Usage of nominated, shortlisted, and longlisted

Hi once again @Paper9oll!

I don't know if you watched the 2021 Mnet Asian Music Awards but I do have question regarding on how to write the result of the nomination. Aespa was nominated in all the grand awards (daesang) in the ceremony. However, from their voting website before, there were a lot of nominees for each daesang category. When it aired live, only 5 nominees were mentioned, so where they shortlisted on all of the awards instead of nominated? For reference you can open this link while the album of the year was not shown it was rather shown at Apple Music app. Sorry for the inconvenience once again and thank you for helping me out!ReVeluv02 (talk) 13:58, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

Ya I did watched it, Daesang nominees was announced on the ceremony live, it was not announced on the official website beforehand. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:59, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
Ignore my previous comment, apparently they announced it beforehand, I got confused with the Voting page. I would just put it as nominated unless you can find sources that indicated that the remaining 5 nominees were mentioned, then maybe can put as shortlisted. I don't think longlisted applies here since they didn't actual reduce the result before the live ceremony. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 14:11, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
Thank you so much for the response! Finding articles were they mention Aespa as shortlisted would be harder rather than finding articles telling that they are nominated. Korean news outlets and articles don't really use the term shortlisted. Thank u for the response once again! Fyi, I'm not the one who put the longlisted on Aespa's awards and nominations table just to let you know haha! :) Have a good Saturday night! ReVeluv02 (talk) 14:15, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
@ReVeluv02 Yup, Korean news media rarely list nominees in their reporting. For the longlisted in Aespa table, that's actually correct as the 1st voting for Worldwide Fans' Choice Top 10 is 50 nominees, the second/final voting is 20 nominees. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 15:00, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

Re:Momoland

I didn't change those citations on Momoland - a bot came in after both of us and changed them - if that is the changes you are referring to? https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Momoland&type=revision&diff=1060294454&oldid=1060231871

Thank you for fixing my submission - I apologise - I realize I pasted my submission in the wrong section of the page on the second update. And I appreciate you constructing a more comprehensive citation.RenesisX (talk) 21:17, 15 December 2021 (UTC)

@RenesisX Hi, as seen in this diff, you initially added content without unreliable WP:FANDOM source hence I reverted it. However, as seen in this diff, when you re-added the content with Instagram source, you actually removed what the bot did earlier which is removing the date parmeters from several references, I'm not sure why and how you manage to remove it, maybe it is due to WP:EDITCONFLICT, which was why I reverted it again, which of course, I restored your re-added content in follow up revision. Do note that, Instagram source is not considered as reliable source, we preferred using secondary sources as much as possible. For South Korean related articles, there is a list of considered reliable and unreliable source, which you can refer to it here. Thanks you and happy editing! Paper9oll (🔔📝) 03:09, 16 December 2021 (UTC)
OK, I guess what happened is that on my 2nd attempt I actually edited the previous version (before the bot made its changes) and therefore the bot's changes ended up getting reverted. Perhaps the history page was still open in my browser and didn't show the changes the bot had made. I'm not sure how that happened. I don't think it was an Edit Conflict because the times are too far apart. Thank you for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RenesisX (talkcontribs) 04:12, 18 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi Paper9oll, thank you very much for the report, and please keep me updated. The situation wasn't entirely clear, as there seems to be no inline citation for either revision, so I've removed the date from the article for now (Special:Diff/1060919668 / WP:BURDEN). ~ ToBeFree (talk) 14:31, 18 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi ToBeFree, understood, I agreed with your decision to remove it since there were no citation provided. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 14:33, 18 December 2021 (UTC)

How

Since there still no response from the main page, could you please help me. I've warned a user using redwarn, after that, the user page of the user I warned was included on my watchlist, how to disable that? Thanks in advance. ctrlwiki08:46, 19 December 2021 (UTC)

@Ctrlwiki Under your Preferences, click Watchlist tab, scroll down until Watched pages, untick "Add pages and files I edit to my watchlist", "Add pages I create and files I upload to my watchlist", and "Add pages where I have performed a rollback to my watchlist". Unfortunately, this means that you have to manually tick the "Watch this page" whenever you want to watch certain pages or files. This is actually a known issues with RedWarn, which I have previously (in 2019 or 2020, can't remember the exact year) asked them to fix it but no new update they rollout has done that. Create Hanteo Music Awards Article

Hello! Can you create an article for Hanteo Music Awards? It is a new Korean Award Show. Thank you so much! Wwiinn 127 (talk) 06:23, 21 December 2021 (UTC)

@Wwiinn 127 Is that an actual award ceremony? From my quick research, it doesn't seem like a traditional award ceremony to me, the results according to Hanteo announcement page will have different release date for each category hence to me this seem like a survey/poll. In addition, Hanteo (who is the main organizer) nor Whosfan (the co-organizer) has English Wikipedia article so this award doesn't seem notable to me. Even if ignoring the fact that both organizers doesn't have English Wikipedia article, the actual award ceremony article would likely be disputed for notability and wouldn't have much to expand either since it is unlikely there would even be performers for the event which I'm not sure how it would be held either since the winners for each category would be announced on every Monday starting from 20 December 2021 till 10 January 2022. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 08:23, 21 December 2021 (UTC)
@Wwiinn 127 So apparently, this is how the awards are given out, which the video (to me) seems very awkward and amateurish, no where does this seems like a proper award ceremony to me, hence I wouldn't be able to response to your request for creating the article. Editing of my submitted Wikipedia page draft

Hello! I see that you have just made some editorial changes to my draft Wikipedia page, which is awaiting approval. Please let me know what those changes are, and if you have any onformation about where my approval now stands. Thanks.

David Steinberg https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:David_Steinberg_(journalist_and_photographer)Eronat2 (talk) 01:44, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

Hi Eronat2, unfortunately I'm not a draft reviewer/approver, I removed duplicate parameters from the draft as they are detected by the software and tracked via Category:Pages using duplicate arguments in template calls hence I'm just clearing the backlog. Please wait for the actual draft reviewer/approver to drop by in 1 weeks to 6 months as the current draft reviewing backlog is quite high, it would take them quite a while. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 02:49, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification as to your edits. I understand that actual approval may take some time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eronat2 (talkcontribs) 09:57, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

Archiving user talk page

How to create a user talk archive page. Do I need to use the manual creation of a article? Because when I am creating an article on Wikipedia, I use this Help:Your first article. Is it the same method for creating a talk page archive? Thanks. Ctrlwiki13:23, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

@Ctrlwiki To archive user's talk page, copy the code at User:Lowercase sigmabot III/Archive HowTo#Example 2: Incremental archives by expanding the dropdown, paste onto the talk page (if there are other existing templates, paste below all of them. Just make sure it is above the first section). There is also another archiving bot called ClueBot III if you prefer it but I never used it before as Lowercase sigmabot III is more popular/commonly used. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:37, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
Can I do it manually, cause this is my first archive talk page, and a lot of discussions on my talk page was already deleted and archive on the talk page history. Ctrlwiki13:56, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
@Ctrlwiki Yes, you can by creating User talk:Ctrlwiki/Archive 1 after that, you have to go to your talk page history and go through the various revisions, edit source, copy the discussion, and paste onto the Archive 1, once done, just publish it like creating/editing article. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 14:30, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
Ok thanks. Ctrlwiki14:41, 24 December 2021 (UTC)

Off-topic

Would you please tell me, how you got that online status pinned to your user page? I would love to have the same on mine. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 12:19, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

@User:Itcouldbepossible The status is based on my schedule, it is a template created for my own usage. If you're interested, you can refer to User:Paper9oll/StatusTemplate (this is for the styling which refers to the next link), User:Paper9oll/Status (this is the logic where it checks if User:Paper9oll/CustomStatus is empty, if it isn't then it will check for the current day, if it is within Monday to Friday then first schedule, if Saturday or Sunday then second schedule. The CustomStatus is a static status to display either online/offline/away, simply overwriting the schedule, but will need to be manually changed and also blanked.) If you understand the if-else and switch statements, it is easy to copy/paste onto your userspace and modify from there else it is hard to explain also. This archived explanation to another user, could be helpful. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:58, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, for all this stuff. Sorry, but I thought that it will be easy, but now I find, that it is not at all easy. So, I will do this later. @User:Itcouldbepossible No problem. Maybe just create a new discussion and ask me about it should you have any queries in the months or years ahead. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 14:48, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

I noticed with a source of JaeJae's article you've placed both the first and last name of the author together in the last name box. When there are individual boxes for each of them. You can see it on the visual editor. Btspurplegalaxy 🗩 🖉 04:01, 28 December 2021 (UTC)

Jennie section separation

Users keeps separating the Videography and Filmography section on Jennie's page, we discuss this issue on WP:ACTOR talkpage before and you said that there is no need to separate the filmography section and videography section. Hello, Paper9oll,

Just a head's up, with CSD G1, it is not so much "nonsense", meaning "not making sense" but "incoherent text or gibberish". So, "dkje888&mumblemumble" would qualify as gibberish but "My cat is inside the moon" would not. The second phrase while not making logical sense is understandable and not incoherent. But it does look like the page is a test page and so I'll delete it. Thank you! Liz Read! Talk! 03:29, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Question

how many user talk page discussions you can archive on your talk archive page? Ctrlwiki03:07, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

@Ctrlwiki The number varies due to size limit which is 2048 kibibytes. Because I use archiving bot, I limit each archive page to 50 threads, once it reaches 50 threads, then another new archive page will be created automatically by the bot. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 03:11, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
Can I also do that? 50 discussions a page? Ctrlwiki03:33, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
Yes, you can. Copy the code from the hidden dropdown on User:Lowercase sigmabot III/Archive HowTo#Example 2: Incremental archives and paste them onto the top of your talk page, change the value for maxarchivesize to 50T, then publish it and wait for the bot to run. Got the Beat & Beyond Live shows

Hello. I saw your message about my edit for Got the Beat. I've added BoA as leader, because I saw from other website (https://kpop.fandom.com/wiki/GOT_the_beat) edited for Boa as Leader. Can you re-add my edit, please? And I've viewed history edits for Beyond Live shows. When I added table with shows, dates, replay vod and etc., I saw that you removed it, because of unsourced and mostly original research. Some of the shows hadn't been added (setlists) like a-nation online 2020, 2020 K-Pop x K-Art Concert Super KPA & etc. And that's why I made this table, so the readers would know which shows don't have VODs. Can you add the same table at Beyond Live shows, please? Or can you add the same table at Beyond Live under Shows and reception (For a more comprehensive list,...)Nikolai Boyanov (talk) 11:28, 10 January 2022 (UTC)

@Nikolai Boyanov Hi, firstly pertaining to Got the Beat, you have to provide me with secondary reliable news source instead otherwise I won't revert it neither have I personally come across secondary reliable news source that mentioned BoA is the leader even though she is the oldest. Please also note that Fandom is considered as unreliable source as per WP:FANDOM. Secondly, for Beyond Live shows, the table is not needed because Wikipedia is a not database and also not guidebook, in addition, the table you added is also unsourced and mostly original research such as Replay VOD, Multi-cam VOD, and Re-streaming columns, which are 100% original research and violated WP:NOTGUIDEBOOK. Shin Ji-min

Hello. I saw your message about my edit for Shin Ji-min. Jimin has returned to the K-POP industry and I got the information from (https://www.soompi.com/article/1507481wpp/watch-former-aoa-member-jimin-posts-on-instagram-for-1st-time-since-leaving-group-shares-new-song). Could you please re-add my edit? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Utokki (talkcontribs) 09:14, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

@Utokki Firstly, Soompi is considered as unreliable source as per WP:KO/RS#UR. Secondly, it wasn't confirmed she is returning back to the entertainment industry, posting on Instagram isn't a big deal and neither is her new song a major release as it isn't found anywhere other than her personal SoundCloud nor does it indicated she is returning back to the entertainment industry. Message about me almost being blocked from editing

Why blocked from editing? I am just trying to find the best source I can find. If you dont think these cites are sourced then find one yourself and change it instead of making me not allowed to edit :/ makes me wanna remove all the cites i made tbh — Preceding unsigned comment added by Utokki (talkcontribs) 13:15, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

@Utokki Firstly, you are almost getting blocked and not blocked. Secondly, quote "I am just trying to find the best source I can find.", no you're not even trying, despite this being communicated to you previously, if you even read WP:RS which I doubt you even did, you would have come across Self-published sources section and also Self-published or questionable sources as sources on themselves section which was clearly communicated that Twitter isn't reliable or self-proclaimed "best source". Thirdly, quote "If you dont think these cites are sourced then find one yourself and change it instead of making me not allowed to edit", if you even bothered reading WP:RS and following WP:GUIDELINES then you won't risk yourself getting blocked. Lastly, "makes me wanna remove all the cites I made", well go ahead then because that would certainly get you blocked as you don't own Wikipedia articles whatever you added are there to stay as long as it's reliable sourced, and written in neutral point of view. Hi!

What is the best way to revert an edit, Twinkle or RedWarn? Can I add RedWarn's rollback link at the page history like Twinkle? –Ctrlwiki (talk) 09:12, 15 January 2022 (UTC)

@Ctrlwiki Hi, I use both. Twinkle is slower than RedWarn because it uses Undo function while RedWarn uses Rollback function (only if you have rollback rights, and make sure under RedWarn preferences > Behavior tab > Rollback Method > Rollback (faster, requires permissions) is selected, after which make sure to save it by clicking the save button at top right). Nope, you can't add RedWarn to page history because they didn't add that function, the only way is to compare the revision and then rollback using RedWarn. Re: My edits to Ke1per and Yuju

Why do my edits keep getting reverted, even though i add sources? Maybe my sources are not super-reliable, but I still try my best. My edits on Kep1er's page had sources, and if you checked on their official profile the things I wrote, were correct: Mashiro, Hikaru and Xiaoting use their first name as their stage names, and Yujin and Mashiro are the leaders (that was announced on Kep1er's first YouTube live). I don't have anything to say about the edits on IVE's page, since I didn't read the warning. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shenshouting (talkcontribs) 12:57, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

@Shenshouting Based on this diff, firstly, you removed without no valid reason in doing so, this template are needed to denote the article is currently semi-protected hence the reason in doing so may be vandalism and/or disruptive editing. Secondly, you removed again without valid reason in doing so, this template are needed to denote the article is using MDY (month, day, year) date formatting, hence again the reason in doing so may be vandalism and/or disruptive editing. Thirdly, unexplaining changes to selective members names, please use Talk:Kep1er to gain consensus to the changes you want to be made. Fourthly, adding After leaving JYP Mashiro trained briefly with Pledis Entertainment, without providing reliable source. Fifthly, adding , and on January 14th they won a trophy on Music Bank. supported by Soompi which is considered as unreliable source as per WP:KO/RS#UR. Lastly, the various changes to the Members section, changing selective members names without explaining why, as mentioned in earlier sentence, please use Talk:Kep1er to gain consensus to the changes you want to be made, adding footnotes such as without providing reliable source to support it, and also adding out of place Categories to footnote. For member's position, please provide reliable secondary news source to support it. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:15, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
I'm extremely sorry about what I did, i'll try to find sources that are reliable. I have to say one thing, why did you revert the whole edit, because as a source for Kep1er's leadership positions I added their first YouTube live, in which they announced who would take on the leadership position, so the source was technically reliable, wasn't it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shenshouting (talkcontribs) 13:22, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
@Shenshouting I have updated the article with reliable source in the latest revision, Choi Yu-jin should be denote as leader while Mashiro Sakamoto as co-leader. YouTube are normally not preferred for use as references other than for supporting music videos, secondary news source is more preferred. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:50, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

Re: My edits to Jinx's Lover

Hi! My edits on Jinx's Lovers page were reverted, why? the sources is officialy from kbs — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anonymxx00 (talkcontribs) 03:37, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

@Anonymxx00 I have restore the reference manually as you updated using Visual Editor which adds bunch of unnecessary spacing and also mess up the references parameters position, this is a known problem of Visual Editor. In addition, don't make dummy edit such as with this diff. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 03:51, 18 January 2022 (UTC)

The One and Only

I disagree with your revert. Considering this is the English Wikipedia, it's useful to readers to indicate where the show is being released internationally (including the US). It's not like I added a complete list of every region the show is available in. Now *that* would not belong in Wikipedia indeed. nyuszika7h (talk) 19:37, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

@Nyuszika7H Please read WP:NOT and MOS:TVINTL. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 01:39, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Congratulations, you managed to completely ignore what I just said. Let me quote you this sentence from MOS:TVINTL, which you linked: "As Wikipedia is not a television guide, do not include an indiscriminate list of every network that a series appeared on in countries outside the country of production. Editors are encouraged instead to add noteworthy foreign broadcasts, if reliably sourced. These can include: broadcasts in primarily English-speaking nations such as the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand" (emphasis mine). As far as I can see, the only valid issue you might have here is with the lack of better sources. That I can understand, but then say that instead of treating me like I'm stupid and implying I'm adding an "indiscriminate list" of international broadcasts which is not at all the case here. I have been editing Wikipedia for years so I'd appreciate it if we could have a normal conversation instead of assuming bad faith. Personally, I believe Rakuten Viki is a quite notable platform for international broadcasts of K-dramas, but if sourcing is what you have an issue with then OK, I'll come back later if I find a good third party source covering it. nyuszika7h (talk) 10:49, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
@Nyuszika7H Thanks for the sarcasm response, I'm not interested in any of that. Neither have I quote "instead of treating me like I'm stupid" and quote "assuming bad faith", nowhere in my response above at 21 January 2022 at 01:39 UTC stated that hence I'm not sure how and/or why you came to that conclusion. What you're added is indeed violating WP:NOTGUIDE as you're merely just transforming/repurposing external links into references, not much different from adding it as external links, from how I interpret it as is that you added where the TV series are streamed on and simply providing the link to the streaming page in the form of references, nowhere is that noteworthy nor is it reliably sourced which MOS:TVINTL already stated. Neither is broadcasting on Rakuten Viki in selected regions and/or countries noteworthy enough to state it as available for streaming in English-speaking nations as every other South Korean TV series are available on the platform even if it was distributed exclusively by Netflix/Disney+/etc in selected and/or same regions and/or countries in the same timeframe.
Tldr, like you have mentioned above, if you're able to find 3 significant reliable secondary sources with editorial oversight that isn't questionable and/or deprecated and/or unreliable source as per WP:KO/RS#UR to proof it to me that it is noteworthy to be mentioned on English Wikipedia because it has and/or there were significant coverage pertaining to the TV series available for streaming on Rakuten Viki then I've no objection to such inclusion. The One and Only (continued)

Continued from User talk:Paper9oll/Archive 6#The_One_and_Only

Thanks for clarifying, I thought that was the case but wanted to make sure because your initial explanation confused me. I'm aware that generally having reliable sources is preferred and I somewhat expected my edit to be reverted but I decided to be WP:BOLD because it seemed to err on side of useful information considering it's an international release and also the only place where you can watch the show legally outside of South Korea right now. Sadly it's hard to find a lot of reliable third party sources covering it because the show itself isn't hugely popular outside of Korea and kdrama/kpop fans, but I won't argue over this any longer because you do have a valid reason for the revert. Also thanks for that list, I was about to ask whether Soompi is considered reliable but I had a feeling it may not be. nyuszika7h (talk) 19:56, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Rolling back

You rolled back the edit by 61.92.108.218 where they added WayV as a subunit of SM Entertainment artists as a Disruptive edit. How was it a disruptive edit? Jay (talk) 07:57, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

@Jay Hi, apologies for the late reply, as the page watcher this has happened more than 10 times since 2021 or maybe earlier (I don't have time to dig out the actual figure), in fact, as seen in the diff, there is already a note/hidden comment telling whoever intended to add WayV to simply look further down but of course that clearly didn't work, maybe the note/hidden comment should be reword to make it similar to Aespa's members section even though that wouldn't do much but still ... Why I reverted it as disrputive editing because I deemed it as ignoring community input in the form of the note/hidden comment ... I'm not the only one reverting it as disruptive editing btw (compare 14 August 2021 and 15 August 2021 revision) ... not faulting anyone just saying. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:02, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
I missed it too! Although the note was right below where the entry was added. Still, I don't see why this is a edit for which rollback has to be applied. Jay (talk) 14:06, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
@Jay Ok noted ... even though this may sounds like an excuse, I used RedWarn which was configured to use Rollback rather than Undo, I use Twinkle instead next time if it happens again. Thanks you, happy editing and happy weekend! Paper9oll (🔔📝) 14:11, 29 January 2022 (UTC)

Not broken

@Paper9oll what does that mean Slashlefty (talk) 04:00, 31 January 2022 (UTC)

@Slashlefty Quote "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", furthermore your rationale quote "replaced non-free, promotional, as series is already released." is irrelevant, no where does MOS:TVIMAGE nor Template:Infobox television/doc stated that non-free images MUST be replaced when the series has been released. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 04:50, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
why not use the title card? that seems to be the standard for many tv articles? Slashlefty (talk) 05:55, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
@Slashlefty: For a show's main article, an intertitle shot of the show (i.e., a screenshot capture of the show's title) or a promotional poster used to represent the show itself should be used. Thats Mos says. –Ctrlwiki (talk) 06:01, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
@Ctrlwiki i added the title card so why did you remove it Slashlefty (talk) 06:02, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
@Slashlefty As I have mentioned above, it's not broken hence don't fix it, and as per MOS:TVIMAGE quote "For a show's main article ... a promotional poster used to represent the show itself should be used", a promotional poster is allowed for usage hence I'm not sure why the insisting to fix something not broken and/or not going against the guidelines and/or policies. Report.

Please refrain from reporting me in the future. This immature behaviour and inability to deal with situations yourself without assistance from an administrator is absolutely hilarious and you will be dealt with accordingly by a moderator if you decide to take these actions again in the future. Enprovence (talk) 03:09, 4 February 2022 (UTC)

@Enprovence Firstly, please read WP:CIVIL, WP:NPA, and WP:INTIMIDATE. And btw, you started it first by copying my userpage and my user templates without permission, and pretending to be me by reverting NJD-DE revision with edit summary "you are not Paper9oll", hence reporting you to administrator is the right behavior to avoid any suspicion on my part that I operated an sockpuppet account when I in fact did not. Finally, I have done nothing wrong that are going against the guidelines and/or policies hence I fear nothing, free feel to report to whatever "moderator" because there are no "moderator" in English Wikipedia, there are only Administrator. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 03:21, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
@Paper9oll Firstly, if your little friend actually bothered having a brain he would've noticed that I was going to remove "Paper9oll" from the template. If I wanted to copy you, I would've changed my username from Enprovence to Paper9olllll. Secondly, you do not own any template you create. By posting it online, you agree that anybody can reproduce and change it to their liking. If you don't want your templates to be copied in the future, consider getting off of Wikipedia and heading to another website where your templates will not be changed. Also, you are kindly requested to use proper english as I do not have the ability to report "whatever moderator". Enprovence (talk) 03:25, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
@Enprovence Firstly, quote "your little friend actually bothered having a brain", this is considered as personal attacks against User:Njd-de, as noted and linked above, I highly recommended you to read WP:CIVIL and WP:NPA. Secondly, quote "you do not own any template you create", while technically true but all of the templates that you had copied previously are under the user namespace and not under the template namespace hence quote "you agree that anybody can reproduce and change it to their liking" is not simply possible because I have purposely coded it for my userpage usage only there are no parameters available for you nor other Wikipedian (including Administrator) to reuse it onto their own userspace. While technically true that quote "you agree that anybody can reproduce and change it to their liking" but those templates that you had copied previously just isn't meant for reuse on other userspace because the creator (me) coded it for personal usage on my own userpage only, and also don't ask and/or question me why I didn't code it for other Wikipedian (including Administrator) usage for their userpage, I published under User:Paper9oll/ instead of Template: for reason. In case, you're confused, my userspace templates DOES NOT function like templates that are on the Template: namespace. and I have no intention to do so, if you want Infobox, please see Template:Infobox Wikipedia user, and those "articles/templates created" table, are simply basic wikitable that are transcluded onto my main userspace hence I'm not sure how you would even be able to reuse it without having the same content displayed. Same for TopIcon, those are also not coded with parameters hence not sure how you would even be able to reuse it without having the same content displayed. Same for status, it is coded according to my own personal schedule/timetable hence not sure how you would even be able to reuse it without having the same content displayed. How to know if the image added by a user is copyrighted or not? —Ctrlwiki (talk) 12:56, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

@Ctrlwiki If the image is for example like this, then it's obviously copyrighted as these are official photoshoot by the agency/label and are rarely (at 99.5% rate) licensed under Creative Commons or other free to distribution licensing, sometimes the uploader would say it's their own work which is no doubt nonsense.
If the image is not obvious, then you have to check the source.
 1. If it's YouTube, the video description will sometimes have "Creative Commons Attribution license (reuse allowed)" at the end of the description, but if it's not there, then you have to copy the video title, paste into the search bar on YouTube, search it, once loaded, click Filters > under Features column > click Creative Commons, if the same video appeared in the filtered search results, this means that the video is licensed under Creative Commons licensing (CC 3.0 Attribution unported to be exact) and can be uploaded onto Wikimedia Commons. For example, this is licensed under Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution Unported as verified by the license mentioned at the end of the description, and also can be double verify by copying the video title and applying the steps mentioned earlier.
 2. If it's not YouTube, same thing also check the source, scroll through it to see if there are mentioned that it can be distributed freely, if it doesn't say then this means that the materials cannot be uploaded onto Wikimedia Commons. For example, this source was used for File:111521 Momo TWICE - SCIENTIST (PD노트 SBS, 2021).jpg by falsely stating it as licensed under CC 4.0 when no where in the entire webpage stated so and to add further "insult to injury" at the end of the content, this line "해당 콘텐츠는 상업적 목적으로 사용이 불가합니다" (which translated to "This content cannot be used for commercial purposes") already stated so.
 3. If it's Flickr, this is a bit tricky as this requires some experience and knowledge, take the first link for example, if it's uploaded there and the uploader indicated on Flickr as licensed under "Creative Commons Attribution" or "Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike" or "Public Domain Dedication CC0" or "Public Domain" mark, then it's falsely licensed and cannot be uploaded onto Wikimedia Commons. If it happens to be uploaded onto Wikimedia Commons, this is called Commons:License laundering and can be speedily deleted as copyright violation.
Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:51, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
@Ctrlwiki If there are no source indicated and the image is obviously, normally what I would do is to the reverse image search via Google using extension such as this for Firefox, there also similar ones for Chrome in the Chrome Web Store. Same for unsourced image indicated as "own work" or licensed under Creative Commons (any type and version), I would just reverse image search it and paste the entire search result as proof. Sources

How to archive sources like what you did on so many articles? TIA —Ctrlwiki (talk) 11:59, 12 February 2022 (UTC)

@Ctrlwiki Use this, login using your Wikipedia account, and then type in only 1 article title (must be exact and not a redirect) you want to archive in the first textbox, tick "Add archives to all non-dead references (Optional)" checkbox, ignore the second textbox, and Click Analyze to run it. If you want to archive more article, repeat the process. You can also run in bulk (these edits are made under the Bots username [InternetArchiveBot] not your own username like the first option) by typing a list of article into the textbox, and click Submit.
For me personally, I only use the first option because the second option doesn't always work as the bot will sometimes return as nothing archived when there are still plenty to archive in that article(s). Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:47, 12 February 2022 (UTC)

I was wondering...

Hi, so about the recent edit on Viviz, why do you change the reference's URL? Is there something wrong with the one I pick? Byy2 (talk) 12:26, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

@Byy2 Loading speed and ease of archiving. Naver ones are AMP (in layman terms, they load significantly faster) as supposed to actual source which are slower due to factors like trackers, advertisments, analytics, etc. Btw, this isn't related to internet speed. And for archiving, Naver sources are easier and faster for archiving, and also less prone to errors such as archiving incorrect webpage or content not displaying, etc. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:45, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

Relevant awards show

Hi, I wanted to ask is any award show considered notable if there's a published reliable source even though it's not popular? I was trying to improve List of awards and nominations received by NCT but I'm not sure which awards are considered notable. Thank you so much for your help! Poirot09 (talk) 15:33, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

@Poirot09 Hi, it depends. My style would be to search through Google and also Naver to see if that are sufficient coverage from reliable news sources. For NCT's list, in own personal opinion, I would remove both the Joox (Joox have tons of region-based awards but almost all of them doesn't have sufficient coverage from reliable news source, the Thailand article is also poorly written and also supported by what seem to be WP:SPS. And also, you don't find them on List of awards and nominations received by BTS which's normally my goto article as it's FL-class, it was previously there if i'm not wrong but was removed because of notability), Sohu Fashion Festival (quick search returns bunch of blog-based sources, maybe notable in China; even then the entry was supported by primary source), and lastly Tokopedia WIB Indonesia K-Pop Awards (no significant coverage from reliable news source). Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:02, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
@Paper9oll So Prêmio Anual K4US and KMF 2017 are fine? I was also unsure about those. Poirot09 (talk) 16:11, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
@Poirot09 Oh ya, missed out on Prêmio Anual K4US, doesn't seem to have significant coverage from reliable news sources. KMF 2017 and Newsis isn't notable to me, and Brand Customer Loyalty Awards should be merged into the main table. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 16:45, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

Use mdy dates

Using that template in an article. Do I need to format into mdy manually all the references I add in the article if the reference isn't mdy (example from 20 February 2022 to February 20, 2022), or not needed cause the article have already using mdy template. What's your opinion? —Ctrlwiki (talk) 11:20, 19 February 2022 (UTC)

@Ctrlwiki Firstly, before you add the template, you need to scroll through the code first to see if there is an existing date format that's MOS compliance. If no, then proceed to add either Use mdy dates (for South Korea-related articles, mdy is preferred as South Korea uses that formatting) or Use dmy dates (mostly seen in United Kingdom-related articles or countries that has previously been part of British colony). After which, you need to manually convert all of dates to either mdy format or dmy format depends on which you added, I use this userscript by Ohconfucius to speed up the job, but aware that long articles will cause the tabs to freeze. If articles is quite long, use Chrome/Edge instead. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:04, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
Installation guide for the userscript is here if you needed it. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:07, 19 February 2022 (UTC)

Which means, even I add mdy templates, I still need to change all dates to mdy? —Ctrlwiki (talk) 12:08, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
@Ctrlwiki Yes Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:11, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
What will happen if I just put "use mdy dates" template in an article, but did not manually format all ref dates that into mdy? And are there any bots who can do it for us. —Ctrlwiki (talk) 12:17, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
@Ctrlwiki The references list would be formatted when viewed in preview or reading mode, but the code will still remains the same. As the template itself is not a cleanup template but notice-type template (to inform editors what date format is this article they're editing currently is using) hence it will remains forever there in the article once it's added as indicated in the template documentation. If you add the template but don't format the code, then either bot or editors will do it instead but the bot (I forgot the name) doesn't run frequently hence it would take few days or weeks before it came by and format the code. Apink Update

@Paper9oll Greetings, I am trying to update the data of Apink, the kpop group. But they revert the edition. I am using real and public knowledge references. Apink has 3 studio albums in Korea and Japan. HORN is NOT a fourth album, it is their second special album. Said in its official pages. He also has 9 EPs or known in Korea as Mini albums. Which do not let it be put in their main information. But we know that in Korea they are important since they usually release more EPs. I follow Apink since its inception and I just wish their wikipedia page was updated with the correct information. Since many of the things are up to 2017. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Josythereads (talkcontribs) 21:56, 19 February 2022 (UTC)

@Josythereads Hi. Firstly, on English Wikipedia, we don't allowed usage of K-pop-related terminology such as "special album" or "mini albums", it can however be mentioned as "Marketed as "special album" by ??? Entertainment" or "Marketed as "mini album" by ??? Entertainment". Secondly, for Apink#Discography, only studio albums can listed. For other groups, that didn't release even 1 studio albums, extended plays can be listed instead, in the event they released 1 studio album, the content would be replaced by that 1 studio album instead. Lastly, please remember to sign your reply by typing ~ four times without spacing like this ~~~~ at the end of your reply. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 04:33, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

@Ctrlwiki Yes, the non-constructive rollback buttons doesn't has any accompanied warnings. Normally, I would use Twinkle to issue Uw-vandalism1 as the edit summary would be "General note: Unconstructive editing on [article name]" for Twinkle whereas using RedWarn to issue the same warning template, the edit summary would be "Vandalism" instead. @Shenshouting SVG format is preferred over PNG format for word/logo-type of images due to SVG being highly scalable. Also, please fix your signature, there is something broken with your signature that is causing the software to not automatically display the date and time (which is needed), just compare your signature with other user (including mine) above and below, you would see the difference (yours is missing date and time). @Poirot09 Imo, I would leave the nomination there and tag it with Citation needed since there isn't any reliable source available. If you're referring to the NCT list, I can see 1 popularity award not sourced, sometimes popularity award is not part of the main award, like they're issued by the award ceremony's sponsor or something, hence sometimes you wouldn't it listed in the award ceremony official website even though it's part of the ceremony. For Soribada, I'm not too sure if the popularity award for 2018 edition is issued by sponsor or not. You can maybe ask them at Wikiproject Korea talkpage for Korean-related articles. I don't mind answering your queries (as long as it's within my knowledge), hence no worries on that. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:09, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
@Poirot09 Okay, thanks! Another thing, is there a reason why only certain charts are nominated in Discography articles? I was checking BTS's since it's well made, and there's no mention of Hungary's chart, for example. So based on what criteria is decided which charts should be featured? Poirot09 (talk) 12:53, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
@Poirot09 The chart in discography articles are maximum 10 charts only, and is determined by chart notability, and how many singles charted in that chart. For South Korean discographies, you would mostly find the Korean chart (Gaon and Billboard K-pop Hot 100), Japanese chart (Billboard Japan Hot 100 and/or Oricon), New Zealand chart (NZ Hot), United Kingdom (OCC), United States (World Digital Song Sales), and Worldwide (Billboard Global 200). Billboard ones are also preferred over other less-known charts but this doesn't means less-known charts are not allowed to be listed in the table (as long as the table doesn't exceed 10 charts will do). The table is really a case-by-case basis since not all singer/groups has same archivements. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:19, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

Reversion

Why did you revert my edit? —Ctrlwiki (talk) 11:54, 24 February 2022 (UTC)

@Ctrlwiki Double module are allowed Paper9oll (🔔📝) 11:57, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
There are two infobox musical artist template, the first one is the main and the second one is the module, so I removed the second one. What is the purpose of the second repeated template and what's the difference between the first and the second one, though other articles doesn't have two same infobox. —Ctrlwiki (talk) 11:58, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
@Ctrlwiki Compare the reverted revision and current revision visually, you will see the differences. The reason why other BLP articles pertaining the individual singers/artists doesn't has double module of the same Infobox is because it's using the non-wrapper Infobox (Infobox person) of which Infobox musical artist's coding is based off, of which Infobox person is more superior due to having more parameters (to name 2: signature and education), of which are missing in Infobox muscial artist. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 12:20, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
I see no difference between the two revision, except the "musical career" headings. So can you please clarify, why this article has template:infobox musical artist with a module of the same template. Thanks. —Ctrlwiki (talk) 12:33, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
@Ctrlwiki Yes, I'm referring to the "musical career" heading separator. The reason why the module of the same template is to separate non-musical-related parameter from basic information (birth name if applicable, birth date, birth place, occupation, etc; parameters you would find in Infobox person), of which doing so, adds the "musical career" heading separator. Ok, I understand now. So if that is the case, why don't we change the main infobox -> template:infobox musical artist to template:infobox person. So it is more appropriate, and less confusing for having two same templates. —Ctrlwiki (talk) 12:56, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
@Ctrlwiki Yes, if you wish to standardalize the format among the Twice members, you can change from Infobox musical artist to Infobox person, since only Dahyun is the only one using Infobox person among the members. The reason being, she has Education information of which the others members doesn't, of which embeding Infobox person will make it super awkward and weird as the signature is also there hence will need to call 2 Infobox person as module twice, once before embed Infobox musical artist for the Education, and after for the signature else the signature which is always image will be slapped in the middle of the Infobox, which isn't ideal. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 13:12, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
done changing, seems no problem with the signature, the picture still in the end and not in the middle. I changed the color header also per documentation. —Ctrlwiki (talk) 14:03, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
@Ctrlwiki Yes, no problem with the signature when the main is Infobox person. What I meant is that if the main is Infobox musical artist, then if subject has education or alma_mater then module1 has to be Infobox person with only education or alma_mater since added signature in module1 will rendered it directly after education since module1 must be closed before calling module2, then module2 would be Infobox musical artist (so separate data, and to add musical career heading), followed by module3 which would again be Infobox person but with signature only hence would mimic the layout of Infobox person. Anyway, ya the color header for those Korean name/Chinese/Japanese name's modules should be transparent. Paper9oll (🔔📝) 14:26, 24 February 2022 (UTC)
