Happy New Year Mojo Hand!

Thanks!

Thanks for taking care of my user pages! Happy New Year! - Location (talk) 21:14, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Glad to help - it keeps me from working on the hard stuff :) .--Mojo Hand (talk) 21:16, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Re Klang Gates Dam

Suit yourself. But if you choose to hide the secret truth from Malaysians, the choice is yours ;) Loyalloudpogostick (talk) 16:41, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello Loyalloudpogostick. One of the core principles of Wikipedia is that we don't publish original research or secret truths.--Mojo Hand (talk) 16:46, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Am I to presume you're Malaysian Special Branch working to hide the truth from Malaysians that they are being used as pawns? Loyalloudpogostick (talk) 16:50, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

If so, you'd have to admit that I have developed an excellent cover - I've been on Wikipedia since 2006, focusing mostly on articles related to the US state of Virginia. I suggest you apply Occam's razor, but that's just me.--Mojo Hand (talk) 16:59, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

I am of the understanding that the officers of the Special Branch were sufficiently capable to rise to leadership ranks in the Communist Party of Malaya while remaining double agents. Knowing the importance of the pact with the Grey mission to our solar system, it is conceivable that all sources - social media, online encyclopedias would be monitored to prevent the truth getting out.

I wish you all the best Loyalloudpogostick (talk) 17:02, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Thank You For The Welcome To the VA WP

Thank you for the welcome to the Virginia WikiProject! I will definitely let you know if I have any questions or need asssistance (provided I have first searched for myself). On another note, I notice on your page that you were looking for a modern image of the Prince Edward County courthouse building. I do believe I may have one or two photos of it (I'm a semi-pro photog) that might fit the bill. I'll see if I can dig them up. I also know that photos do exist of the old courthouse building in what is now Worsham (formerly Prince Edward Courthouse). Thank you again for the welcome. JerseyMutt (talk) 19:34, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

@JerseyMutt: Donating a copy of the Prince Edward courthouse would be awesome! It's one of the handful of VA counties that is missing a modern (or any) courthouse image. My long term goal is get them all!--Mojo Hand (talk) 19:59, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, you removed the prod tag here, citing that this article was previously proded. Can you point it, when was it proded earlier? Are you referring to any deleted version of this article ? --User talk:Vigyani 03:41, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Yes - if you look at the deletion log, you'll see that the article was previously deleted as a result of a previous prod. Accordingly, I think the right course is to put the article into AfD and hopefully get some closure to the deletion of the article.--Mojo Hand (talk) 04:32, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Nomination of Alliance Global Group for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Alliance Global Group is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alliance Global Group (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. —BarrelProof (talk) 18:51, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

Source of revision 630962097?

Hi,

I would like to improve Environmental issues in Turkey but am having trouble finding the source of the quote attributed to the UN "there was a drastic drop in export growth for Turkey between 2012 and 2013, from over 16 per cent to about 3 per cent; this is closely linked to the current changes in environmental norms" and whether the link is suspected to be causal. If you can help me find this quote could you let me know via my talk page? Jzlcdh (talk) 23:21, 18 January 2015 (UTC)

Protected edit request on 19 January 2015

Hello Mojo, You sent me an e-mail on Jan 5, informing me that I had not made any further updates to my draft page Draft:Gerald Braden - Composer - Musician. Unfortunately, I was out of town, and returned to see that you deleted my draft the very next day, on Jan 6. Is there any way to retrieve this draft page? I did not know there was any time limit to keeping the draft without making any changes. Thank you! With regards,

Gerald Braden

Composer-Musician

Deletion/Amalia Marquez:

Hi.. although this wikipage has been prima facie deleted, it still exists on Wikipedia as part of the user Mmyotis' user page, suspect references and all:

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Mmyotis/Amalia_Marquez

To be noted is the user's connection to a multi-cited website source, (sustained action/reaction), where said user has moderator/admin permissions. Vested interests apart, is this page continuation permissible under Wiki's rules/guidelines? If so, it would seem to be rather odd and some feedback would be appreciated.

Thankyou. 89.240.172.57 (talk) 16:59, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

More leeway is allowed in userspace to develop article content, as it is not part of the formal encyclopedia. I don't see anything obviously wrong with the content. However, you may want to get a second opinion from User:Lankiveil, who previously listed the original article for WP:AFD and apparently looked at this in greater detail. --Mojo Hand (talk) 21:23, 22 January 2015 (UTC)

Could you restore this? I was a bit hasty yesterday.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 21:09, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi there! You had a page I created yesterday, Success 3.0 Summit, deleted. And apparently rightly so as it was about an event. So thanks for being on top of that! However, the Success 3.0 Summit is a movement as well as an event, relevant to many speakers and thought leaders, and spearheaded in part by John Mackey (owner of Whole Foods), so we would like to have a wiki page about the event and its intentions. If I were to recreate a page focusing more on the movement and thoughts behind it, as well as citing the speakers and founders more successfully (apologies, this was my first article), would such an article be left up? Thanks for keeping Wikipedia decluttered and on point. Sunnycalih (talk) 19:33, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello Sunnycalih - don't feel back, as none of us are perfect here. As to likelihood of the page being kept, it's hard to say without seeing what references are available. Good references are really the key to getting articles kept on Wikipedia - see the WP:Golden rule. Good luck!--Mojo Hand (talk) 20:03, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Mt Pleasant Public School

I was wondering why you were editing my page on Mt Pleasant Public School we are trying to make it with all the info of the school and you are changing it. Can you please stop! Thanks so much

Ninjaturkey123 (talk) 22:09, 30 January 2015 (UTC) Ninjaturkey123

Hello Ninjaturkey123. You seem to misunderstand how Wikipedia works - you may want to take a look at our introduction page. One key principle is that nobody owns any article, and editors are free to make good faith edits. Let me know if you have any other questions.--Mojo Hand (talk) 22:16, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

How do you put a lock on a page? Ninjaturkey123 (talk) 22:32, 30 January 2015 (UTC) Ninjaturkey123

Pages can be protected by administrators, but only for very specific reasons (which don't apply here). If you want to have more freedom, I suggest you look at creating a draft - see Wikipedia:Drafts.--Mojo Hand (talk) 22:40, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

AllyD page

Thanks for that - I wasn't wanting to go over the 3RR myself while warning RSK about it... Peridon (talk) 17:35, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

No worries - looks like pure vandalism/disruption. I was just debating if there was any chance of salvaging RSK, but it looks like s/he is just intent on disruption at this point.--Mojo Hand (talk) 17:40, 31 January 2015 (UTC)
I knew someone would be along soon... As their deleted editing looks like self-promo, I wouldn't think there's much chance of rescuing a useful editor. Not if he's going to go off and tag things like that. Peridon (talk) 17:55, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Deletion

Hi Mojo Hand, I see that you have deleted Aphrodisias (disambiguation) w/o a serious reason. Why unnecessary ? There are two existing articles with the same name (and probably more still waiting to be created). Next time, please be a bit more considerate before rushing to delete articles. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 19:13, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

Hello Nedim Ardoğa. I deleted the article because it had been properly proposed for deletion and not challenged for nine days - hardly a "rush". If you want to request the restoration of the page, you can. However, I agree with the stated reason - disambiguation was unnecessary in this case. Specifically, we have a clear primary subject at Aphrodisias, and the secondary subject can be disambiguated with the existing hatnote - see WP:TWODABS. Let me know if you have questions.--Mojo Hand (talk) 20:49, 31 January 2015 (UTC)

request a deleted article

Hi, you closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of law firms in Uganda last year. While your closing that as "Delete" was reasonable given the discussion, I and maybe some others are now wanting to develop the topic (see discussion within current Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Birungyi Barata.), and I would like both to see the edit history and to ensure that past contributors are properly credited in a re-developed list-article. Could you possibly please restore a full copy, with edit history, of the List of law firms in Uganda article, to Draft:List of law firms in Uganda? --doncram 18:54, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Of course - happy to help the effort. I've made the move as requested.--Mojo Hand (talk) 19:25, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Mohammed Yunis

You deleted the article on Mohammed Yunis, as a speedy g3 -- a hoax. Yunis is one of the members of the Quetta Shura.

Could I request you review the revision history, to see if the version you thought was a hoax looked like a hoax due to vandalism? Geo Swan (talk) 20:54, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi Geo Swan - the article I deleted was a few sentences created by one user. It was about a supposed Iraqi footballer who claims to be the most expensive footballer in history when he transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid, and, despite his athletic career, apparently had a chemistry exam due. Doesn't seem like your guy, but I'd be happy to undelete for you to take a look if you think there's anything valid there.--Mojo Hand (talk) 21:55, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
  • Thanks, but if there are no edits by me in the revision history I'll just start from scratch.
Thanks for the prompt reply. Geo Swan (talk) 02:56, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

WP:NRVE. Topic notability is found through sources being available, and not through a use or not in an article... even a crappy article. Might you revisit the AFD? Thanks. Schmidt, Michael Q. 04:10, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Merger of Tiger Blue with Yorkshire Tiger

Good Afternoon,

I have seen that you have un-merged Tiger Blue from Yorkshire Tiger. I have left a week for discussion and no responses where made and the Wikipedia rules where followed. Tiger Blue is being potrayed as a separate company when this is very much not the case. By carrying out a check on the Traffic Area Network of VOSA will show that all Tiger BLue routes have been re-registered with Yorkshire Tiger.

Could I ask to your reasons for un-merging?

Best Wishes and Kind Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.226.23.207 (talk) 14:04, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi 151.226.23.207. I think you have the wrong editor. I didn't do any merging or "un-merging" of Tiger Blue. All I did was to stop the proposed deletion of the page because I thought it should be a redirect. I think you may be looking for User:Davey2010.--Mojo Hand (talk) 21:32, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
Ah I wasn't aware he posted here - All sorted anyway :) –Davey2010Talk 21:39, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Defiance Cycle Ride

You recently deleted my stub article on the above, reasons given: that there were no independent sources. This is not now the case as there are a number of newspaper articles and a television report about it. Just Google Defiance Cycle Ride to see some. Can you please then reinstate it as this event is important to us in Wales Canol (talk) 20:17, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

The article was deleted after discussion and consensus at WP:AFD. I suggest taking a look at the guideline on the notability of an event - WP:EVENT, noting the information about routine coverage. However, I am generally willing to restore an article if an editor wants to work on it in user-space.--Mojo Hand (talk) 21:27, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your response, I would like the article reinstated as a number of Wikipedians could then contribute to it. I have now read the event notability guidelines and believe there is still a case for this article. It commemorates a historical event and is not just a one off news item. Can you reinstate it please Canol (talk) 21:52, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
I have restored the article to your userspace at User:Canol/Defiance cycle ride. I strongly suggest adding the additional references before moving it into the main encyclopedia space, to avoid it being speedy deleted under WP:CSD#G4. Alternately, I think it would be even better to merge this content with the Defiance Cycle Company article. That would be good content for the company article and avoid the notability concern. Good luck, and let me know if you need assistance.--Mojo Hand (talk) 19:22, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Christopher Ragland

I noticed you had deleted a page on Christopher Ragland. Even though I am not the article's creator. Can you please restore the page?, I have found some reliable sources. --ACase0000 (talk) 13:51, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Fair enough. I have restored the page and moved it to User:ACase0000/sandbox2. You can work on it there at your leisure, and move it to live space when you are ready.--Mojo Hand (talk) 19:16, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
Thank so much! --ACase0000 (talk) 04:38, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
Hey Can you take a look at the page now and see what you think? --ACase0000 (talk) 14:33, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
Hello ACase0000 - the page is definitely looking better. Has Ragland officially taken over the voice of Percy yet?--Mojo Hand (talk) 20:40, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
@Mojo Hand: No, Not until season 19 airs later this year. But I would say he has already recorded the audio. --ACase0000 (talk) 02:00, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
I think the article sufficiently asserts notability (in my opinion), so it's safe from speedy deletion. I'm not sure it would survive AfD, but it looks comparable to similar articles.--Mojo Hand (talk) 15:25, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
So do you think it is safe to move into article space now? --ACase0000 (talk) 08:00, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
@ACase0000: Sorry - I missed your last note. Whether the article is ultimately kept is up to the community at large. However, when in doubt, I think you should be bold.--Mojo Hand (talk) 15:11, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

"scientific errors in Quran is not accurate and misinterpreted by wikiIslam- a bias unreliable source"

Hi I have requested to remove the "scientific errors in the Quran" because it contains inaccurate postings and it was extracted by a bias source called "wikiislam" , a website focussed on the criticism of Islam. Thats why I did not accidentally remove it, if you can please remove that section of "scientific errors in Quran" since I have accurate sources that "Mountains do in fact stabilise the Earth" from science amongst other things. So if you please remove the whole section of "scientific errors in the Quran" would be great, thanks. Emer321 (talk) 19:33, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello Emer321. Wikipedia operates on consensus. If you disagree with that section of the article, the best course is to start a discussion on the article's talk page - Talk:Islam and science. I did however remove a link to Wikiislam, as that was not a proper redirection.--Mojo Hand (talk) 19:53, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

It doesn't make sense to keep unreliable information if it was extracted from an unreliable source focused on criticism. You can't keep something that has no source, that doesn't make sense, please remove it, its original information by unreliable source, straight from wikiislam. Angela Magana

I noticed you deleted this page, and I can't find an older version of it, or even the deletion log for that matter. The History just lists your deletion and nothing more. I'm not looking to restore it at the moment, but might you happen to be able to point me in the direction of a copy of the original page? She is a UFC-contracted fighter and would only need 2 more fights there to officially fulfill the WP MMA Project Notability guidelines, so the chances of her qualifying within the next year are more than reasonable. Beansy (talk) 00:16, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello Beansy. I actually only deleted a useless redirect; the original article was at Angela Magaña. That page was deleted by user:Joe Decker after a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Angela Magaña. Pursuant to the deletion, there is no copy kept on the public encyclopedia. However, if the subject gets to the point where you think she is sufficiently notable and you want to create an article, you can ask Joe Decker (or me) to restore the previous article, rather than starting from scratch.--Mojo Hand (talk) 13:52, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for the information, it is much appreciated. I may take you up on it if that happens. I'm not exactly a fan of the person, but it did strike me as odd that an athlete who is currently under UFC contract, and who also got notoriety on a nationally televised reality show, would get their page deleted on a technicality. Beansy (talk) 21:29, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Contesting of Speedy Deletion For Together Marketing

First the page I created for Together Marketing was nominated for speedy deletion due to copyright infringement. I would like to contest this due to the fact that the administrator actually used my definition with my permission. The mix up comes because the definition on their page was immediately published while my Wikipedia page was still under review. They have since changed the wording of their definition via my request.

Second, it was recommended that I merge Together Marketing with Affinity marketing which I also want to appeal. Affinity Marketing and Together Marketing may sound similar, but are pretty different. Affinity marketing seems to focus on a one on one relationship between affinity groups and suppliers where Together Marketing encourages working with many partners that are not limited to affinity groups in any way. From what I understand through the affinity group Wikipedia page, affinity groups are just "groups formed around a shared interest or common goal... and their purposes must be primarily non-commercial". Together marketing works with partners that are commercial and non-commercial alike. The partners can be anything from one blogger to a company as big as Nike and everything in between. So while it is not limited to affinity groups, they could also be brought in as partners along side other commercial partners. Affinity Marketing also involves some exchange of money as stated on their wiki page "But usually, affinity groups increase their income by asking a commission for example." Together marketing involves no monetary exchange between partners. The only objective is to help and get help from multiple partners to reach a bigger target audience. The working with multiple partners at once is what also separates Together Marketing from Co-branding.

As I'm sure you can tell, this is the first article I have ever submitted for Wikipedia. With that said, I obviously do not want to get myself banned or break any rules when attempting to resubmit my Together Marketing page. Any guidance on the best way to go about this process would be much appreciated. I also want to say that I had no idea how rigorous this process was and I have a new found respect for the information posted through Wikipedia as well as the extent that moderators go through to ensure quality content. Thank you for your work and for any help! Jessmu (talk) 17:17, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Hello Jessmu; unless I am missing something, Jimfbleak is the admin who deleted the page, so he is probably the one you should discuss this with. However, you should know that one of Wikipedia's guidelines strongly discourages editors from creating pages about companies that they are affiliated with. Good luck. --Mojo Hand (talk) 19:01, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
Hello Jessmu; I've seen this. Can I suggest that you copy the first two paragrpahs above to my talk page so we can discuss it from there. When you do so, please clarify who you mean by the "administrator" you mention in para 1, thanks Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:01, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

Parasat Cable TV PROD

Hello, Mojo Hand. I noticed you removed the PROD from Parasat Cable TV noting that it was previously kept under an AFD before. I looked at the AFD listed on the talk page, which never once mentioned Parasat Cable nor remotely included it. I don't think that discussion should disqualify its PROD, which was unopposed for over the 7-day period. -- Wikipedical (talk) 17:42, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

Upon further reflection, I think you are right. Previous listing at AfD disqualifies an article from PROD, but you are correct that there doesn't seem to be any discussion or inclusion of this article discussed in the AfD. Looks like the AfD link was added in error.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention.--Mojo Hand (talk) 17:53, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

Re: Chork

I noticed that you responded to my proposal to delete Chork by saying that article had already been proposed, and it was decided that it be kept, however, I was unable to find any record of the deletion discussion; nor was that article in the category of past deletion candidates. Could you please tell me where/how to find this deletion discussion? Thank you. Dalamori (talk) 16:54, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello Dalamori. If you check the log, you'll see that Chork was PROD'd and deleted in 2007. There was no discussion, but PROD is a one-shot deal. At this point, the best course is to take it to AfD.--Mojo Hand (talk) 18:25, 9 May 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much for this link; I've done what you suggested. Dalamori (talk) 06:02, 24 May 2015 (UTC)

Mason Springthorpe

Hi, please can you advise what the status of the page for Mason Springthorpe is? I see you were involved in the discussion to delete on the subject's talk page in June 2014 however the article is still active. He still doesn't meet the notability criteria having never made an appearance in a professional league, and given that he has recently signed for a club in a semi-professional league, doesn't look like he will meet it any time soon. Apologies I am not experienced in the etiquette of these matters.... JMShrewsbury (talk) 19:27, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello JMShrewsbury - your question is perfectly appropriate. I previously deleted the page after a deletion discussion. It appears the page has been recently restored by another admin, by request, with editors asserting that Springthorpe meets WP:GNG by virtue of articles in BBC sports and the Daily Mail etc. The article is certainly improved and better referenced than the version that was deleted after the AfD, so if you want to pursue it, it would probably have to go back to AfD for community consensus. Personally, I think it's a bit borderline, but I confess I don't deal much with WP:Footy articles. I would be interested to hear from the editor who initiated the prior AfD to see what he thinks - @ChrisTheDude: any thoughts?--Mojo Hand (talk) 20:16, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
Hi Mojo Hand, I'd not seen the GNG criteria before, on the basis of that I suspect he is borderline-ok as you suggest. I just think I smell a rat somewhere - for a player who has made most of his appearances at the tenth level of English football he has a wiki article that would shame many professional players..... JMShrewsbury (talk) 20:56, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
Wikipedia is based on editor interest, so we have lots of inconsistencies in coverage. For example, we have a better article on Squidward Tentacles than we do on most world leaders. Even so, it is odd for a minor level English footballer to get this attention.--Mojo Hand (talk) 16:17, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your assistance, think I will leave this one to it's own devices for now.JMShrewsbury (talk) 21:01, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Good compromise. :-) I disagree with the fact that the article was deleted, and was unaware it had been nominated. :-( But thanks for coming up with a good middle ground. --Zackmann08 (talk) 17:05, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

I am a fan of compromise. The article that was deleted only had two bare sentences of content. If you are interested in trying to make something better out of it, I would be happy to userfy it.--Mojo Hand (talk) 20:39, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
I will add it to my to-do list. Thanks! --Zackmann08 (talk) 21:19, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
I applaud your work ethic. You want me to go ahead and userfy it now?--Mojo Hand (talk) 21:47, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
Well thank you. I try. I haven't actually started that article in my namespace yet. But once I have I will ping you for user! --Zackmann08 (talk) 21:52, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
If you want to use the deleted article as a starting point, it's easier to create it into your userspace (I can undelete and move it right to User:Zackmann08/IN-TF1. Otherwise, we would have to do some kind of merger. However, the article was literally just two sentences long, so it might be almost as easy to start from scratch. Whichever way you want to proceed is fine by me.--Mojo Hand (talk) 00:37, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
I will let you know. By the way... if you are so inclined, take a look at this. If you care to comment, would be appreciated. --Zackmann08 (talk) 00:41, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Advice...

Any advice on how to handle this? --Zackmann08 (talk) 16:27, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

I would have avoided questioning his motives in your initial post (i.e. that he made the initial post because he doesn't like you). You were both clearly irritated, and in that situation it's almost always best to focus on the content issues and not the personalities. You can ask him not to post on your talk page again, though I personally avoid that as a last resort.--Mojo Hand (talk) 19:12, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
Yea. In hindsight that wasn't too helpful of me. :-\ Thanks for the advice. --Zackmann08 (talk) 19:17, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed you deleted Nish Kumar earlier. However, it's interestingly been recreated by User:Loulou lemon91 with no talkpage history suggesting that this isn't the original creator (i.e. is a sockpuppet). Could you tell me the name of the user who created the page the first time so I may open an SPI into the users? Thanks for your help! --Non-Dropframe talk 22:46, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello Non-dropframe. The first version of the "article" was created by User:MacMcKitterick. FYI - the entire content s/he created was "Here's your wikipedia page! Stop eating food off a conveyor belt."--Mojo Hand (talk) 00:05, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
I've see some interesting G1 articles. That's certainly...among them. Anyhow, I've opened an SPI on what now seem to be two puppets and even a third, if you count the IP I was informed of. Thanks for your help! --Non-Dropframe talk 00:09, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

More Advice

Hello! I wanted to get your advice again on how to deal with a different issue. As we have previously discussed, I am in the process of redoing all the U.S. fire department pages. One of the ones I am currently working on is Jersey City Fire Department. As I have attempted to tidy up the page and remove content that violates WP:NOTSTATSBOOK (among other issues), there is an anonymous user that keeps reverting my edits: 24.94.111.116. Initially I just templated them but then decided a more personal approach might be better, so I tried leaving them 2 separate message on their talk page, and have opened an issue on the JCFD Talk Page, but the user has not responded. The only page that this IP address has edited is this one and it feels to me like this user is attempting to take ownership of the page and revert any edit that he/she doesn't like. Additionally, the edits have no summary or explanation at all. Anyway, I won't rant, I just would like advice on how best to proceed. Thanks a bunch! --Zackmann08 (talk) 21:13, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

That is one of the more challenging scenarios in Wiki - dealing with another person who is apparently acting in good faith, but not engaging in discussion or communication. My personal approach to these situations is to use patience and time. I start with small changes and see if I can get them to stick - and hopefully build some rapport with the other editor. There are other avenues (see dispute resolution), but I've had better success using patience and time. I hope that doesn't sound too Zen.--Mojo Hand (talk) 03:22, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
Ah the zen approach. Me likey. :-p Thanks for the advice! Have a great Wednesday. --Zackmann08 (talk) 15:55, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Dude DO IT! --Zackmann08 (talk) 20:25, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
So with this IP's latest edit it looks like this individual is trying to use this page as an up-to-the-minute status of the engines. "Engine 2 is riding on Engine 33 today because 2's is having the oil changed..."... You gotta help me here. I've tried over and over to contact them. -_- --Zackmann08 (talk) 22:30, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
Also, full disclosure, I also raised this issue with another admin, Diannaa. Not because I don't like your answer or anything like that. I appreciate your insight! I really do. I'm interested in getting a 2nd opinion. :-) --Zackmann08 (talk) 22:43, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
No worries - I'd be interested in another opinion too.--Mojo Hand (talk) 03:15, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

Well try as I might seems like there is no contacting this individual. Thanks for assisting with reverting changes. Any other advice? I do like the zen approach, just doesn't seem to be working in this case. :-\ --Zackmann08 (talk) 23:13, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

I think things are going fine. The editor is still not communicating, but I think s/he is starting to get the point - There is no deadline.--Mojo Hand (talk) 16:00, 14 June 2015 (UTC)
Ah the zen approach again. :-p I like it. And good point about WP:TIND. Another good lesson for me. Thanks for your continued advice and guidance. --Zackmann08 (talk) 19:31, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

HELP!?!?!

So I messed something up that I can't fix. :-( I tried to move Downtown (Washington, D.C.) to Downtown, Washington, D.C. to be more consistent with other Neighborhood pages, but like an idiot, I put a period instead of a comma giving me Downtown. Washington, D.C.. and the target I wanted is already there so I can't fix it... Bottom line... Both Downtown (Washington, D.C.) & Downtown. Washington, D.C. need to redirect to Downtown, Washington, D.C.. Thanks in advance. --Zackmann08 (talk) 05:02, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

More help?

Heyo! Happy Sunday! Wanted to see if I could hit you up for another page move. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department page is incorrectly titled. In the body of the article it is constantly referred to as the Ventura County Sheriff's Office (a change that was recently made by another editor). Upon consulting the department's website I found that they are in fact referred to as the VCSO not VCSD. Anyway, the Office page currently redirects to Department. Wanted to see if you could reverse that for me. I don't have the necessary rights to perform this type of page move. Bottom line Ventura County Sheriff's Department needs to redirect to Ventura County Sheriff's Office. Thank you kindly! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:44, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Done and happy to help. FYI - if I am not around, you can also use {{Db-move}} for non-controversial page move requests (if the target has a trivial page history).--Mojo Hand (talk) 13:53, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Many thanks! --Zackmann08 (Talk to me/What I been doing) 15:45, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Back in 2011 you deleted this page given the nefarious nature of this individual. Given there was a subsequent civil trial by the SEC and a further criminal trial involving both the FBI and US Marshall service and numerous "notable" press articles on this individual, how about we create a page with the truth as opposed to the fabricated information from the individual? OpenOpt page deleted

Hi Mojo_Hand, I noticed you deleted the page OpenOpt, however it is a very good open source library for Optimization problem. We used it in a research project and I needed some info to insert in a relation. I'm not able to see what has been written in the page, but I don't think that this was an "Article about a website, blog, web forum, webcomic, podcast, browser game, or similar web content, which does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject". Moreover there are many pages that link to it: Special:WhatLinksHere/OpenOpt Deliaviola (talk) 14:31, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Hello Deliaviola. The version of the page that I deleted contained one sentence and included no references or any indication of notability. Hello Chocolatecoveredorangestuff2. I agree that the edit should not have been flagged as vandalism. However, the content is not appropriate for an encyclopedia article (e.g. "She hates chocolate covered orange stuff"), and just because something has been "vetted by a social media team" is not a reason to include it on Wikipedia - see WP:COI.--Mojo Hand (talk) 16:11, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

REFERENCES

You said this.... ello, I'm C.Fred. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Sell your cloak and buy a sword, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. The requirements for reliable sources extend to scriptural interpretation. You need to show where acknowledged biblical scholars have mate the interpretation—or at least that it's a widely-held interpretation. You also need to cite the sources you're using to support that claim. —C.Fred (talk) 15:01, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Also, the Bible is a primary source and can be cited to show the exact text but not to draw any conclusion about what the text means. —C.Fred (talk) 15:10, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

You say the "Bible is a primary source and can be citied to show the exact text but not to draw any conclusions about what the text means.

THIS....is exactly the problem Mojo. The articles that I am editing .... ALL of them are drawing conclusions about what the Bible says. YET, when I edit these....Showing what the Bible states, YOU or someone...deletes it. If the intent of Wikipedia is to spread lies then you are doing a good job. I am quoting the ORIGINAL source. Not some human author with a human opinion on what he/she would LIKE for the Bible to say. Either allow my quotes or put up an internet wide notice that you do not allow quoting the original source .... Which is God.ChristianRand (talk) 16:13, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Hello ChristianRand - Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, which means that we are a tertiary source. So, one of our core principles is that we do not publish original research or our own personal opinions. If you want to publish your theories or interpretations, I recommend creating a personal website or a blog.--Mojo Hand (talk) 16:23, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

Bugra Berberoglu

Good morning Mr. Mojo Hand, You have cited the article "Bugra Berberoglu", who is currently the CEO of Rixos Hotels and this information is all over Google on credible websites such as Bloomberg, for speedy deletion. As this is my first time using Wikipedia I would really like to know the reasons why and how I can work to create this page properly with your guidance. Sincere regards. Natalyamalysheva (talk) 05:12, 6 August 2015 (UTC)Natalyamalysheva 9:12, 6 August 2015 (GMT+4)

Hello Natalyamalysheva. There were a number of issues with the article that was deleted. First and foremost, the content was copied from his LinkedIn page, and we cannot accept copyrighted material. Second, the page looked like a LinkedIn profile rather than an encyclopedia page - words like "prestigious" and "ambitious vision" are not appropriate to a neutral encyclopedia article. Third, there really wasn't anything to show why this subject is particularly notable - the small blurb from Bloomberg was a start, but it really needed something else.
I have several suggestions that might help you. For example, I suggest looking at other articles about similar subjects - seeing how other articles are structured and referenced is the best way to understand Wikipedia. Also, I recommend starting new articles in the draftspace, where you can work on the page without the pressure of the live encyclopedia. Finally, your edit history states that you are associated with Rixos. Accordingly, you should review the guideline on conflicts of interest; editors are strongly discouraged from editing subjects where they have a financial interest. I recommend you work on other articles where you do not have a direct interest. I hope this helps.--Mojo Hand (talk) 13:56, 6 August 2015 (UTC)

Notable?

Hey, I have a question: I started work on an article for Catherine Kaidyee Blaikley in my userspace. Initially I thought that there would be a good amount of notability for her, but while writing up the article I noted that the two strongest sources were written by the same person. There's mention of her in other places, but not anything as big or lengthy as I'd like. I think that she would pass notability guidelines, but I'm not 100% on it and I'd love a second opinion. It's still in my userspace at the above link. If you think she passes, feel free to move her to the mainspace. If not, I'll hold on to this in my userspace for the time being and see if I can find something else. If you know of any good locations to check and have spare time to do it, go right ahead and edit away. (Although I will take some recommendations, if you have them.) What makes me lean towards notability, other than the sources in the article, are things like this book where she's considered major enough to mention. If the two most in-depth sources were by separate people I wouldn't worry as much, but I can see people arguing that there isn't a big depth of coverage. My initial feeling is that anyone who gets a full write-up in the Encyclopedia of Virginia is probably notable. The hard part is finding sources on subjects that old, but you've done a good job already. I'll take a deeper look, but I think it's looking good.--Mojo Hand (talk) 21:47, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
  • Thanks! Part of the biggest issue is just that her biggest claim to fame is the assertion of the number of babies, so that usually just gets printed as a brief factoid rather than a more full writeup in most places. Still, that she's mentioned in so many locations, many of which are academic sources, should count for something. Tokyogirl79LVA (talk) 12:39, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
  • She seems generally pretty remarkable for the times, though especially for delivering so many babies in the 18th century, when the population of Williamsburg was only 2000. I will probably tinker, but I don't see any reason to delay - I moved it live per your earlier comment.--Mojo Hand (talk) 22:30, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I see you deleted Draft:Spooky Southcoast as an abandoned AFC draft a few months ago. I've recently come across some sources and indications that the topic may be notable, and am considering writing an article about it. I'm curious as to what the deleted draft looked like - was there usable material there? Or was it unsalvageable spam and nonsense? If there is anything worthwhile there, would you consider restoring it to so I can work on it?~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 16:45, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi @ONUnicorn: - the entire previous article was one sentence and two refs/ELs (www.WBSM.com and www.SpookySouthcoast.com). I'm more than happy to restore it, but I think you'd be as well to start fresh. Just let me know.--Mojo Hand (talk) 18:43, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Ok, based on your description, I think you're probably right that I'd be as well to start fresh. Thank you though! ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 18:47, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Matt Garst article

I just wanted to let you know that the article Matt Garst was being deleted by the supposed individual whom the article is about. I was attempting to work with the supposed owner to discover a reason as to why he deleted the content entirely. Then you just slapped the standard vandalism 2 template on the IP's talk page. It seemed delicate to me, and instead of warning them I think informing them of the ownership policy might had been a better idea. That's all. But then again it's just an IP and honestly they will probably never read their talk page.
-TheCaliforniaKansan (talk) 16:50, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

Hello TheCaliforniaKansan - there is a history of IP's removing content, changing the subject's name and even disputing whether he was a marine. It looked like vandalism to me, but I suppose it could be the subject trying to contact us. So, I applaud you for trying to make the outreach, and sorry if I set that effort back.--Mojo Hand (talk) 17:55, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
Don't sweat it. As I said, IPs almost never look at their talk pages. If only edits could only be made by autoconfirmed users. Cheers!

Help

  • I am being asked a number of pressing questions by User:Widefox and request assistance.Huskers110110 (talk) 10:57, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
    • Hey Mojo, I took a look at this situation and Widefox wasn't asking any pressing questions, but was actually giving some really good advice about how Huskers can create better articles and become a better editor. I didn't see anything remotely pressing or bullying, as Huskers had said on his talk page. I think this is a case of "new editor overwhelmed". - NeutralhomerTalk12:55, 2 November 2015 (UTC)
It is an interesting one, shame user hasn't been directed towards AfC until now. Widefox; talk 18:47, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

The 451 Group

Seven years ago you deleted a page for my company The 451 Group. Given there is a page for a company that we own, which references The 451 Group, I'd like to request a reinstatement of that page so we can carry on editing and developing it. All our principal competitors have Wikipedia pages, including Gartner, Forrester Research and IDC . Thanks Fulham (talk) 22:25, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

Hello Fulham. Please take a look at the Wikipedia guideline on conflicts of interest. Writing or editing an article about a company you own creates an inherent bias and is therefore strongly discouraged. So, I suggest editing other articles on subjects that may interest you, but where you don't have a personal interest.--Mojo Hand (talk) 02:19, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

PorterWords

I was curious to why PorterWords was deleted. My friend made this website, and I think it should be known about. THANK YOU — Preceding unsigned comment added by Climbeverestblind (talkcontribs)

Hello Climbeverestblind. Please take a look at Wikipedia:Credible claim of significance; in order to be included on Wikipedia, an article must make a credible claim of significane. I hope that helps.--Mojo Hand (talk) 22:47, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Deletion of redirects from WT:AFC

What's the point of deleting redirect subpages of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation, as you did with Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/0C, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/008, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/1-D Saint Venant Equation, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Montana, The Magazine of Western History and many others? CSD G8 is not applicable to WT:AFC subpages (as is explicitly stated at WP:G8), and selective deletion of a few of these anyway seems pointless as there are thousands of these (see prefix search). 103.6.159.85 (talk) 10:20, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

I deleted them because they were tagged for deletion by another editor, and I was clearing the backlog. The pages appeared to me to qualify under WP:CSD#G8. I recognize that G8 excludes drafts, but these were not drafts inasmuch as the draft had already been moved to the mainspace. It seems like a bit of a grey area - is there any value to those pages?--Mojo Hand (talk) 15:00, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Lviv IT Cluster

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Your comment to deletion of Lviv IT Cluster article was "Hello Roman Pollovyi. Your group seems to have good intentions, but Wikipedia is not a web host or place to promote your group; there are other places on the internet that are designed for that.--Mojo Hand (talk) 14:38, 25 November 2015 (UTC)" Although this statement is not entirely clear to me as to why you claim we are using Wikipedia as a webhost (our community has its own webpage) I will try to explain why we are fit to have an article on Wikipedia. Ukraine is a major IT market player in the world - and it is not the advertisement it is a fact. It used to be a major outsourcing hub but now we have many startups and big outsourcing giants that are starting to produce their own products. It has been decided that IT is a major player in the economy of Lviv (the city of 800 thousand people) so an association was established that has as its goal consolidation of the combined efforts of local authorities, universities and IT companies to improve the quality of education, push through necessary legislation and support the transformation of the society into information age savvy people. I cant see why this effort is not Wikipedia worthy. Additionally, as I mentioned in my primary request, Wikipedia hosts numerous articles about associations of technological companies in other countries around the globe, why are you making exception in this case? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roman Pollovyi (talkcontribs) 16:34, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

@Roman Pollovyi: There are a number of issues with this article - the content is promotional and doesn't explain why the group is significant. The fact that other articles exist really has no bearing on this specific article, though I do suggest you look at some of those articles and see how they are different. However, everything else aside, Wikipedia strongly discourages anyone from writing articles about subjects were they are directly involved - see WP:COI.--Mojo Hand (talk) 17:06, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Hey Mojo, hope all is well with you. Could do a quick class/importance assessment review on the WABN and WACL pages, please? Thanks in advance. - NeutralhomerTalk21:39, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
