your account as you have not logged any account creation actions in over 45 days. This is procedural and not a result of misuse of the tool. If you would like to become involved in the process again please contact a tool administrator, and request the user right be re-added at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Account creator. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Thank you! Swarm ♠ 20:36, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
- Cool User:Swarm, you guys forgot again the users that do not use the ACC tool but have 'accountcreator' for their occasional outreach activities. Considering that I'll lose it every time after not using it for 45 days I shall not request it back. I'll simply restrict my next class to six members. I'm sure this will improve the encyclopaedia. Pgallert (talk) 21:32, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
- Community consensus restricts this permission to active account creators, that includes those in outreach and educational activities. This is a procedural action in line with community consensus and should not affect your editing or the encyclopedia in any way. You should have no problem obtaining this permission if it is needed again, but I will note that the activity requirement is not and never has been strictly enforced and it has indeed been substantially longer than 45 days since you've had to employ this permission. Swarm ♠ 01:57, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Swarm: I'm sure you have consensus among the toolserver user community for this particular round of removals. I doubt you do among the people doing outreach. The policy says may be removed, not must, shall, or will. The last time it happened there was at least a prior notice for me so that I could chime into the discussion. Should I ever need the flag again, it will cost 10 minutes of my time, 15 minutes for an admin to check my standing, and then 5 minutes of your time to remove it again. Not a good use of volunteers' time if you ask me. Cheers, --Pgallert (talk) 05:43, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- On the contrary, the consensus was determined by an RfC that was open to the community for over two months. And I can't see any way it would take more than 60 seconds to submit a procedural request to have the right re-enabled, nor should it take longer than that to look at your logs and reenable the permission. Procedural revocations are always overturned almost automatically, provided inactivity is no longer the case. For the record, I understand your defensiveness and frankly I agree that users should be allowed to carry the flag indefinitely like any other permission, but AFAIK that has never been the case with this particular permission. I carried AC for a long time despite not being active, I was proud to be part of a specialized and restrictive user group and I would certainly be annoyed if I'd had it revoked, but I will certainly say that having the flag didn't effect my editing at all. As for this being a bad use of time, well, enforcing the rules as determined by the community is simply part of the job. This task falls to the handful of administrators involved in Permissions and we ourselves shirk this duty enough as it is. Swarm ♠ 21:58, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Leevi Gerson Max, a Namibian trade union leader.
Hi,
You might be interested in the article on Leevi Gerson Max. It has been proposed for deletion. Maybe you could do something about it? Or someone else, who is interested in Namibian things in Wikipedia? Panu Hallamaa (talk) 14:12, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi @Panu Hallamaa: Would love to help out here, but the name gives absolutely zero GHits, anywhere. Without sources I cannot improve it, and the original Finnish magazine I do not have, and could not read even if I could access it. Strictly speaking, it could still be a hoax because missionary history in Namibia is typically at least somewhat accessible online. --Pgallert (talk) 17:33, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
- Pardon me for jumping in, but I believe he was a real person. The University of Namibia has, in its digital collections, mentions of something by Levi Gerson Max. My internet is not working well at the moment, but I am fairly certain this is an article on a real person.--TM 17:49, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, not a hoax. In the mean time I also found something, in German. Will see what I can do. Thanks for letting me know, Pgallert (talk) 17:56, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

DYK nomination?: Jessie Rose
Hi, Pgallert. I started a new article on Jessie Rose. Do you have time to nominate it for DYK? The hook might be something like this:
- ...that Jessie Rose started her career playing a variety of soprano roles but later became the principal mezzo-soprano of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company?
The article also has a photo if you think it is worth adding to the hook. -- Ssilvers (talk) 09:06, 4 April 2016 (UTC)
- Sure, will do. --Pgallert (talk) 18:13, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jessie Rose. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Account creator granted
After reviewing your request for the "account creator" permission, I have re-enabled the flag on your account. Keep in mind these things:
- The account creator right removes the limit on the maximum number of new accounts that can be created in a 24-hour period.
- The account creator right is not a status symbol. If it remains unused, it is likely to be removed. Abuse of the account creator right will result in its removal by an administrator.
If you no longer require the right, let me know, or ask any other administrator. Drop a note if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of the account creator right. Happy editing! — Coffee // have a cup // beans // 18:23, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
New edits to change the lead of Jerusalem
Hello Pgallert. Please see my post at User talk:RegentsPark#New edits to change the lead of Jerusalem. You were one of the three closers of WP:Requests for comment/Jerusalem and your opinion is sought on what to do about the expiry of the freeze. The matter is in question due to a new thread at WP:AE#Debresser. Thanks, 17:17, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
- Hi EdJohnston I did not participate in this discussion because the relevant stuff was already said: That it was an RfC, and that a change of the lead would require consensus again, and possibly an RfC. Thanks for letting me know, Pgallert (talk) 14:10, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
Contests
User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:35, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
Hello. I've revamped the contest page into this, based on the new British model. Long term goal, but I've added entries since the beginning of July to give it some initial life. Please add anything you've done since then on this too! All your Namibian contributions can be added! I hope it proves productive long term. The contests are still planned, but will be more tools towards increasing bulk output in overall goal. It's a permanent goal now, and open! I would be grateful if you could keep a record of all your articles you do there, as I really think seeing the combined efforts will encourage others to create more content too! Please spread the word to the others, cheers!♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:26, 3 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately I've run into some editors from Nigeria who've now walked out on the contests becuase they didn't like work done last month and July being added to the list. To avoid conflict with the other contests and coordinators I've made it strictly from beginning of September. One article you did on Aug 31 can count though! I had thought showcasing some of the ones done might encourage more people to produce, but looks like we're going to have to start from scratch! It'll be a great challenge long term though, but regaining the support of the Nigerian editors isn't likely I'm afraid. Feel free to put up Namibian articles or any African articles which badly need cleanup/destubbing/creating on the main challenge page, might increase likelihood of them being done!"♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:10, 7 September 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Dr. Blofeld, I don't mind if it starts July or September but thanks for letting me know. I'm not in for "winning" anyway, just for adding some diversity and one more name. Cheers, Pgallert (talk) 08:04, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
- Cheers Pgallert. Yes, the overall 10,000 drive isn't a contest, it's a way of working together on something as a whole and inspiring editors to create more content I think. Diversity plays a role in that too as you say and increases interest. When people see a lot of articles coming in it inspires them to also want to edit. I'm planning on doing a general Africa Destubathon now, with every country included, so Namibia will also benefit from that. Once we have more support I think we can then run the regional ones next year.♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:30, 8 September 2016 (UTC)
Beautiful, many thanks!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:03, 26 September 2016 (UTC)

Destubathon
Hi. thanks for your contributions towards the challenge. I'm running Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon from October 15 to November 27 which needs contributors. Before it starts contestants will be asked if they want articles done for it to also count towards the 10,000 challenge, and it's also a chance to win some prizes for contributing towards the whole range of countries, so sign up at the destubathon if interested! Even if not interested in prizes, there will be the focus on destubbing anyway and hopefully people can still be a part of it. So even if you just fleshed out Namibia stubs during it that would be welcome, and count towards the challenge at the same time!♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:25, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!
Hello, Pgallert. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
New Page Reviewer granted
Hello Pgallert. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.
- Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
- Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
- Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 08:10, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter
- Breaking the back of the backlog
If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.
- Second set of eyes
Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.
- Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote
With some tweaks to their look, and some additional features, Page Curation and New Pages Feed could easily be the best tools for patrollers and reviewers. We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Please help also by improving or commenting on our Wishlist entry at the Community Wishlist Survey. Many other important user suggestions are listed at at Page Curation.

I'm somewhat perplexed
I've noticed this edit summary and seem to rememeber seeing it previously too, yet you only made a very minor refinement edit and I don't see any page post page move work. Maybe this is your default summary but I was looking for something else. ww2censor (talk) 09:49, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hi ww2censor! Indeed, the page German South West Africa was moved to German South-West Africa, with a dash, and for the third time. I thought that by adjusting the many incoming links we can avoid having a fourth page move. The non-dashed version, as I was told, is even grammatically wrong, as it would refer to the south of West Africa, not to the south-west of Africa. I'll try to make an edit summary that explains that not the edited page was moved, but another one. Thanks for letting me know! Pgallert (talk) 10:11, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- OK, I see where you were coming from though I did not review the history enough to see the exact page move details. No problems, I was just perplexed by what I saw in front of me, which just seemed so minor the summary did not jive with it. Thanks. ww2censor (talk) 10:22, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- @Ww2censor: Hope this type of summary explains better what I did? --Pgallert (talk) 10:26, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
- That looks good though I would just add something shorter like "refine grammar (spelling or format)" Without the details but obviously it's up to you. I now know what you were getting at, so it's not an issue and never was; I was just curious. ww2censor (talk) 10:30, 4 December 2016 (UTC)
