- A request for comment asks whether partial blocks should be enabled on the English Wikipedia. If enabled, this functionality would allow administrators to block users from editing specific pages or namespaces, rather than the entire site.
- A proposal asks whether admins who don't use their tools for a significant period of time (e.g. five years) should have the toolset procedurally removed.
- Following a successful RfC, a whitelist is now available for users whose redirects will be autopatrolled by a bot, removing them from the new pages patrol queue. Admins can add such users to Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Redirect whitelist after a discussion following the guidelines at Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Redirect whitelist.

- Following a request for comment, partial blocks are now enabled on the English Wikipedia. This functionality allows administrators to block users from editing specific pages or namespaces rather than the entire site. A draft policy is being workshopped at Wikipedia:Partial blocks.
- The request for comment seeking the community's sentiment for a binding desysop procedure closed with
wide-spread support for an alternative desysoping procedure based on community input
. No proposed process received consensus.
- Twinkle now supports partial blocking. There is a small checkbox that toggles the "partial" status for both blocks and templating. There is currently one template: {{uw-pblock}}.
- When trying to move a page, if the target title already exists then a warning message is shown. The warning message will now include a link to the target title. [1]
- Following a recent arbitration case, the Arbitration Committee reminded administrators
that checkuser and oversight blocks must not be reversed or modified without prior consultation with the checkuser or oversighter who placed the block, the respective functionary team, or the Arbitration Committee.

So you didn't warn the IP after reverting this edit as an admin? Consider {{uw-warn}}
appropriately applied here. Toddst1 (talk) 04:46, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- Toddst1 - is this really how you talk to people you have never met? I think a friendlier initial approach is almost always a better way to make your point.--Mojo Hand (talk) 05:11, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- Criticize the delivery. Change the subject from your behavior. Good tactic. Toddst1 (talk) 15:39, 2 March 2020 (UTC)
- My behavior? I honestly find your messages here to be shocking. Some thoughts:
- User warning messages are never required, though obviously I think they are a good idea, given my participation in the UW WikiProject.
- Dickishness by long term users is almost as much of a problem as vandalism.
- If you had approached me in a friendly manner, I would have thanked you for the input and noted that I am using Huggle, which seems to be having issues in delivering user warnings.
- WP:DTTR does not appear to have any relevance to this discussion. Citing WP:CIR in this context is both technically incorrect and obnoxious. Perhaps you should read the things you reference.

I think I created this article as a redirect, and someone else made it into an article and then deleted it per G7. Don't know the history here, and "no" is fine, but would it be a good idea to turn it back into a redirect? HLHJ (talk) 05:06, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hello HLHJ. This page was only ever a redirect, and nobody else edited it. Here is the entire history of the page before I deleted it:
- (diff) 14:11, August 9, 2016 . . HLHJ (talk | contribs | block) 14 bytes (my typo: it has a stray 'n', should be Africa Rice Center)
- (diff) 14:03, August 9, 2016 . . HLHJ (talk | contribs | block) 107 bytes
- (diff) 14:03, August 9, 2016 . . HLHJ (talk | contribs | block) 114 bytes (requested own delete)
- (diff) 13:57, August 9, 2016 . . HLHJ (talk | contribs | block) 33 bytes (UK/US spelling)
- I think it could be a useful redirect, so I have no problem restoring it, if you want, or you could just re-create it as a redirect. Let me know your pleasure.--Mojo Hand (talk) 14:21, 9 May 2020 (UTC)
- That was rather silly of me, wasn't it? A redirect seems appropriate, done. I've created African Rice Centre with an R-E, too. Sorry for wasting your time. HLHJ (talk) 14:32, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Deletion of Gantumoote page
Hey, I was interested in creating a page for Gantumoote but I noticed that you deleted an article that was created for it earlier. I was wondering why was it deleted, and what would my article need to prevent deleting the page again? I've created wikipedia pages before so I do have some experience with it.
Thanks, Intoxicatedmidnight (talk) 01:42, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Intoxicatedmidnight. The page at Gantumoote never got started; someone just put the words, "Coming soon" on the page, but never actually got started writing the article. So the "article" was deleted as a test page, but not for any reasons related to the actual merits of the movie. As such, there is no logistical reason you can't start a new article at that page. Personally, I know very little about foreign language films, so I don't have any useful advice about whether the movie is notable or meets the relevant guideline WP:NFILMS. Good luck, and let me know if I can do anything else.--Mojo Hand (talk) 15:20, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
Blanking of AFD for privacy concerns
Dear Sir,
This page was just deleted. I wondered if you could please be so kind as to black the AFD cover-page, for privacy reasons, so that there are no BLP issues. Notably, so the page isn't google-able online.
Thanks a lot. BlueSapphires (talk) 23:38, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Advice on AFD
Dear Sir, I hope to seek help on an ongoing AFD. I am the article creator of Kwong Weng Yap. This page was created in 2016 and I went through proper processes (admission for new articles) and consulted a few wiki editors. After four years, because of news that the subject would participate as a political candidate, there has been a surge of edits/views over the past few days and a request for deletion of the page was activated due to the subject’s perceived lack of notability as claimed by some editors. I find no vanity in the article and believe the subject is notable. I explained my reasons in the link: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Kwong_Weng_Yap While I understand there has been 2 AFDs in 2015, I played no part in it. My article was substantially different when I created it. In 2016, I read about the subject on the newspaper and wrote an article about him. I tried to justify my case using references and articles to the best of my ability. In doing so, I found that two editors (the nominator and another editor) have been discussing on their talk pages to plan and delete the page. I find their actions unnecessary and wrong. I suspect that there are additional agendas to their actions besides improving an article, which I can’t seem to articulate because this seems too timely. I find this disturbing and have tried to resolve the matter but to no avail. I developed a sense of injustice not only because of the effort put in to write the article but also subjected to a sense of unfairness. Will appreciate it very much if you can help and advise. Superwifi (talk) 14:50, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Superwifi. I have taken a brief look at the article and the AFD, and I am not sure what advice you are looking for. I agree with Sandstein that the article is sufficiently different from the previous versions that it should go through another AFD discussion (rather than under speedy deletion WP:CSD#G4). Beyond that, I don't see anything improper in the nomination or the process. I do know that it is disheartening to work on content only to have it deleted. Unfortunately, that is a risk on Wikipedia. However, even if the article is deleted, you can still continue to work on it in userspace, to see if the subject gains clearer notability as a result of his political ambitions.--Mojo Hand (talk) 14:49, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
Dear Sir, I wanted to thank you for your comments, which made sense and showed kindness. This page Kwong Weng Yap was just deleted. - Hello again Superwifi. Sorry for the slow response - I've been a bit busy IRL. I am always sympathetic to BLP and privacy issues. At the same time, I see that this is the third AFD discussion about the same subject, and the other two have existed for some time. Is there something specific about this AFD that you think distinguishes it from the other two and creates BLP or privacy issues? --Mojo Hand (talk) 14:33, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
Hello Sir, thank you for your response despite being busy with work. I understand the subject didn’t pass the third AFD due to the notability criteria but I would like to work in userspace to improve this article should his notability becomes clearer in the future. Unlike the previous two AFDs, this AFD is different because it is substantially a different article from that were conducted several years back, which I had no involvement in. This time round, it has been specifically brought up that the subject was recently put in the spotlight due to an online spat with an academic. Hence potential BLP issues could occur and judgments can be made to downplay the subject’s accomplishments in a political context, which is not align to the values of Wikipedia and is unfair to the subject. As I created the content of this article, I wouldn’t want to cause/create any potential ‘harm’ to the subject in any way, so I am requesting for your understanding on the matter to maintain the article’s privacy. I will feel very bad if anything happens in this regard. Will appreciate it very much if you could kindly help Superwifi (talk) 16:54, 6 June 2020 (UTC) Superwifi (talk) 16:54, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

Special:WantedTemplates
Hi, I have been cleaning up Special:WantedTemplates and noticed that Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:"_+_"oldafdfull"_+_" is pointing to your monobook.js and vector.js pages. clearly these are false positives (basically a bug in how WP parses .js pages). it would be really great if you could add // <syntaxhighlight lang=javascript>
to the top and // </syntaxhighlight>
to the bottom of those pages. by putting these tags in comments, it won't prevent the javascript from executing, but it will remove those pages from Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:"_+_"oldafdfull"_+_". alternatively, for the monobook.js page, if you are no longer using the monobook skin (many people are using vector these days) and don't need to keep the old page, you could just have the page deleted. thank you in advance for your help.
