Thanks for taking an interest in the article! Couple questions: when has Jack Conte played the Ukelele? And why do you consider Danielle Ate The Sandwich an associated act? I see they played a show right before Pomplamoose on November 13, 2009, but would that constitute being associated with them? I'm not really familiar with the details, so maybe you know something I don't. Thanks again. Jujutacular T · C 20:50, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Saskatchewan Newsletter February 2010

[edit]

Hello and welcome back to the WikiProject Saskatchewan newsletter! I, User:Presidentman, am the new editor. You may see some changes due to the fact it's my first newsletter. I'm just going easy on myself, but it will get more complex as time goes on.

  • Newsletter archives
    • Newsletter archives are listed since the conception of the wikiproject and show the evolution of Saskatchewan WikiProject and Saskatchewan articles on Wikipedia. Please feel free to contribute to the Next Issue! Any and all contributions are welcome.

  • Welcome
  • We’re excited to announce that User:Presidentman has joined WikiProject Saskatchewan as our Editor in Chief. Presidentman will oversee editorial content and the Saskatchewan Wikiproject community contributions on the Wikiproject newsletter. Presidentman has also successfully developed the Picture of the Day project and has been active on wikipedia for close to three years in a plethora of projects enriching wikipedia with close to 3,000 contributions. The transition between our old editor and the new has been smoother than any of us could have hoped for — SriMesh wrote their last newsletter article for January, 2010, and Presidentman started up without missing a beat for February 2010. The previous years for SriMesh, the past editor, had been richly rewarding, seeing subscriptions grow, informing interested editors of developments and changes to the Saskatchewan wikipedia community and supporting activities on the Saskatchewan Wikiproject. It is now time for me to move to new writing projects to finish, and further responsibilities which are vying for my attention. Please join me in welcoming Presidentman to the their new position! Presidentman is working on a host of new features and an updated look, which will take things to a new level. It is wonderful to have a new editor to bring in the new year! Expect great things.
Welcome Presidentman, and best wishes!
Your wonderful act of kindness to take on editorial capacity of the Saskatchewan Wikiproject news letter is much appreciated! Thank you so much!!!

Kind Regards, SriMesh | talk 18:36, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Does File:Chip Esten on 10-17-09.jpg this image look normal to you. It's really squished to me and looks terrible. It isn't a size issue, it's something with the original image and/or due to how it was resized. tedder (talk) 05:32, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Proposal to Close This RfC
  2. Alternate proposal to close this RFC: we don't need a whole new layer of bureaucracy

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Battlebowl. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Speedy deletion declined: Edward Chastain

[edit]

Hello Fishhead2100. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Edward Chastain, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Thank you. Nancy talk 10:41, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: bolding

[edit]

Correct. Per a discussion last summer, we separate finishing and signature moves into two lists rather than using bolding to distinguish between them. See WP:PW/SG#In wrestling for further details. And thank you for the invitation to the deletion discussion, but I prefer to spend my time improving and fixing articles, rather than arguing about their merits. Thanks, ♥NiciVampireHeart21:51, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take your word for it. I don't have time to go look at the article, inspect the sources, do a search of my own to see if there are more sources available, and then make a decision about the article. I'm extremely pressed for time at the moment, and have decided to devote my time to editing articles rather than participating in discussions, etc. unless I deem it critical to do so. A deletion discussion does not fit my description of critical, therefore I will not be a part of that discussion. ♥NiciVampireHeart22:11, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Julia Nunes

[edit]

Please answer the questions I pose on the talk page, or produce a cite that supports what you are adding to the Julia Nunes. I have asked you repeatedly to cite what you insist on having there, but you have not done so. I have even asked you to describe how you personally would describe the "Acoustic genre", but can't offer a satisfactory description that doesn't involve listing other genres of vastly varying types. Can you not see that this suggests that what you are describing isn't a genre, but a description of how you might play a genre?? "Acoustic Rock" is Rock played on acoustic instruments. "Acoustic jazz" is Jazz played acoustically. "Acoustic" by itself is nothing but a description of Nunes' instruments, it does not describe the music she plays on them.

This cannot be resolved unless you are willing to discuss it and rote declarations that "It is a genre" won't suffice. You need to demonstrate this. Why don't you create a Acoustic (music genre) article? --Escape Orbit (Talk) 23:29, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You say you have provided sources where "Acoustic" is identified as a genre, but I'm afraid I am unable to find them. Could you please provide me a link to where you did this? --Escape Orbit (Talk) 09:56, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, the third link on your signature doesn't work. I think it's supposed to go to Special:Contributions/Fishhead2100, but instead goes to User_contributions:Fishhead2100. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 10:00, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Have you found where you provided those sources? I know it must be difficult to locate, as I've already looked myself. If you can't find them, could you please let me know all the same, so I can remove the mention of it from the article as contested and unsourced. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 00:01, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. To examine your points;
  • Are you seriously suggesting that your MySpace page is a reliable source?? Indeed, I haven't 'bothered' to look at your MySpace page. Editors' self-published websites can never be considered as a source for anything.
  • This one states upfront in the opening paragraph that the competition is for "Acoustic artists in various genres". So clearly "Acoustic" is not a genre in itself.
  • This one is about the folk genre and says "Traditional folk music is a culturally specific, regional music made by the "folk," for the "folk," using acoustic (usually stringed) instrumentation". Nothing about Acoustic being a genre, but rather that the genre of Traditional folk is played on acoustic instruments.
  • The last one indeed mentions Acoustic as a genre, but its definition is rather vague. It would appear that it is music played on an acoustic instrument. The actual genre of the music performed could be any, so I would suggest that the person quoted is using the term genre rather loosely. It's worth noting that he also defines the artists discussed as singer-songwriters and/or solo (music) performers, if "Acoustic" is a genre, why aren't these genres too? But really, is this the best cite you have? A quote voicing the opinion of one person who happens to say "genre"?
  • Please stop asking me to produce a cite that proves a negative. It's illogical, not Wikipedia policy and betrays a fundamental misunderstanding on your part. The burden of proof lies with you, not with me.
So, to sum up;
  • You have failed to produce a suitable cite that defines "Acoustic" as a genre.
  • You have studiously avoided even providing a definition for the genre yourself.
  • The wikilink you are adding as a genre links to a page that makes no mention of "Acoustic" being a genre.
  • You have no interest in creating a Wikipedia article on a genre that you claim exists, but is notably absent from the encyclopaedia.
  • You do not understand (or choose to ignore) Wikipedia policy on verifiability or reliable sources.
  • You ignore questions directed at you and claim the issue is settled, because you say it is.
As it is impossible to get any real attempt from you to build consensus I intend to request a third opinion.--Escape Orbit (Talk) 11:33, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've explained this a number of times. Please read this link to policy. I don't need to provide links, you do. I can no more provide a reference to say that acoustic isn't a genre any more than I can provide a reference to say it isn't a flavour of bagel. My request for a third opinion has produced a suggested compromise. Please read it on the talk page. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 15:15, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't get why you are making such an issue of her music being "not pop", but your edit added is unsourced. So can you please add a reference ? Galf (talk) 20:23, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I did reference it, a simple Google search provided that source. Maybe you could do the same for your edits?Galf (talk) 20:36, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your concerns about my civility, however I fail to see how my suggestion that you use Google to find sources is somehow offensive.Galf (talk) 21:54, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: PWI 500

[edit]

A discussion here mentions "there have been discussions in the past. The consensus was to list only a wrestler's top PWI 500 rating (and position in the top 500 of the PWI years as well as ranking in PWI's top 100 tag teams of the PWI years)." I believe these discussions were before I joined the project, but it is a long-standing consensus. The reason for it is it would make the C&A section too long - could you imagine HBK/The Undertaker's articles if we listed every PWI 500 ranking they got? Of course if you disagree, feel free to bring it up at WT:PW and see what they say. ♥NiciVampireHeart13:06, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have recently participated in discussion at an AFD for a broadcast station. I have recently posted the above topic on the talk page of the notability guideline for organizations and companies, to see if there is interest in adding language related to the notability of radio and TV broadcast stations to that guideline. Your input would be most welcome. Thanks. Edison (talk) 01:31, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

London Irish Amateur

[edit]

Just to let you know, the AFD has been re-opened on the page as the user who opened it has mistakenly taken some vandalism as legitamate edits so could you close it again as he still has the same reason for deletion as last time? The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 07:17, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd suggest you don't "close" it, as you're not an admin, and your previous closure is outside of policy. Let the time run. CynofGavuf 11:08, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You'll never believe it, but CynofGavuf has started another AFD for London Irish Amateur's deletion and again using the amateur club as a reason but expanding on it a bit more this time. I think you may need to step in again. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 19:29, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just want to point out that if I had given OlYeller the info he wanted, he would have used it to attack me via another user. I have already applied WP:IPAT against him. Thanks for your input. !! Justa Punk !! 23:07, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It will. Like I said, I'm ignoring him now per the dispute resolution essays here. Thanks again. !! Justa Punk !! 23:28, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Justa never gave me the proof I asked for and still hasn't. He used another misleading comment to argue with the IP user which I've again pointed out to be false on the talk page. Justa seems to use stretching the truth to prove whatever point he wants. The issue of the article is all but finished but I worry that his arguements will be troublesome for the project. My guess it that, being a member of the pro wrestling project, Justa has to deal with a lot of BS edits. Being stern and quoting policies and guidelines in the way he does is a very easy way to deal with those users. If Justa is willing, I would be willing to discuss this situation with mediation. Constantly saying that I'm attacking him doesn't get us anywhere and I'm worried that he's falsely discussed me in more places than this. OlYellerTalktome 15:26, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Before I take action, does this look like socking to you? It sure looks like it to me. An IP user shows up on the page and makes this edit on the article (agreeing with Punk) and this edit on the talk page (agreeing with Punk). If you look at the edit history of the IP, you can see that it was used to archive part of Punk's talk page. That doesn't mean it's Justa but if you look at Justa's talk page history, you can see where he says that he forgot to log in while archiving. I don't see how there's any way to explain this other than socking. I'm interested in your view before I move on. OlYellerTalktome 03:56, 20 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your eyes please...

[edit]

I would ask that you might revisit the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aril (singer/actor) and revisit the article on Aril (singer/actor). Since your comments of two days ago, I think I have addressed concerns and given it a decent chance to survive and serve the project. Thanks, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 23:53, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No source was added with the reign addition. It is currently an FLC so not until a source was added or FIP's site was updated could it be added. That is why I removed it until after their site was updated.--WillC 04:03, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The other information is covered by the general references if they do not have their individual reference. Twitter isn't regarded an a trustworthy source, and even if it was, the link has to be provided. It is guidelines, no source for questionable information, than it isn't included. No ref was added and the general references did not cover he new reign at the time either.--WillC 23:56, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Amy Hennig (wrestler) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Doesn't meet WP:ATHLETE as she hasn't worked in a top promotion. Doesn't meet WP:ENTERTAINER or WP:GNG as there are no reliable third party sources in existence.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nikki311 03:27, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really understand your edit summary: [1]. I really do feel there is consensus to merge however. At the very least it is past time to make a decision. Perhaps we could inquire somewhere to have the discussion closed? (I don't really feel strongly either way, I'm just tired of the "merge" banner at the top of the article). Hello there. I think that adding just the SK portion of the WP:CA banner to the talk page will let the SK wikiproject know about the template ratings of importance and quality, checking off the community tab as well will provide ratings for the communities and neighbourhoods area of the SK wikiproject... I think the SKCN needs two areas checkmarked, and the provincial articles only need one...similar to Canada music or Canada sports, they each need two areas as well to show up by region and by subject. Is this what you are asking about? SriMesh | talk 04:10, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure if this particular article really particularly belongs in a community type of subject area...unless someone checked off communities because the folks talked about on the page came from divers communities, but that does not necessarily mean the communities persay are described. Kind Regards me again.SriMesh | talk 04:13, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article IWA East Coast Heavyweight Championship has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable championship for a company that fails WP:CORP.

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Just the Way You Are (Bruno Mars song). Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Yvesnimmo (talk) 08:36, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Let's get some things straight

[edit]

a) Blogs aren't reliable sources. b) There is nothing wrong with demanding good quality sources, in fact, the opposite is true. c) High standards of referencing should be applied to BLPs. d) Re: this edit summary, why? Me asking him wouldn't be a reliable source. e) That edit eummary smacks of childishness and sour grapes because I refused to allow you to post a link to your blog. f) Edit warring to re-insert information that is unreliably sourced on a BLP/re-insert a link to your blog is not a good idea. NiciVampireHeart 09:45, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know, I saw. Wasn't that difficult now was it? NiciVampireHeart 08:59, 4 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Ray William Johnson

[edit]

I understand your feelings in this case and I share them. Unfortunately, I do not know what to do. I cannot act as an admin and as an user, I can only try to talk to people. Unfortunately, if they refuse to accept the facts, there is little we can do. What might work is if you started an RFC on the issue to reach a solid consensus that can be used as an argument in future discussions. The better alternative would be to find some sources and put him on the list but unfortunately, those sources simply don't exist, so RFC is probably the best way forward now. Regards SoWhy 21:04, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just don't raise to the bait. People sometimes think that personally attacking another user is helpful but we all know it isn't. As I said above, start an RFC and allow others, who are not involved, to voice their opinions. Both you and me, just like those in favor of Mr. Johnson are far too involved at this point to be able to solve this. Regards SoWhy 19:55, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Are you an admin?

[edit]

Because if you're not, you're simply grandstanding on the YouTube celebrities article. You're enforcing your opinion of Wikipedia guidelines instead of acting as a Wiki admin. PokeHomsar (talk) 06:29, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Poke, I would give this one up until CNN does a story on Johnson and others. Fishhead has an issue with this and is clearly not reasonable. I am not a RWJ fan -- in fact, I think it is a bit of a hack... he rips off viral videos and has created fame with them. His humour is course and, frankly, hardly humor. This does not change the fact that he BELONGS on a list of YouTube personalities. The references prove that out. His status on YouTube proves that out. Fishhead, I think, just enjoys being obstructive and controlling. Peterchasefx (talk) 16:19, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I Agree with the above! Personal influence and attacks on others is not how someone should act on WP and they have violated that. Ban! Ban!Underwoodl06 (talk) 03:03, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • In response to your comment on my talkpage: I am not impressed with how you have conducted yourself in the debates over Mr. Johnson's notability, so if you want to accuse me of being juvenile, go right ahead. However, I would ask that you do not nominate it for deletion yourself, because you have made this a personal issue for yourself and would likely find it difficult to be objective. I regularly include parentheticals in citations to convey relevant information contained in the source. To claim that there's no information in the "article that people don't know" seems odd; I am sure there are people on earth who know not of Mr. Johnson, an encyclopedia is where they find that information.--Milowenttalkblp-r 07:04, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Are you serious?

[edit]

Do you have nothing better to do with your life than attack me? You're the one trolling the YouTube celebrities page, not me. PokeHomsar (talk) 21:28, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously

[edit]

Seriously, stop removing RWJ now. He has his own Wikipedia page now, which is filled with links. I added a bunch of links for him on the page to satisfy you. You do not just unilaterally remove RWJ after he'd been on the list for over a week. This is what the talk page is for. Discuss it there if you wish to remove him again. Do not do this again. PokeHomsar (talk) 04:19, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Terrillja, if that was uncivil, I am sure you will be permabanning C.C. for his conduct shortly. We must guard wikipedia against insidious ridiculousness as that which has been perpetrated by C.C.--Milowenttalkblp-r 19:33, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you have an issue, there are proper ways to discuss it and venues to get outside input. Not namecalling and acting juvenile. That goes for both of you.--Terrillja talk 19:39, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Replying to your comment on my talk page under "Mad": Luckily, wikipedia does not operate only on your personal opinions. We're all entitled to our opinions, but you are on notice to stop acting without consensus in this area. I'd note that the RWJ article made Did You Know? today, which it could not have done free of your alleged concerns.--Milowenttalkblp-r 21:09, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Again? We went over this at great length two years ago. Do you have a new source to back up your claim of a genre, or even a Wikipedia page describing the genre? Or are we just going to go through the same discussion as before? I've tried to explain my position, but if you believe that you can prove that Bob Dylan played the same genre as Luiz Gonzaga, both of whom undeniably played Acoustic music (the link you are adding to Julia Nunes genre field), I would be happy hear your reasoning. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 21:23, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are now edit warring. You know better than to do this. Please revert your edit and discuss on the talk page. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 00:01, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You are still edit warring. You decline support your changes, or respond to what I've said on the talk page and cannot explain why you are linking the genre field to a page with no mention of genre. Unless you can explain otherwise, I have no option but to conclude you want this change simply because you like it and you want it, no matter what the facts are.
Either demonstrate that;
* A - there is a genre called "Acoustic Music" (and perhaps create a Wikipedia article that explains what it is).
* B - Nunes plays this "Acoustic Music" genre (preferably with a cite)
Or cease re-entering this unsourced, unsupported information. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:17, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Second, go to the project talkpage and participate in a discussion about how to make the project more active, and how to go about making articles in our area of interest a lot better.

Unnecessary comment

[edit]

Do you have some kind of obsession with me? I left a good faith edit summary, and you should have left it at that. You might want to check the time stamps of the discussion. I was incredibly polite and civil, before the personal attacks and bad faith assumptions began. The other users were incredibly uncivil, so in return I should not be expected to be better. My goal is/was to hold up WP:BLP, not get rid of a precious template to an unreliable source. I really think I went through enough the last two days, if the discussion already ended why are you still bugging me? Heck the discussion almost ended in my favor, because none of the strong keeps (which were incredibly unprofessional, and very sheepish) had any policy backed response, and when it came down to it I refuted the points of everyone I responded to. STATic message me! 03:23, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Again, you are mistaken and making yourself look foolish, as you do not know what happened. If you read and check the time stamps you would understand that the "you get what you give" explains why I would be uncivil, since they were incredibly uncivil first. And about the Strong strong strong delete, that person origionally put "delete" but he changed it to strong strong strong delete, due to everyone in the debate being unprofessional and sheepish with their strong keeps that do not make their vote count anymore. You can ask him yourself, or check the edit history, but I was there I know what happened. STATic message me! 04:07, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
