Autopatrolled

[edit]

Hi Nsteffel, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Beeblebrox (talk) 21:12, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

reversion

I reverted your notability tag on the River City Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps since 6 of the 7 reference cites are already from independent secondary sources... GWFrog (talk) 01:46, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I would question whether most of those references qualify as significant coverage but don't really want to pick a fight over it. Nsteffel (talk) 17:53, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Louis F. Menage

[edit]

Hello Nsteffel:
The copy edit you requested by the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Louis F. Menage has been completed. I would offer a suggestion that you remove the text of the following two items and place them as footnotes at the bottom of the article. It is interesting information but perhaps too lengthy to be included in the body of the article as you have done.

(Many present day property descriptions in these areas still reference Menage's name in the plat or subdivision names.)
(and occasionally waived it entirely, such as when he sold property for the development of The Minikahda Club)

If he fled to Guatemala because he could not be extradited to face trial that would be worth adding.

I strongly suggest that you archive newspaper, or magazine citations from the Internet as time allows. This ensures your article's references are available "forever" - no "dead" urls. The site I use is https://archive.org/web/. Simply copy the url in your citation and paste it in the "Save Page" box on the archive.org site and click save. It creates a copy of the original page and provides you with a new url to add to your original citation. You the add the new url to the end of the original citation like this: |archiveurl= http etc|archivedate=30 January 2016}} Not all websites allow archiving - CBS TV news and the NY Times are two I've come across, so there's not much you can do about that unless there is an alternate citation you could use.

Otherwise, an excellent article about an interesting man.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Kind regards, Twofingered Typist (talk) 15:09, 30 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Review of Mountain Lake Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota

[edit]

Hello Nsteffel - I have made improvements to the article on Mountain Lake Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota so that it is hopefully no longer "start class" and was wondering as an editor and member of the Minnesota project if you would be willing to review it for me (or suggest someone who would). Thank you. Jsniessen (talk) 15:10, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely! You've made some great improvements to the history section in particular and everything looks very well referenced. I'll bump it up a level to a C-class article. Nice work! Nsteffel (talk) 15:37, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Looking forward, what would you need to see done there to move it to the next level? Jsniessen (talk) 20:15, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure, to be quite honest. It's nicely written and well-referenced. There's always the potential to write more on a topic, but I don't know how much more could be said about a small rural township. You might want to head over to Wikipedia:Peer review to get another opinion on it. It might well actually meet the B-class criteria; I have personally hesitated to assign that to many articles since I'm pretty new to assessment work. Nsteffel (talk) 22:51, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the advice, and compliment, my friend. I too wonder how much more township information is out there (short of opening up the secretary's notes from the township board meetings - possible but difficult) since history seems usually to be formally organized at the city/county/state level - or personal interviews, which would probably be categorized as 'original research'. Otherwise, I think I have reached the limit of my resources. Jsniessen (talk) 19:10, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You are invited to participate in the third annual Wiki Loves Pride campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT culture and history. How can you help?

  1. Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work here
  2. Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
  3. Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome! If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page.

Doodle Poll and Invitation to WMUG Zoom Meeting

[edit]

Hello Nsteffel,

Below is a Doodle poll to schedule our first WMUG Zoom meeting.

https://doodle.com/poll/4xnxiqqmq4pvzw7n

Susan J will be on vacation for the rest of July, so I have listed possible dates and times for our first meeting in August.

Evening hours were requested to accommodate folx' working schedules, so I kept it to that. Please respond to the Doodle poll as soon as you are able so that we can get this on our calendars.

If there is anything that you want to add to the meeting agenda, please let me know. My focus for the meeting will be to compile questions about leadership, funding structure, and planning for WMUG.

Also, if you are no longer involved with the Wikipedia community or taking a break from it and do not want to be included in these emails--or if there is someone that is still missing from this list who you think should be included--please let me know.

Sincerely,

RachelWex (Rachel Wexelbaum)
