The scope of CSD criterion G8 has been tightened such that the only redirects that it now applies to are those which target non-existent pages.
The scope of CSD criterion G14 has been expanded slightly to include orphan "Foo (disambiguation)" redirects that target pages that are not disambiguation pages or pages that perform a disambiguation-like function (such as set index articles or lists).
The Wikimedia Foundation's Community health initiative plans to design and build a new user reporting system to make it easier for people experiencing harassment and other forms of abuse to provide accurate information to the appropriate channel for action to be taken. Community feedback is invited.
Miscellaneous
In February 2019, the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) changed its office actions policy to include temporary and project-specific bans. The WMF exercised this new ability for the first time on the English Wikipedia on 10 June 2019 to temporarily ban and desysop Fram. This action has resulted in significant community discussion, a request for arbitration (permalink), and, either directly or indirectly, the resignations of numerous administrators and functionaries. The WMF Board of Trustees is aware of the situation, and discussions continue on a statement and a way forward. The Arbitration Committee has sent an open letter to the WMF Board.

Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 14,757 last month to 14,804 on 29 June 2019). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 150 is ahead of WP:GM who have 87. WP:GM has the lead in FAs at 68 out of a total number of 4,253 articles.
Currently we have forty nine Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
WikiProject Yorkshire Collaboration of the Month Project
The July 2019 articles selected below are an editor choice as there were no further suggestions from the project talk page.
The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.

Winter Jones
Hello! The IP whose edit you reverted on Winter Jones is from the actual person the article is about. They emailed us and attached official name change documentations (refer to Ticket#2019070610004222). I was wondering if you could hide their IP to avoid possible privacy issues, and if there are any further steps required to confirm this other than just logging it in the ES? Thanks.--▸ épinetalk♬16:24, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
Hi, you just did a revdel on this article, and the editor has once again recreated the article (little more than an advertisement), using copyrighted material. Could you please take another look at it? If you agree that it needs revdel, could you restore the redirect again afterwards? And then, based on the edit history, protecting the redirect from being turned into an article again without admin access? Thanks. Onel5969TT me14:05, 12 July 2019 (UTC)
I've dealt with the copyvio and restored the redirect but I don't think it merits full-protection at the moment. Nthep (talk) 14:29, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

Images of England
The Images of England web site is to be decommissioned this month by Historic England. The text of the site entries has been available on the corresponding National Heritage List entry since that web site was created. The images are being transferred ahead of the decommissioning. As a result of this a BOT has changed all {{IoE}} templates to {{NHLE}} templates and translated the reference number according to a list provided by Historic England.
It would be good if members could check these, when they come across them, as I have spotted one with an incorrect translation. Some articles already had {{NHLE}} templates in them so the references may need to be combined. Other changes that may need to be performed are removal of template or text referring to the site as needing registration, changing the text "Images of England" or "IoE" to something more appropriate or may be even removing it if it is part of the description..

Hi Nthenp. I think the IP which was edit warring over this file's non-free use a few years back might be back as 2.24.81.243. The first two edits were unrelated to the file, but then the IP goes right to the file's page adds re-adds the WP:FURs removed per the FFD and then re-adds the file to two articles where non-free use was deemed non-compliant. Your FFD close was endorsed at DRV and nothing about the logo use has changed; so, I removed the rationales and files per the FFD. Would you mind watching things for a bit in case the IP comes back and tries to do the same thing again? At the same, time if you think the situation has changed and your close is no longer applicable, then feel free to revert my reverts. If that's the case though, it would be helpful for you to adjust you close accordingly to avoid any confusion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:48, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
Following a research project on masking IP addresses, the Foundation is starting a new project to improve the privacy of IP editors. The result of this project may significantly change administrative and counter-vandalism workflows. The project is in the very early stages of discussions and there is no concrete plan yet. Admins and the broader community are encouraged to leave feedback on the talk page.
Since the introduction of temporary user rights, it is becoming more usual to accord the New Page Reviewer right on a probationary period of 3 to 6 months in the first instance. This avoids rights removal for inactivity at a later stage and enables a review of their work before according the right on a permanent basis.
Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open
Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are now open. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting doesn't commence until 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the coord team. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 02:38, 1 September 2019 (UTC)

Wiki Loves Monuments
September is the time for the annual Wiki Loves Monuments competition to get quality photographs of listed buildings and scheduled monuments in the UK. It would be good if any members in the Yorkshire area got out and about taking images of any monuments or listed buildings that they find. There are still several entries on the various list articles without images and it would be best to prioritise these if you are in the right place. Details for this years competition can be found here. There are cash prises of up to £250 for the best images that are submitted.
If you are not in Yorkshire then you are still able to join in as the competition covers the whole of the UK, separate competitions are available for other areas of the world if you are not UK based.

Continued additions of copyrighted material by a user you warned
Hi, you informed a user about some of their additions being removed due to copyright reasons here on their talk page. The user does not seem to have noticed or heeded your advice, indeed most of their additions seem to be copypasted plot information and cast lists, often copying the formatting, too, i.e separating male and female talent in the article just as the site they copied it from does. Since you seemed to take notice, I figured I'd go to you first. Eik Corell (talk) 21:55, 17 August 2019 (UTC)
I had a look at couldn't see (without a lot of research) anything actionable. If you can identify specific copyvios those can be dealt with. The separating out of cast lists by gender is a stylistic issue which needs to be discussed out. Nthep (talk) 15:42, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
Editors using the mobile website on Wikipedia can opt-in to new advanced features via your settings page. This will give access to more interface links, special pages, and tools.
The advanced version of the edit review pages (recent changes, watchlist, and related changes) now includes two new filters. These filters are for "All contents" and "All discussions". They will filter the view to just those namespaces.
A global request for comment is in progress regarding whether a user group should be created that could modify edit filters across all public Wikimedia wikis.
I think you may have been the admin who revdelled some text added to this article in July. I have removed recently added text today, that may also need to be revdelled, if you would please have a look. After a bit of fumbling research, I think the photos are okay, (because they are of 3D art), but the text is lifted from the website page, per earwig. My removals where made in two "chunks", which should be easy to see from the history.
I have gone to the trouble of posting a detailed explanation on the editor's talk page (and a shorter one on the article TP), so I hope, that as a favor to me, you will give them another "chance", in the hopes that my strong words and detailed personal message has gotten the point across! Thanks very much, Tribe of TigerLet's Purrfect!23:21, 5 September 2019 (UTC)
@Tribe of Tiger: I don't think there is any action needed here as long as the lesson is learned about copying and pasting. The issues I have are more about tone and sourcing. The only source used is the priory's own website and the tone is close to promotional "finest in the country" etc, it needs far more references from independent sources. The images are all ok as there are of 3D items and although still in copyright are covered by s62 of the UK copyright act. Nthep (talk) 11:16, 7 September 2019 (UTC)
Hi Nthep. I have been in email contact with a photographer for a photo of Sam Fender. Initially I uploaded a version the photographer was not happy with here File:Sam Fender 2019 melaniesmith.jpg which I have now nominated for deletion. She agreed to a lower resolution which I have uploaded here File:Sam Fender2019 melaniesmith lowres.jpg. The photographer should send the OTRS permission template to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org soon or once the previous image is deleted. Is there maybe a chance you could help me with this as I'm not great with these things. Could I perhaps forward you the correspondence via email? I remember you helping me previously with images of Iggy Azalea. Thanks again. CoolMarc19:49, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
@Coolmarc: Hi again, I'd help except I'm travelling a lot at the moment and don't have OTRS access while I'm on the road. It's going to be about 3 weeks before I'm settled again. Nthep (talk) 19:52, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
