November 2013 Talkback
I replied to you here three days ago. — | Gareth Griffith-Jones |The WelshBuzzard| — 14:45, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
re: GAN
Not frowned, but you may want to try WP:PR first. Also ask the relevant WikiProjects for a B-class review; if they are active you may get some useful info. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 00:01, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- You are right that the PR can sometimes take very long; that's just a lottery we have to play. GANs wait can also be counted in months, so you may want to start a GAN nom few days after PR, you should get the PR review usually before the GAN one. Regarding lists of artwork, I am not familiar with the criteria, w/regards to art my work has only involved creating entries on individual pieces, not on series of the,. WP:LIST may be of some help. Tables are a common solution. Try to look at GA listing of related articles. Perhaps your goal is not a Good article but a Wikipedia:Featured Lists? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:05, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
Re: GAN
What's the article? Some times a peer review always helps, I can look it over. But let me be honest, I am not the one you should awe. ;) Mitch32(New digs, new life, same old stubborn.) 05:00, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- Aha, I did not see #3 on your take page notice, a peer review would be awesome! The article is Better Out Than In. Please note there are several other pieces missing from the Works section, I just chose the notable ones. I could easily add the other pieces, but I feel the section may get too long and difficult to navigate. I also do not feel this article would be better presented as a list, but any input is greatly welcome... thank you! — MusikAnimal talk 05:22, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- Let me get home on my hell commute for Election Day, and I'll look it over late tonight. Also, I'm amazed anyone reads that damn thing. I still get notices. Mitch32(New digs, new life, same old stubborn.) 21:40, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- I got tired and totally forgot. My apologies. I had an event on November 2nd to attend. Mitch32(New digs, new life, same old stubborn.) 23:57, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- No need to apologize, you're the one doing me a favour! Thx :) — MusikAnimal talk 00:10, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- On first glance, move the images in Works around. They are cluttered. Also, Citations are extremely overlink central. Once you link a publisher once, you do not and should not link them again. Mitch32(New digs, new life, same old stubborn.) 15:21, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks! I've removed duplicate links per WP:OVERLINK and "staggered" the images right-left per MOS:IMAGELOCATION. Again I'm more concerned how the perceived "completeness" would be, as I'm missing about 10 or so less-notable pieces. Surely this goes without saying, but feel free to make any changes you see fit. Thanks again for your help :) — MusikAnimal talk 16:55, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Are you joking me?
You changed my correction of (N****s Wit Attitudes) to (Niggas Wit Attitudes) back to the (N****s) correction because you did not think it was constructive? Niggas is the actual name of the group, there is absolutely no need for censorship on that. I will report you if anything like this happens from you again.

Stop saying my edits are "non-constructive"
Why are you saying my edits are "non-constructive" - I am not "experimenting" - I am merely editing a page so that it conveys better information — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.12.157.18 (talk) 18:01, 25 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hey there, this edit was restored as I accidentally reverted it (I use semi-automated tools). Perhaps this edit was made in good faith, but surely you can see why I would think otherwise. You should not rename the subject without consensus, especially if the result could be interpreted as defamatory. Thanks for your understanding. — MusikAnimal talk 18:08, 25 November 2013 (UTC)

page blanking is tantamount to G7. I would not revert a pageblank by creator of CSD nom. Dlohcierekim 18:33, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
- I am unable to verify this since the article has been deleted, but if it's the one I think you're talking about, it had been around for months with several different contributors. Author blanking would then not meet WP:CSD#G7 as he/she is no longer the sole substantial contributor, and the AfD process should instead be taken. — MusikAnimal talk 19:13, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
- There were four edits- creation, tagging, blanking, reversion. Dlohcierekim 19:16, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
- Just figured that out, not the article I thought you were talking about. So yes, indeed, my mistake. He/she was essentially changing CSD criteria from A7 to G7 (so db-author should have been added), which certainly doesn't merit a warning. Thanks for making me aware of this. — MusikAnimal talk 19:22, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

Boers and Bernstein edit
Hi. If you look at the show website, the Quote of the Year 2013 award was given out yesterday, and it was as I described it. Here is the link:
http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/12/04/chris-rongey-wins-2013-quote-of-the-year/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.169.220.10 (talk) 19:40, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing this out, and my apologies for any confusion. You should accompany quotes with a reference, especially if they may appear to be vandalism or likely to be challenged. Another user has since readded the quote in what I deem to be a more appropriate wording, although still lacking a reference, so I've gone ahead and added it. Cheers — MusikAnimal talk 22:18, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

Vandal is back
Hi there. You did a heroic job reverting vandalism to Humane Society of the United States a while back. The vandals are back - this time a SPA named AlexDawson62. Gutting all criticism of HSUS; adding puffery. He is clearly an employees of the Humane Society, and maybe a sock for the editor who was already kicked off the page for a conflict of interest. Might want to keep an eye on it. I've tried some reversions, but it needs more.NaymanNoland (talk) 23:06, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
- Even shadier: the same banned editor - JohnDopp - is now commenting on the Wayne Pacelle article. Pacelle is the head of the HSUS, so if you have a conflict of interest with regard to the HSUS, you have a conflict of interest with regard to Pacelle. The comments appear on the same day as radical edits on the HSUS page by by AlexDawson2. I don't know how to initiate a sock investigation, but it seems pretty likely that these two editors are the same person: AlexDawson2 and JohnDopp.NaymanNoland (talk) 02:48, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- Sounds like you have a pretty good handle on this; If you are confident that are the same editor you should report it at WP:SPI. Be prepared to provide diffs that show clear evidence of sockpuppetry. My revert way back when was when I was doing patrol work, I actually have no particular interest in the subject. Thanks for helping keep the wiki clean. — MusikAnimal talk 02:57, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Edit to Regimental Nicknames of the Canadian Forces
Hello. I recently made an edit to 'Regimental Nicknames of the Canadian Forces', adding the nickname 'Minuscule Penis' to the Military Police section. Speaking as a serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces, I do know what we do and do not call refer to each other as, in jest or otherwise. Minuscule Penis, when referring to an MP, refers to the fact that their career isn't as glamorous as expected, and thus to compensate for their lackluster career choice, have to make up for it by issuing exaggerated charges for minor offenses in order to make themselves feel better, IE, as if they had a bigger penis. Please reconsider the edit. Thank you and have a pleasant day. 174.113.36.146 (talk) 00:09, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- Perhaps you should try citing a verifiable, reliable source for this priceless contribution. See WP:NOR. Josh3580talk/hist 00:16, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with User:Josh3580, you must not add contentious material without citing a source. I question the nature of this article to begin with, as it may not meet our notability guideline, and may only act as a platform for regimes to call each other names. I do not know of any similar articles for other military organizations. — MusikAnimal talk 02:43, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Ben Hueso
I don't know how to cite a change, but if you look at the Article - his correct birthdate is referenced in the first line with a cached link from his govbuddy.com listing. https://www.govbuddy.com/directory/CA/ben-hueso/2866/, is the uncache version. Also, if you look, his is in the 1969 Births. The Senator called me to ask why google said he was 53 when he was only 44 years old. I told him that I would try and fix it for him. I don't know how to cite the correct reference on the side page, but there are more things on the page that point to his correct DOB than not, but the listing in the right hand side is incorrect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.90.52.116 (talk) 06:18, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
- Hello and thanks for getting in touch with me about this. I've found the changing of birth dates and other person data to be a common (and peculiar) form of vandalism. I've only recently tried to make an effort to address this subtle disruption across the wiki, so I am learning. Reverting your change was indeed a mistake, for that I do apologize. I have restored it and updated the reference. The previous reference appeared to be a broken link, which is why I felt your change should not have been applied without it being updated.
- It is my understanding that data shown in Google's Knowledge Graph on people is usually from Wikipedia, so likely the infobox or person data. I will also update Wikidata for you. Note it may take several days for Google to crawl the sources and reflect the changes. Thanks for helping improve Wikipedia :) — MusikAnimal talk 05:39, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

- Hey! The last sentence of this article states the airport is no longer in service, and that it is used primarily for drag racing. I found a source to support this and added it. There is a "closed" field in the infobox, I simply put "yes" for now but preferably the date that it closed should be added. At any rate, even though the airport is closed, I think the article should be kept for historical reasons. If you feel otherwise, first try starting a discussion on the talk page or on the WikiProject Airports talk page. Someone there will know more about what to do. GAR Archive
Hi, if I reviewed a GA, when should I archive it (and if so, how)? Thanks, Matty.007 13:26, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
- It looks like people don't always officially close a review, but I suppose you should. The final decision on whether to pass/fail an article is solely up to the original reviewer, so my thoughts are that, albeit unlikely, you wouldn't want the nominator backlashing at you for whatever reason... closure would officially end the discussion. I place {{archive top}} at the top of GA Review section and {{archive bottom}} at the bottom. Full instructions on reviewing are at WP:GAN/I, make sure you do all that's mentioned at finishing the review because I don't think the bots do all of that stuff automatically, kind of annoying. Good luck on your GA ventures, cheers! — MusikAnimal talk 16:00, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

The Really Nice View for Really Nice Work Award | ||
Hello MusikAnimal, I saw that you have been doing some really nice work on Wikipedia, mainly reviewing lots of GAs, and helping me with GAs; so I thought that you deserved to be the seventh recipient of the 'Really Nice View' award. Congratulations! Matty.007 13:28, 6 January 2014 (UTC) |

I don´t understand why you deleted the band GODHATE from the death metal bands list? 2013-01-07 — Preceding unsigned comment added by SVENSK VARG (talk • contribs) 19:48, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- We want to restrict the artists on lists to those who are considered notable, hence generally only bands that have their on article, which GODHATE apparently does not. The reason why is often bands will add their name to the list as some form of promotion, then another band does, and it just grows into this monstrosity of unsourced non-notable acts. This is not to say GODHATE doesn't deserve a place on Wikipedia, but after a quick web search I'm not convinced they meet our notability guideline on music. If you think they do, feel free to create an article, or just add them just to the list – but make sure to link them so that it is a red link, and add a reference that can prove notability. Let me know if you need any help. Cheers! — MusikAnimal talk 20:23, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for your fast reply. I will try to write an article about Godhate first, because I really think this band deserves some attention. They have been around since 1991. Previously known as Throneaeon (1991-2003) until they changed their name into Godhate in 2003. They released CD´s both as Throneaeon and Godhate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SVENSK VARG (talk • contribs) 20:49, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Test Edits
Hi MusikAnimal,
It wasn't a test edit on Murry1975's page. I went back and signed it properly after a message was left on my Talk page that I wasn't signing off my posts correctly.
Regards,
Simon — Preceding unsigned comment added by Simonjohnpalmer (talk • contribs) 21:04, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes I undid that revert myself, and I also instructed Huggle to revert the notice on your page, but I guess it didn't? Sorry about that! I've since altered my Huggle configuration to exclude talk pages, which is was the reason behind the mistake, since users adding their signatures within articles is a common "test edit". Thanks — MusikAnimal talk 21:14, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Did not remove anything simply added. I think you made a mistake and would be pleased to see it returned as my addition is factually correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.231.26.21 (talk) 22:55, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hey there! Looks like with this edit you attempted to add new content with a source, but the ref tag wasn't closed. In your next edit you correctly closed the ref tag of your addition, but you also blanked an entire section of the article. Perhaps you didn't mean to do that? I rollbacked your changes in order to restore the content, but your addition was also removed as a consequence. That being said, feel free to re-add your contribution, just be sure to not remove anything else by mistake! Also see WP:REFBEGIN on how to correctly add references, although for WikiSource we prefer to do it in a special way, so see Wikipedia:Wikisource#Using Wikisource as reference. Write back here if you need any help Cheers — MusikAnimal talk 23:11, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Woah, yes, the blank was a mistake. Sorry about that and many thanks for fixing my mess! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.231.26.21 (talk) 10:50, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Date of Isaac Pitman's death
Hi there. I noticed your revert to Isaac Pitman and thought you might be interested in Talk:Isaac Pitman#Date of death: January 12 or 22?. I notice you didn't revert a second time so maybe you worked it out for yourself... but I thought I should give you a link anyway, just in case. Yaris678 (talk) 19:16, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hey! I have no particular opinion on this matter. While doing RCP work, I reverted this edit as a "test edit", and notified the user of such, as it included extraneous ref tags that produced visible errors on the page. Perhaps I should have just removed them, but any rate the user correctly changed the dates without error in the edit that followed. — MusikAnimal talk 19:23, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

Error in rollback
Hello, I'm Strike Eagle. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to King cobra because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. The message was automated but any problem dude??? That edit was not expected from you! ƬheStrikeΣagle sorties 16:38, 17 January 2014 (UTC)- Oh I get it now, there was a clash of rollback tool and it shows that you have made the edit. Machine fault! not yours or mine! Cheers, ƬheStrikeΣagle sorties 16:40, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes a very rare and strange bug with Huggle... it reverted edits by two users, which is not even possible with a standard rollback. I'm baffled! At first I thought my account had been compromised! I wonder what software User:Gilliam was using to make his revert? Anyways thanks for catching it :) — MusikAnimal talk 16:48, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I thought the account was compromised too! But a close analysis of the article's history showed that it was an error of the system and not you! :) ƬheStrikeΣagle sorties 16:55, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- I wanted to bring up some findings here. According to the Huggle Manual (Yes, I read the manual. It's interesting in addition to giving me something to read while taking a dump), if you click the "Revert" button when viewing the latest revision (Latest revision on the right of the screen), then it will perform a rollback - reverts all consecutive edits by that user to the last version not made by that user. If you click the button when viewing an older revision (the revision on the right is not the latest one), Huggle will revert to the revision on the left. It happens a lot when someone hits "Revert" when someone else has already rolled back the edits. If the other reverter did it correctly (i.e. revert to the last non-vandal edit without making any other changes), the revision Huggle is reverting to will be identical to the current revision, and will be rejected by MediaWiki.

- It doesn't particularly surprise me that most Hugglers don't know this (Read the manual!), but when I need to revert vandalism conducted by more than one user, I open up the page in my web browser and use Twinkle or Popups to revert. Largely because I don't like the awkward edit summary Huggle generates when I revert multiple users, but also because it's a lot cleaner and less messy. K6ka (talk | contrib) 14:49, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
A cup of coffee for you!
Well, hiya there. I wanted to appreciate your excellent work in the anti-vandalism department. ClueBot NG's down and the IRC recent changes feed is wonky. It's just us humans now, fighting against a never-ending wave of vandals (seriously vandals, go play Minecraft or something). Humans need to sleep, ClueBot NG does not. But now that an important ally is gone, we must keep ourselves awake. Drink up, my friend, drink up! K6ka (talk | contrib) 04:23, 18 January 2014 (UTC) |
- Thank you! Turns out ClueBot, while also relying on an active RC IRC feed, also relies that the wmflabs server can talk to the replica DBs, which apparently is still not the case. The bot is otherwise operating as it should, so it's just a waiting game to get labs back in order. Big thanks to you as well for helping patch up what ClueBot can't do for us. Cheers :) — MusikAnimal talk 07:08, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

To my IP addresses talk page.
I'm really beginning to wonder what the previous holder if this IP Address was up to. I've noticed that he's also been banned by a forum that to my knowledge I had never visited before. Do you know if there's a way I can have a look through the edit history of my current IP Address and see what else's been going on? 69.195.136.251 (talk) 12:32, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- You can see the full list of contributions by your IP at Special:Contributions/69.195.136.251. A WHOIS report indicated your IP is registered to Joe's Datacenter, LLC. The report also yielded contact information for the network administrator, should you wish to report abuse. I placed a {{Shared IP}} template to your talk page for now. Hope this helps! — MusikAnimal talk 18:58, 26 January 2014 (UTC)

I just received a message saying that you deleted an edit I made. Just letting you know that 1. I didn't make that edit 2. I agree that it should have been deleted. BTW. - Hey! ISPs usually assign IP addresses dynamically. This means a given person may revisit Wikipedia with a different IP address, so you might receive messages that do not apply to you. You may register an account to avoid further irrelevant notices, among many other advantages. Replying here is just fine; Hope you like Wikipedia and decide to stay :) — MusikAnimal talk 16:20, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi MusikAnimal, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! AdmrBoltz 20:44, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
