Hey, thanks a lot!
Much appreciated! -- Reconsideration (talk) 00:05, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- You're welcome ! Keep up the good work. Passportguy (talk) 00:06, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Roofio
Hey, Thanks for your comments. I understand how you may view Roofio as un-important, however as a school sport, and one which we hope will - one day - be widely played throughout, perhaps, the world, we feel that Roofio is deservant of a place on Wikipedia. The school website is to be updated this week to include a Roofio section. Thanks for your time, Roofio. —Preceding unsigned comment added by King's Roofio (talk • contribs) 17:33, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately all things that are to have their own page on here but be notable already. if and when your game become widely known, you can re-add the article. See WP:N for more details. Passportguy (talk) 18:02, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Noleade
Hey , Passportguy. I was wondering why my Noleade oage is being deleted. Thanks. GatorSlayerFSU (talk) 19:52, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- Because it is a minor product only sold regionally (as far as I can see almost exclusively at a university) and only for a very limited amount of time. Wikipedia is not a icttory and unforutanely we cannot list ever non-original product here. Passportguy (talk) 19:54, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
hello passportguy: i just received news that the article i am preparing on chip zdarsky is being recommended for deletion by you. I see that you have concerns because the person in question has given himself a death date (which i did not reproduce for wikipedia because that is part of the chip zdarsky sense of humour, and not a fact. i assure you that he is significant and real. the newspaper column is active and receives a lot of traffic. Wiki leedetailed
- The article states that "He also goes by the names Todd Diamond, and Steve Murray." and all the references (apart from the one you mentioned with the death date 2038) list those names. Sorry, but if you want to convince me that this person is real, then you'll have to provide reliable reference to back up all these rather unlikely assertions in the article. Passportguy (talk) 20:26, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
hmmmm. can you please clarify? are you suggesting i should list him as Steve Murray? And not Chip Zdarsky? Todd Diamond is one of his characters. Steve Murray is his birth name but he goes by Chip Zdarsky creatively. I'm not sure what the unlikely assertions are. Wiki leedetailed (talk) 20:34, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Wiki leedetailed
- You should list him with his 'real name. That is if is has any - you still haven't convinced me that this isn't a hoax. And in any case he has to be sufficiently notable, and I don't see any proof of that either. Passportguy (talk) 20:36, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
wow. okay. it's not a hoax but i will start by changing the article title to Steve Murray, and going from there. This is my first article, and I had hoped to help flesh out the area around Toronto comic artists who i thought were worthy of notation. Colleagues of his including Kagan McLeod, and Cameron Stewart who I referenced are listed, and his association with one of Canada's national newspapers is quite well known. Wiki leedetailed (talk) 20:41, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Wiki leedetailed
- I have removed the speedy tag for now, but you really need to imporve the article quickly otherwise it is likely to be deleted for a lack of notability per WP:BIO Passportguy (talk) 20:46, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
thank you very much. i appreciate that, and will work to improve the article. i did wonder about changing the name to his real name though, after all that. if you are known by your character name, say in the example of "Carrot Top" would you really list that person under their real name (for the record i don't know "CarrotTop"'s real name...) is there a rule about this? again, sorry for my first foray's lack of finesse. :) Wiki leedetailed (talk) 20:50, 1 June 2009 (UTC)Wiki leedetailed
- Generally a person should be listed under his/her real name. Only if a person exclusively known by another name (e.g. Mother Teresa) should that name be used. But again, you need to provide reliable sources which back up any name's notability Passportguy (talk) 20:54, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
hello passport guy: just saw i got a new message from you regarding sock puppeting. i have not engaged in this, but i appreciate your warning to that effect. i have one computer and no access to other IP addresses. i did let some friends know i was working on a chip zdarsky article for wikipedia but that it might not be approved so perhaps one of them quibbled in his favour. people are passionate about chip zdarsky in toronto. i have been working hard to fulfill the requirements of notability for the article. thanks for your help. Just a note that it wasn't me who erased the notice, as I am quite willing to listen to (and waiting for) a reasonable argument for it being deleted on something more concrete than subjectivity. The person who removed was Angelique.luff, as is clearly written in the history: 22:06, 1 June 2009 Angelique.luff (talk | contribs) (2,915 bytes) (undo) (Tag: speedy deletion template removed) I am patiently awaiting a reply.--TheJF (talk) 22:18, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

- Anyhow, since I wasn't provided with an answer, I found some concrete marks on which the article could be considered for deletion rather than a subjective "nobody knows it", which was for it to be featured in print media or for it to receive a distinguished award, so I have no further reason to contest the deletion. But in the future, it would be conducive to a friendlier, more welcoming Wikipedia if you didn't go around making baseless accusations, using aggressive language and refusing to answer further questions on why a certain article should be deleted. Wikipedia isn't a battlefield, it's a collective effort. Oh, and those users, I would gather they are other Dailybooth users that were responding to this thread on Twitter: http://twitter.com/#search?q=@dailybooth I hope you'll not accuse me of Twitter sockpuppetry as well. - If I were you I wouldn't stretch my patience too far. You do know that IP addresses can be traced back and one can quite easily find out that all of these usernames were created by the same IP ? Passportguy (talk) 22:42, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- If that can be done, that would be great actually, because everything I said is 100% true.--TheJF (talk) 22:45, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Passportguy, I understand you have to maintain Wikipedia's credibility and cleanliness, I am the writer of the Guards on Duty article, and I understand that you may think it is "non notable," for it is a smaller site. But I believe all sites start somewhere and cannot always contribute or be nationally recognized without gaining some ground first. The site aforementioned offers insight into various medias and personal reviews. Whatever you decide is fine, but if you do decide to delete it, I would like it to be userfied, or whatever the term was, to my talk page and/or emailed to me. Thank you, Bill —Preceding unsigned comment added by Billcheese1 (talk • contribs) 00:44, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- The problem with articles like this one is that Wikipedia is being used by people as a promotional tool. I.e. people post articles about themselves, their relatives, bands, webblogs or companies in order to promote then. However this is not compatible with Wikipedias status as a serious encylopedia. Therefore we usually delete these articles. I hope you understand the reasoning behind this. Passportguy (talk) 00:48, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
I understand, thank you for your time. --Billcheese1 (talk) 00:50, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Swain Tours
Hi Passport Guy, If you are referring to the risk of people editing the page then I understand the concern. I do however feel that having a simple General Info section of the Company does not violate any regulations, simply just personal concerns for the individual posting. I do feel that because it does not violate any of the usual concerns when posting a company, such as marketing and advertising, that it should be allowed to stay, without the speedy deletion banner on the top. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Swain Ian (talk • contribs)
- The main problem is that your company is not notable enough to be included here. See WP:CORP for more details. Passportguy (talk) 14:21, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Deletion request
Sorry, can you delete this page please? —Preceding undated comment added 15:17, 2 June 2009 (UTC).
Hi, this is my first time creating pages, I got a speedy delete request for a theme camp that I am involved in for Burning Man and a page I made about myself was deleted. I have started these pages to get my other camp members going on creating a good page with links to our members and what we have contributed to Burning Man. Can I get some clarification? Thanks!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 17:21, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- The main problem with the article is that is does not provide references as to why this club is particulary notable. Please see WP:CLUB for more info on which types of clubs are considered sufficiently notable. Passportguy (talk) 17:24, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah I know, the page is going to be under construction by our 30 plus members stating why the camp is important at Burning Man and kinda shed light as to what a theme camp is and what they do at the event. Is creating personal pages for the members not allowed? The whole process should take a week or so to get the page where it needs to be. I already sent an email out to all our members so they can edit it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 17:29, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- No unfortunately only pages for important, well known organisations are allowed on here. Passportguy (talk) 17:32, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
No, the page is not for members, it is for everyone, I was refering to the individual page for me as a member of Welcome Camp. We are going on our second year as an Registered Theme Camp at the Burning Man event that has participants from around the world who we interact with at our events. I was hoping to eventually link from the Burning Man page and get other established theme camps to participate in the education of people that might be thinkning of coming to burning man and see what the main focus of the event is, the creation of camps and activities by the actual participants, not the organization. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 17:38, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- The club is till not sufficiently notable. Do take a look at the requirements at WP:CLUB Passportguy (talk) 17:42, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Non-commercial organizations Shortcut: WP:CLUB Organizations are usually notable if they meet both of the following standards:
The scope of their activities is national or international in scale.---Our camp is at an international event and during the week we have thousands of visitors to our camp to participate in various activities.
Information about the organization and its activities can be verified by third-party, independent, reliable sources. (In other words, they must satisfy the primary criterion for all organizations as described above.)---This camp can be verified on Burning Mans website in the description and links to the Theme camps that are registered and participate in the event.
Individual chapters of national and international organizations are usually not notable enough to warrant a separate article unless sufficient notability is established through reliable sources that extend beyond the organization's local area.--Although we are mostly local, we gain members every year that come back and participate and spread the word of our camp through the 60,000 participants.
The organization’s longevity, size of membership, or major achievements, or other factors specific to the organization may be considered. This list is not exhaustive and not conclusive. ---Our Camp is three years old at Burning Man and the size has grown from 10 to 50 members in that time. Our placement at Burning Man helped us interact, entertain and participate with thousands of people from all over the world.
Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 17:49, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Just having a few international participants does not make you an international organisation. Can you provide any references that you have 60,000 registered members or is this just a goal for the future ? From what you write ("10 to 50 members in that time") it seems that your organisation is a lot smaller. Passportguy (talk) 17:52, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
We do not have 50,000 (the participants were just under 50,000, not 60,000, my bad) members, Burning Man has 50,000 participants from all over the world. Thier website and wiki site sites these things. On the wiki page specifically there is a section on theme camps seen here
Villages and theme camps Villages and theme camps are located along the innermost streets of Black Rock City, often offering entertainment or a service to participants.[50].
Theme camps are usually a collective of people representing themselves under a single identity. Villages are usually a collection of smaller theme camps which have banded together in order to share resources and vie for better placement.
Theme camps and villages often form to create an atmosphere in the Black Rock City that their group envisioned. As Burning Man grows every year and attracts an even more diverse crowd theme camps are Black Rock City's own subcultures similar to what can be found in every other city.
As for the international aspect on www.burningman.com they have a census here http://afterburn.burningman.com/07/census/index.html Our placement near the open playa enabled us to meet thousands of people from all over the globe and we influanced thier experience at burning man which they remember and would look to wikipedia and the burning man site for detailed information about our camp. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 18:00, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- In order to be notable enough, your club must be significant. Notability is not contagious and just because you work with or for another organisation does not necessarily mean that your club is notable. Passportguy (talk) 18:02, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
We actually do not work with Burning Man, we are allowed to have a camp that is recognized because of our influance on the 50,000 participants. We have recieved recognition from Burning Man because we abide by thier standards seen here http://www.burningman.com/themecamps/. They have strict standards and we have met them to become an important part of the event. A specific quote is "The understanding that Theme Camps truly are the fabric of Burning Man is now common knowledge. It is a responsibility and takes commitment. Remember that what YOU do helps to create what this year IS!" We prescribe to this and we feel that we are as important to participants experience as any other part of the event is. We have influanced a large percentage of the 50,000 participants just like a 3 person band entertains thousands of fans. Just because there are only three members does not mean they are not notable, or the fact that they are signed with a record label does not make them notable, its the fans that participate in thier concerts and the sales of the cds that make them notable. The participants of Burning Man are not our fans, but they search us out on the map as a pivotal part of thier experience which, I feel makes us notable with that large percentage of the 50,000 people year after year and gains us the recognition of the Burning Man organization. Thanks!RACESV (talk) 18:14, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Again - if you claim significant "influence" you will need to prove that by providing references. Passportguy (talk) 18:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Ok, I think we can do that, we have pictures of the murals that participants have created at our camp, pictures of events we hold, emails from participants that felt they needed to contact us about the experience with us, a copy of the burning man map with our theme camp placement illustrated, the links to our camp from the burning man site, our approved theme camp questionaire. Would those be enough to show the influance on the experience of the participants? As I stated before, this would take about a week to create on wiki. I was just getting us started. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 18:20, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- I understand that you like your club, however - as I have repeatedly stated, as of now you have not provided evidence that the club as per WP:CLUB and WP:N - which - in a nutshell - states that your club must hve received widespread coverage to be included here. Hypothetical "influence" on people doesn't count. Passportguy (talk) 18:23, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
I guess I don't understand how if Burning Man, which has a page, recognizes Welcome Camp as influential enough to repeatedly give us placement as an important part of thier event and the feedback and participation of a large percentage of the 50,000 participants means hypotetical influance. I feel that many of the participants of burning man would appreciate a history of something that was a large part of a large part (Burning Man) of thier lives is. Its not just our camp that I like, I like as I assume alot of other burners would like, a history of many of the large theme camps are that participate at burning man is. I am just trying to give them that and hopefully get other camps that continue to make the event what it is, the oppertunity to do the same. I don't know how else to prove that this theme camps and other specific theme camps is Burning Man and that many camps influance the experience like we do and should be noted on the Burning Man wiki page and have thier own page because of the interest of the thousands of participants in the history and activites that the camps have. I appreciate your time to hear my views. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RACESV (talk • contribs) 18:38, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi Passport guy, you put the Utilicom Ltd page up for speed nomination - then took it down. I have been making some edits and would appreciate any comments you have as I endeavour to meet the Wikipedia rules - and make the page as informative as possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Utilicom (talk • contribs) 14:48, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- I ended up tagging it as inaproporiate tone because it reads like and advertisement. It orginally tagged it for deletion, but I changed my mind as a utility company may have some notability. However the article still needs a substantial overhaul to are more neutral tone. 15:12, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Many thanks - I have taken out (or think I have) vast amounts so I think its now a neutral tone - or certainly closer since you last read it. I have also added in some technical detail on some of the low carbon schemes that are up and running including details on the UK's only geothermal energy scheme - again written from a factual and neutral point of view. Again thanks and more guidence will always be appreciated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Utilicom (talk • contribs) 16:47, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I noticed you marked the article I posted for deletion. I am new to the site and work for Yum! Brands, I wanted to post an article about our World Hunger Relief program and partnership with the World Food Programme. I have the authority to copy content from our FromHungertoHope.com site.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, Thanks for holding the delete on this article. It turns out that people found a few sources for it. It may end up merged but the info was real. I feel that this was a good example of the collaborative nature of WP. I found the badly written stub trolling recent changes and cleaned it up. Posted a few requests for sources and got 2. Deletion of physics article
A page I just created was nominated for deletion. This happened before, and I am still confused as to why this is the case. The article is about a physicist who has presented a revolutionary new mathematical describtion of a theory in a huge area of physics (condensesd matter physics). I really do not understand how this cannot be accepeted by wikipedia. I hate to say it, but I cannot help feel that some of the issues are arising due to matters with ethnicity and background. If this was an American physicist there would be no issue. If it is simply because I have failed to put across the imprortance in my writing then that is my fault, but I do not beleive that is a reason for deletion. It takes a lot of time and effort to write out these mathematical formulae and it's aggravating to see it deleted without consideration. Please explain what I can do to avoid what I now see as an unavoidable conclusion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anterior1 (talk • contribs) 14:35, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
- You will need to provide reliable references that this person exists. I have not been able to find any nor have any of the people that have deleted this article before.
- Just out of curiosity : Did you base this article on information you found on other wiki-based pages on the internet ? If so, you might have fallen for a hoax yourself. Passportguy (talk) 14:40, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
No, I met the person when he was a visiting academic to Edinburgh University. I thought his lecture was very interesting so I read the papers he had published (in the journals listed and papers presented on the day). Believe me, I have tried to find good references of his existence, but it is really difficult. Because he is not employed by a university directly, I cannot find him in the university archives. The only things I have been able to find so far are the journals and the other references listed. Anterior1 (talk) 14:48, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
- If he is not employed by a university, he is likely not notable. And if he hasn't published anything he is even less notable. If he had published anything, there would be references to his published works. Passportguy (talk) 14:51, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure I agree with the first part of that, many people make contributions to science when they are funded - but not directly employed - by a university to do research. He was employed to do it on behalf of them, with the PIP involved as well. As for the otehr parts, I listed some of the papers he has published, but I am currently looking for others. I only created the page again yesterday. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anterior1 (talk • contribs) 14:59, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

- The second one is a mirror of a Wikipedia article, so it's not a valid source. The first one has his name in it, but doesn't have enough information in it to base an article on. Passportguy (talk) 02:36, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Was it you who deleted the page then? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anterior1 (talk • contribs) 21:00, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- The page was deled after a week long deletion discussion in which it was found that we could not come up with reliable enough sources to justify the continued existance of the article. The facts states in teh article were just too unbelievable to be accepted without reliable sources. Unfortunaterly there are some people trying to insert deliberatiely false information on here. While I am not saying that this is the case here, it is the reasons why everything added to Wikipedia must be supported by references, especially when the facts stated may be construed as unlikely or extraordinary. Passportguy (talk) 21:05, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
This is totally ridiculous. I have no faith in wikipedia and it's contributors anymore. As I speak some giant Wikipedia enforcment officers head is popping out of the right hand of the screen to remind that democracy does not exist on this internet site. I asked for a bit more time so I could get the new journal of Physics, which was obviously to much to ask for from these empowered secretaries. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anterior1 (talk • contribs) 21:13, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- When you do get a hold of reliable sourced, you can request at Wikipedia:Deletion review that the article be restored. But don't go there until you actually hold the sources in your own hands, or the request is likely to be denied.
- And try not to attack people personally on here. All of them are just trying to do their best and as I have said there ahvebeen quite a number of deleiberate hoaxes lately, so people are staying a bit on the safe side. Passportguy (talk) 21:18, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
non notable
Hi again! Do you know how to find the category with all non-notable pages? Highest Heights (talk) 16:13, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- You mean the category with all the pages up for speedy deletion ? See Category:Candidates_for_speedy_deletion#Pages_in_category Passportguy (talk) 16:15, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- The Proded pages can be viewed at Category:Proposed_deletion Passportguy (talk) 16:15, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- No, I mean all with the notability template. Highest Heights (talk) 16:17, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- As pages with that tag don't get deault-added to any category, I don't think think there is a complete list of all of these pages. They have to either be tagged for CSD, AfD or PROD to be included in any categories. Passportguy (talk) 16:20, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hm, that was pretty bad. Then they could be pages from 2003-2004 with that template that is completely non-notable that is still left and got no-ones attension? Highest Heights (talk) 16:22, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. It's a major problem and a reason I usually don't use that tag. If you like, you could suggest a default category at Wikipedia:WikiProject Templates Passportguy (talk) 16:23, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, my dog is in my room and growling on highest volume;) I was forced to save quickly. I ment that will not suggest it now, maybe i will do it later. Highest Heights (talk) 16:31, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

- The category is a hidden category, which can be seen at Category:Articles with topics of unclear notability, which is a hidden category. Also, Passportguy: when linking to category pages, please use this format:
[[:Category:<CategortName>]]
(note the colon at the beginning), this will prevent you from actually adding your talk page to the category. Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 16:34, 5 June 2009 (UTC) - Thanks for that. But why is the category hidden ?? 16:35, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

You did intend to withdraw the AfD for Mid-Pacific English, yes? I've closed it for you accordingly, because you posted beneath saying "please delete, in error nom".
If that wasn't your intention, please do revert my closure.—S Marshall Talk/Cont 12:06, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- No, that wasn't my intention at all. And I dind't state that on that AfD (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Mid-Pacific_English). I wanted to retract another one, (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Neoxica (2nd nomination)) (That's were it states that it was an "in error nom" Passportguy (talk) 12:10, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello,
You should have read the talk page, where I wrote . "Should be temporarily deleted so that Bouraikos river can be moved here." Passportguy (talk) 16:44, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- You're right, I didn't notice that, thanks for bringing it to my attention. However, this doesn't qualify for WP:SPEEDY as the article was recently moved to it's current location and a discussion should take place. If you can't resolve the matter on the article's talk page or with the editor who moved it then start a thread at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Sorry.--Doug.(talk • contribs) 16:55, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- Looking at the page listory I don't think this was done with any particular purpose in mind, especially since nothing else was placed on the original place. According to Wikipedia naming convertions this should be either at Bouraikos or Bouraikos (river). I was just trying to cleanup a technical mistake, but if you want to make such a big deal out of it - suit yourself. I certainly can't be bothered. Passportguy (talk) 17:00, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Help
I will ask you for a help. I'm trying to give a little contribution. This is my first article on Wikipedia (hope not the only), and I am intending to respect the rules. I got your notice and I did some changes, and I will continue with editing. Is it enough to remove template? I am sure that somebody will help me to give a better articles. Jovan001 (talk) 17:57, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- I have removed the prod and moved the page to Rade Jovanović. Btw : it is always helpful when ading articles to include links to other language Wikipedias (in this case Serbian), if they already have artciles on the subject, as this makes it easier to establish to the notability of a person. My personal opinion?
Are you serious? do you really beleive that countries like Cyprus, Armenia or Georgia are situated in Middle East? Passport and travel requirments is a political Geography area that need to be addressed in a proper manner giving a true info. Go and check the US State Department web site or the E.U. counsil official site and check... European Continent goes fron Icelant up to Ural mountains, includes ENTIRE Black sea region and it's countries, ENTIRE Caucasus area etc...
Do not beleive me go and verify. You are expressing your entirely wrong personal opinion putting Caucasus countries and Cyprus in the Middle East... I really dought you in this specific subject. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.40.166.192 (talk) 18:37, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, they are - geographically speaking. See Western Asia. Note also that these lists are not sorted by political affiliation, i.e. Greenland & Réunion are in North America and Africa, not Europe. These lists are designed to show travel options, not sort countries by political bloc. Passportguy (talk) 18:43, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
In my opinion...
In my opinion this article should be included within the main Nicosia article as it has very little substance and can be easily and, again in my own opinion, more appropriately added there. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 18:39, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- Then you should have proposed a merger, not a deletion. Mia Milia is signifcant though, as it is a registered, seperate community, not part of the city. And a fairly large one as well. Passportguy (talk) 18:43, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Andorra
The visa is not required. What you posted, the FAQ of Andorra is only a notice for travelers that they cannot reach Andorra without obtaining visas for the EU but the Andorran Govt is not the one who is asking for it. It is only a notice that even though visas are not needed for Andorra, you need the EU visa to reach Andorra as it is surrounded by EU countries. As you can see here [3] there are some passport exemptions that relate to France and Spain but it's not related to the issue of visas. If you would take off from Serbia in a helicopter and land in Andorra you would not requite the Schengen visa. That is the whole point. De facto matter that 99,9% of visitors will require the Schengen visa is irrelevant as we are looking for de jure information. I will add the third reference, the one supplied by you, which should explain this.--Avala (talk) 14:43, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- No you could not. That's my entire point. A re-entry permit iss de jmure required - you will not be let into Andorra without a valid Schengen permit (eitehr in form of a visa ro in form of a passport not requiring a Schengen vusa) You may not legally enter Andorra any other way than via France or Spain. Liechtenstein is a similar case, which currently also does not allow entry any other way than via Switzerland or a Schengen state due to visa concerns. But I can't be bothered to get into a silly edit war so I have tagged the article as factually incorrect instead. Do some research and then come back. Passportguy (talk) 14:47, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Either provide a source that Andorra itself requires this (not French and Spanish border authority) or stop removing reliably sourced content (Serbian MFA and Star Alliance Visa and Health Information). I don't understand editors like you, who will involve themselves in an edit war in order to remove the content that is backed by reliable references. It only makes you look bad when you do it, much worse than if you sneakily removed content without references. Content removal for no reason seems to be a popular sport on Wikipedia. You see in simple words, on one side we have Andorran Govt, Serbian MFA and Star Alliance Visa and Health Information and on the other side we have you. What do you think what is more relevant on Wikipedia? --Avala (talk) 15:35, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- As I said earlier, I canät be bothered to get into an edit war about this with you. However please note that you should do reseach and have some idea what you are talking about before insisting on something. Home country MFA sites are not a reliable source. They are very often outdated and incorrect as they are written by people who do not make the regulations. IATA states that no Andorran visa is required (corect as they do not exist), but does state that Schengen visa is required. The same is stated on the official Andorran page. For some reason this is something that you refuse to accept because you insist on the Serbian MFA site being the end-all and be-all of information. Unfortunately this is a case of a well-meaning but ill-informed editor inserting incorrect and/or misleading information, one of the reasons why Wikipedia is almost universially considered unreliable in the scientifc community. I know you mean well, but you should really try and do some research before taking unreliable sources at face-value. Passportguy (talk) 15:46, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
How don't you understand that Andorran officials do not require Schengen visa but that it is de facto needed because you need to cross the Spanish or French border to get there (Although no visa requirements exist, apply the relevant regulations of France or Spain, whichever must be transited to reach Andorra.)? It's so damn simple.--Avala (talk) 15:51, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- For the last time (this is getting boring) : Andorran law (in form of a directive to border officials) requires a valid Schengen entry permit for entry. Even if you flew directly into Andorra with a helicopter from Tunisia, you would not be permitted into the country as you need a valid Schengen visa to enter. the same is currently true for Liechtenstein, which no longer has any immigration system after Switzerland joined Schengen, but will equally not let you into the country without a valid Schengen re-entry permit. Passportguy (talk) 15:54, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- So let me get this straight - Andorra, according to you, itself legally requires Schengen visa (so not only the Spanish and French border officials but also the Andorran officials seek to find Schengen visa in your passport) however Andorran Govt, Star Alliance and Serbian MFA are lying about it and hiding this information? Because Andorran Govt says "Tourist visas are not required to visit Andorra.", Star Alliance says "Although no visa requirements exist, apply the relevant regulations of France or Spain, whichever must be transited to reach Andorra." and the Serbian MFA lists Andorra under "Countries into which Serbia nationals may enter without a visa". I am a little confused here, why would they hide this information that you claim to have? Why would they not clearly say "Andorra always requires tourists to obtain Schengen visa if they normally need it for visiting the EU regardless of their arrival method" instead of very simple and straightforward "Tourist visas are not required to visit Andorra.". I think that they are not lying and hiding anything, I think that you failed to understand the sentence "Tourist visas are not required to visit Andorra." and that the rest mentioning Spain and France is a tip to tourists that 99,9% of them will need Schengen visa, and multiple entry one if they think to cross the Spanish or French border in both directions (single entry visa would get them trapped in Andorra). So they were very clear, Star Alliance and Serbian MFA references are backing this up while you are still not providing a single source to back up your claim, you only provided your view which is without an external source not important for Wikipedia. You need to provide at least one counter external source for there to even be a discussion on this matter on the article talk page. Until then, it's only your interpretation of the events. You can be angry all you want, you can say how it's getting boring that I am not accepting your personal opinion on the matter, however if you wish for me to take this seriously provide a source where we can see this "directive to border officials" you mentioned because I have no reason to believe that such a directive exists if you don't provide an external source proving so. So far the "directive to border officials" is your words only.--Avala (talk) 20:30, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Believe whatever you want. I've repeatedly provided you with numerous sources stating that a visa is needed. If you choose not to believe those sources - that's your choice. I have better things to do than to explain this to you over and over again. Passportguy (talk) 20:37, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion, [x+1]
PPG, A colleague of mine received notice of a speedy deletion for this article submission, for failure to meet the notability guidelines for organizations. I reviewed the guidelines, and believe they meet the criteria: [x+1] has been the subject of significant coverage - I can provide as many examples as you require. "Significant" sounds somewhat subjective, is this quantified in any way? Also, the submission does not include advertising/promotion language, but simply explains the company, its history and what it does.
Also notable is the fact that they alone among their competitors have been awarded a patent for their ad targeting technology. Speaking of competitors, Phorm, ValueClick and Doubleclick all have Wikipedia articles, and are no more notable than [x+1].
Please let me know what our next steps should be.
Best,

- Thanks ! Passportguy (talk) 18:05, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
I would thank you if you could take the time to add an infobox and find the coordinates like I've done to Latchi. I'm trying to ensure all settlements worldwide have a map and your stubs without infoboxes are making it hard for me. ALl you have to do is copy the infobox each time and just change the relative municipality/district and googke for coordinates e.g google Lachi Cyprus coordinates. It will make your stubs much better and help users understand where they are, Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:18, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'll do so on some of them later on. However I stoped doing so when I discovered that some of the coordiantes on the project list are incorrect, but I guess if I seach them via google I can add them over time. Passportguy (talk) 15:21, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
There is should be no reason why you can't add an infobox. COordinates can be found on a lot of sites and even if you can't find them you can still add an infobox. It just makes life easier for people later as the stubs develop. With a map at least these sub stubs have some value. If I was doing Cypriot villages I would use Maplandia and work throught each area. I'd probably create templates for settlement/topics for each district and red link the settlements and then work through them that way (using the coordinates directly from that site). For instance all the villages in Nicosia DIstrict can be found in an A-Z here. I'd copy the names into a template and red link them and then work through by area. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:30, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
You can add settlements from the link I gave you to the above template. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:41, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Ampelikou is how these should be started. It saves a great deal of work for other editors later to find references and clean them up. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:49, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'll look into that in a couple of hours when I have more time.
- Btw : Generally it is standard to use the modern Greek transcription of places names in Greece & Cyprus here on Wikipedia, i.e. Agios Georgios should be there and not at Ayios Yeoryios. The old translitterations haven't been used in either Cyprus or Greece for over a decade. There are only a handful of towns are still transcribed using the old system because the old spelling are still commonly used, e.g. Larnaca, Paphos, Latchi, Morphou. Passportguy (talk) 15:53, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah some of the transliterations may be off but the coordinates should be completely correct. If I have time later I'll copy the villages into the Nicosia district template. Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:57, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. Just dump them into the template and I'll correct the spellings later on. Passportguy (talk) 15:59, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
It's probably best you start them first to find the coordinates from Mpalandia and then move the title to the correct one. This way we should have infoboxes/coordinates for all the settlements and also have the correct spellings.
Population data would make another decent edition. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:52, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
The goal eventually will be to ge them looking like Evrychou! OK I've added the template up to E. Can you work through them adding the infoboxes and templates to the foot of the articles then. When you finished Nicosia District give me a bell and I'll help make templates for Larnaca district etc. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:28, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- Will do. Btw I am splitting Category:Cities, towns and villages in Cyprus into subcategories as to make them smaller. Otherwise we'll endup having 500+ towns in the mains category. Passportguy (talk) 17:30, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- I double checked the coordinates and it turns out that the ones on the list are indeed false, well inaccurate at least. When adding I noticed that the seconds always were either 0 or 45, which couldn't be correct. if you do a search at http://wikimapia.org/1714247/Agioi-Trimithias (in this case for Ag. Trimithias) you get the exact figure. Passportguy (talk) 18:39, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I would suggest by district. I'll create some new ones now (oh you;ve done it nice work!. We also have Template:Paphos District. Dr. Blofeld White cat 19:13, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've created new ones named Category:Cities, towns and villages in Nicosia District etc. Passportguy (talk) 19:16, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

- Unfortunately I only have very few and those aren't very good. I'll see if any of them are up to wikipedia standards. Police are just too paranoid in Turkmenistan to let you make good photographs. Passportguy (talk) 20:19, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
I created the others so all you have to do is add the settlements and sort the links. Nice progession today with Nicosia. Regards Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:44, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Filling in navigation boxes
All you have to do is copy and paste the villages wiki linked from your list and paste them into where it says list1. ALl you have to do then is add the divider ( · ) between each village as I've done with Nicosia. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:39, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

USAF maps
These charts are updated and republished every few years. The old issues were labelled "USAF", nowdays they are distributed and/or sold as "DoD". I don't know any specific exeption about their copyright status. As a rule all US Government publications are in the public domain. Sv1xv (talk) 09:57, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- I contacted the uploader on el-wiki and he stated as source map the following: "Producer: DGIA, Ministry of Defence, United Kingdom 2001 Map name: Joint Operations Graphic (Air) Series: 1501 Air Sheet: NI 36-3 Edition: 7-GSGS Year of publication: 2001". Unfortunately this is Crown Copyright for 50 years, so the map is not free. Sv1xv (talk) 06:12, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, so unfortunately the map will have to be deleted. Well - maybe the uploader will end up gettimg permission from the publisher to use it as I suggested - in that case he could re-upload the map. Passportguy (talk) 09:46, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- It is too difficult to obtain a free license from MoD, although they would accept fair use. He may use the US DoD map instead, they are very similar in content and appearance. Sv1xv (talk) 16:30, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- I wasn't refering to the British map, it was talking about the Cypriot maps. In Cyprus, if you know the right people a lot is possible that wouldn't be possible elsewhere. Passportguy (talk) 16:33, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Are we sure that this map violates the copyright on the original map? Is there a copy of the original map online anywhere? We know that Neo made a map based on a UK map, right? But do we know that it's a derivative work? Keep in mind that only the creative elements of a map are eligible for copyright. – Quadell (talk) 13:53, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- There a two types of maps in questions here :
- .1) The CGR map nbased on the UK map. This one has already been deleted on here an will be deleted on Commons very soon as it is a violation of Crown copyright. You cannot take a published map and draw something on it and then claim it as your own. That would be the equivalent to taking a published book, writing notes on the sides and then publishing that yourself.
- 2) The two maps showing Cyprus as a whole. Please comapre [] and [4] [5]. !!!
- Regarding #1, I don't believe it should have been deleted, unless it can be shown that copyrightable content was copied. Your analogy in #1 is misleading; a better analogy would be taking someone's population data that they collected, and republishing it in your own chart, without copying their formatting or wording choices. And that's clearly legal; see Feist v. Rural.
These are based on maps publsihed by the Cyprus government. If you look at the map closely, you will notice that they are an exact copy. Neo deleted all the place names are replaced them with alternate spellings as he doesn't like the new way of transcibation that has ben around for a decade or so). While he deleted all place names, he didn't reaplce all of them, so you have a lot of yellow points where there is no no correspoinding name. In addition he made a few minor other adjusments. All of this is clearly an infringement of copyright. You cannot take anyones work without permission, modify it and publish it as your own. Passportguy (talk) 14:05, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- They are absolutely not an exact copy. The line thicknesses are different, the resolutions are different, the fonts are different, the colors are different. The factual information is the same, and you absolutely can take someone else's factual data that they collected, modify it, and publish it as your own. Again, Feist v. Rural is applicable. (Also, I replied to your other comments on my talk page. We should probably choose one place to discuss this.) – Quadell (talk) 14:29, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
re: speedy deletion, x+1
PPG, Here is a link to what had been the x+1 article submission: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/X+1 Michael O'Brien (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:20, 16 June 2009 (UTC).
- The article has been moved to User:Chzz/X+1 where it can be impoved and then reposted. Howevever reading the article I have to say that the company does not seem to pass WP:CORP. Generally speaking a company must have made a major impact and have been the subject of numerous press articles to be considered notable enough. Smaller, relatively unknown companies will ver often fails this requirement. Passportguy (talk) 20:27, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Judging by your user name, I think you can help sift these edits. Some appear to be vandalism. Some appear to be constructive. I blocked, then unblocked. Now I'm jus tonfused. Can you jelp me? Cheers, Dlohcierekim (talk) 02:06, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes indeed, most of it seems to be a Serbian nationality removing Kosovo from the lists for POV reasons. I'll go through the edits and restore text where appropriate. Passportguy (talk) 10:57, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the reverts Passportguy. Hopefully, eventually, he'll get bored with being banned and we'll stop having to extend the sock drawer. - Peripitus (Talk) 22:45, 18 June 2009 (UTC) I noticed your work to Outline of Cyprus. Nicely done. Please consider joining WP:WPOOK. The Transhumanist 23:55, 18 June 2009 (UTC) Deletion of SWARL page at June 6I know you did not actually delete SWARL article but you have suggested it. I'm trying to understand the reasons for it. ARRL article was not deleted and it's content wasnt suggested to merge into Amateur Radio but it happened to us. I feel like I have to explain the situation around SWARL: There was a SWARL Yahoo group and the informational website that comes up at first if you make search for SWARL in google. Both of those have been created by Steve Carter who passed it on to the crew with Marshall Cubitt (I'm member of this crew - Yury Bondarenko, you can see the full list of the crew at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SWARL/ and the URL of our site there too, which is http://swarl.org) SWARL Yahoo group is one of the largest groups on this topic, and the site swarl.org contains supporting information (read: club information) According to Steve Carter, he does not have access to the old site of SWARL and he tried to convince hoster of it to remove content of it, but with no success. So, SWARL has desided to start a new site http://swarl.org , it is very new site and there are not many links to it yet, but we are working on links corrections. The article about SWARL on Wikipedia was containing the most important info about our club and we would really like to restore it. If we need to correct our article in any way, please inform me. I could see there is an article about ARRL and our club is no lesser importance to SWLs in the world as ARRL to American HAMs. There are only three organizations left in the world that issue international SWL call signs and keep track of them. We have got 794 SWL call signs issued and this number increases every day. There is a big interest in SWLing among people who has receiver. Well I hope I didnt take too much of your time by this explanation and really hope to get our article on Wikipedia back. Brack11 (talk) 20:35, 19 June 2009 (UTC) TalkbackHello, Passportguy. I have no way of knowing whether semicolon is a sockpuppet, but the edits do not appear to be outright vandalism. Enigmamsg 00:58, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
UK PassportThank you for pointing this out, however, it goes on to say that a Value Added Licence is needed. Something that point 15 of this explains can be obtained for a cost of £50. I'm can't imagine we have this license so we should not be displaying this image where it doesn't meet NFCC. I haven't undone your edit, and will wait for a response and/or self-revert. Thanks Rizalninoynapoleon (talk) 04:17, 24 June 2009 (UTC) Swiss visa policyIn response to your comment - "After 90 days citizens of BZ/BNJP/SG may apply for a residency permit without having to leave the country, but the stay of a regular tourist is limited to 90 days" - you should go to [6] and compare the difference between the visa entry requirements for Annex II citizens such as US and Canadian citizens with the comments for Bruneian, Japanese, New Zealand and Singaporean citizens. Let me know what you think please! Bonus bon (talk) 19:12, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
PassportGuy, your hard work makes me happy.I have been working on an animation that uses the visa/visa upon arrival maps you created, they are great. Do you have the same information in spreadsheet form? it would be a huge help and would make comparing information easy.Argogi (talk) 14:50, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
